Cool! It's mainly so that I don't waste an ultra ball that could be used when I eventually reach Giratina, if I reach it that is. I want a few as a backup for situations like this

I am pretty sure this has come up before and the answer was no. You can't buy more balls when in mid adventure.

    But that may have changed.

I consulted DL and buying balls partway through a trip and he says it's not allowed. Cueball, that means your trip is basically almost over, but Cynder... I say don't worry and catch Skarmory if you want to. Basically, if you're in a situation where it's you vs. Giratina and you have just one Ultra Ball left, I'm not going to ref it so the ball breaks or gets lost or something douchey like that and you therefore have to start over. You'll be fine.

    ‡ Round 66 ‡

Aikoku flies back up to the edge and starts whipping up a terrific Whirlwind. The attack manages to keep Raticate and Weezing at bay long enough for Yami to climb back up onto the ledge. Phew! While this happens, you aim your Pokeball at the tossing waters and shoot out a beam of red light. The beam passes through the water, but can't seem to get a lock on Yurei.

Once Yurei is in a good spot, he starts lashing out with Night Daze after Night Daze after Night Daze. They all strike Raticate, leaving him rather, well, Dazed. Aikoku, meanwhile, woos Skarmory with an Attract before striking the gruesome twosome with a Rock Slide.

While Skarmory finds herself temporarily paralyzed with love for your smexxy Braviary, Raticate puts his hands over his head as if expecting something. Suddenly, Weezing begins glowing a brilliant shade of white and you, anticipating something bad, swan-dive from Aikoku's back into the water below. Even as the water presses in on all sides you hear the Explosion go off, injuring your Pokemon.

You peer around for any sign of Yurei. Soon, you see her at the bottom, floundering. One of her tails seems to be stuck under a rock.

    ‡ Round 228 ‡

Bellossom stumbles, Confused. Nonetheless, she pulls it together long enough to drape a silvery veil of energy over her body. Celebi watches and spits out a tiny ball of red light which speeds toward Bellossom and begins wrapping itself around her, limiting her in some way you can't quick pinpoint.

However, the answer comes with the next action: Bellossom tries to use Ingrain, but can't. The move simply doesn't work. Celebi uses this opportunity to zap Bellossom with a Thunder Wave, but the Safeguard keeps her safe. Suddenly, the Confusion becomes too much: instead of attacking Celebi, she merely strikes herself in the face with a quick jab. Celebi watches curiously and performs another Nasty Plot.

    ‡ Round 229 ‡

Bellossom gives her head a shake, ridding herself of Confusion. Suddenly, she begins chanting to herself under her breath, coating her vulnerable areas with a magical barrier. Celebi, however, appears unperturbed by this tactic and closes her eyes. She begins humming melodically as she calms her mind, gaining key stat boosts in the process.

While her opponent is vulnerable, Bellossom lashes out with not one but two Leaf Storms. However, the typing doesn't seem to be in Bellossom's favour and the moves don't do a whole lot. All the while, Celebi keeps meditating.

Suddenly, Celebi's eyes go wide and she springs into action. She unleashes an incredibly powerful Signal Beam at Bellossom, launching your little Grass-type into a copse of bracken. What a strike!

You summon Sketcher into battle. The Safeguard transfers to him, granting him immunity to any statuses. Celebi, however, opts not to inflict one and instead generates a protective Safeguard of her own. Thus, as the Flamethrower crackles against her, there's no chance of a Burn. Fortunately, her heightened Special Defence blocks out a little bit of the attack.

Sketcher keeps the flames a-comin' and Celebi merely endures them. Suddenly, once she's had enough, she lashes out with two Hidden Powers. The Water-type energy connects with Sketcher, knocking him backward more than a tad.

    Sketcher's Safeguard flickers out.

Just as things start to look like they might be going your way, Celebi swoops in and begins draining health from Sketcher. Her monstrous Special Attack stat causes her to drain quite a bit from your poor Smeargle, who paints a big, shiny lightbulb which emits a blinding Flash. Though Celebi is dazed, she manages to continue draining health. Sketcher lets off a second Flash.

At this point, Celebi lets go. Though she could continue Giga Draining, she decides to try a different tactic. She waits for the third Flash before establishing a mental link with Sketcher.

Just like that, her eyesight returns to normal; her stat boosts, however, vanish.

Now that Sketcher's health has reached critical levels, you decide to sub her out of harm's way and replace her with Pachirisu. However, Paralysis kicks in immediately, leaving her unable to do a thing as Celebi closes her eyes. Suddenly, the sun begins to shine impossibly bright over the clearing, causing the mist to dissipate. She follows this up with a mighty SolarBeam, sending Pachirisu tumbling away into the undergrowth.

