View Full Version : The May Pokemon Contest: Finals in Progress.
Ace64
30th April 2006, 08:28 AM
For the May contest, we will be allowing ten contestants the chance to earn a ribbon. After the first appeal, the bottom six contestants will be knocked out, and after the second round, another two. The final round should be familiar: a standard match lasting for five rounds. (10--4--2)
All entrants will post their first round appeals here: first come, first serve. Two different Pokemon will be used: one for the appeal process, and one for the battle, so choose wisely.
The stage this time will at the base of Mt. Trolgar (as seen in Chris' TPML) Most of you should be familiar, but for those who are not, just picture a mountain and you'll be fine. Weather attacks are permitted, but should still be used with caution- Rain Dance, for example, might create a flash flood and wash your appeals away!
With that in mind...let the mad rush for entrants begin.
There is a contest in June. The Grand Festival begins in July Ace! -Chris 2.0

Entering with my Deimos (Duskull Male).
Alrightly Deimos. Start off with a Blizzard, then use Psychic to take control of the ice crystals and form them into a ball shape (Disco Ball'ish). Finally, use Foresight. The red light from Foresight should reflect off the ball and create a cool light show.

Ok Kadabra or Kenny Craig (Male), create a light screen, then, I want you to use Psychic to help yourself SNOWBOARD down the mountain and as you coast, be sure to create some attention seeking sparks with thunderwave!

We're located at the base of the mountain, so it'd be a bit brutal to do. Even if there was some ice at the tip, it would peter out about halfway down. Wipeout.
EDIT: Oh yeah...Chris, in the ASB news update, it's posted that the May Contest was the final one for the season. That's what confused me, though I did think the Grand Festival was in June. Ah well.

OK Leeks, first start off by molting/ Featherdance then gust them higher into the air then fire a swift attack to the falling feathers, so it looks sort of like stars swirling around falling meteors.

Ok then, let's go with a good show of your Psychic Abilities Kadabra, see if that evolution was worth it!
I want you to use some prolonged attacks here! Start off by firing a Psybeam in a column. Then, use a shockwave in the middle so it'll all crackle wonderfully, and use Psychic to hold it all together/twist together beautifully.

Ok, Cuboner, last time our score was off by .2, and practice makes perfect, so again lets try and use our original startegies to show the crowd how tough and cool you are. First, use your Bone Club to pole vault into the air and do a speedy pirouette with Aerial Ace and finish by Slamming your club into te ground as you land, not strong enought for an Eq, just enough to kind of bitchslap the ground, for a kind of finishing cymbal clash effect.

OK, Phoebs, start the round off by using your Icy Wind against the rock - try to amass a nice big chunk of ice at the base of the mountain. Then, use the heat from your Will-O-Wisp to cut and shape the ice chunk into a crystal prism - a triangular one would probably work best. Then, finish up by using your Psychic powers to levitate the crystal so that the sunlight catches it and projects a rainbow over the crowd.

