(steals mr_pikachu's car; crashes it into the Hangman Randomizer)

    D'OH!!! >_<

OK, OK, on-topic... Um... There's a word for this type of representation of Fanfic's 2 most serious writers as complete incompetents... What is it now...?

    Oh, yeah.

I'm a big fan of Ted Giesel myself (Dr. Seuss to most folks), and I'm guessing that you mean Green Eggs and Ham, one of my personal favorites.

    Although...

I must admit, I would not eat,
Such strangely hued ovum and meat.

    But anyway...

If what we've seen in this fic so far is any indication, I'm sure that MoP's humerous intro will lead to more serious information. SM will just have to wait.

Hmm, this awfully reminds me of another video we recently watched, which also contained complete nonsense, until the very end where the important info was reveiled.

    - Well, I "took some time off" yesterday to complete the book, so as not to be irresistably drawn to it as much anymore, and I can only say: Time well spent!
So what if she got critized on some parts of the book, Rowling couldn't have done better! What with all the recurring characters we get to see again, and the character development of Ron and Snape and such. Of course, next to all the suspense and sadness for the people that die, she knows to add some humour in too. So I like it, period! Can't wait for the movie. ;P

I had eaten Turtle soup before. And it isn't that much of an exotic taste as you would expect it. In fact, it taste much like chicken breast meat if you had cooked it along with the herbs.

@Brian~ Nice going work in the progress toward #144. I figured out that Dark Sage and Shuppet Master would end up looking stupid when they entered into fireguardian's server in #143.

Blade: *stares at Randomizer* And you wonder why you haven't appeared since #69.

On a lighter note, though, I'm glad you liked this representation. Even the most serious of people have occasional moments of looseness... perhaps this is one of the few?

DS: Precisely. That was a reference to the title of #144, in case you were wondering. Nice derivation!

I do like to use humor to precede major informative parts. Will that hold true here, though...?

Kalah: Hehe! Yes, there's always something to say about a kitchen, good or horrible.

    MoP: Okay, okay. Lunch.

MTR: Really? Wow. I've heard those contests are actually exceptionally difficult to win, because you've got to know everything that makes an introduction bad and then cram as much as possible into that one sentence. To win such a prize, your mom must be knowledgeable.

Mike: Well, I don't mean for everything to be complete nonsense... there may be a nugget of a hint in even the biggest heap of trashy dialogue. Remember that!

And I envy you for being able to just drop everything like that. It's a lot harder to immerse yourself when you get maybe ten minutes at a time.

Gabi: No matter how advanced they are purported to be, machines are only as impressive as the people who build them.

And don't knock it till you try it!

(Haven't tried it myself. Which is why I'm not knocking it.)

Dark: Hmm, that doesn't sound so great. But when you get down to it, almost everything "tastes like chicken."

All that work for nothing! Well, the least they can do is sit around and see some of these other exotic ingredients, right? Maybe they can pick up a recipe or two.

    The crusade of voyeurism continues!

#145: Let's tally up the members. Dark Sage has a hacker and a little boy on his team. Master of Paradox has a bloodthirsty fanatic, the head of the E-zine, and possibly the E-zine's ace reporter. Who do you think has done better with recruitment?

Why "Legendary Pokémon"? Well, Mewfour's name is based off the fictional Mewthree. Mewthree was, in turn, based off Mewtwo, who was...

You know what? You can just figure out the rest for yourself.

Yes, envy me now, but not when the deadlines are nearing. *shudders*

Anyway, maybe the rebels do need some new recruits, but the others have some oddballs too, ya now. Robots, badly drawn manga kids, bunny girls... Actually, come to think about it, that doesn't include the FF mods... You may stand tall against them, after all!

Mike: Yeah, I hear you. When you're staring down impending doom, it's hard for anyone to be jealous.

Sometimes, eccentricities are signs of brilliance. Sometimes.

DS: That certainly would make things easier. But what would the aliens stand to gain from such a partnership? Would the extra force be beneficial or would it distract them from their goals?

As for Blademaster, he's been relegated to our distant memories. 77 plot-based pages ago. Yup.

