"Oh, silly me! Humans can't breathe down here! Of course!" he says as he uses Dive. Another oxygen bubble mercifully surrounds your face and you gasp for breath. "Sorry about that, bucko. I'm not all there sometimes. But hey, we really need to get out of here! Jellicent is gonna come back and feed us to the monster."

I can't get out of here because that Jellicent had just taken all of my Pokemon. They also took my Poliwag and Chinchou a while ago. I would really appreciate it if you would be so kind to try and help me.

Feebas then leads you to the aquatic cave. You swim up a narrow, rocky shaft until you reach the surface. You find yourself in a small pool in the middle of a nondescript cavern. Two passageways lead in different directions and torches line the walls. You see a pair of Skorupi standing guard.



They seemed alarmed by your presence. They then scuttle off, each taking a different passageway. Perhaps they're warning someone or something of your arrival?

"Well, this is as far as I can go considering, y'know, there's no water," Feebas says. "Good luck!"

Time to decide whether to take the left or the right route.

Again, the path forks, this time in three directions. You listen. You hear a strange humming down the first passageway, loud bangs down the second and the distinct sound of muffled sobs down the third.

You backtrack and follow the sound of sobbing. You come upon another torchlit room which is mostly bare except for more bones littering the floor. You also see smears of red on the walls. As well, there, sitting in the middle of the room, is Jellicent.



She's sobbing quite loudly to herself. Oh my.

You see another passageway up ahead. It winds deeper into darkness.

You approach Jellicent and ask why she's crying. Surprised, she looks up.



"It's you!" she says. "The one with the Ralts. Listen, you have to believe me! I didn't want to do that! I'm a good Jellicent. It's just... she made me. She told me... if I didn't bring her Pokemon for her to eat... she would track down me and my family and... and... and... eat us instead."

The sobbing resumes. You're not quite sure who this "she" character is. (You're also not sure how anything could eat a Ghost-type, but you decide not to question that part.)

"There's a monster that dwells deep in these caverns," Jellicent says, snivelling. "She calls herself Mother. She's too hideous to even describe. I ran afoul of her one day while exploring this place. She threatened to eat me but spared my life on the condition that I hunted down Pokemon for her to eat. She said she'd eat me and my family if I didn't. Your Ralts... it's... probably too late to save him. I'm so sorry."

"I'll take you to Mother's den, but I won't go in with you," Jellicent says, nodding. "The idea of what she might do to me is just too much. Come, this way."

Jellicent leads you deeper into the complex. You head down another dim corridor lit by a few torches until you come across the entrance to another cavern, except it's blocked by a large boulder. You crouch down and peer through the gap between the boulder and the wall. There, inside the den, you see half a dozen Skorupi scuttling about. They're keeping guard over prisoners, some of whom look quite familiar. It's a relief to see your partners haven't been eaten.





You can see the prisoners are shackled to the wall. No sign of Mother, but then again, peering through a narrow crack doesn't afford you the greatest vantage point of the entire room. She might still be inside.

You glance back behind you and see that Jellicent has already gone. She's deserted you.

I'll try to recall my Pokemon, especially Ralts, to my Pokeballs from the small gap even though they're faraway. Although it will catch their attention, at least I'll be able to recall them and proceed to the next part of the plan.(If it works)

Getting rather tricksy, you take one of your Pokeballs and fire its narrow beam into the den. The Pokemon in the room gasp as Ralts is returned to your party. You grab another ball and attempt to recall the others, but the Skorupi guards dive forward and block the beam's path. The red light strikes them but does nothing.





"Mother, there's somebody outside the den!" one of the Skorupi squeals.

"They stole one of the snacks you were keeping for later!" another adds.

You hear a pair of unseen voices just on the other side of the boulder respond in unison.

"Don't just stand their, children!" the two hideous voices boom. "Find the intruder! Defend me!"

Why... are there... two of them?

As you summon Ralts from his Pokeball, two of the Skorupi guards squeeze through the gap and brandish their stingers menacingly. You ask Ralts what he saw but, before he can answer, he takes a Cross Poison to the face thanks to one of the scuttling scorpions. He flops over and pulls himself up only to find himself on the receiving end of another Cross Poison from the second Skorupi.

These Bugs mean business.

"Keep at it, my children!" those two demented voices call from inside the den in unison. "Make Mother proud!"

Ralts hops to his feet and decides to fight back. Working quickly to outmaneuver his opponents, he stuns them with a shocking blast of Icy Wind. Then, using his telekinetic powers, he picks up the first Skorupi and sends him tumbling into the second. He finishes the job with another frigid gust. Thoroughly numbed, the Skorupi attempt to untangle themselves from one another. They seem to be having a rough go of it. You've subdued them for now.