Mt. Trolgar is the site of the next Contest, where Pokemon trainers meet to compete for another chance at entering the Grand Festival. The competition is fierce, but by now, nearly everyone grasps how these contests go, and it's not nearly as difficult as the first contest. The audience is assembled in a loose semi-circle at the base of the mountain. In front of them at a small table sit four judges and the referee, chatting amongst themselves. This leaves the base of Mt. Trolgar and the surrounding area as the stage for Round One appeals. The entrants release their Pokemon, one by one, and begin their appeals.
Chris 2.0 and Delicaza (F Masquerain)
Bubble~Blizzard~Silver Wind
Delicaza floats gently on the mountain breeze, facing the judges, who look on expectantly. She inhales deeply before blowing out a stream of large, delicate bubbles, which drift along in the air. Flapping her four wings quickly, the air turns colder and colder. Several audience members shiver as Delicaza’s bubbles harden and freeze in mid-air. Before they can fall to the ground and shatter, a sudden gust of silvery wind gathers the spheres up and sends them spiraling into the air, astonishing the judges. As the bubbles shatter one by one on the unforgiving ground, a spray of ice chips ricochets into the air, gleaming in the sun.
Judge’s Rank: 8.0
The bubbles would have risen higher if you had used Blizzard last, as they would have much less weight. Still, a nice appeal and a good combination of attacks.
Ultimate Charizard (M Snorlax)
Water Gun~Ice Beam~Fire Punch
Next up, UC’s unnamed Snorlax stomps out into the clearing. Towering over the judges and people in the audience, Snorlax lifts his head and fires a jet of high-pressure water into the air. The Water Gun flies straight upwards, before gravity takes over. With expert aim, Snorlax blasts a beam of sub-zero energy, freezing the water solid in mid-air. However, the ice block is not too large with so little water to work with, and upon impact with the ground, the block breaks down a bit further. Nonetheless, Snorlax steps forward, his hand covered in flame and his face screwed in thought. The judges watch curiously as he goes to work, carefully crafting a shape into the ice. When Snorlax steps away, the ice block has been transformed into a medium-sized sculpture of a Pichu, one of his teammates. Guess you can’t see too much subject matter when you’re sleeping all of the time.
Judge’s Rank: 6.4
A stronger water attack would have resulted in a larger ice sculpture, which means a bit more impressive. Also, the ice’s impact upon landing gives the sculpture a slightly uneven grounding.
MeLoVeGhOsTs and Beedrill (M)
Agility~Pin Missile~Swift
MLG’s Beedrill takes center stage next. Beedrills are fairly rare in ASB, yet this one seems to be in excellent condition, and the judges scribble a few notes. Beedrill becomes an orange blur as he zips up into the air and then in quick, tight circle. The audience gasps appreciatively as the bee becomes a blur, hardly visible. A sudden barrage of needles flies into the air, startling the judges. A moment later, a blast of Swift fires out from all directions, criss-crossing amongst the needles. The audience feels utterly bewildered- there are so many things to watch. Beedrill comes a halt, surrounded by Pin Missiles which lay stuck in the ground.
Judges Rank: 6.9
An excellent display of Beedrill’s speed. However, there was a lot flying around with this appeal, which worked against you. Swift, pin needles, and Beedrill flying around- it’s hard to focus on seeing one thing.
Elec Man EXE and Deimos (M Duskull)
Blizzard~Psychic~Foresight
An eerie looking Duskull takes the field next, his single eye seeming to burn into the judge’s souls. He takes a chilling, shuddering “breath” before exhaling a wide cone of cold energy, instantly cooling the area. The audience members shudder as Deimos’ eye flashes; the Blizzard seems to be gathering close together like a single entity. The ice storm forms a loose sphere, hovering above the judges’ heads. As Deimos’ eye flashes once more, a beam of red light refracts through the ice crystals, creating a dazzling light show.
Judge’s Rank: 8.3
Very well done. The ice crystals were the perfect medium for a light show, which was visually stunning as well as fairly simple to perform. It would only be spookier if it was nighttime…but that hardly matters.
Hatake Kakashi and Full Charge
Water Pulse~Ice Beam~Strength
As Full Charge takes the field, he reviews his orders. Create a frozen sphere of water, then push it into the air. But where does the water go? On his nose? In his mouth? Confused, the Tauros decides to make do. He fires a blast of water into the air, laced with psychic power. Immediately after, a beam of ice is fired, solidifying the water into a sphere. The ice ball begins to fall to earth, directly above him. Full Charge and snorts and butts the ball upward with his horns, cracking the surface of the ice and sending it even higher. As the glittering ice ball lands with a crash on the ground, the judges sigh. So many ice moves…they’re getting rather chilly.
Judges Rank: 5.9