Blade: Hah! So you'd rather hunt vicious snapping turtles than unlock the powers deep within yourself? Shame.

... said the Uncle in the Game.

Heheh, busted! I like how DS got fooled... We can always use another character with humour.
Is it just me, or has MoP's character got the most extensive collection of expressions (and wardrobes changes - chandle-hat ftw)? At least, in the last few pages, it seemed every picture he was in showed a completely different him than the ones before.

DS: Well, they do say there's a fine line between genius and insanity. Perhaps Paradox is straddling that line as we speak.

I'm not sure that it's officially been thrown, though... That seemed pretty informal to me.

Faiz: Hey, Martin wasn't as foolish as he looked, either! A few correct readers analyses revealed that much.

Why do you think that Mewfour is speaking like a stereotypical "big, dumb lackey"? Isn't it just as possible that he's a stereotypical egomaniac?

Mike: See, I never played the JCA game. It just didn't look very good to me.

Humor is always good, particularly in tense situations. It's nice to have the option of an occasional mood breaker, and I wanted to maintain that until things really get serious. (They aren't yet, even if you've gotten a taste of what's to come.) And while I knew that MoP's character, Onizuka, was diverse... I had no idea just how many emotions he really displayed. Hooray for candle-hats!

Blade: I should make you MH's lackey.

Gabi: It's like a real-life game of chess. Advantage: MoP!

So what do you do when your devious hack goes horribly wrong?

#147: This is one of those pages that was very difficult to create simply because of the amount of text. The more things you have in the frame, the harder it is to ensure that you don't unduly block anyone's face.

Hey, I never said the game was good. The replay value is practically nill, considering there's the code to unlock every level. (Holding R, pressing L+A+B ... or something )

    --

Personally, I liked (one of) this year's JavaPolis' motto's a good, too. I even got the T-shirt - part of an intricate collections of 5 T-shirts and more pens I collected the first 2 and something days of the event:
SoftWare. May The Source Be With You.
Another motto was (Hash)Code Wars, I think.
Oh, and one of the other T-shirts had something along the lines of:
Warning: The following website was made with Ajax. The incredible responsetime may prove to be highly addictive. Heheh.

    --

Anyway, at least SM has a T-shirt to show for all his troubles; >:-) So, they actually broke in, and so MoP decided on the spot to fabricate the turtle-soup diversion manoeuvre? Freaky.

Mystic: Patience. One must appear before he can demand alliances.

Gabi: Aww, you think the comic's lousy... *pouts dramatically*

Mike: Sounds like a simple code. Fitting for what looked like a simple game.

I like the "May The Source Be With You" line. For some reason that just strikes a chord with me. I'll have to file that in the "shirts I wish I owned" bin, along with the VG Cats version of Eat, Drink, Sleep, Videogames. Level up!

Of course, anyone who knows me in person knows I'll wear anything. Especially if I don't have to pay money for it. Apparently the same goes for candle-hat MoP, who's either a genius or a lucky fool.

Blade: Considering that you constantly break my Randomizer anyway, I don't think that threat is very... threatening.

    Let's switch gears, shall we?

#148: We're back to mr_pikachu. And it seems he's finally found what he has long sought, whether or not he really wants to see it.

In case you hadn't already guessed, the sixth panel is not from Pika's series of origin, Neon Genesis Evangelion. But the title is another reference to Jackie Chan Adventures: in the Demon Portals arc, the Book of Ages was a complete record of all history. Let's see if this particular tome has the same or different purposes.

This always happens. I catch up again and then out of nowhere, BAM, half a dozen new pages!

#143: Hehe. Loved the title - "Geek Squad". Panel 4 was amusing - Dark Sage looked like the technobabble was basically just washing over him. And good cliffy at the end - fireguardian has joined the evil people? But who's evil here and who's not? It's getting harder to tell.

#144: "We used to have an oven, but it - uh - kinda melted." Hehe, I loved that line. Actually, this whole page was pretty funny, what with the turtle and so on. I don't know why, but turtles always seem to amuse me. Although, not a lot really happened on this page, either - but I suppose we did get to appreciate Dark Sage and Shuppet Master's collective incredulity.

