Round Twenty



You figure continuing to attack the Absol is the best course of action. Rosalinda raises a cold wind that makes you shiver and Absol curl up to avoid the biting frost. Whilst the pokemon fight you shout up to the flying pokemon.

"Hey, do you know why Absol is attacking me? I haven't done anything wrong!"

The three birds (or two birds and weird mexican mountain art thing) circle around your head for a moment.



"You're in his territory!"
"You're stealing his stuff!"
"You've stood in his packed lunch!"

That last one seemed a bit weird. You look down and see something thick, orange and gooey all over your shoes. You follow the tracks you've left back to a paper bag which looks like it had Poffin and some nibbles in it. The mist covering the ground must have obscured it from your vision, but it's obvious that you've been standing in it for some time. Oops!

A growl behind you sounds different to Absols. Slowly you turn and see that one of Absol's friends has arrived.



Now what..


- Fight Absol and Houndour
- Try to reason with them
- Call out to someone for help
- Run away!
- Lie down in your grave and admit defeat..

Woah, Rosalinda, stop the attacks. Absol, why didn't you say so? I'm sorry I messed up your lunch. I'm also sorry I'm in your territory, and I'll leave and put your stuff back where it was. If it means anything, I was only looking for something to offer to the ghosts so they leave me alone.

I'll also return Rosalinda to show I mean no harm.

Round Twenty-One



Upon realising you're dragging food everywhere, you order Rosalinda to stop attacking, and recall her to your pokeball. Your over apologetic tone seem to get Absol's attention and he stops growling at you. The Houndour pads around sniffing things.

"You stood in my lunch and then had the nerve to ask me how I was doing!" Absol snarls "Can't a guy dig graves in peace?"

"I thought the gates were locked, tonight was supposed to be trainer free." Houndoom chimes in "How'd you think he got in?"

"Uhm. A Poochyena showed me a way through the fence?" You explain. Absol grimaces and howls again. A few seconds later, a little Poochyena comes bounding through the woods and skids to a halt when he spots you.



"Merv, did you show this trainer how to get in?"

"Uhm.. yeah I think I did."

"What have I told you about tricking humans into the yard? You are grounded young man."

"Aww dad!! C'mon!"

"No excuses this time. Go back to your mother, I will deal with you later when I have finished work. Elvins will go with you."

The Poochyena sulks, but mopes back into the forest with Elvins the Houndour close behind. When they are gone, Absol turns back to you.

"I work here as a Grave Digger, I help carve out these graves for all the trainers who come and go through the various league locations. I've been working all day, so I was looking forward to my lunch break, only to be disturbed by you (and I wasn't expecting any humans today) and find you standing on my lunch. You upset me, and I guess I just flew off the hook a little."

"UHm." You start "I'm really sorry about your lunch, I'm just trying to find a gift for the ghosts so I can attend their ceremony."

"Oh that? Huh, well you best be quick, the moon is almost overhead it'll be starting soon. Those things in your arms. I'd appreciate the gold nugget back please, that's my pay cheque for the month. You can keep the rest."

Absol glances over his shoulder and then back at you.

"If you go along this path, you'll be able to find your way to the ceremony."

- Attack Absol, steal his gold nugget, bury him in your own grave and run off

Round Twenty-Two

Leaving Absol to his work, you carry on up the path that was suggested to you. In the distance, you can hear drumming again, and a muffled chanting noise. After a little uphill trekking you come to a fork in the road. Looking along the right hand path, it goes up a steep slope and then vanishes down the other side where you can't see any further. The chanting is coming from this direction. The left hand path gets narrower and disappears into the old forest again, where the drumming sounds like it's coming from.

Round Twenty-Three

Figuring that chanting is your best bet, you follow the path to the right. The hill is a bit steeper than it looked, and you end up climbing on your hands and knees but you finally get to the top. You poke your head up over the rise and peer down the incline on the other side. A stone shrine has been built, and near it, four pokemon are standing in a circle. They have their eyes closed, but are all holding hands, swaying back and forth and chanting a low ominous sounding song.



In the middle of the circle is a shape drawn on the floor, and in the middle of the shape is a strange looking stone.







The four pokemon continue to sway and chant, and the stone begins to glow.

