I just tried to give Shiftry Explosion using the Heart Scale method. This usually shows all the moves my Pokemon has learned, but Explosion isn't showing up. I forget, does Shiftry learn this naturally or is this an Egg Move? I picked Aerial Ace in the first place because of its 4x weakness to Bug types. I realize there is no STAB but it seemed to cover my bases.

Oh yeah, Explosion is Move Tutor. Oops. Fill it up with something else until then. =|

Seedot learns Explosion naturally at Level 43 so just don't evolve it until you've got Explosion. If you've already evolved it you need to get another Seedot or wait for Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green to get Explosion off one of the Move Tutors.

There's a Move Tutor who will teach one of your Pokemon Explosion. The man who does this can be found at the North part of Island 1 in Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green.
