[Crystal Tears]

UNCHARTED

Legend tells of a lost island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. This place is rumoured to hold the riches of kings. Fortune hunters and treasure seekers have often sought this isle for centuries.

Those that return from their adventures, say that there is no island. Just endless water – rough or calm, it doesn’t matter. Time and time again, people have returned claiming the fabled ‘Treasure Island’ doesn’t exist. It’s an elaborate hoax and myth.

But a few of those that venture out into the waters disappear. No debris is found of their ships, no rafts… not even modern day technology can locate a couple of recent adventurers.

Which makes people wonder… where on earth did they go?

The flight from Los Angeles to Sydney is a long one; it crosses the ever expansive blue ocean. Some flights suffer delays, others suffer cancellations.

Yours is about to suffer something far greater.

A sudden storm slams your flight - lightning flashes and thunder booms as the wind, hail and rain play havoc with the machinery. People scream as the aircraft shudders and falls. It plummets out of the sky; the pilots barely gaining control of the vessel in time to bring the nose up.

You can hear trees snapping as the smell of fumes hit your nostrils and then everything goes black.

And as what remains of the passengers and crew lay motionless, all knocked unconscious by the crash… a shadow crosses the wreckage, and something deep within the forest stirs.




- Instead of large posts, this RPG is going to utilize a different sort of RPing. Posts can be and will be, shorter. There will be no controlling another person’s character at all. This is attempting to spur on activity and interaction. Hopefully it works, if not… well damn. xD

- Occasionally you may get PMs saying your character can find something. It may be an item, clue about the island, or something else! :3

- Sometimes I’ll send a PM with challenges – such as injury, opponent, sickness, etc. It’s up to you whether you want to do the challenge… but they just might have a reward.

- Some challenges may require you travelling back to certain locations.

Name: Helena ‘Milly’ McKay
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Personality: Kind, good sense of humour (from puns to dirty, she finds almost anything funny), an oddball who often feels awkward in large groups of people. She’s shy towards people who doesn’t know, is slow to trust but generally a nice individual. When she’s annoyed (and provided she’s comfortable with you) she gets sarcastic. She withdraws in the face of conflict, unwilling and/or unable to deal with it. She also does not like being in the spotlight.
Not intentionally a loner, Milly is one who is comfortable reading a book or playing a video game while others converse – but doesn’t like it when the house is actually empty, or she’s alone.
Appearance: Milly has long brown hair that is mostly tied up in a ponytail, though her long bangs that frame her face and some strands towards the front of her head are left to hang free. Her eyes are hazel, and are brown for the most part but turn green when she has strong emotions. She’s in relatively healthy shape, using long walks, hikes and jogging as an excuse to leave her home when she was younger until the exercise became habit. Usually Milly is wearing some sort of spaghetti strap shirt, and either jeans or cargo pants. If she’s chilly, some sort of zip-up hoodie suffices as a cover.
Carry-on Bag: Two novels, her iPhone and headphones (they made it! Yay!), a small sketchbook that’s seen better days, a bottle of water (unopened), two granola bars, her black hoodie and a pencil case.
Relationship(s): Best friends with Erin (Becki's char).
History: Milly grew up in an abusive household, both physical and mental. She escaped when she was sixteen, choosing to run from home and fled to her friend Erin’s house. No one, not even Erin knows the full story of what happened to the woman, only that she appeared at the front door one night – bloody and beaten and crying. Due to the corruption in the social services, Milly almost had to return home – but won out in the end. She’s eternally grateful to Erin and her family, and has lived with them since.
Due to her history, Milly doesn’t handle one on one confrontation well, and worse if it’s a group targeting her. She withdraws, not talking and not dealing with the issue. Often she’ll run to find Erin – if she’s fighting with Erin, it’s one of the rare times she’ll stand up for herself.
Other: Milly is her middle name and she’ll introduce herself as such. She’s rarely ever called Helena, and if she is – it’s because it’s a very serious matter or she’s in a lot of trouble… or both.

Age: 44
Gender: male
Personality: straight, to the point, and usually blunt about it. Unmarried as a result of being 'married' to the airforce
Appearance: heavyset, a bit of a gut starting to show, thought still fit. USAF insignia tattooed on his right bicep, hair just starting to go salt and pepper. Regularly dresses in long sleeved shirts and slacks on leave occassionally a t-shirt and shorts when working out.
Carry-on Bag: mostly clothes (one hawaian shirt. He's on vaction.), standard-issue survival knife on his hip (contains compass, water purification tablets and a solid, single edged blade with a can opener)- with permit for transport
Relationship(s): none
History: career airforce officer, flew during both Gulf Wars, most recently flying sorties as an F-16 pilot over Iraq. basic training applies, though his age is a definitive factor in his exertion

Personality: has a bit of a humorous side but is pretty straight forward.
Appearance: small scar from an accident on his left eye. Blonde. Usually dressed in jeans, boots, and t-shirt with a jacket.
Carry on bag: mostly clothes, a sketchbook.
Relationships: related to someone in the Red Cross in Sydney
History: He came from a bad childhood, his brother moved to Sydney just to get away from his father, his father died of disease and mother became a whore just to get them money. At the age of 18 his mother died of AIDS. He decides to go out to California to become part of the Red Cross. He married and had a child who had the same interest in medicine as he did. His brother in Sydney is sort of a role model to him.