- Stay hidden and keep watching
- Try talking to them (because it worked so well last time)
- Turn around and head towards the drumming instead

Round Twenty-Four

Even though you recalled Rosalinda (hint) you tell her to stay calm, and the pokeball on your hip wobbles slightly to confirm she can still hear you. Thankfully she has been resting and restoring both health and energy, meaning she's ready for anything that will happen next. You continue to watch the four pokemon as they perform their ritual.



"...ritus..."

"...spiritus monumentum..."

"...immolat utriusque..."

"...imago tenebrarum..."

"...resurrectionem..."

"...lapidem..."


The words seem familiar, as if they have been taken from someone else's Safari Zone adventure, but they are completely different. As you watch, the stone starts to rattle and glow a little more, but suddenly stops. The pokemon chant louder and look like they're concentrating harder, but the stone doesn't react.

"...spiritus...

...lorem ipsum...

...it's not working...

The Haunter opens his eyes and sighs. The other pokemon also open their eyes and break the circle. The Gothoritta crouches down and peers at the stone.

"Do you think it doesn't like our chanting?" she asks

"I don't think the words matter." Nuzleaf says "It got just as riled up when we sang Justin Bieber to it."

"Maybe it needs more souls?" Haunter suggests.

"It's meant to have a hundred restless spirits bound to the stone in order for the summoning to work. We gave it a hundred."

"Maybe we should give it some fresh ones."

"Where are we going to find a fresh soul to offer at this time of night?"

"What about that human watching us from the hill top?"

The four pokemon turn to look up at you. Haunter cackles and waves to you, whilst the others just stare. Eep!

- Run away (and hope they don't give chase!)
- Stick around and see what they have in mind
- Get ready to defend yourself

ummmm, I'll reveal myself. maybe we can talk them out of it. If they still want to steal my soul (eep!), I'll send Ralts out and HOPEFULLY the nuzleaf won't help them. Maybe they want something... perhaps the spooky doll?

EDIT: actually, now that I think of it, Ralts can take the nuzleaf pretty easily.

You've been spotted, so running isn't going to help. You stand up, release Rosalinda (just in case), climb over the mound and approach the four pokemon.



"Hi human!" the Haunter says excitedly. "Would you like to offer your soul?"

"Uh, no thanks." you reply "And if you think about trying to take it, I'm prepared to fight back!"

"Fight!?" Nuzleaf squeaks "We don't want a fight! We're pacifists!"

Banette frowns. I guess he doesn't talk.

"We don't fight anyone," Gothorita explains "we get picked on by all the ghosts, so we're summoning a Spiritomb to be our big brother!"

"Yeah we love Spiritomb!" Haunter cries again.

Banette smiles.

"But.. we do need something to offer Spiritomb." Nuzleaf continues. "Do you have anything?"

"Uh, how about this spooky doll?" you ask, taking the doll out of your pocket. Upon closer look, it's face looks a lot like the ominous stone, but with buttons!

"Oh, that's cute!" Gothorita says "but it still needs something to give it a bit of life. Say, a lock of hair?"

- Offer a lock of your hair

- No way, i'm getting out of here!

Round Twenty-Six


You pull out a lock of hair, and tie it securely around the doll, before passing the little voodoo doll to Gothorita. She sits it on the floor of the pentagram where it rests against the Ominous Stone. The four pokemon resume holding hands, and start to chant again. Except for Banette, who obviously doesn't speak, but he seems to be moving his mouth in turn with the others.

"...ritus..."

"...spiritus monumentum..."

"...imago tenebrarum..."

"...lapidem..."

The stone begins to rattle and glow, this time more violently than before. A tiny crack forms at the top and a wisp of smoke starts to escape. It quickly becomes larger before coallescing into a swirling vortex of green and purple energy.



"We did it!" Haunter cries, this guy has had way too much sugar in his life "Spiritomb is here!"

"Spiritomb!" Gothoritta cries "We've summoned you to be our big brother, and protect us from those who would do us ill."

"Protect you?" Spiritomb asks, in a deep, empty voice. "Big Brother?"

Spiritomb unleashes a wave of black that hits the four pokemon and knocks them all down. The wave is about to strike you when Rosalinda defiantly throws up a shield to protect you.

"Why would I protect weak things like you. The last sacrifice you offered was full of strength and passion, the perfect fuel for me to take back what was mine! Nothing will stand in my way!!"

