Round One Hundred Sixteen



The Murkrow stares at you, then pulls out a list. He skims up and down the page then stops and looks at you again.

"Yes, it seems we are expecting you. New employees are meant to arrive via the staff entrance, but I suppose I can let you in this way. I will have someone escort you to the backstage area. Security!"

The high pitched screech pierces your ears, and a Granbull appears at your side.

"Escort this gentleman to the backstage area and put him to work!"

The Grandbull grunts and shoves you forward. You head into the big top but get shoved quickly to the left before you can properly look inside. You are led behind the main arena and beneath the seats into a rather large room where pokemon of various shapes and sizes are bustling around practising acts and looking as stressed and busy as possible.

The Granbull stands behind you whilst you wait for someone official to turn up. In the meantime, you check out some of the acts behind the scenes.

A bright blue glow envelopes your line of sight and you come face to face with a grumpy looking Litwick with a clipboard.




"So you're the new janitor then? Hmm. You're not great looking, but we've had worse. Your job is simple. You clean. Doesn't matter what it is, you get rid of it. Kids that eat too much candy, you get rid of the wrappers that are stuck to the floor, you get rid of the sugary vomit that goes hard in a few seconds. There will be no bits of popcorn stuck in patron's shoes. There is no saw dust brought into the backstage. There is no trash. Anywhere. If you do a good job then you get paid. If you mess up, then you get thrown out of the park. Get to work!"

The Granbull shoves a broom into your hand and drops a bucket of soapy water at your feet before stamping off. Litwik wanders off to shout at someone else.

Alright let's go with you George start off with a Toxic then Flamethrower and lastly use Flame Charge
If protect is used at all then use Hone Claws for that turn

I start sweeping the area while keeping an eye out for ze Honchkrow.

Darwin, you stand guard for Cobalion. Any attacks come this way, you block them. Otherwise, Foresight the field for Ell and Vig

Oh we're playing that game. Fine. Ell. Flash them, then Roar at them to rattle them! End with Magical Leaf.

Vig, Let's keep them together. Ominous Wind them together, then Faint Attack one of them so that they all keep hitting each other. End with another disorientating Ominous Wind

Round Forty-Three



Recalling seeing a four digit number somewhere before, you pull out the developed polaroid and turn it over. Sure enough, hastily written in the corner is the number '1998'. You tap them into the pad and hit enter.

*BEEP*

The seal on the door hisses as it opens, and the heavy door slowly opens into the space behind. You step inside, followed by Rosalinda and Sake. A flight of stairs heading down is before you, with several lights lining the walls. All of a sudden you feel you have been transported to a completely different part of the word, and your thoughts turn to the first Resident Evil film. Shaking the image of a brain eating zombie from your thoughts you head down the stairwell. At the bottom of the stairs you come to a large room, filled with empty cages. A bright white LED light flickers above you, casting dark shadows in the corners of the shadows. An aching feeling of despair lingers.

Round One Hundred Seventeen

You take the bucket and the brush and start moving around, pushing piles of dirt around aimlessly as you try to spy any sign of a Murkrow or Honchkrow. The various acts look at you differently, some smiling and saying curt but friendly hellos, others nodding to acknowledge your presence. Other however grunt or turn their noses up at you, and a few even move away when you approach them, as though you smell bad or they just don't want to be near you. A small group of Snubulls wearing jet packs and roller skates stares at you whilst whispering to themselves. You sweep a pile of sand nearby and strain to listen in.

"I thought they hired a Throh as the new Janitor"

"You can't rely on Fighting types to do menial labour."

"But a human? And a pokemon trainer at that? We should complain!"

"Complain? Are you insane?! Don't you know what happened to the last 'mon that complained? They went through the black doors and never came back out again.

"Hey is that human eavesdropping on us...?

You panic at the last comment and start brushing more rapidly, but still hear the Snubulls getting closer.

"Roll call for the Skydancing Snubulls!" A high pitched voice calls out "You're on in five! Don't keep the big man waiting!"

The Snubulls hesitate then walk off grumbling. You wait until they were all gone and turn only to find yourself looking down at a small green pokemon covered in lots of flowers.



"I hope those guys didn't upset you." she said. Her voice was high pitched just like the roll caller. "They think they're the stars of the show, so they don't like anyone that much."

"No they didn't. And uh, thanks."

"No problem. You're new here I see that." she beckons you to come closer, and you have to get right down on your knees to listen as she whispers into your ear "Let me give you a bit of advice. Get out of here, whilst your still your own man. Don't let the Krow's get a hold over you, or you'll always be in their debt."

You stare at her for a second, and she looks deadly serious. The sound of footsteps getting nearer spooks her and she squickly smacks you in the face. Not hard, but enough to shock you.

"Look at this floor!" she shrieks. The footsteps stop and a shadow looms over you, but you can't see who or what it is. "Look at it! How am I meant to dance properly with all this dust being kicked up? You need to earn your keep boy, get back to work!"

Round Fifty-Nine



You send George up to battle, leaving taco looking disappointed. Nevertheless George steps up ready to battle.

George starts off by coughing up a sticky black fluid before trying to throw it into Solosis' face. The tiny cell pokemon unleashes a brilliant white flash that blinds everyone for a split second. When the light clears, Solosis has moved and the poisonous muck is sinking into the ground. Gothia whistles, impressed. George grunts, sending out a burst of flame that engulfs Solosis, causing the pokemon to yelp in pain. The flames are suddenly extinguished and a wave of psychic energy ripples outwards, causing George's head to thump and her body ache. Still she forces herself to continue battling, running at the small pokemon, surrounded by flames. She charges into her foe, adrenaline boosting her speed, but Solosis simply takes the attack, apparently not doing anything is retaliation.

- What now?

Alright Hone Claws twice and then Flame Charge if protect is used on the last turn then Hone Claws again. If any status ailment moves are used then Protect

I will double my scrubbing efforts and look up at the shadowy figure with a deferential nod and obsequious smile.

Round Forty-Four

Caustiously you look inside some of the cages. At first glance they appear to be empty, but on closer inspection you see something hidden at the back. A pokeball of some kind, broken in the corner. You reach in and carefully take it out of the cage and hold it near a light. It's tattered, showing signs of damage where it has been roughly handled, possibly for many years. It feels like it's about to fall apart at any moment. You carefully place it back in the cage you took it from. Each cage has the same thing. Scratches on the top and sides, scorch marks around the locks, but not a single one of them is broken or even showing signs of wear.

You count up the number of cages in the room to be near twenty, each one as lonely and despairing as the next. Rosalinda shivers and looks behind her. A shadow seems to creep across the wall but vanishes as quickly as it appeared.

"What's wrong?" You ask.

"This place gives me the creeps. It feels like we're being watched."

"We probably are." You muse.

There are two pathways out of the room, one to the left and one to the right. On the left side there is a dull flickering of light, whilst to the right you can feel a slight chill. They both appear to lead in the same direction in any case.

Round Sixty



George begins to sharpen her claws, devilishly raising her attack in the process. Solosis on the other hand starts to spin, faster and faster before suddenly rolling into George and knocking her over. The fire type cringes as she gets back onto her feet, but still she continues to sharpen her claws. Adreline is pumping through her now, but again Solosis spins and hits her, this time with a force more powerful than before. Wit that little extra speed on her side, George rushes forward, charging into her foe and igniting her flames at the same time. Solosis cries out in pain from the extra damage caused, but retaliates by summoning a miniature rain storm, that causes George's flames to sizzle and dampen under the downpour.