"Mother, help us!" one of the Skorupi says weakly.

You hear a pair of furious shrieks echoing from within the den. Suddenly, the boulder blocking the entrance is smashed into one go. You shield you eyes against the ensuing cloud of dust and debris. When it clears, you find yourself face-to-face(-to-face) with... Mother. Flanked by her minions, she gnashes her bloody fangs fiendishly.

Mother lets out a roar and begins charging a humming mass of white energy. She lets the Hyper Beam fly just as Ralts lunges toward you and Teleports you both to safety. You reappear in the den next to the shackled Pokemon and the ground beneath you shakes as Mother's attack takes out a wall just outside. With a swift Fire Punch, Ralts destroys the iron shackle keeping Poliwag immured. Your tadpole Pokemon returns to your party. Ralts turns to Chinchou and prepares to free your remaining Pokemon just as four of the Skorupi dive-tackle him in unison. He lets out a cry and is pinned beneath the four Pokemon. They begin ravaging him with Poison Stings. Ralts emits another cry, letting you know he's been Poisoned.

Meanwhile, Corsola and the other shackled Pokemon try to get your attention.




"Behind you!" Corsola shrieks.

You turn and see Mother peering over you, breathing heavily.

"Get your own food," the two heads say in unison.

Suddenly, Mother picks up Poliwag and pops the tadpole in one of her mouths.

Poliwag, use Icy Wind while inside her mouth. And to make her really want to throw up, Ralts, use Psychic to make her spit out Poliwag. Ralts and Poliwag, use Psychic in unison to fend off the Skorupi. Then finally, Poliwag, use Scald at the Mother while Ralts tries to free the other captives with Fire Punch.

You issue commands to your Pokemon. Still pinned beneath four Skorupi, Ralts isn't able to assist and you watch as Drapion begins chewing Poliwag with a powerful Bite. However, using an Icy Wind, Poliwag manages to bust free from Mother's mouth. Phew! Poliwag and Ralts then use a barrage of Psychic attacks to fling the Skorupi to the far side of the den. However, the little scorpions merely pick themselves back up and continue advancing upon your Pokemon. Continually keeping the many-legged minions at bay with Psychic attacks, Poliwag and Ralts are far too busy to continue fighting Mother or releasing prisoners.

Meanwhile, Mother seems to be recovering from Poliwag's Icy Wind. Letting out a shriek, she picks you up off the ground with her pincers. You feel the pressure of her grip tightening around your abdomen. Uh-oh.

Chinchou, even though you're shackled, try to use Heal Bell to cure Ralts. Then try to use Thunder Wave on the Mother. Lastly, use Aqua Ring to help yourself. Ralts, use Telekinesis and Poliwag, use Ice Beam at the Mother. Poliwag and Ralts, Icy Wind in unison twice.

Even though you're in mortal peril, you command Chinchou to use Heal Bell on Ralts. If that doesn't get you Selfless Pokemon Trainer of the Year, nothing will. Chinchou gives his antennae a shake and a jingling noise fills the air. The Poison afflicting Ralts dissipates. As the pressure around your abdomen becomes almost too much to bear, Chinchou looses a zap of current upon Mother. Her body spasms and goes rigid, letting you drop back down to the ground freely. Finally, Chinchou creates an Aqua Ring that shimmers in the air.

Meanwhile, Poliwag and Ralts turn their backs to the approaching Skorupi horde. Ralts lifts Drapion into the air Telekinetically while Poliwag blasts her with an Ice Beam. The two Pokemon then release howling gusts of frigid wind upon Mother just as her minions pile upon them, attacking with numerous Slashes. Wobbling in the air, Mother lets out an enraged roar and hits Chinchou with twin Dark Pulses. The Aqua Ring comes to life and heals some of that damage.

The other shackled Pokemon look like they want to help.



"Hey, mister!" Shellos says to you. "What do you want us to do?"

Pinned beneath all these blasted Skorupi, Poliwag and Ralts use Psychic to once again fling the little scuttlebugs to the far side of the den. Corsola joins in the effort, knowing full well a Psychic attack won't have any effect on a Drapion. These attacks manage to wrack up some damage and keep the Skorupi at bay... for now.