- Stand in his way
- Run off and get a change of pants

*Steps up bravely* I don't think so, Spiritomb.
It was a lock of my hair that brought you to life, so I reckon you should come with me before you hurt any more innocent pokemon *pulls out great ball*.

Standing before Spirtomb, you feel an overwhelming sense of righteousness.

"It was a lock of my hair that brought you to life, so I reckon you should come with me before you hurt any more innocent pokemon"

You hold a Great Ball in your hands that Spiritomb doesn't seem to acknowledge.

"I've been waiting hundreds of years to be brought back, there is nothing you can do to stop me. These cowards are of no help to you know human, if you intend to stand before me, then you will suffer the consequences!"

"I intend,"

"Truly? I can offer you power, the strength to command others to do your bidding. Have who you want, do what you want. You would turn that down to defend these.. weaklings. Pokemon who cannot defend themselves."

He looks across the pokemon who cower beneath his gaze.

Banette. "Mute"

Haunter. "Dumb"

Nuzleaf "Soft."

Gothoritta. "Plain."

"These pointless things have no place in this world, where the powerful rule on high and the weak are used as slaves. You have strength inside, this is obvious as your soul was able to summon me. Accept my offer, you have no other option"

- Hmm. Sounds like a plan. Can I get Hawaii?
- Are you mad!?
- Rosalinda, show this guy what we think of his offer.

Round Twenty-Eight



You ponder Spiritomb's proposal for a second, before making your decision.

"Rosalinda, Shock Blade manoeuvre!"

Rosalinda begins to crackle with electrical energy, and at the same time creates a leaf out of stored solar and psychic energy. She directs the leaf towards the Odd Keystone, and as it nears the object, zaps it with a thunder bolt, resulting in an explosion of grass and electrical damage that blows up in Spiritomb's face.

"So it's a fight you want?" Spiritomb questions "So be it. When I have finished with you, there wont be anyone left to stop me!"

Four rocks suddenly pop out of the ground, but instead of them being around Rosalinda, they trap you. Stuck inside the rock tomb, you have no way of moving or getting free, forcing you to only watch alone. Luckily you can still speak, but for how long? As you struggle, smoke starts to billow out from the cracks in the keystone, and flood the area, obscuring your view of the battle, and causing you to cough. Rosalinda pads back and forth, ready to attack or defend, but as she was only given two commands she's uncertain of what to do.

A ball of shadows and darkness bursts out of the smoke and slams into Rosalinda, throwing her back into the rock tomb. Spiritomb cackles from somewhere in the smoke. This is going to be tough.

- Keep attacking
- Try to break free
- Rally up some support
- Surrender and become a slave

Rosalinda, link your thoughts with mine. We don't need to speak to know what we're going to do.

Now, let's begin. let's start battling for real. Rosalinda, use teleport to get us out of the rock tomb (if you can't get me out, just get yourself out). Next, let's use will-o-wisp to send out ghostly fires in all directions to try to burn spiritomb. Next, spam icy wind to get rid of this smoke.

Round Twenty-Nine



Gritting your teeh, you start to think your commands instead of speak them. Ralts is so close to you as a pokemon can be with their trainer, that she instantly picks up on your mental commands. Since she only hit the rocks, and wasn't planted inside them, she focuses and teleports you, placing you near Haunter who is still whimpering on the floor with his hands over his eyes. Spiritomb catches Rosalinda unawares with another Shadow Ball, but she retaliates by sending a ring of ghostly flames out in all directions. A shocked cry means the fire has hit something. From the smoke, a host of verbal insinuations and mindless taunts echo, all of which rattle Rosalinda, and cause her to tighten her fists. She tries to focus, but it's not working, but she still manages to summon a frightfully cold wind. It sweeps across the graveyard and begins to blow the smoke away. At the same time, another wind blows ominously in the other direction. The two forces collide in the middle, and the smoke is sucked up and away like a funnel revealing the two pokemon facing each other.

- Try and find the other summoners

No, I'm not gonna make you fight... Well, not EXACTLY.
All I want you to do is sneak up behind spiritomb while Rosalinda distracts him,
and use hypnosis to put him to sleep.
Don't worry, there's not any likely chance that he'll notice you.

Rosalinda, use thunder wave on spiritomb. Then Spam thunderbolt.

