Porygon instantly shoots off a weak electric attack at your kirlia for light damage (-4% - Valentina; -5% - Porygon), but your pokemon remains poised. An icy mist envelops her right hand as she thrusts it into the metal frame of the porygon (-6% - Porygon; -5% - Valentina).

Porygon decides it's time to protect itself, creating a silver veil that wraps around him just before the electric thunderbolt crashes into it (-10% - Porygon; -8% - Valentina). The veil is now destroyed, and Valentina uses her psychic attack to lift porygon into the air (-6% - Porygon; -3% - Kirlia), and fling it into a wall violently (-6% - Porygon; -2% - Kirlia).

Porygon falls to the ground, dejected.

A large plain that overlooks TPML, the grass is soft and the air tasty. A plethora of grass Pokemon are found here as they enjoy the tickling breeze and the bright sunshine. Bird and normal-types are also found here.

It would appear that while Hao is calmer, it has only allowed his mind to be more easily confused. He starts to snap at the air and twirls about, not knowing how to do anything just whirling about as his mind goes to places unknown. Pidgeotto smirks and dives at him, her body glowing just slightly white. She smacks into his back and he grunts, and snarling in irritation. It didn't hurt too much, but it was quite annoying.

Then, Pidgeotto noting how his nostrils are smoking suspiciously dives at the ground. Totally out of character she lands, Hao hot on her tail. He spews a stream of flame at her as he lands and she shrieks with pain. Afterward she is a very smoky bird but Hao blinks as he suddenly sees double and then, a rather stiff Pidgeotto, just sitting on the ground. He blinks but shrugs, and blasts it with flame once more. She does nothing, just sits there blinking at him.

Meanwhile the real Pidgeotto is flying above him, snickering. She is eyeing you however but she dives at Hao, and, her wings glowing, slams him across the chest with, leaving a wide gash. He roars in pain but as he looks down to glare at Pidgeotto, she is still just blinking at him. He snorts, annoyed. Suddenly the Sub is destroyed as Pidgeotto herself comes down claws first and it shatters. She then flies over to you (and over a nonplussed Hao) and lands at your feet, bowing and chirruping happily.

You toss the ball, pleased yourself and she gets sucked in and it dings without a single shake. Chidori is laughing at Hao flummoxed expression, as a Kadabra appears to take you back to the office and collect your Pokémon. You thank your Pokémon for all their help and return them. Kadabra walks over to you and touches your sleeve and the next second you are back at the office. You thank him and walk to the front of the office and joyfully pick up your two other Pokémon.

A small cove-style beach. There are lots of ocean pokemon to be found here, as well as Fire types enjoying the sun. Some ground types can also be found.

You can't reach the Rod so you get Blade to fly up and he snaps it in his mouth, flying back down and you take it from him with thanks. As you walk down the beach toward the trap you see a Wingull shadow pass over the beach followed closely behind by a very weird shadow. You look up and see its a Vibrava, chasing the Wingull, but the Wingull just seems amused. Suddenly to your right the sand rises up sharply and a Dugtrio appears, snorting at you and your Pokémon before moving on.

Recovering from your surprise you get to the trap and peer down, you can just make out the Trapinch at the bottom, so well hidden is she. You hear some angry shouting to your left and you gaze further up the beach. A Rapidash and Quagsire are shouting angrily at each other, looking to be on the brink of a battle. A Sandshrew is near the tree line, watching them with interest.

You press on, knowing for sure that what you seek will show up soon. A Kriketot[M] munches on some grass and perks up as he sees you. Yana looks up at you for guidance when a sound catches her ears. A greenish blur darts behind a tree and peeks out at you, a timid Leafeon[F].

Well crud. If i had a great ball i know exactly who i'd be going after, but unfortunately i only have a pokeball. Hmmm... Let's see here. I'll have Yana to use odor sleuth to see if Leafeon might have some kinfolk hiding neary by. If so, we'll go from there and if not i'll wave at her and see if she would like to explore with the two of us till i find what i'm looking for.

