You continue deeper into the burnt out old courthouse, eyeing the bats and making sure they stay FAR away from your hair. A Spinarak is seen slinking off into the darkness and looking back behind you you can see a Purugly curiously watching as you walk deeper into the building. Amidst the piles of rubble and burnt broken timbers you think you see something glinting in the waning sunlight. But before you can take a closer look the Forretress you saw earlier shifted in front of it. To your left is the Forretress and the shiny object, to your right is a hallway and right in front of you is an old ruined door halfway off its hinges.

You drop the pokeball unto the shiny Geodude's head. YOU MISS!! EPIC FAILURE!!....Um, just kidding! The pokeball neatly captures your shiny prize and floats midway to your chest before disappearing. You hear a voice over the PA system.

"Congrats Ben! Your Geodude will be waiting for you up front after your adventure is done. Remember, you now have 2 pokeballs left, so make the most of them! If you ever want to visit a different zone just say so. Be safe and have fun!"

You nod, pretty pleased with yourself over your recent catch. It hadnt gone unnoticed by the other pokemon in the area either. The Mankey and Makuhita, having laughed their asses off at the Geodude whom you get the idea that neither had liked, went back to fighting each other as they kicked up clouds of dust. A Riolu pokes its head outside one of the buildings towards the right before ducking back inside. A Vibrava skitters along the ground, apparently having missed the scuffle. Suddenly a rumbling in the ground catches your attention, and a Dugtrio bursts out of the ground where the Digletts were playing. It gazes at you with knowing eyes as if wanting to say something.

Asi smiles down at the little fire tortoise. "You may be fighting me now but soon youll be on my team. I look forward to becoming your friend." Clapping her hands together ste studies the field. "But in the meantime Im afraid I must cause you a bit of discomfort. Sushi! Hit it with a Mud Slap, then dodge around to a different place than he last saw you and let loose with another Surf! After that use Brine, but remember pull back if he ever looks about to faint, and Ill use my Pokeball!"

The Journey:

The Torkoal snorts at your comment, fire spitting from his nostrils. This is his territory, and he's not leaving it, no matter what you think.

Retracting into his shell(-5 (DEF +)), the Torkoal hardly notices as Sushi takes a glob of mud and slaps the Torkoal with it (-5/-4).

Sushi may have gotten a good hit, but the effect didn't seem to do that much against the reinforced armor. But that's not going to stop him as he summons the water from the area again and slams it into the Torkoal once more (-9/-13). The Torkoal isn't too happy, and uses the momentum from the water to whip into a spin and slamming back into Sushi (-7/-8).

With a good hit under it's belt, the Torkoal flails against the Piplup, smacking Sushi around like a rag doll (-5/-5). Sushi tries to retaliate but is frozen as his muscles lock up from the two hits.

You turn towards the Forretress and ask him nicely to move. He glares at you from inside his thick shell and rattles off a lot of nonsense in Pokemonese. Confused, you turn towards your pokemon to translate. It turns out he cannot move, he was instructed to watch over the courthouse and its secrets, and tells you that you shouldnt be here. He makes it clear that if you want to make it past him youll have to go through him to do it. He readies himself for an attack and eyes you suspiciously. As he shifts position to threaten you you catch a glimpse of the shiny object its standing in front of. Its a round gleaming surface which looks suspiciously like an Ultra Ball! The randomizer gods must have really been with you

Use Aqua Ring to restore some health then slam him with a double shot of Hydro Pump. As always if he looks about to faint which I doubt will happen soon, stop so I can catch him!"

Crystal grimaces a little, staring at the formidable Pokemon before her, she contemplates doing what it asked (ordered) and taking her leave. But the shine of the Ultra Ball is too alluring, she wants it, and she’d be damn if some floating ball of contorted steel would stop her.

“Fine.” She growls, and watches Edea smile wickedly, knowing there will be a fight. “If you won’t move, I’ll make you move.” Her Starmie floats forward as well. “Edea and Judge, use double team! Judge use Confuse ray and Edea use Agility, keep the edge and confuse the thing more with your speed, finally…” She pauses for the briefest of seconds. “Thunderwave Judge, and Sneasel, lets see how it likes a Brick Break to its steel shell, aim for the eyes. Then use your superior speed to get away!”

The Journey:

Well this is a fine kettle of fish. The Torkoal is proving to be a big bad opponent this time round, and is showing how much determination it has.