As Sunny Day is not in effect, there’s no way the ice ball would melt in mid-air, unless you meant for Full Charge to send it into the stratosphere. Of course, with the ice ball newly frozen, that much strength might shatter most of the ball on impact…
Charles Legend and Leeks (M Farfetch’d)
Featherdance~Gust~Swift
An odd-looking Farfetch’d flaps into center stage, a leek held between his teeth and a small ‘L’ emblazoned on his forehead. The judges murmured amongst themselves as the green-eyed bird concentrated, his wings flapping slightly. He shot up into the air, and with each flap of his wings, several feathers flew loose. Leeks turned sharply and sent a strong blast of air at the fluttering feathers, sending them higher above him. Finally, the duck Pokemon blasted an array of Swift stars through the feathers, which weaved around the obstacles in mid-air.
Judges Rank: 6.1
A nice appeal, but not especially visually appealing like some of the others. Taking risks is part of success.
As we near the end of the first round of appeals, the ref takes a moment to wipe the field clear of ice granules and feathers. Wonderful. It’s always nice to add ‘janitorial duties’ to the ol’ resume…
Andrew and (M KadOzBra)
Psybeam~Shockwave~Psychic
Fortunately, the ref’s grumbling ceases as a serious-looking Kadabra teleports into view. Focusing, he quickly fires a dazzling Psybeam directly at the judges, who gasp in fright. Immediately, he follows up the psychic attack with a faster-traveling burst of electricity. As the Shockwave begins to pass through the Psybeam, KadOzBra grunts, surrounded with a violet aura. The attacks are covered in that same aura, and through sheer force of will, the psychic Pokemon halts their forward motion directly in front of the judges. The two attacks look similar to a double helix, brimming with barely contained energy.
Judges Rank: 8.5
Very nice. Perhaps a different attack than Shockwave could’ve been used, as the two moves might travel at different rates of speed. Only a psychic Pokemon could’ve used Psychic with such precision.
Drew and Walker (M Armaldo)
Swords Dance~Rock Blast~Metal Claw
A tough-looking Armaldo stomps on the field, feeling a tad nervous at having to follow up after KadOzBra. At a comforting word from his trainer, however, Walker calmed down, squaring up with the judges. The Armaldo closed his eyes tightly, allowing his breathing to slow- at the same time, an array of pale blades flickered and danced about him. When Walker opened his eyes, they were filled with new purpose. He looked up at the sky, focusing pure mineral energy in the palm of his hand and fired- one, two, three, four rocks into the air. The improved focus from the Swords Dance gives Walker the time he needs to position himself under them. As the rocks come to earth, one by one, they are each shattered in turn by a swing of Walker’s iron claws.
Judges Rank: 7.9
A good show of Walker’s power. The strength and focus gained from Swords Dance were just what he needed to position himself under each rock.
Mega Horny and Cuboner (M Marowak)
Bone Club~Aerial Ace~Slam
Next comes a sturdy Marowak, carrying a large bone in one hand. He’s second to last, but shows no signs of nervousness. Cuboner (cough…not quite appropriate, being a Marowak…) takes a few short steps before jamming his club into the earth and launching himself into the air. As he leaps upward, he performs a quick Aerial Ace to gain a bit more speed, corkscrewing in mid-air. As gravity resumes its hold on the ground Pokemon, Cuboner swings his club about, slamming it into the earth with a CRACK. Luckily, the bone doesn’t shatter upon impact with the ground.
Judges Rank: 6.8
A good appeal, but not an extraordinary sight like some of the other appeals. Play to your strengths, and to your element. Unique.
Blademaster and Phoebe (F Ralts)
Icy Wind~Will O’Wisp~Psychic
Coming up in dead last is Phoebe, a miniscule Ralts. Still, after a slight delay, she’s ready to go, and the judges watch on expectantly. She turns to the side of the mountain and calls down an icy gust of wind, which proceeds to rage against the rock at one specific point. After a few minutes of this, the rock is covered in a sheet-like covering of ice. Next comes the hard part- pulling the ice chunk out of the mountain. A small, bluish tongue of fire traces along the ice in a triangular shape, but the fire isn’t nearly strong enough to melt through solid rock/ice. Frustrated, Phoebe calls on her Psychic power to forcibly remove the rock from the mountain and lift it up into the air. The rock isn’t solid ice, and it’s only covered on one side, but the sun reflecting off of the ice does create the rainbow effect her trainer was looking for. The judges look on before comparing notes.
Judges Rank: 7.3
Will’ O Wisp wasn’t quite strong enough to cut the ice free from the rock- like using a match where you need a torch. Luckily, following up with Psychic was the opportunity to pull the rock free, though the effect was ruined somewhat by the rock being only half-covered in ice- the visible side.
As the first round comes to an end, the judges announce who will pass on to the next round.
Andrew and KadOzBra