#145: Shocks and surprises! So, MoP is kinda dangerous. In terms of who he's got working for him, at least. Mewfour definitely sounds unbalanced and, well, murderous - but I think that could end up being problematic. If they aren't ready to attack, he might lose control and go on a reckless killing spree or something. Which would be bad for all involved.

#146: OK, now I'm not convinced that MoP knew the whole time that he was being spied on. It just wouldn't be in his interests to reveal any of that information - he could have got along fine talking about breakfast and taking kitchen tours. Unless, of course, the whole Mewfour thing was a red herring he was throwing right at Dark Sage ... hmmm ... Oh, and I thought the last panel was a very effective one, too. It's like visible static or something.

#147: Brilliant first panel! Good choice of image, and good work making the text fit and yet still showing us the anger on Shuppet Master's face. As for the content of this page, I think I just mused about it all in my reply to the last one. I have to say, I agree with Dark Sage's observation in the last panel. Losing would not be a pretty sight.

#148: About time we got back to this! Well, I thought the title might've been a reference to Def Leppard's extremely gnarly 1983 song "Rock of Ages", but I spose you're not that big a fan of '80s glam metal. Heh, I thought panel 3 was pretty funny. Though murder justified? Let's hope that's a hyperbole. ^_^ And let's hope I've used that word in the right context. Anyway - the last panel leaves us hanging, but in doing so, it's very effective. Plus ... ominous. Death note? Oooh. Something tells me we might be getting some big revelations soon.

    Well, I hope.

Alright, that's me caught up again. Seeya next page man!

Cool Re: War of the Forums (#148)

LOL good work as all ways Brian, and yes I herd of Turtle Soup before do to the older TMNT cartoons having the shredder threaten to turn the turtles into soup like evry time he got his plains ruined by them...

Anyways I do wonder if Charles told fireguardian about MOP, If Charles is just a Friend of MOP or an Agent, since it would be so like him, I mean I'd think he would have a reason for wanting to kick Brian's Butt... I mean Charles could Still be annoyed about a PM Brain sent him...

Mike: You'd be surprised. Put an archeology textbook in front of me and my brain will decide it wants to run far, far away.

Kristian: A little faster than LTL, eh?

I do love comedic titles and characters. But was DS showing incomprehension or apathy? At any rate, fireguardian doesn't seem to be on his team, whatever that means.

How does an oven melt, anyway? However much plot advancement may have been in this page, it certainly seemed like the right move character-wise. And if you enjoyed it, all the better.

MoP's gang is not to be taken lightly. But would a killing spree be so bad? It might take everyone's attention away from a devious plot just beneath the surface...

I made that panel using an image I got of precisely that - static. As for the rest...

Okay, either you're reading my mind or I'm getting predictable. Glad you thought the first panel was well-crafted, though. With all the text to relay, #147 took ages to craft.

Hey, everyone else seemed to think I was focusing on the mods too much. But this is rather necessary, yes. We'll see what comes of mr_pikachu's foray into the book... And no, I'm not all that into metal, even if I have heard of Def Leppard.

Gabi: It's definitely not something you could just check out from the local library.

Blade: You break my Randomizer whether or not I act against your wishes. I'm still not seeing the threat...

Shonta: Hehe! Well, hopefully it doesn't quite work the same as that Death Note. Actually, the Fanfic mods may soon be wishing it did.

Charles: Thanks! Nobody likes being served in a steaming bowl. It's just not kosher.

It's hard to say what Charles' motives are as of yet. He could be playing any number of angles in lending support; perhaps he's like Blademaster, who begrudgingly aided Dark Sage. But at any rate, he's just handed the "Master" an exceedingly powerful tool.

Blade pretty much sum it all. However... the text there seems to have a continuation, doesn't it?

"But the Gods cannot restore what..."

Hm... And the starting of the page: "Once the three have received Her words. The end shall rise again."

End... again? And could the three: fanfic mods, and Her: the sword-wielding woman, and the threat is...

Oh, bring on the next page, then!

I like where this thread is going.