Round Thirty



Rosalinda glitters a little, but is to rattled from previous taunts to be able to go through with the move. Spiritomb cackles, and uses the moment to plot the future. He draws up a battle plan that results in his ultimate victory, and feels a massive boost in ability. Rosalinda growls and lets loose a powerful bolt of electricity which is absorbed into Spiritomb's vortex, and travels down to the Odd Keystone, before shocking him properly. The ghost retaliates with another Ominous Wind, but boosted by his recent plotting, the sickly wind knocks Rosalinda over and sends her skitting across the ground and into a tree stump.

Whilst this is happening, you try to talk Haunter into helping you out.

"C'mon Haunter, I need you to sneak up behind Spiritomb and use Hypnosis. Don't worry, he wont see you."

"Nu uh! Nu uh! I'm not doing it!" Haunter cries and sinks into the ground so only his head spikes are visible.

"Stop it!" hisses Gothorita "Don't pick on him!"

Before you can explain, you see Spiritomb hitting Rosalinda from behind with a Sucker Punch, and her barely managing to get a Thunderbolt in before being knocked aside once more. This battle is very close to the wire..

- Keep attacking

- Cry

I'm sorry, I don't mean to get testy here, but my pokemon is at a SERIOUS disadvantage, going up against a dark type when she's a psychic type, and it would help if that damn spiritomb could go to sleep! You guys also are the ones that caused this in the first place, and I'm trying to fix it!

I'm not asking for much, but it would help immensely. I know you're pacifists, but it would seriously help your image if you helped take down a powerful pokemon like spiritomb. Maybe it would even help to get those bullies off your backs?

Rosalinda, keep up with the thunderbolts, and keep aiming for the stone base, but use shadow sneak to dodge attacks.
(I'm also seriously questioning how a pokemon without arms can use sucker punch xD)

Sucker Punch is the American name for the attack, it's original name was Sneak Attack. That's why Sucker Punch isn't powered up by the Iron Fist ability.

Round Thirty-One



Your attempt to convince the four summoners that they can be more than what they are, but it doesn't seem to be working. They just stare at Spiritomb beat the crap out of Rosalinda.

Ralts starts to shoot thunderbolts at Spiritomb with relentless fury, but the phantom is starting to attack her with just as much relentless fury. Two Shadow Balls strike her firmly in the chest, the second one stripping away a layer of her special defence in the process. A third Thunderbolt hits Spiritomb, but this only seems to anger him more. A harsh red glow surrounds Spiritomb, and he suddenly hurtles forward and slams into Rosalinda with a furious impact. Rosalinda is struck by the attack and slams hard into the stone structure, collapsing it completely. She struggles to get back up, and Spiritomb floats above her.

"Weak. Your species has so much potential, yet you possess none of it. I will rid the human of your wasted space, before ridding him of his own."

"No you wont!"

Spiritomb spins around to see the four pokemon who summoned him standing up proudly, defending you and ready to fight.

"You wish to stand before me. I watched you, cowering, shivering, weeping as I have beat this weakling. You who would not lay a hand on your fellow kin, would face me in battle. Do not make me laugh."

"We've been bullied al our lives!" Nuzleaf squeaks "We wont stand by whilst you do it to someone who tried to help us!"

"So be it!"

- Advise the summoners
- Help Rosalinda

All right, guys! let's do this! Rosalinda, you did great. You deserve a rest for now.
Gothorita, use Miracle eye so that psychic attacks work against it!
Banette, use Imprison to stop any more ghost attacks!
Haunter, use a hypnosis to put him to sleep!
Nuzleaf, use Extrasensory!

And, finally, goodbye everybody. GO! POKEBALL! (great ball, I mean xD)

Round Thirty-Two





You dish out advice to the four pokemon, who circle around Spiritomb. The evil phantom looks a little confused when the four pokemon suddenly turn on him, and fails to noticed you creep around to Rosalinda and recall her. Gothorit closes her eyes and summons an eye symbol that embeds itself on Spiritomb's forehead. Spiritomb struggles shake it off, but finds he is now vunerable to psychic attacks. Banette stays silent, and creates what looks like barbed wire out of black energy. The barbs dig into the odd keystone, and Spiritomb is drained of his ability to use the atacks he shares with Banette, including almost all his ghost and dark techniques. Haunter focuses on his eyes, and lulls the phantom into a deep sleep, whilst Nuzleaf finishes by hitting the pokemon with a burst of ethereal psychic control. Spiritomb wobbles and wavrs, when you step up and throw the Great Ball at it.