Ace64
10th May 2006, 08:29 PM
Can't say I would know much about contests...I've only been here for two.
The second appeal begins. Those lucky enough to survive the first round mutter hushed orders to their loyal Pokemon. As the sun begins to set over Mt. Trolgar,Delicaza, Deimos, KadOzBra, and Walker line up, each ready to do their best. The second round begins now!
Chris 2.0 and Delicaza (F Masquerain)
Bubble~Whirlwind~Psybeam
Delicaza floats forward first, her wings carrying her serenely. She begins by blowing out a stream of bubbles in a semi-circle around her. The bubbles slowly drift towards the ground, unaided by any wind. Suddenly, however, a breeze kicks up, carrying the bubbles skyward before any can pop. The crowd watches, amazed, as the butterfly seems to be surrounded with a storm of drifting bubbles. With perfect timing, Delicaza draws from his psychic energy and sends a colorful Psybeam through a gap in the bubbles. As the beam passes through the gap, the multiple colors reflect off of the bubbles, sending a kaleidoscope of color shimmering along the dirt. The judges ducked quickly, avoiding the approaching Psybeam.
Judge’s Rank: 8.2
Nicely done. A similar strategy to your first appeal, but why mess with success, I suppose? However, a better choice than Psybeam may have been Flash, which would have achieved the same effect without firing into the audience.
Elec Man EXE and Deimos (M Duskull)
Future Sight~Psychic~Will O’Wisp
The audience quiets at once as Deimos returns to the field. His single eye blinks out, making his skull look like an empty jack o’lantern, and the judges stare at him, confused. What happened to him? After a few moments, the ghostly eye returns, leaving the audience mystified. Unbeknownst to them, however, Deimos has looked ahead in time, releasing a great amount of psychic energy at a single point in time. Next, Deimos looks about the field, uproots several small bushes and weeds with psychic power, holding them aloft with his mind. He begins to twirl them in mid-air, and as his eye flashes once more, the small plants burst into flame. The crowd shrieks in delight as the plants seem to dance above them, smoldering with blue flame. Following sudden instinct, Deimos pulls the mass of plants together just as a sudden burst of lavender psychic energy detonates, sending the plants flying in all directions. The crowd oohs and ahhs, astonished at the pyrotechnic display. Sadly, a small brush fire has begun, and the ref dispatches a few water Pokemon to handle the problem…
Judge’s Rank: 8.7
Creative, to say the least. Future Sight was a risky move, as there is no way to tell when it goes off. Thank the (online) dice.
Andrew and (M KadOzBra)
Double Team~Teleport~Psybeam
As the last embers of the brush fire is finally washed away, the judges settle back into their seats. Just like before, KadOzBra teleports onto the field, appearing from an undisclosed location. He clasps his hand together, his eyes shut tightly, and POOF! Twelve clones appear in the field around him, each looking just as serious as the next one. KadOzBra’s spoon shimmers, wrapped in psychic power, and all of the clones reappear in mid-air, via a Mass Teleport. The air is filled with Kadabra’s, but only the center one fires a powerful Psychic at the ground below him. 11 other Kadabras mimic the first, and the audience is dazzled by the purple bursts of light. KadOzBra lands on the ground with a ground, and his other clones disappear in flash of light.
Judges Rank: 8.4
Gotta like the clones. Still, there was no way for KadOzBra to land gracefully, and perhaps it would have been better to send attacks skyward, than to take to the sky yourself.
Drew and Walker (M Armaldo)
Rock Tomb~Seismic Toss~Water Pulse
Finally, Walker returns to the field, unperturbed at having to follow such fantastic appeals. He grunts, focusing on the earth, and stomps once. In response, the earth sends forth a small mound of rocks in front of him, in a loose circle. Using his large spade-like claws, Walker lifted the stones off of the ground and threw them up into the air easily. The judges quickly scribbled notes, observing the height of the thrown stones. Walker inhaled quickly, summoning moisture from a small sac in his chest, and spat four times quickly. The Water Pulse bursts weren’t quite strong enough to shatter solid rock, being, well, rock. However, the crowd applauded nonetheless, impressed with the Armaldo’s marksmanship.
Judges Rank: 8.1
Walker may be strong, but his strength doesn’t affect the power of his elemental moves. If the rocks were softer, perhaps shattering would have been possible. A good appeal, nonetheless.
After a few minutes of deliberation, the judges compare notes. One takes the microphone, facing the crowd.
"The second round is now ended. Elec Man EXE and Andrew will go on to the next round, which will consist of a one on one match lasting five rounds."
You know the drill. The arena is Mt. Trolgar. No moves are banned, and please keep the setting in mind. Certain attacks may cause rockslides, etc. Night will fall in Round Three, which will limit visibility. Please PM your choice to me, and then the battle will begin.
Chris 2.0
11th May 2006, 09:13 AM
Well done everybody! Deli did very well and I did contemplate flash instead of psybeam, but preffered the rainbow-light (as opposed to bright white flash). But the appeal's shape and style was much different.
Good luck Elec Man, and good luck Andrew!
Ace64
15th May 2006, 04:24 PM
As the remaining entrants clear the field, Andrew and Elec Man step into the arena, facing each other. They both choose a Pokeball, eyeing each other intensely, before revealing their choice. The "pretty princess" hopeful chooses his femal Corsola:
"Go, CorsolOz! You know what's at stake!"
While the self-proclaimed Master of Electricity goes with a more familiar Pokemon, the very Duskull that the judges have seen through the appeal process:
"Go, Deimos!It's all you!"
As the Pokemon size each other up, the crowd murmurs amongst each other. How will their choices affect the coming battle?
After a moment of deliberation (i.e.- a coin toss) the ref announces the order of attacks. "Andrew shall attack first, then Elec Man! Begin!"