Along the way up, you spot several unfamiliar pokemon, including a young piplup (f) hobbling around. Meanwhile, a snorunt (f) sits in the snow peacefully.

A snover (m) runs around in circles, being chaced by a small raticate (m), oddly enough.

Wandering up the cool mountain pass, you spot a dormant ski lift that'll take you to the precipice of the mountain, while on the opposite side of the ski lift is a cavern where pokemon go to get warmer.

In the sky, you catch a glimpse at a starly (f) soaring through the air peacefully. A shiny snorunt (m) hobbles around in the snow, being chased by a swinub (m).

What will you do?

Grey: Hmm Chiclet let's see if they will just let us leave. If not . . . ask them just what they want.

You send in Ziz to start up a battle with the Trapinch. Meanwhile Blade flies over and starts talking with the two Pokémon. They turn to him and start yelling at him. The Rapidash is tossing his head and the Quagsire is slapping the water with his tail he is so annoyed. Scyther eventually gets the story out of them, (the Quagsire's son had Water Gunned the Rapidash's daughter when she was playing near the surf). Blade makes the point that neither was hurt and the Wooper has certainly learned his lesson (a kick in the head) so they should just move on. The Rapidash snorts smoke and the Quagsire looks ready to fire a Water Gun but they nod curtly and go their separate ways, still annoyed but not going to attack another, for now.

Ziz turns to her opponent and lands on the edge of the crater, the Trapinch watching him warily. He opens his mouth and begins the screeching noise when the Trapinch leaps up out of her hole and smashes into his stomach. He is thrown back, and hits the sand, but the bonus was that the Trapunch rushed right into his Supersonic, making her utterly confused. The sand cusioned his fall anyway.

The next turn the Trapinch is out of her hole but repeated whacking her head against the sand, and even running off into the surf, causing good damage to herself. While she toddles about, hurting herself Ziz shakes his head but then focuses on her. His eyes glow red and the light shoots out from them and sweeps over the Trapinch, locking on to the bumbling Pokémon.

Now the Trapinch stops hurting herself and just sits on the sand, trying furiously to remember any attacks at all she can use. Nothing comes to mind and she shakes her head irritably. Suddenly she looks up at a bright light and sees a great ball of energy growing in Ziz's mouth. She chomps her mouth in fear and tries to run but the sand is just giving her purchase. Ziz fires, a beam zooming with a strange twang sound and smashes into the little Pokémon. She goes flying down the beach, groaning.

Blade, your on support if we need you. I think Ziz (who is Male btw) can handle a Trapinch... so long as the Flygon and Vibrava flying around don't turn out to be related.

Ziz, chill for the first turn, keep your eyes on the Trapinch. Use a burst of Agility and then combo it with a quick strike from an Ice Fang, keep her in your mouth as much as you can.

The Quest
Discouraged by your lack of inventory you order Yana to approach the skittish fox in hope of catching another scent. As Yana closes in, ears back, tail low to show it means no harm, a glint of light catches your eye. You look down at a half buried sphere pokes out of the ground. Curiously you kick it up out of the dirt and beam from ear to ear as a Great Ball stare at you. Yana Gingerly sniff the Leafeon who shivers at the spotted hound. Out of fear it leaps back and lowers into attack mode...

What will you do?

*grins* I'll pick up the great ball and then tell Yana change of tactics. We're going after leafeon. I'll have Yana start with smog and then use an odor sleuth to pinpoint her location and finish with sludge bomb.

"OK, Grey," your oh-so-competent guide says as he pockets your seven points and leads you outside the Safari Zone HQ, "you know the drill. You can browse around, catch Pokemon, blow stuff up... Generally do whatever you wanna do until you either run out of Safari Zone brand Poke Balls ('They're Safari-riffic!' TM) or until you've walked 500 Rounds - whichever happens first."

You nod like the silent bad-ass trenchcoat-wearing type of guy you are as you're handed a Great Ball and an Ultra Ball. Your guide then removes a remote control from his pocket and presses a button; a large green warp pipe pops out of the ground. The two of you enter it (You do so a bit hesitantly.) and a second later, you're greeted by a harsh flash of sunlight - you've emerged at the daunting Crush Quarry.

