Wow, I feel so cool saying this :D. Anyway, rules.

One Pokemon at a time, two each.
I choose first, you attack first
No rest or recovery of HP except for drain moves (Absorb, Giga Drain, et cetera)
DQ time is one week

Arena: In celebration of summer time, I decided it'd be great to have a battle on the beach. The sun is shining, the sea is beautiful with gentle waves lapping, and there's a calm breeze. The beach is not without obstacles of course. There are a few palm trees in the area with coconuts growing on them and large rocks are jutting from the water and shoreline. There are Wingull in the air; these birds keep to themselves most of the time but may become agitated if they feel dangered as they glide through the air and could attack. Tentacool are swarming in the water and once in awhile one may wash up on the beach. It is still lethal in this condition. Besides the Tentacool there are also underwater caves, but those may not be much of a concern since non of our Pokemon are aquatic. There is also the occasional Krabby scuddling in the arena, and these Pokemon are not shy to intervene if their territory is invaded.

I shall start with my female Makuhita, Sumorai! *Opens beach bag and removes a Great Ball. Moments later the tubby yellow Fighting type emerges. Sumorai feels excited by the environment, being indegeneous to the beachside Granite Cave on the outskirts of Dewford Island. She takes a fighting stance, looking forward to every chance she can get to collect energy for her future evolution.*

Wow, I accept your challenge, Ivee! It's been a long while since I battled, so I hope I'm not getting rusty. Anyways...

I choose my Aerodactyl, Manwé! Okay now, keep yourself up high to avoid most of the Makuhita's attacks while using Agility, flying around her in circles, and attack with a couple of Aerial Aces.

Agility - Aerial Ace x2

Whoops, the E on Manwe should be an ë, as in Manwë. Sorry, I'm a little picky about spelling. *shrugs*

Meep o_O

Sumorai, don't let the big flyer crush your spirits! Home in fast for a Fake Out. When up close then try and grapple the Aero and slam it down with Seismic Toss. If you can't get a hold of it, then use *Rockslide.

Fake Out ~ Seismic Toss ~ *Rockslide

*We do allow fire/leaf move tutors, correct? If not, then make it a Rock Tomb.

Yeah, any move a pokemon can legally use in the games can be used in ASB.

Guess this would be my turn now. Again I haven't reffed in a good..2 years..so please be brutally honest about my skills afterwards. Also, since I have no knowledge of some R/S moves, I'ma use my own interpretation..enjoy ^_^.

P.S.-sorry for the lateness.

Round 1

Sumorai the Makuhita (Female)
Fake Out~Seismic Toss~Rock Slide
Manwe (can't do the E sorry..) the Aerodactyl (Male?)

Pre Battle
The soft crashing of ocean water on a rocky coast..the chanting calls of soaring Wingull's..a soft breeze passing threw the palm trees. We are nowhere other than the beach for to days epic battle in this new league. Today a new beginner, Iveechan, dressed for the occasion in a 2 piece and a towel wrapped around, reaches into her beach bag for a great ball and tosses it with a flourish releasing a pudgy yellow fighting type named Sumorai. As she warms up punching the air, a dark shadow looms over them. As it get larger and slows its decent we come to find out its an Aerodactyl carrying its trainer Aragornbird. She leaps off in Khaki shorts a white tank and shades. Looks like everyone is dressed for the occasion..except for me of course..but I'm just a writer..anyway, attacks are issued and the round starts..
~
Battle
Still hovering in close proximity to the ground, Manwe shoots straight up in a burst of God like speed, circling the skies in a stony gray blur. Sumorai watches the the prehistoric beast closely, a great power building inside. Sudden Manwe swoop down at break neck speed, surround by sky blue swirling wind to increase his speed. A deep trench is made in the sand as he levels off coming to hit home on the patient Makuhita who grins in anticipation. A white aura pulsates from Sumorai and with this boost she fakes right to throw off Manwe's path of destruction and suddenly jukes left leaving the bird to glide effortlessly by her. As their eyes meet on the pass by Manwe is met with a heavy left hook to the skull. The monstrous speed and momentum added with the attack sends Manwe tumbeling and and crashing in painful awkward rolls, smashing through a tree ad grinding to a stop. Still working off the buzz of missing bone shattering death the Makuhita rushes the downed Areodactyl and latches it by the neck. Taking a deep breath she leaps, clearing a good 15 feet carrying both her and Manwe and does two rolling flips in mid air to build momentum. At the end, with all her might, she launched the still dazed Manwe like a bullet into the sand, making a huge geyser of grimy earth to rise up after. To say the lease its a comical sight to an Aerodactyl buried head first in the sand. Sumorai land softly ina 3 point stance as Manwe thrashes to free himself. The only stones available for manipulation are by the coast, so Sumorai heads there for the tools she needs. Concentrating heavily, both arms raised, a mystic force slowly levitates 1..2....6 large stones. Her task almost complete she is suddenly fill with pain and torture to he left foot. She hop on her right flailing wildly, an angry Krabby has latched onto her other foot, pissed for being stepped uponed. The stones fall back into the sea, seeing as Sumorai can't consentrate. Manwe brusts from her sand prison and releases a piercing screech of hatred. He searches the beach and his opponent and his eyes lock on the hoping Makuhita. He flaps once to acsend, surrounds himself in the sky blue winds, and takes off with a enough speed to leave a sonic boom. Sumorai has no way to defend as she is hit dead on and launched into the ocean. She swims to the surface and gasps for air. The Krabby is gone, but she has whole new set of problems, circling Tentacool...

