[Crystal Tears]

Incessant typing was her life, the drone of a mediocre existence marked by nothing but the endless toil in a job she cared nothing for. It had been the challenge that brought her here, the truth behind the countless numbers they asked her to analyze. She had found it enthralling originally, with little human interaction making it heaven to someone as socially inept as herself.

The glow of her computer screen in the dark haven that was her office cut sharp against her honey-brown eyes. Gold flecks hidden by a white-blue gleam, one that tricked her tiring brain into thinking it was day. Machine induced insomnia, how glorious it was for someone who saw sleep as a painful necessity. Something to be done to live, yet it was in her mind, an utter waste of time.

Thrrrmmm.

Her phone never went off during work hours, as ridiculous as they were. People knew not to bother her, to leave her alone. Even in the silence of her apartment, music blared into her ears to block out the damn silence, that’s how isolated she wanted to feel.

Once could’ve been an accident, a slight she’d forgive. But two? Two? Her gaze turned harsh and she glared fury at the champagne iPhone sitting discarded by the edge of her laptop.

>> ALERT: Trainer nearby.

Her eyes narrowed in the slightest as an angry thought of ‘Really?’ crossed her mind as a flicker of absolute irritation. She sat up, pushing off the desk and letting her office chair roll across the floor to the window. Out in the darkness of twilight was a man, phone glowing in the dark, illuminating his figure as he waited near the bus stop.

She looked at her computer for a quick moment, consideration for her work fluttering in her mind before she cast it aside. Headphones still very much on, she hurried out of her seat and snatched her phone, throwing on a sweater as she kicked her door closed and bounded down the stairs.

The door to her apartment building flew open, and he looked over. Confusion etched on his face, wondering what she wanted. But then his eyes saw the glow of her phone, and everything became clear.

His phone buzzed in his hand, a message appearing.

>> CHALLENGER: KitKat_ATTack wants to battle!

He smirked, confident, condescending really. He didn’t know her, didn’t care to.

In a snap a creature appeared before him, a lizard near half the size of him. Brilliant red scales catching the flickering light of the streetlamp. Long tail curled around its frame as an orange and white flame burned from the tip, its claws were long and cruelly sharp, reptilian eyes catching sight of her, and it roared.

So many numbers ran through her head as her music changed, the patterns and equations coming to her easily as the song drowned out whatever pathetic insult he might’ve murmured at the movement of his lips.

She glanced at her phone, choosing a monster of her own.

A massive form appeared behind her, a long, snake-like body covered in sharp scales and cruel fins. A body of blue and white, shimmering with a defiant beauty as the creature’s teeth laden jaws roared open and let out a terrible roar.

Furious eyes glared at the fire type, promising nothing but a painful death.

Oh, how quickly that smirk vanished.

And she uttered two words, almost smirking. Almost looking happy, despite what was about to happen.

“Destroy him.”

POKÉMON GO

1) Pokémon have come to the real world via a game known as Pokémon Go.
2) Pokémon cannot harm the real world.
3) Only one fully evolved Pokémon permitted, and two mid evolutions. The rest must be basic Pokémon at the beginning of their evolutionary chain. No evolution Pokémon count towards ‘fully evolved.’
4) The original 151 only, no legendaries.

This RPG is made to address the want for both a game with an over-arching story, and short, goal orientated battles. As a result, the plot of this RPG is not openly laid out in the registration form.

Wishlist for the RPG: Pokémon, both short, goal orientated scenarios/battles, and over-arching story, school.

Addressing the school, this game primarily takes place on a large campus and surrounding area of a university. Everyone will be a student, generally this will help people know each other, or at least know of each other at least.

While there is no official ranking system for the trainers, the University does keep track of the top 100 battlers (more-so as an informal game than anything else), the ranking is optional. I do not want too many people to be top players at first.