Spread out before you is a colossal stone canyon, which you seem to be near the top of. Off to your left is a steep, avalanche-y looking incline that must lead to the base of the canyon, to your right is a not-so-steep slope leading towards the top of the Quarry, and dead ahead of you are several bizarre rock formations, a few of the more distant of which are emitting sounds like one might hear at a construction site.

Strewn about the Quarry, in addition to rocks, rocks, Chris Rock, rocks, rocs, Dwayne Johnson, rocks, Rock Lee, rocks, and more rocks, a few hardy Pokemon can be seen milling about. A family of Geodude and Graveler are clinging to the side of a rock formation, evidently sunbathing, and further down the canyon, you catch a glimpse of a hungry Mawile tearing into the carcass of a fresh kill - possibly a Phanpy, but it's hard to say at this point...

As you glance around, a small Sandshrew scampers up to you. Evidently the welcoming committee here, the little bugger chitters and holds up a gift in his stubby paws.

...It's a rock. Perfect...

A little disappointed at the lack of rare Pokemon out and about on this part of the canyon, you decide to venture further down into the Quarry. Ignoring the Sandshrew and his gift offer, you wander down the steep path overshadowing the vicious little Mawile below and press onward, eventually reaching a small tunnel in the rock. Curious, you decide to have a look around inside.

Being a rocky tunnel, there's little of interest here besides the typical stone formations - stalactites, stalagmites, columns, cones, and shelves of rock. The tunnel itself is very short - light filtering in from the opposite end is clearly visible, no more than 50 feet away.

As unremarkable as this place is, though, there are a few Pokemon inside. The first one you notice is a Dugtrio popping out of a few holes in the ground, much to the annoyance of a playful (or perhaps hungry) Aron who is trying to catch her... them... whatever. Further down the tunnel, a lone Larvitar is sleeping on a stumpy rock.

You look around the tunnel some more, clearly disappointed with the mediocrity of the wildlife here, but a sudden movement at the far end of the tunnel catches your eye. You quickly look over, spotting a rare Marowak swinging her bone about like a sword, the fierce Pokemon's motions almost hidden from view by a curtain of stalagmites. She looks deep in thought, evidently not yet having noticed your arrival.

What now?

As tempting as Marowak is, she's not what I'm here for; perhaps if I find another great ball along the way, I'll return, but for now, let's head towards that light.

Dejected, you, Edea and Judge leave the shelter of the cavern and make your way towards the ski lift. Along the way, you see a pair of piplup (m+f) hobbled close together.

Ignoring them, you step onto the ski lift with your pokemon as it slowly lifts up towards the mountain's precipice. A skarmory (f) flies through the air, sharing the skies with a starly (m).

You finally reach the top of the mountain, and see another cavern with a snover (m) standing next to his mother, an abombasnow (f).

Perplexed, you and your dratini, who was presently wrapped around your leg tightly, begin your long trek up the mountain. You've been told that you can find a few rock pokemon here, as well as the archive building, so with your curiosity peaked, you head up the mountain.

Along the way, you catch a glimpse at a geodude (m) hovering in the air, collecting rocks and what-not, perhaps to build a fort. A diglett (m) burrows next to the rock fort, bringing a few more rocks with him to help.

To your left, you spot a phanpy (f) rolling around haphazardly, enjoying the sunshine. A gligar (m) and a starly (f) soar through the air above you.

What will you do?

Still not satisfied with any of the Pokemon you've seen so far, you decide to leave the tunnel behind in favor of the outside of the Quarry again.

You're now standing at the bottom of a massive canyon, rumbling and tumbling walls rising up several hundred feet on your left and right. Straight ahead of you is a rocky, craggly path populated by some rarer, hardier Pokemon that can brave the frequent rockfalls down here.