STATS
Sumorai-88%~Sore Left foot and wading in the ocean surrounded by poison jellyfish
Manwe-71%~Seething in rage of being over taken so quickly and early in the match.

Before I take my turn for command (I'm not sure who should command first if it should be me then her) I'll make a few comments. Well, aragornbird is female and it's spelled Sumorai. And in a grammar manner, there's a few places where there should be a comma. But I like the way there's a cliffhanger at the end of the round.

If it's ok by aragorn, I choose attacks first this round, then you go first the next, and so on?

Mobius19
17th June 2004, 11:47 PM
Thanx for the input..guess I'm not that rusty..just misinformed ^_^. And yess you do attack next, it always goes in the order of who attacks lasted going first next round. Thanx again =)

*Feels a bit concerned for her Makuhita, but figures out a plan*

Hang ten Sumorai and use Surf to get yourself back on land. If we're lucky, we can also soak Manwë and fling some jellies on him ;). When you make it to land, let's get dangerous and use Belly Drum. But if Manwë dives at you then be prepared to use Reversal first.

Surf ~ Belly Drum ~ Reversal (order of the last two moves dependant on Manwë's actions)

aragornbird
18th June 2004, 01:14 PM
I'm not female, I'm male. But, yeah, Manwë's male, I forgot about that. O_o

Whatever...

Use your boosted speed to fly out of the way of the Surf and use Double Team once you're safe in the air. Then when Sumorai uses Belly Drum, fly back down and spit Toxic in her face. Finally, surround her with your clones and use Dragonbreath.

Double Team - Toxic - Dragonbreath

I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow afternoon for 8 days, just to let you know.

Sure. It makes the battle one round less and if I ref two rounds at least, then I'm not *really* subreffing anymore, am I? Yeah, I'd like to. I'll do it tomorrow, I've got a half-page report on The Tell-Tale Heart to do.

Iveechan v. Aragornbird – 2 on 2 – Round 2
Sumorai the female Makuhita v. Manwe the male Aerodactyl

Sumorai: 88% - Fatigue: 8%* - Sore left foot, and she’s wading in the ocean surrounded by poisonous jellyfish.
Manwe: 71% - Fatigue: 11%* - Seething in rage of being overtaken so easily and so early in the match.
Arena: Not totally trashed yet…

*I use a fatigue meter, so I calculated your pokemon’s by reading his reffing. When either fatigue reaches 100% or health 0% the pokemon is knocked out.

Sumorai: Surf – Belly Drum – Reversal
Manwe: Double Team – Toxic – Dragonbreath

Before the Round Begins

Man, this Aerodactyl must have an anger management problem, or something. Oh, who am I? I’m subbing in for the guy who fell asleep during your battle. Sorry, but with TPMASB reffing leagues, this seems to happen a lot. I’ll try not to…just keep it interesting, okay? Good. Anyway, Manwe seems to have a tough time adjusting to the fact that he’s slow. Sumorai looks incredibly scared and desperately wants to get to shore.

