I think sometimes you can see silhouettes of regular birds and fish, but they are so far off they could be Pidgey/Spearow or Goldeen/Magikarp.

I also think some of the earlier Pokedex descriptions reference other animals, but they've probably been trumped by later editions.

We see fish in rivers and stuff in early episodes that aren't Pokémon.

I never dreamt about it, but apperantly it's possible since in the anime they eat Farfetch'd, and in the episode in the sea, Ash and everyone else wanted to eat the Magikarp... Snorlax have been shown to almost eat other Pokemon, Cherrim is a food... Probably Munchlax's food... So yeah, some Pokemon are eatable, but how are you going to eat a Magnemite, Slugms, Ghastly (which is poisionous by the way)... etc

Spearow eat Caterpie, right? Wasn't that a problem in one of the first episodes--like Metapod is a defense mechanism of Caterpie while it molts/evolves or whatever the hell caterpillars do in cocoons? Farfetch'd are rare because people ate them, and didn't they get cooked WITH their leeks? And like... Ash in Pokemon heard about it and his mouth was all watering and stuff?

To comment on the uh, eating XD, Tropius' fruit is edible. I believe one of the Pokedex entries says that it grows the fruit twice a year and people do pick them.


Why does Houndour have ears but Houndoom seems to lose them?

Also, I find it difficult to fathom how, exactly, a rock Pokemon works. Is it solid rock? If so, where is the brain, nervous system, how does it feel pain?

Houndour have ear drums, Houndoom have ear horns. Plain and simple.


BTW, a Rock Pokémon might be a silicon-based lifeform, like the Thing. Not a single mushy tissue inside them. Except for Shuckle, of course.

You're mistaking intelligence for knowledge.

You're also assuming that an Alakazam with an IQ of 5000 would act in the same way a human with an IQ of 5000 would.

I'm not saying that Alakazams should talk but they must have the potentials to do great things since they have such an amazing IQ. They have the intelligence to gain the knowledge. Plus according to Alakazam data they are smarter than supercomputers.

Now, i was always wondering what was going on with the Legendaries. In the second movie we see the Legendary birds but in the episodes we see another Articuno and another Zapdos. Exactly how many of them exist? And wouldn't the existence of more than one Dialga, Moltres or whatever cause them to lose their legendaries statuses?

I think the term for Legendary is used loosely. In the Pokemon world, they aren't suppose to exist- just like dragons and merpeople in are world...At least that's how it use to be.

Which is why I HATE that episode with the Articuno. Way to ruin the continuity of a series.