Wiggle.. wiggle.. wiggle..

You stare at the ball as it wiggles around on the floor.

wiggle.. wiggle..

Spiritomb does not want to be caught.

wiggle..

Come on!

Click!

The Great Ball seals up and Spiritomb is caught! The four pokemon cheer and you are engulfed in a group hug. Aww. An Abra appears nearby, looking a little frightened and gestures for you to quickly come, doesn;t look like the park attendant wants to stick around. Waving good-bye, you hear the Haunter speak up.

"Wow! Attacking is fun! Lets go get our own back on those bullies!"

Wait, that wasn't the message you were trying to send! Too late, as you find yourself back at the park entrance.

lol, I'm kind of scared for the bullies now. Those kids can be a pretty good team.

You sprint up the staircase, two steps at a time, with Elegance and Darwin following you and Vigilance flying to the top ahead of you. Her cries alert you to the pokemon's movements and you speed up reaching the top in a few seconds. Ahead of you lies a long wide corridor with a few doors to the sides, and a big ornate (but burnt) looking door at the end. You look to Vigilence, who in turn nods towards the big door at the end. As you approach, you hear noises coming from the doors to the side.

Round Twenty-One

Tearing down the corridor and ignoring anything exciting that might be in one of the side rooms (Men's Toilets on the right and Women's Toilets on the left) the four of you burst through the big doors into the main theatre. This once grandiose room previously held breathtaking displays by the Royal Kanto Ballet, thunderous performances form the Orre Philharmonic Orchestra, death defying acts from Cirque Du Sinnoh. Now, it's but a burnt out room, long abandoned by those who made it what it was. Rows of partially decayed chairs span out in front of a great stage. Various pokemon have taken places in the seats or balconies above, but it's on the main stage where the action is.



Not one, not two, but three Victini's are on the stage, playing with each other. One of them spots you and your pokemon, and all three of them stop to stare at you. All light is suddenly extinguished form the room, and two Mime Jr operate large lamps to spotlight the Victini on stage, and you and your three pokemon.

Round Twenty-Two



Facing off against the three Victini, you decide to show off a few dance moves to distract everyone whilst Vigilance uses her Keen Eye and Foresight to detect the true nature of the legendary trio. Whilst you shake your booty, performing some kind of shuffle, Vigilance focuses on the three fire-mon, and notices a strange fact, One of the Victini is floating ever so slightly off the floor. She lets out a sqwark, alerting you to a disturbance in the force. The Victini on the left jumps up in surprise and throws a sudden and unexpected Will-O-Wisp at Vigilence, enveloping her in flame. Caught out, Victini's form vanishes into that of a Yamask, which stares at you with it's evil red eyes. The other two Victini growl and allow Yamask to sit between them.



Vigilance batters her body with her wings in a failed attempt to extinguish the flames, whilst your other pokemon glare right back at the pokemon on stage.

- Attack!
- Uhm... attack?

- Do another Truffle Shuffle

You ask the Victini' and Yamask who it was that you were following. The Victini on the right points at the one on the left. The Victini on the left, annoyingly poitns to the one on the right. Yamask shrugs and floats off, clearly bored of the charade.

"What, no clues?"

The two Victini look at each other for a second or two, before taking two steps away from each other. The moment they do, some props fall form the rafters. Helmets land on their heads, and two Smeargle jump out of nowhere. They quickly paint a path on the stage that forks into two, with each part going alongside a Victini. A Mr Mime, dressed as a wizard stands between the two and starts speaking.

Mime mime mime mime mime mime. Mime mime mime mime mime, mime mime mime mime mime. Mime Victini mime mime. Mime mime mime, mime mime mime. Mime mime mime mime, mime mime mime mime mime mime mime? Mime mime mime mime mime mime mime? Mime mime, mime mime mime mime.

Mimedalf looks at you and sees a confused face. He fidgets slightly then starts to speak in broken English.

You are fork in road. To one road is good, to the other is dead. Two Victini are guard. One am truth, one do lie. You ask one question, but who answer and what they say? What you ask to find right road? Choose right, you find your answer."

The Victini smiles, and points down the path behind him.