Battle: Round 2

Manwe’s superior speed enables the great beast to fly up into the air, away from any dangerous waves. Utilizing basic skills, the flying type manages to create four clones. There are now five different versions of the Aerodactyl. Sumorai isn’t perturbed and manages to body-surf her way back to shore, but not without getting stung a little bit, leaving a nasty burn on her stomach.

Manwe’s dastardly plan goes into action as all five all the birds converge on the tiny flying type, each spitting a glob of poison goo at the fighting type. Covering her head, Sumorai gets the full brunt and is covered with the stuff, which seeps into her skin. Slightly angered and a little more than sick to her stomach, the little Makuhita starts pounding her stomach, which makes loud slapping noises but incenses the little pokemon to full fury. Like a berserker, the fighting type leaps up and starts punching the air at the five Aerodactyl’s looking down on the pokemon.

Manwe rears back, as do his clones. All of them launch a huge blast of golden-hued flames that lick their opponent, but it only increases the furor of the smaller pokemon. The pokemon bends down, and using it’s fat legs as springs leaps into the air, twirling in a circle. Sumorai smacks all of them to find the real one, to which she punches harder than all of her previous attacks. Manwe lurches backward into the sea and flies out, dripping wet and not amused. Sumorai is still in a battle state of mind and it won’t drop soon.
End of Battle Statistics:

Sumorai: 69% - Fatigue: 29% - Badly poisoned (2% per round), slight burn on stomach, berserk(6 more actions), sore left foot.
Manwe: 54% - Fatigue: 17% - No clones left, angry, dripping with salt water.
Arena: Ho hum.

I finished my essay. Woo.

18th August 2004, 07:42 AM
Good job, Manwe. Now use Fly into the sky where her attacks can't reach you. Then use Sunny Day to dry yourself off. And finally, blast it with Fire Blast, but if she uses Reversal, Counter, or tries to protect herself, just use Double Team.

Fly - Sunny Day - Fire Blast/Double Team

It's alive!

All right, let's have some fun. Whirlwind will seriously mess this ancient flying thingy. Then we'll cool things down with Rain Dance. Finally, use Metronome and we'll see what sort of surprise you cook up.

Iveechan v. Aragornbird – 2 on 2 – Round 3
Sumorai the female Makuhita v. Manwe the male Aerodactyl

Sumorai: 69% - Fatigue: 29% - Badly poisoned (2% per action), slight burn on stomach, berserk(6 more actions), sore left foot.
Manwe: 54% - Fatigue: 17% - No clones left, angry, dripping with salt water, no longer super fast.
Arena: Ho hum.

Manwe: Fly – Sunny Day – Fire Blast/Double Team
Sumorai: Whirlwind – Rain Dance – Metronome

Before the Round Begins

Sumorai seems to ignore all of her trainer’s commands. The berserk state of mind makes it so that all Sumorai wants to do is attack, attack, attack. Wimpy moves, like Whirlwind and Sunny Day don’t interest her. Manwe, dripping and angry, is quite ready for the next round to begin. The ocean laps quietly on the shore and the Krabbys seem to have returned as curious onlookers.

Battle: Round 3

Manwe, even with his loss of speed, still flies into the air with no problem, the water falling and his skin drying quickly. Sumorai punches the air in front of him as Manwe grins.

Sumorai walks over to the Krabbys and picks a startled one up. Pulling back, the fighting type launches to scared crab at her opponent. The Krabby hits Manwe hard in the face. Manwe goes down, but not before sending up a small beam of fire that turns the already sunny day at the beach to a rising inferno of heat.

Manwe now gets into the air quickly, dripping yet again. The water dries off in the heat, but Sumorai takes a huge Fire Blast head on, taking severe damage. Sumorai starts concentrating and comes up with a move. Smirking, the fat little pokemon runs and lumps on Manwe;’ back, and starts wailing her revenge. Manwe goes down again, surprised, and shakes off both the water and his foe. Sumorai grins, but is still on the warpath. Manwe is furious that he has been dunked not once, not twice, but three times! The Aerodactyl plans his own revenge for the next round.