[center]Round One, Begin!
The crowd quiets as the commands are issued. They have worked hard to get here, and now, with the Ribbon in reach, neither one is ready to go home with nothing.
CorsolOz takes the offensive first, emitting a soft, dancing light from her scales, and directing it towards the ghost’s eyes. (-4% energy) Her attack is wasted though, as her opponent closed his eyes! Deimos is already concentrating, his single eye vacant of life. A few moments later, three clones pop into existence next to him. (-4% energy)
Put off, the Corsola hesitates. Which ghost is the true one? With no way to tell the difference, CorsolOz picks a Duskull at random and fires a barrage of small, dagger-like icicles. Luckily for her, the attack connects! (7% damage, -5% energy) The spears pass harmlessly through Deimos, but the icy energy behind it does not, and his clones shatter with his concentration lost. Annoyed, Deimos’ eye turns pink as he glimpse into the future, choosing the best moment to strike. A large amount of psychic energy is discharged, waiting to come at the opportune moment. (-7% energy)
Ghostly attacks seem to be the theme for this round. CorsolOz twirls and whirls, creating a amorphous mass of dead energy, loosely held in a sphere. The dead energy is fired off without fanfare, impacting with Deimos and ‘pushing’ him backwards. (9% damage, -7% energy) Angry, the Duskull blasts a beam of pure negative energy at the water Pokemon, which seem to drain her of life. (8% damage, -6% energy) Round One comes to a close…