However, she pulls herself up and scurries toward Celebi. She sinks her teeth into Celebi's foot with a mighty Hyper Fang before exerting even more pressure as the attack transitions into a Super Fang. Once again, Celebi attacks with a SolarBeam. Poor Pachi looks pooped, but at least Celebi's Safeguard has faded.

Suddenly, she notices a gleaming object half-buried at the foot of a raspberry bush...

I'll save Yurei of course! Move the rock, and myself and Yurei can swim back up to the surface. Yami, keep up the good work and use a barrage of Focus Blasts at Raticate, and Aikoku keep alluring Skarmory, but hit her with some Rock Slides.

A play battle? Okay, that'll be fun.

Bruiser start out with a Fire Punch, transtion to an Ice Punch, then move back into a Fire Punch.

Woahshit Yami return. Aikoku come down and get Yurei and I, and from Aikoku's back Yurei can fire a load of flamethrowers towards Skarmory. Take us up to the top, and Aikoku continue to use Rock Slide on Raticate this time.

    CUEBALL'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    ASB Archive: Interior
Insects and creepy-crawlies hang around the very ancient archive. Being quiet is key, for you may startle the Pokemon.

    ‡ Round 61 ‡

You agree to a battle and send Bruiser in to do some quick damage. However, Joltik's face quickly transitions from adorable and mischievous to creepy and Unnerving as her ability comes into play. As a result, Bruiser is unable to strike, leaving Joltik free to drench him with a splat of Gastro Acid. Eww. All of a sudden, Bruiser feels a lot less Gutsy.

Once he's able to attack again, Bruiser comes in close for an Ice Punch. The attack does reasonable damage and sends Joltik skidding across the ground. She retaliates by cutting loose with a sudden Thunder Wave, inducing Paralysis. Bruiser's whole body locks up, rendering him once again vulnerable. Joltik spits an Electroweb at him, electrocuting him nicely.

    How do you proceed?

    CYNDER'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Shinsuke Volcano
This Volcanic Island - previously hidden away can now be seen from the shore. A massive pool of magma lies deep in its center, but one can walk down quite a ways and find a variety of Fire Types enjoying the heated tunnels. Some hardier Flying Pokemon line the edges of the Volcano as well. A tall Pagoda stands on the Island as well, the only man-made structure here.

    ‡ Round 68 ‡

You intelligently recall Yami to his Pokeball before summoning Aikoku down to you. You climb out of the water and back onto your Braviary's back as he soars back up to the ledge. Yami Flamethrowers the living shit out of Skarmory, inflicting a nasty Burn in the process, while Aikoku Rock Slides Raticate like there's no tomorrow.

The armoured bird retaliates with a barrage of Night Slashes against Yami while Raticate hits up Aikoku with an Ice Beam and a Hyper Beam.

    ‡ Round 62 ‡

Bruiser strikes the Bug with another Ice Punch, sending shivers through her body. She retaliates with a physical hit of her own in the form of a Poison Jab. In fact, she even manages to land a second as Bruiser's body locks up with Paralysis once again. She chirps in delight.

Bruiser lashes out with another frigid hit while Joltik, on the other hand, attacks with a Leech Life. Given the typing, it does very little.

Aikoku, Aerial Ace Raticate to finish it off and then return. Yurei, use Flamethrower until it's HP gets below 10, I'll chuck an Ultra Ball into the fray.

    ‡ Round 63 ‡

Bruiser starts off ready to attack, but Paralysis rears its ugly ahead again. Is there no escape? Joltik takes this opportunity to let out a piercing Screech. Once his mobility returns, Bruiser fires off a Flamethrower just as Joltik retaliates with a Thunderbolt. The two attacks hit their targets, though the former obviously does more damage.

Joltik now scuttles forth and lashes out with a Cut while Bruiser goes with another Ice Punch. Both Pokemon are starting to look a little tired.

With a speedy Aerial Ace, Aikoku finishes off Raticate. There. Done. You and Yurei dismount and then you recall your injured Braviary to his Pokeball. Now, Yurei is left to deal with that pesky metal buzzard. She fires off a Flamethrower while Skarmory goes for an Air Slash. However, Yurei won't be outdone: with one last Flamethrower, Skarmory's health falls into a critical zone. You're ready with your Ultra Ball and give it a toss. Skarmory gets sucked up inside and the ball falls to the ground.

    Wiggle.

    Wiggle.

    Wiggle.

    Click.

Do do doo, do-do-do-do do dooo!

The ball teleports to the Safari Zone front desk.

Bruiser unleashes two powerful Fire Blasts before Paralysis once more gets the best of him. The heat proves to be too much for Joltik, however, as she sustains a nasty Burn. She retaliates with a trio of Thunderbolts, but it's becoming apparent that she won't be able to handle too much more of this.