As you make your way down the stone passage, you catch sight of several intimidating Pokemon. A burly Hariyama and a slender Hitmonlee are using their forceful palm strikes and kicks (respectively) to shatter boulders, which are being knocked loose by a Golem perched atop the right cliff far overhead. Opposite the Megaton Pokemon, a Trapinch can be glimpsed briefly before disappearing behind an outcropping of - you guessed it - rocks.

Hmmm... Those last two may be a bit high to reach using 'conventional' methods, but further down the path, you do spot another ground-dweller: an ambling Cacnea, who seems to be looking for something...

What now?

A bead of sweat rolls down your face as the hot sun rests lazily in the mid-day sky. You continue to wander up the mountain pass and damn yourself for wearing blue jeans, or choosing Trolgar Mountain rather than Ffeffni.

You sigh, and continue up the mountain, refusing the temptation of rolling up your pant legs for fear of looking like a "nancy boy". Without going on a tangent, you spot a long chain of rocks along right the side of the trail; upon closer inspection, you see that it's actually an onix (f), sleeping.

Meanwhile, towards your left, you catch a riolu (m) sparring with a mankey (m) - they appear to be evenly-matched.

What will you do?

Well youve done it again and randomised a pokemon i already have (Onix) but id really like that Riolu.

Ok Dratini, approach the pair and issue a Challenge to Riolu. Try to explain to Mankey without offending it so we dont have to fight the pair of them.

Start the attack with a Thunderwave and follow with Dragon Rush before hitting with a Flamethrower!

Snatching the Great Ball up you change your strategy, that Leafeon will be yours. You order attacks and Yana backpedals, ready for a fight, heaves a thick violet smoke from her mouth. The poisonous gas envelopes the fox and she is frozen in shock.

Using the scent she recently picked up, Yana circles around behind her prey while the Leafeon fires random Bullet Seeds in hopes of hitting the hound.

Now behind grass type, Yana strikes with a multitude of baseball sized sludge pellets that explode on contact. Leafeon is thrown from the Somg but gets up feasibly shaken. It quivers slightly, poison taking over…

Well, it seems like luck is finally on your side. Ignoring the Fighting and Rock Pokemon milling about, you approach the Cacnea as cautiously as you can...

Of course, the damn thing turns around and spots you; eyes wide, the small saguaro cries out and bolts down the canyon as fast as its stubby legs can carry it.

Groaning with irritation, you give chase, running through the twisting crevasse, which becomes narrower and dustier before finally (and abruptly) ending, dumping you down a sandy incline into a desertlike area nestled at the end of the canyon. Mountains and spires rise on every side of you, and nothing but sand lays dead ahead, the occasional rock or tumbleweed serving as the only place markers available.

Dusting yourself off, you get up and look around, searching for the Cacnea again. As you scan the miniature desert, you catch sight of only the very hardiest of Pokemon - a Rhyhorn is sleeping in a small burrow in the sand, while a Skarmory and a Vibrava circle overhead.

You finally catch sight of the Cacnea again and start to approach it, but you stop dead a second later - not ten feet behind the green pinball is a far more intimidating form of plant life - a 6-foot Cacturne. And he does not look happy...

The mankey and riolu call off their mild spar for relaxation as your dratini slithers over to them, eager to battle as well. Explaining the situation to the riolu pup, he seems compliant in battling for his freedom.

A spiraling electricity is released from the slithery serpant pokemon, crashing into Riolu; Riolu squeels in pain as the electricity scatters within his body, locking up his muscles. Riolu tries to retalliate, but his body won't allow it.

Dratini smirks as a roaring green flame envelops him, he charges towards the pup pokemon, knocking him to the ground harshly. Riolu struggles to pick himself up before retalliating - his leg flares up as he slams it into Dratini's scaley hide for light damage.

Annoyed with the fire attack, Dratini shoots off a sudden chain of fire which wraps around the fighting dog pokemon; he once more yelps in pain as his muscles keep him from attacking. Riolu decides to attack Dratini's mind, and shrieks loudly. Dratini winces in pain as he struggles against the screech.