That could've gone better....
No matter Deimos, we're still good.
Start off with a Will-O-Wisp, lets try and burn that pretty coral formation.
Then use your own Confuse Ray.
Finally, use Psychic to throw the heaviest object you can successfully lift (you know how strong your attack is), crush her under it. There should be plenty of heavy rocks and whatnot around.

Ok Corsola, start off with a delightful waterpulse to counter the will o wisps. Then, use close your eyes and use calm mind. Finish off by calling down a rockslide to seehowthat ghost can deal with more than one rock.

Deimos' eye shifts to blue, and smaller flames branch off of it, floating towards the Corsola with malign intent. (-4% energy) Undisturbed, CorsolOz takes aim and fires a few bursts of water, putting out the flames with no problem. A few blasts manage to deal the ghost a glancing blow, though the focus was actually the balls of flame.(6% damage, -5% energy)
Mimicking the motions that CorsolOz performed last round, Deimos tries a Confuse Ray. Being a ghost, the move is much easier for him to perform, and the dancing ball of light dazzles the audience.(-3% energy) CorsolOz sees none of it, however. Her eyes are shut and her mind is a thousand miles away. Perhaps she is imagining swimming in the crystal clear seas of her youth...(-3% energy) Abruptly, there is a brief whistling sound, before a tremendous blast of psychic energy smacks into CorsolOz from out of nowhere, surprising her.It seems Deimos chose the right moment for his Future Sight..(8% damage)
Deimos turns his attention to his surroundings. Quickly, he finds a fairly large boulder, far bigger than himself or the Corsola. His eye changes to a violet color as his Psychic powers come to bear. CorsolOz doesn't even bother to look at the rock; she's too busy concentrating. As Deimos brings the boulder on top of her with a shuddering CRASH, the last thing the audience sees her do is stomp the earth, HARD. (8% damage, -7% energy) For a moment, all is still, and the audience murmurs. Is the Corsola still alive? Then, a pebble hits the base of the mountain. Minutes later, an avalance of rocks follow the pebble, moving straight towards Deimos and the crowd of people! Quickly, Psychic Pokemon are dispatched to protect the audience from the avalanche. Deimos isn't so lucky. (10% damage, -8% energy) The tiny Corsola shifts some rubble out of the way slowly, climbing out of the rock pile. It seems she wasn't unharmed by the move either...(4% damage)

Good job Deimos, keep it up.
Faint Attack to dodge the Ice Beam and attack back.
Then use Confuse Ray to get some confusion going.
And finally, let it use Sandstorm. It'll have little effect with most of the soft ground covered by the rocks. Take the opportunity to hit her with a Shadow Ball.

Shaking off some dust, CorsolOz sighs, finally free of the rocks. Feeling a bit worse for the wear, she charges a glimmering orb of icy energy nonetheless. Too late- as she releases the Ice Beam, she realizes that Deimos is no longer there, and the beam freezes the front portion of a large boulder. (-8% energy) Deimos appears from out of nowhere, striking CorsolOz from behind. (9% damage, -8% energy)
[color=yellow]The Corsola rolls, turning around and facing the ghost again. The jagged pieces of her coral formation seem to be breaking into pieces, suddenly launching themselves towards Deimos with an unknown force. The rocks pass through Deimos, disrupting his ethereal form with each shot. (10% damage, -8% energy) The ghost responds with a Confuse Ray, and suddenly, CorsolOz's eyes start to spin. (-3% energy)
What was she supposed to do? Sandblast or sommat? It feels hard to think... Deimos helps clear up CorsolOz's head with a ball of ghostly power right in the face. (10% damage, -8% energy) Annoyed, the Corsola rolls back over and summons a gust of wind, bringing a sandstorm. The avalanche shifted a good deal of dirt and rock around, and as a result, the Sandstorm is quite heavy, filled with pebbles, sand, and all kinds of painful goodies. (5% damage,-4% energy) The two combatants can barely see each other in this mess, and the audience mutters at the loss of vision.