End of Battle Statistics:

Sumorai: 50% - Fatigue: 36% - Badly poisoned (2% per action), slight burn on stomach, berserk (3 more actions), sore left foot.
Manwe: 31% - Fatigue: 26% - Furious, thoroughly soaked.
Arena: Sun shining quite brightly (3 more actions)

Iveechan
20th August 2004, 08:52 PM
Oh, so THAT'S what they meant by berserk. That confused me.

Um. I guess you could try Surf, Facade, and Arm Thrust

All right, Manwe, Agility high into the sky. It should be faster than actually using Fly. Finally, use Double Team once you're safe in the sky. Then come back down with a Sky Attack.

Iveechan v. Aragornbird – 2 on 2 – Round 4
Sumorai the female Makuhita v. Manwe the male Aerodactyl

Sumorai: 50% - Fatigue: 36% - Badly poisoned (2% per action), slight burn on stomach, berserk (3 more actions), sore left foot.
Manwe: 31% - Fatigue: 26% - Furious, thoroughly soaked.
Arena: Sun shining quite brightly (3 more actions)

Sumorai: Surf – Façade – Arm Thrust
Manwe: Agility - Double Team - Sky Attack

Before the Round Begins

Sumorai is still quite berserk, but at least this round she decides to listen to her trainer. Manwe believes he has an awesome strategy to get that silly fighting type. Manwe has a small smirk, his anger slightly dissipating at the idea that this round could be his. Sumorai has no logical thought in her mind and just wants to beat the crud out of her foe.

Battle: Round 3

Manwe again gains the first action and uses his powers to speed up greatly, launching into the sky and hovering there, about 25 feet above the ocean. Sumorai conjures up a small wave that’s beat down by the sun and Sumorai’s weak water abilities.

The Makuhita then uses her poison status, her slight burn and her berserk and grabs another Krabby, which she launches at her opponent, not having the ability to fly. Manwe smirks as he splits into two, then three then four. Sumorai’s Krabby flies and smacks an Aerodactyl, who recoils. The clones vanish and Manwe angrily looks down at his opponent, having had his clones disappear twice now.

Manwe begins to charge up, and begins flying in short circles, this way and that, low and high. As he comes low on several twists, Sumorai tries hitting him with a few thrusts of her arms, but misses completely. Manwe continues his spectacular air show and sets his sights on his opponent, breaking the sound barrier, the giant rock pokemon slams into his enemy, knocking the Makuhita into the ocean and on top of an angry Tentaccool who stings her relentlessly. The fighting type manages to swim away from her new attacker but that slight burn is now very dangerous to the pokemon’s health. The stings also increased the amount of poison in her veins. Manwe manages to coast down and rest in a palm tree, catching his breath that he sorely needs.

End of Battle Statistics:

Sumorai: 19% - Fatigue: 44% - Badly poisoned (3% per action), bad burn on stomach (2% per round), in dangerous group of tentacool in ocean.
Manwe: 28% - Fatigue: 59% - Exhausted, slightly happy, no clones remaining.
Arena: Tentacool are conveging in on Sumorai and Manwe’s occupation of the palm trees is angering the Wingull whose nests are there.

aragornbird
21st August 2004, 07:04 PM
Whoo boy, you certainly did a lot of damage there.

Now fly away from those trees so the Wingull won't attack you and get on dry land far enough from the water so Sumorai's Surf can't get you. Relax once you do, but if Sumorai gets out of the water, use a Whirlwind to blow her back in. Finally, try a Flamethrower. Unless he uses Reversal, then just Relax some more.

Get on land and Relax - Relax/Whirlwind - Flamethrower/Relax

you know what? i quit asb. and i'm too lazy to capitalize. how can a poke be both burned and poisoned? we were never shown this in the anime.

Um, okay. Aragornbird, this battle's yours. You get two points I believe.Ivee, I ref these realistically. In the games you can't be both Burned and Poisoned, but in real life there would be no stopping. I don't follow the anime much, I just try to follow the ASB attack list and the game descriptions. Logic tells me that I could have any number of effects.
