With a second glance around the room you make a rough mental map of its layout - there are 7 clearly defined piles of leaves and many other, smaller piles of leaves scattered around haphazardly. Through the middle of the piles there seem to be 4 well trodden pathways, each with a number of the holes in the ground blocking the way. The second pathway has a hole far too large to traverse your way across, if you wanted to take that way you'd have to trek through those piles of decaying plant.

Closing her eyes for a second, Buneary tries to take a swift look into the future. "Fire," she says. "I don't know how, or where from, but it feels like we'll see some fire here!" the rabbit's ears droop a little and she speaks with a lowered voice. "I don't like fire..."

Ruskie Tundra
This wide expanse of icy land extends as far as the eyes can see. Rolling snow dunes and harsh hailing conditions make it an idea place for Ice Pokemon, and only the sturdiest of winter loving beasts.


Assuming an immediate battle stance, your faithful Slowking uses three steady jets of flame to herd the normal ice types into a group in the middle of the room, and Piloswine imprisons them with a swift and effective Stealth Rock. The smallest Smoochum of the group tries to shift the rocks with an icy wind, but the attack fails and slicks the ground with a thin layer of sheet ice. The parental mammoths seize the initiative and imbue some of their ancient energies into some rocks that are lying around from the collapse With a symmetrical jab of tusks, the rocks fly over and partially bury the hybrid monstrosity that was once a shiny Jynx.

The rocks remain eerily still for a moment, and the rest of the psychics look on in trepidation at their leader, or, more accurately, at the rocks that he lies underneath. You're ready to guess that you're victorious when suddenly, the rocks begin to glow with a soft pinkish light. You turn to look at them and their glow disappates. They shudder for a second, and then fly dramatically outwards (narrowly avoiding your head!) and reveal the Jynx in all his, er, glory.



His eyes are glowing pure white and his arms hang by his sides. He looks unmistakably furious.

Prospero, I need you to use one attack, Trick Room, then stay back and relax to restore your energy. I know you're eager to help, but you need to be at full strength here. I trust you to get out of dodge if you have to.

Mamaswine and Papaswine glow with a bright white light and let their frustration consume them as the charge straight at GallaJynx, but their compound efforts are wasted as at the very last second he teleports to the other side of the room, and the two mammoths end up locking horns with each other. Luckily they don't take any damage - but GallaJynx is quick to change that by slamming them both into a wall with dual telekinetic attacks. They slump to the ground and groan, but their sounds of displeasure turn into what sounds like the Mamoswine equivalent of cheers of adulation when Piloswine sneaks up behind GallaJynx and hits him with a powerful Stone Edge attack. The spliced pokemon groans.

Behind the scenes, Prospero expends some of the small amount of energy that remains in setting up a Trick Room, turning the tides on the faster Pyschic whose feet now feel like they're attatched to lead weights. On the other hand, the 'Swines feel suriously light and agile.

It doesn't take you long to decide that you'll take the fourth and final pathway, which uncannily does have the least holes but is the longest for the four. You step carefully over one, two, three holes, and have to jump a short distance over a fourth. Oddly, it feels even warmer in here now, and you swear that it's coming from below your feet when-

A short burst of flame shoots straight out of the hole you jumped over, and the flames just about tickle the bottom of your shoes from where your stood. however, they do more than tickle the piles of leaves - they're set alight in just seconds and it won't be long before the entire room is set alight and becomes impassable. Three rounds, to be precise. Buneary panics at seeing the flames and tries to run backwards, but a second burst of flames sends her tearing back to you.

Buneary fends off the encroaching flames with Mud Slaps and Water Pulses as you take a look down the hole that the flames came from. It appears to be a burrow of some sort - maybe it's something living that's creating those flames? You see a dark shape as your suspicions are confirmed when it breathes another stream of fire right at you. You dive backwards just in time, thankful that you still have eyebrows.

You realise that the only way is forwards from here on in - you dart ahead and skip over all of the small holes that appear to have stopped breathing fire. Hot on your heels, Buneary takes over and runs ahead to the end of the pathway, she stands by the room's exit and waits patiently for you to make your way across. Just as you reach the end of the path, a large chunk of earth falls from the roof and blocks your way. Unfortunately for you, it hasn't opened a hole in the roof.

In the meantime. Prospero does just that. Nothing. He needs to get his energy back tout de suite.

Papaswine uses Stealth Rock again on the assorted Jynx and Smoochum to further entrap them. Then piles on GallaJynx with Stone Edge.

Mamaswine piles on the Stone Edge, as many as she can, against Gallajynx.

Piloswine uses Double Team around Gallajynx, then spams Ancient Power. If Galljynx uses Psychic, then he make him forget with Amnesia.

"Effre- oof!" GallaJynx tries to say as he's hit in the gut by a swarm of sharpened stones and sent flying back into a cave wall. He goes to speak and gets pelted once again, so with twin Imprisons he stops the two mammoth Pokemon in their tracks. "You're looking for Effrey?~" In the downtime he fires off a Psychic at Papaswine and mutters a mild obscenity under his breath when he suddenly forgets how to use the move. "Effrey's the one that gave me this potion recipie!~" Once again, GallaJynx is pelted with stones - this time of a different, glowing variety. Papaswine feels himself strengthen considerably.