While this goes on, Chinchou, Stunfisk and Shellos use their fiercest ranged attacks against Mother. She lets out a raging cry as she sheds health by the second. Panting furiously, she sets her sights on Ralts, who's busy attacking her children. With a swift trio of Dark Pulses, she knocks Ralts clear out of the battle. He faints. Taking a cue, the Skorupi combine their efforts and you watch as a volley of Sludge Bombs soars through the air. Poliwag is struck six times and is Poisoned. She's at the cusp of defeat now. Chinchou takes five, Shellos takes four, and Corsola is hit with two and Stunfisk takes one. Chinchou and Shellos are Poisoned as well. This is looking dicey.

I'll return Ralts to my Pokeball. I wonder what happens if I catch the Mother. I'm gonna throw a Pokeball at it and see what happens. Poliwag, use Rest and Chinchou, use Heal Bell afterwards. Poliwag, Corsola and Shellos, use Icy Wind to stall the Skorupi. Chinchou and Stunfisk, stall them some more with Thunderbolt

You return Ralts and issue commands to your Pokemon. Poliwag Rests while Chinchou uses Heal Bell both to immediately rouse the little tadpole and heal the Poison that's afflicting your team. Your Pokemon then use various attacks to drive back the horde of Skorupi. However, the Icy Winds and Thunderbolts doesn't the Bugs from unleashing another devastating assault of Sludge Bombs. Corsola and Stunfisk are struck again and again and again but their Poison resistance keeps them going. Shellos, however, faints.

Meanwhile, you throw a Pokeball at Mother. She's sucked into its cavity and it shakes once before bursting open. The Pokeball flies back into your hand. You then remember that this kind of ball can't be used to capture Pokemon that have evolved. You're going to have to try something a little stronger. Irritated after having been crammed into such a tight space, Mother scuttles toward Chinchou and lays into him with a trio of Poison Jabs. With that, your little anglerfish faints.

I'll be recalling Chinchou back to its Pokeball. I'll try to catch the weak Skorupi with Keen Eye with a Pokeball instead. Poliwag, Corsola and Stunfisk, finish the Mother with Scald, Ancientpower and Thunderbolt respectively.

You return Chinchou. Since you're about to catch a new Pokemon, you turn your hat backwards. (Are you even wearing a hat? If so, it is now backwards. If it was already backwards, it is now forwards. If you are not wearing a hat, you just groped the air around your head and it looked silly.)

Now... Pokeball, go!

You throw the red and white sphere at the first Skorupi. It connects and sucks the little critter inside before twitching on the spot. Wiggle. Wiggle. Wiggle. Click! The ball teleports away.

Your opponents look shocked to see one of their own thwarted. Taking advantage of their momentary surprise, you command a final discharge of attacks. Mother is struck, lets out a wail and slumps over in defeat. The Skorupi look from her to you.

"Anyone else care to stay and get pulverized?" one asks.

"Not me," another responds.

"Yeah, me neither," the first one concludes. "Time to retreat! Let's scram!"

The little Bugs then scuttle away. Phew.

Ralts frees the shackled Pokemon and you make your way back to the entrance of the cavern. There, you find Jellicent waiting. She seems surprised to see you.



"I don't believe it... you're alive!" she exclaims. "You defeated Mother! That's impressive. Oh, the Ivy Council is going to want to see you. Come! Follow me!"

She Dives into the water.

You could follow her if you want. Or not. Whatever.

You decide to follow Jellicent. You hop into the water with a splash and Poliwag uses Dive to provide you with a handy-dandy oxygen bubble. Corsola, Stunfisk and Shellos thank you and depart as Jellicent leads you across Ivy Lake. You eventually reach the far edge of the lake where the muddy lakebed slopes upwards. Jellicent draws back some hanging aquatic plants to reveal an underwater tunnel.



"Wait here," Jellicent says before disappearing down the tunnel. After a few minutes, she returns. "Okay, I just spoke with the Ivy Council. They'd like to see you. Go through."

You enter and swim down the tunnel. You soon come upon a beautiful underwater lagoon where the light of numerous Chinchou reflects off numerous coloured rocks, bathing your surroundings in an iridescent glow. As the Chinchou drift around, you notice five incredibly rare Pokemon in the center of the lagoon. Your heart catches.



"Good day, human," Dragonair says a deep, venerable tone. "A Jellicent has just come along and explained the cause of the recent disappearances. She says you've defeated a terrible beast in Liang's Complex that was coercing her into kidnapping Pokemon. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity. Please, if there is anything we can do to reward your selfless deed, do tell. Whether you would like valuable information about the Safari Zone, an item of some sort or a battle with one of us... if it is in our power, we will grant it to you as a token of our thanks."