Sushi spits out water in a circle as he dances, letting the water collect around him (-7). The Torkoal snorts in anger before bellowing out a blast of hot air and flame (-11/-6). Even with the heat, Sushi can feel some of the rejuvenating effects (+7).

Spouting flame from the corners of his mouth, the Torkoal unleashes a burst of flame (-8/-2). Sushi takes the hit, but the ring of water took most of the hit ((Aqua Ring HP restored Reduced by 4)). Ready for another massive blast, Sushi cuts lose with the attack (-12/-15). The cooling ring around Sushi relieves some of the pain (+3).

Sushi tries to burst out with another blast, but Torkoal's smoking holes in his shell unleash a massive molten mass of magma (-14). In a mockery of Sushi's own Surf move, the molten mass slams into the small Water Pokémon (-5 (Burn, -3 HP)), and catching some of the plants in the area on fire. The Aqua Ring's destroyed and Sushi fights back with another blast of water (-12/-14).

The fight is turning ugly for both of them, as the Torkoal looks strained, and Sushi rubs his wing with the burn (-3 (Burn)).

Set. Fly over and get the Hera attention. Ask it if it wants to come along -and that we have free punch and pie. If he gets hostile, you vertically U-turn Set, so Chaos can laterally strike with an Aerial Ace-and then you come back down with a Twinneedle. Chaos you end with a Dragon Pulse.

Then back off of it, ad see what it does. If it still comes after us, then you guys do a dual Aerial Ace to stop it in its tracks.

Set flies over and talks to the Heracross. Heracross listens and shakes its head and points to the top of the tree. It wants to get the sap at the top of the tree but an Ambipom won't let him. Worst of all, if you try and attack it with more than one Pokemon, a thousand Aipom will jump out and use Swift.

Heracross will join you if it gets a drink from that sap.

Gabite climbs quickly up the tree and breathes out fire. It hits Ambipom and it loses balance. It falls to the ground. Gabite roasts it again and Ambipom flees. Heracross is delighted. It flies up and has a small feast. It finishes ad youu throw the Pokeball.

An Abra appears in front of you and teleports you, Set, Chaos, Shiftry and Heracross back.

A thick and heavy jungle where the best of explorers will find a thousand and one bugs. That's not to mention the abundant Poison types and several Grass types too.

The Journey:

The fight seemed to be heated as the Venomoth's confusion makes it a healthy target for the Vespiqueen who presses the attack with a strong strike (-7/-5). As the Venomoth is in range, Athen grabs the Poison Type as you grab onto her shell, and your world shifts again (-7).

The trip wasn't as bad as when the Mime Jr. tried it, and you find yourself in another part of the area. Two Ekans watch you from different trees while a small group of three Treeko dash away. A Skorupi and Paras fight over some tubers, while a Seviper slithers away from you.

The Venomoth is still confused and bats against Athene in his confusion (-6/-5).

The Forrettress looks pleased in a grim sort of way, as if taking pleasure in doing the job it had been assigned to do oh so many years ago when it lived among the world of men. He makes sounds that remind you of a gun sliding out of its holster and its eyes glow slightly as it prepares to attack.

Edea and Judge are pumped to be battling again. They both concentrate to form 6 copies of themselves. Forret doesnt like the fact that it looks like hes outnumbered and lashes out with Hyper Beam, a wide powerful beam. The beam takes out two of Edea's copies, and one Judges, plus Judge himself! Judge is now exposed as being the real one and his copies dissipate.

Edea sees the need for Speed and focuses up an Agility, while Judge decides to get a bit of revenge and fires off a Confuse Ray at Forret. Its successful! Forret must recharge! And now hes confused as to why.

Edea is revelling in the fact that hes fast as shit and he runs up like a cocky bastard to karate chop the forretress with a Brick Break. Judge provides backup with a well placed Thunderwave. The forret is confused AND paralyzed, but still manages to fire off a Zap Cannon. It takes out one of the Edea doubles and strikes Judge full on. The Forretress plops down right after however, feeling its muscles cramped and its head ringing.

Edea use your ability Master Thief (Agility+Thief) to get that Ultra Ball back to me, then cover your eyes, because Judge, immediately after your using Flash! Then teleport us out of the building; away from Forretress. If for some reason Edea’s Master Thief doesn’t work, use flash, Light Screen, then Thunder. Edea use Reflect if you’re Thief fails.”
The girl pauses, hoping her plan will work. “If we get away, well, you guys take a break to get some energy back..”