Sandblast or sommat, lol
Ok Deimos, lets try and make the best of this little storm.
Get yourself behind a rock to try and hide yourself. Even though she's a rock type, I doubt she can see very well in this either. Once you think your more or less hidden, use a Calm Mind to put yourself in a more focused state (and make yourself more resistant to any attempts at psionic attacks she might try).
Then, use a Future Sight to hit her later when she's more vulnerable.
And finally, use a nice Psychic attack directly on her mind. Don't bother trying to locate her by sight, use the psychic power to search out her mind and then blast her.
Try and stay hidden the entire round. If you feel you've been found, feel free to move behind a different rock or something.

Finding cover in a storm like this is like hiding in a house with one wall during a thunderstorm. Nonetheless, Deimos spots a large shadow and quickly presses himself against it, shielding himself from the storm. The boulder protects him partially from the sand, allowing him just enough "me" time to slow his racing mind and block out the storm. (-3% energy) CorsolOz's thick hide protects her from the brunt of the sand and winds, as an astounding phenomenon takes place. Her chipped coral fragments seem to heal, forming from nothingness, and her wounds begin to close up. However, that energy has to come from somewhere...(+15% health,-15% energy)
[color=yellow]Deimos' eye turns a bright orange, as he glimpes into the future. There isn't much time left...but he knows the moment for a good strong attack is very soon.(-7% energy) Unaware of her opponent's schemes, CorsolOz continues to relax, as the sandstorm begins to die down. (+5% energy)
Suddenly, CorsolOz gets the strangest sensation...like someone is trying to open the door to her mind...and steal the honey from her fridge. A psychic feeler from Deimos can be the only answer. Quickly, she focuses her own telepathic will on keeping the door to her head shut. There is a brief struggle of the minds, unseen and unheard, but raging between the two Pokemon. Neither are particularly skilled at Psychic, but due to Deimos' calmed thoughts, the ghost begins to take the advantage. He pushes the door open with a tremendous "shove" and begins to commit havoc within the coral formation's mind. (9% damage, -8% energy) CorsolOz grunts in pain, sweating from her own exertion. (-7% energy) Just in time, the Sandstorm's winds finally end, leaving both Pokemon in plain view.

EDIT: Recover. I reffed Calm Mind as having a direct effect in the same round it was used. You used Calm Mind to help ward of the effects of Confuse Ray, just in case CorsolOz saw it. In this round, Calm Mind helped boost Deimos' psychic expertise. If you were to have another 'war of the minds' next round on even grounds, there would be no advantage gained.

Both Pokemon are beginning to tire, as this Contest nears its conclusion. The pressure must be unbearable, and the crowd can easily see that the Corsola is strained. Confuse Ray is the name of the game (all the kids are doing it), and CorsolOz releases yet another dancing orb of refracting light. (-3% energy) Alas, Deimos, quite used to this attack by now, has already covered his eye. A chill wind rises from nowhere, swirling the dirt and dust in a small tornado. Its effect is lessened, spread thin, but CorsolOz nonetheless feels a bit colder. (6% damage, -6% energy)
[color=yellow]The Corsola deliberates. She's feeling very exhausted, but she believes she can manage to pull off one more attack.. Focused, she concentrates on the boulders around her and levitates three small boulders. Sweating, she throws the rocks with all her might at the ghost, and there is a terrific CRACK... as the boulders pass through air, connecting with each other. (-8% energy) Deimos appears in front of her, a gleeful expression in his eye, and swipes at her, his hand covered in a dark aura. (8% damage, -6% energy) Even worse, there is a sudden rush of wind as a bullet-shaped blast of psychic power erupts from behind CorsolOz, sending her flying through the ghost and onto her face. (8% damage)
Feeling very low, CorsolOz relaxes, not even bothering to get up.(+5% energy) She barely notices the twinge of pain from behind, as Deimos' Nightshade strikes her, turning her coral a brief gray. (9% damage, -7% energy) It's all over now, and as the referee's whistle blows, she closes her eyes. Deimos shakes his head wearily, just as tired but also proud. Ghosts everywhere smile on his victory.