NAME: Katlyn McQueen
AGE: 24

APPEARANCE: because I am supremely lazy, like you have no idea.
PERSONALITY: To put it mildly, Katlyn is socially inept. She doesn’t have a clue as to how to interact with people, often coming off rude and cold. It is not her intention, her lack of understanding how to mediate what she says, often means she is bluntly honest. This, and how people very often react to what she says, has led to her to be recluse. She’s shy, often blocking out the world with her headphones, and choosing to live basically at her computer screen.
HISTORY: Kat’s intelligence has always been her downfall, being ‘gifted’ in regards to processing information, she often sees others as slow. It has gotten her into trouble time and time again, and growing up it created friction between herself and her parents, who eventually sent her away to private schools in attempt to challenge her. Due to intense bullying (which Kat accidentally instigated with her inability to understand social protocols), Kat became extremely introverted and reclusive, hiding away on her computer. Overtime the condition evolved into a very powerful form of social anxiety, one that Pokémon Go has only slightly overcome by having her go outside to play.
Attending the university hasn’t changed her, despite seeing a councilor due to her extreme social anxiety.

OTHER: She knows Dante, and denies that she's his friend (or vice-versa). Though, that being said, she doesn't go out of her way to make him leave or avoid him.

NAME: Dante Richards
AGE: 24

APPEARANCE: Tall and lanky, Dante would be mistaken for a tree at best and a malnourished redwood at worst. Slightly tanner skin, he has messy dark red hair and blazing orange eyes. Often he's seen around in a red over-shirt, and his hair partly slicked back. Usually wearing a smirk or grin of some kind he slouches most of the time. He has a few scars on his upper arms and right cheek.
PERSONALITY: Impulsive, troublesome, and usually acting for his own amusement, Dante is both annoyance and protection rolled into one. He can't stand the strong picking on the weak, and often loves looking for a good challenge. He's impulsive, acting on a whim and stubborn enough to see it through. For ill or gain. Dante is hyper and often talks about random inane things, shows, rocks, cute girls, just to get a conversation going often not thinking about what he's saying. He also goes to annoy the 'interesting' people. Often the ones who are shelled off or not very good with people to coax them out of their shell, and they're better people. This is how he met Kat. Or at least that's what he says. He doesn't take school or classes that seriously, and barely manages to pass any classes. He has potential, but few things grab the focus of his burning passion.
HISTORY: Raised in near poverty, Dante had to fight to survive. Usually getting in plenty of fights and scrapes most of the time, and standing up even to those stronger than him in the defense of others. His father left him young, and his mother worked herself nearly to death to provide for him. Throughout school he was a troublemaker, but often taking the brunt of the damage to help out others in the process. Even as he managed to go to college on a sports scholarship, the program dried up so he has been trying to make his way through underground fighting matches. And since PokemonGo hit the servers, taking up battles for money in the underground circuit. His first catch, amazingly, was an Aerodactyl that became his signature Pokemon and has survived several battles, nearly getting deleted in the process. Dante's skill, mixed with his determination has pushed him up into the top 100 trainers on campus. While only looking at Ranks as a way to make money on his bets, he does love a good fight and challenge, and even when he loses, he never backs down.

OTHER: Friend, would be the loosest interpretation of the word for his relationship with Kat. While impulsive, Dante likes to get a rise out of people, and finds goading Kat to be his new favorite pastime. Though he has no malice towards her, he does enjoy pushing her buttons a bit. He does have a Roomate on campus.

PERSONALITY: Meiya is a quiet girl, that enjoys reading, writing and generally keeping out of trouble. She generally does well at college, and focuses mostly on English literature. She dislikes conflict, so avoids it at all costs. It’s part of the reason she has yet to battle anyone in Pokemon Go. She’s worried about what would happen if she lost, as she’s become quite attached to her virtual friends. She likes to go on walks, even more regularly now since PoGO, which is why her collection is quite large. She will battle wild Pokemon. She worries more than she should, and has a close circle of friends that she adores. It’s not that she can’t make more friends, she’s just quite shy when she meets someone new. Meiya also likes to sing, and occasionally uploads recordings to her soundcloud page.
HISTORY: Meiya is an only child. Her parents were always busy, so she didn’t tend to spend much time with them. She almost always got what she wanted (normally books) and kept to herself, escaping into the worlds in the pages. Her mum tried to make her do singing competitions, but she refused - she hates the lime light.