I wonder if anything that had been recorded before the page opened was relevant to anything that has already happened. And while the three are most definitely the mods in this case - or quite possibly even the triad of administrators - I still feel a desire to find out who "He" and "She" are.

And could the mentioning of blood and fire be a vague depiction of numerous and very cut-throat flame wars, depending on who He may be?

    Keep it coming! :3

Instead of summarizing the lastest pages, I just say it's nice to see you still keep coming up with original pages, I mean at least pages that differ from the rest, like that book thing.

And shameless advertising: If you like War of the Forums, you gotta love my newest whack! Not really.

Hehe, that just started running throuh my head. I just went back to see what exactly it was that caused Brian to find this book. Oh... the mention of the Lady... so I presume the lady with the blue hair who looks like Ada is She. Ada and Gavin (and Brian, although he wasn't at the scene?) are the three. The words are about replacing Martin? That's kinda weird, and doesn't seem to fit. About MoP knowing about Dark Sage spying, yeah he could have kept it to himself and used it as a surprise advantage later, but I guess he just wanted to declare war. Why is it important that Mewfour considers murder to be entertaining? It's not like Dark Sage would have been easier on Mewfour otherwise. I do wonder what the grounds are for the rivalry between Dark Sage and MoP though.

Blade: Something about that last page makes me doubt that plan would work very well in this instance.

Faiz: I actually finished that sentence when I was writing this, and only cut off the end because I'd exhausted the limits of the page. Still, why not keep you in suspense for awhile?

Nice theory about the other references. We'll see if it holds true or if you have to shamefully eat crow.

Kalah: Haha, flaming! You're clearly not a fan of We Didn't Start the Fire.

Thanks for the compliment about the prophecy. That took me a long time, actually. It surprised even me, although I was even more surprised by the text rotation actually working decently.

    DS: Everybody loves prophesied doom!

Considering that things haven't begun to deteriorate yet... perhaps.

Charles: *tries to remember the last PM I sent you*

    Well, perhaps it's a good thing that you're at least partially oriented with Team Chaos. ^_^;

Laura: Heh, thanks for the compliment!

If anything significant was on the preceding pages, it's likely already in the past, which means that the mods have lost the chance to stop it. However, a close analysis might reveal some useful information. I'm glad you want to know more about the identities of the unnamed; I actually plan to reveal a lot about that very soon. Which, in my case, means about 20 pages from now. Maybe.

As for the possible literal interpretation of blood and fire... no comment. How enlightening!

Mikachu: Thanks, man. I'm glad you appreciate the occasional deviation from my six-panel pattern. It's not something I do often (or plan to do much more frequently in the future), but hopefully it serves as a nice jolt at choice moments.

And I saw the whack. If I could draw half that well, I wouldn't be doing this fic in the Ctrl+V style.

Ada: Haha, nice quote! Not that I've ever heard the song, but... yeah!

(Which reminds me that I haven't done the ringtone thing in awhile. Hmm.)

One could assume that Ms. Blue Hair is She. But then again, each group, tightly formed or loosely dispersed, has gotten information from a variety of sources. It may be hard to rule out anyone from any role just yet. As for MoP, while he could have held it as an ace in the hole, it was an interesting psychological ploy. Mewfour's fearsomeness also adds to the potential for a psych play. Perhaps he can get DS to hesitate and second-guess himself...? The mental battle can be just as important as physical combat.

You wonder why DS and MoP hold hostility for one another? Very good question.

Book Three ends as 2008 begins. Happy new year?

    #150: Jay lives!

This page was completed before #146. Needless to say, I've been planning this twist for quite awhile. The setup, if you've forgotten, happened in #88.

Aside from the headers on the Cover and Extra pages and the boxes in #128, this is the first time that text spaces have been of my own creation. I thought a first-person thought bubble was necessary, and it adds some needed drama.

The sad thing is that I spent most of my time on this page making the little "eye opening" layers. It was a fairly simple process once I knew what I was doing; just draw two circles, flood fill everything but the intersection, and add a little blurring. But it took awhile to refine my technique... and to choose a good "darkness" color.
    IT HAS RETURNED.