Name: Sacha Zherdev
Age: 32
Gender: Female
Personality: Sacha is no-nonsense for the most part. She doesn't take any shit, and never has done. She's bolshy, pushy and mouthy and she won't ever hesitate to tell you precisely what she thinks of you. She almost thrives on confrontation, although she never really takes it all too seriously.
She's especially physical; touchy-feely to the extreme. Likes to thump people on the arm when she's heard a good joke, hugs like a freaking bear, handshakes that could crush your bones, that sort of thing. She gestures a lot with her hands, and is really all around a physical sort of woman.
Despite her physicality, Sacha very much exudes the feeling of being like a coiled spring. She has energy to burn, but isn't hyperactive with it – instead there's a sort of... inertia almost to her, like sometimes, you're just waiting to see what she'll do next. Perhaps a bit of unpredictability, really.
Sacha swears like a trooper in both Russian and English, frequently switches between the two, and she has a thousand mile glare matched with an often-sharp voice that gives her quite a scary air sometimes. She's a sweetie really – she just experiences emotions pretty strongly, and isn't afraid to show them no matter what. She can be too blunt at times, although she's trying to tone it down a little.
She loves dubstep mixed with hard rock, and feels very at home in heavy rock bars and with music so loud and wubwub you can feel it in your ribs.
Appearance: Sacha's pretty short – around 5”3', - and average build with a curvy figure and broad shoulders. Her eyes are hazel, her skin is pale and her lips are full and generous. She cut off all her hair about 5 years ago, and it's still in the cycle of growing back and being chopped off again. At the moment she has a sort of pixie cut, but the top is longer and feathered almost like a mini mohawk (okay for an example I guess reboot!Dante will suffice from DmC pls see picture). Her hair is naturally dark reddish ginger, but at the moment she has faded sections of plum and bright orange streaked through.
She was travelling in a pair of black pinstriped shorts with dungaree-style straps hanging down. They're cargo style, with lots of pockets and turnups at the hem, and they come down to around mid-thigh. On top, she's wearing a plain grey tank top with a lime green one underneath in a slightly different shape, so you can see the colours of both of them. On her feet she's wearing brownish-gold sandals with broad straps across the top of her foot and the back of her ankles. She had a material hat crumpled up in her carry-on bag, so she'll be wearing that for the most part while outside, but after the crash she has a pair of pitch-black aviators propped in her hair out of the way.
Carry-on Bag: A brick-like old mp3 player and dicky headphones (music only comes through one of them), the aforementioned hat, sun lotion (since she's pale, she burns really easily), a thin shirt. She also has a bunch of oatmeal cookies, some chips, a bottle of clear liquid she claims is water, a tube of lipstick in vampy purple, a pocket mirror and a whole host of other things.
Relationship(s): She has no relationship with anyone at the moment, but she's spoken to Milly a few times.
History: She grew up in Russia with her parents, moved away to Chicago when she was 20; she spent her early twenties hopping cities every year or so before settling down in LA at 29.
Other: Sacha speaks Russian and English, and is bisexual.

Name: Kevin Herran
Age: 28
Gender: Male

Personality: Kevin is something of a quiet observer. He rarely participates but he always knows what's going on and picks up on little details a lot easier than most. He's had a lot of experience at adapting to unforeseen circumstances and is something of an amateur survivalist as a result of the various things that he has experienced during his career. It's not in his nature to tell someone what to do but he will speak out if it is extremely foolhardy or will put someone else at risk.

Appearance: 6'3, medium build. He has a short crop of brown hair and blue eyes as well as a long scar that reaches from just above the corner of his right eye to the corner of his mouth. He's wearing loose jeans, trainers, a dark blue t-shirt and an un-zipped black hoodie. He also has various scarring around the area of his torso and back.
Carry-on Bag: Nothing - Kevin sleeps on flights or reads the in-flight magazines so only had his phone, his wallet, and his passport on him, none of which made it.

Relationship(s): None

History: Officially, Kevin has been an employed travel writer since he was 18 but he saw work published in various travel magazines from the time he was about 15. His parents were heavily involved in humanitarian and conservation work and Kevin traveled with them. He was schooled on the road and never made any real friends. To cope, he started writing down what he saw on his travels, who he met, and what he did. Eventually, he was able to turn this hobby into a career. Six months ago he was in a car crash. This flight was intended to be the start of a three-month tour that would get him back to work.