Meanwhile, the ordinary Jynx and Smoochum make no attempt to break out of their dual-layered rocky prison. They simply appear to be waiting for a command from Gallajynx. Prospero eyes them suspiciously.

In a feat of bravery, Buneary leaps head first into the pile of dirt. It crumbles apart quite easily, but Buneary looks just a little dazed to say the least. Seeing that she tries to nibble at her own arm, you scoop her up in your arms and run to the exit yourself. It's only when you get there that you realise how lucky you were to escape - the room is completely alight and the dense smoke lingers in the air and makes you cough and splutter loudly.

You duck low and run to the next room, but the smoke is encroaching quickly and it isn't long before you're practically gasping for breath due to a combination of exhaustion and exposure to smoke. It feels as though you're about to collapse - but there is literally light at the end of the tunnel. You enter then next chamber and a large stone door closes behind you, trapping you in the opening and the smoke in the previous area. In this room there really isn't a lot around - just a huge pool of sorts filled with a dreamy looking purple liquid. It has an odd, almost airy quality to it, and when you take a closer look you see a small chest at the bottom. At the opposite side of the room is a large wooden door with iron slats and massive hinges. It appears to be locked.

Buneary leaps out of your arms and bounds towards the liquid in wonder. She carefully dips in a forepaw to find the liquid to be pleasantly warm and light to the touch, and when she tries to splash the liquid around a little it dissapates into the air, though the volume of the pool remains unchanged. Curiously enough, the paw she dips into the liquid comes out perfectly dry, as does the ropey branch you dip into it.

In wreckless abandon you decide to dive straight into the pool and swim down to the bottom. It seems strangely easy to get there - the liquid offers little resistance. Suddenly, you see a few small, dark shapes start swimming towards you.



You inhale in shock to find that thankfully, the strange liquid/gas allows you to breathe. Huh. Oddly enough, the Carvanha don't exactly look... solid, either.

You think he's about to attack and have Prospero assume a battle stance, but GallaJynx steps down when he decides he's at a disadvantage. "He doesn't deserve payment, for making me like this! Regardless, I must speak with him~" he spins on the spot and heads for the hole in the ground, crawling unglamourously through with his faithful tribe following behind.

An electric surge flashes through the water at three of the Carvanha; they're shocked for a moment before they disappear. Huh. However, they're not quite intangible as one of them comes up behind Buneary and nips her with a Bite attack, and Buneary takes it out with another Thunderbolt.

"Bad news;" she says apprehensively. "There's more."

Right, back to business. Family 'Swine. Hello! It's so good to see you! First of all, thank you so much for your help, that wacky Jynx caused me a bit of trouble earlier on, and it sounds like he caused you some too. I think if I hadn't been able to convince him he was getting into trouble we'd have beaten him anyway.I've seen your youngsters, two brown and one grey Swinubs. They're being looked after by a Machop and a Lopunny, but I think getting back to them asap would be best.

Three more electric shocks fly through the liquid like a hot knife through butter and take out the Carvanha, who vanish upon defeat just like the others. You swim deeper and make it to the bottom of the pool fairly quickly, but at the bottom is another Pokemon for you to defeat. And this one doesn't look quite so transparent.

Within just seconds the hole Prospero dug is covered in a thick, impenetrable layer of clouded ice. Completely opaque. Nothing's about to get into, or out of, that hole any time soon, not without some significant firepower.

"You know where they are? They're well?" Mamaswine asks impatiently, it's evident just by looking at her that she was worried sick about her young.

Papaswine is slightly calmer, but equally as eager to see his other children once again. "You said they're being looked after by a Machoke and Lopunny, correct? I must thank them, and we owe you our greatest gratitude. But, for now, we all need to get out of here."

At a speed comparable to the lightning she just conjured, Buneary gives Sharpedo a quick slap to the face, the kind of slap that made him shiver and threw him back a good few feet, giving you room to swim deeper and grab the chest. The shark remains immobile, so Buneary uses her lightning abilities once again to lock his muscles in place. Paralysed and flinching, the Sharpedo doesn't look like he's about to move any time soon, and his form starts to shimmer.

You pull the chest from the ground and find that it, like everything else seems to be, is strangely light. When you pick it up you feel a few things rattle around, so it's not completely empty thankfully. It takes just a few minutes for you to reach the surface again, and you haul the chest out of the lake/pool and onto the side, pulling yourself and Buneary up and out afterwards.

You hit a slight snag when you go to open the box, as it appears to be locked. It doesn't look too strong, however, so there's a chance that you could break it.

Buneary sits back and relaxes for a while, but decides to take the Max Ether to bring herself back to fighting shape much quicker. As she continues to relax to bring herself back to tip-top condition, you unfurl the note and read what is written on it. It's largely blank and foxed around the edges, but with some closer inspection you notice near-illegible writing at the bottom.

Ruskie Tundra
This wide expanse of icy land extends as far as the eyes can see. Rolling snow dunes and harsh hailing conditions make it an idea place for Ice Pokemon, and only the sturdiest of winter loving beasts.


Channelling his inner metalbender again, Prospero runs a mental scan on the ground below to search for any concealed tunnels. He shakes his head; it doesn't feel as though there's anything much of concequence down there, only the frigid underground lake that the waterfall leads to and a few other small tunnels that would be far to small for the Mamoswines and even you to traverse.