The Area:

The Journey:

The fight goes on, both combatants look winded and tired, but neither are willing to give up. The Torkoal runs and slams into Sushi with his shell (-7/-8). With the water still around the field, Sushi controls it and washes it over the Torkoal, and putting out some of the brush fire (-8/-13).

Sushi's feeling good, and he tries to unleash another attack, but his muscles lock up from the strain of the last attack. The Torkoal takes his chance, spiting out a jet of flames (-8/-4).

The Torkoal, on the offensive now, slams into Sushi one more time (-7/-9). The blow manages to shock Sushi enough to expell a jet of bubbles right into the Torkoal's face (-7/-10)

The Torkoals in range, you throw the Pokéball. It connects, and in a burst of light and energy it splits in half. As the Fire Tortoise is energized and is encased as the two halves of the ball come together. The ball shakes for a tense moment before it stops. Then it disappears.

You are confused before your Pokédex beeps with a message. It's from the Safari Zone Receptionist Desk.

Congratulations on your capture. Our sensors indicate you have Great Ball on your person. Please enjoy the rest of your Safari Zone adventure. You may collect your newly caught Pokémon when you are finished.

With your group repositioned, you have a better chance to catch the Venomoth. It thrashes around in confusion (-6/-7). Athene just retaliates with a slow and big yawn (-3).

Athene then presses the attack as a faint aura surrounds her before the Venomoth is gently settled to the ground despite his struggling (-8/-13). The Venomoth's sleepiness and confusion just add to its discomfort (-5, -6).

Athene continues to hold down the Venomoth until he finally passes out (-6). With it sedated and sleeping, you let the Great Ball fly as it hits the snoring Venomoth.

The ball splits, surrounds the Venomoth, and then encapsulates it. The ball shakes for a few tense seconds, before the ball freezes and dings, before it disappears.

You stand looking in confusion for a bit, before you hear a familiar “Mime mime” behind you. It's the Mime Jr. here to take you back to the Safari Receptionist.

You get closer to the Dugtrio as it watches you with respect. After a moment it begins to speak, and The Tower translates for you. It seems the Dugtrio is the King of all the Digletts of the area and he wishes to thank you for removing the threat of the Geodude. She wasnt outright malicious but her games gave the Digletts no rest, and the endless pounding of the ground was starting to break down the diglett tunnels below ground. He appreciates what youve done or him and his people and says that the Geodude will benefit from having a strong willed trainer like yourself. He has one last tip for you in return for the kindness you have done for him and his people---Inside the buildings to the right of you is an elevator that will take you down the mine shaft and to a cave which leads directly to the bottom of the quarry. He says he hears the loud bellowing of Golem and other pokemon down there. But he says that there is a code needed for the elevator, and that he does not know what it is. Finally with a nod at you from his three heads he burrows down into the ground again.
The buildings stand to your right, the Mankey and the Makuhita are still sparring near the path which leads downward. Most of the other pokemon have fled from the previous battle.

Sushi (m), Piplup

"Yay!!" Asi exclaimes. "Good job Sushi, we have a new friend!" Touching the Great Ball at her side she resolves to save it for something truely extraordinary. Shes having way too much fun for it to be cut short now. "Come on Sushi lets gather these plants and head back to the Onyx." Asi gathers an armful of the plants and heads back down the path towards the Onyx. Stopping in her tracks she turns towards the smouldering plants. "Um...one last thing, Sushi please put out that fire with a Mud Slap. Then go ahead and Rest, Ill carry you." Sushi nods, and Asi waits for the fire to go out and for Sushi to fall asleep before continuing onward.

"Hmmm," Ben looked over at the building to his right. A golem? What would one be doing down there? And more importantly, what would they have been mining there? He was curious as to why the Dugtrio told him this, but figured it might be for the best. Calling back his Gyarados, He began to walk towards the building, giving the Mankey and Makuhita a nod as he went past.

A tall mountain out of the main village. Expect a variety of rock, ground and fire types to be seen among the road to the summit. Can you unlock the code to get into the Archives?

The Journey:

With the Torkoal added to your collection, you start sifting through the remaining plants, gathering what you would consider to be a dose large enough for the Onix body size. You notice the fire still isn't out and ask for Sushi to knock the rest out with an aimed Mud Slap. With seeing how the Piplup did in the fight, and how much Sushi's in pain, it follows your notion and you hold him carefully as he makes a nice bed in your arms with the leaves.

You start the long trek back, but can you make it while Sushi naps?
