I saw that too. At least that's easy to remember.
...and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one surprised to see this, but it is Link. Yes guys, Hyrule's famous hero is Link Link (it's like with Mario Mario, who we all know is Nintendo's famous princess saving plumber).
Here is the proof.
So yeah, what do you guys think of this?

That doesn't justify giving him a first name that's identical to his last name.I guess it makes sense for Link to have an odd last name: he’s not human.
Anyway, there's been more than one Link. Are they all named Link Link?

As a long-time Legend of Zelda fan, that's a tough question to answer. But, I'm going to go out on a limb and say yes to that question. Sometimes I wish Nintendo had stuck with one Link like they did with Mario, but then there may have been fewer Legend of Zelda games today (it's something that would make me cringe uncomfortably if it was true, good thing that's not the case).

Honestly guys, I've seen many unbelievable things. One thing's for sure, Nintendo's lack of originality for giving Mario and Link the same last name as their first name is definitely one of their dumbest moves in my opinion (at least Sega didn't do that same move with Sonic the Hedgehog; if he was named Sonic Sonic instead of Sonic the Hedgehog, I'd want to chastise them for that move). But that's not going to take away my liking for both of these Nintendo characters.

Well, many people have looked down on both Mario and Link because they think those characters lack depth in behavior and personality. I have been guilty there, too. Sony fanboys tend to rise up unforgettable, compassionate Final Fantasy characters like Cloud, Zidane and Tidus. However, for one thing, those FF characters appear almost exclusively only in their respective games, for second thing, they forget that the first six Final Fantasy games were for Nintendo consoles, for third thing, Sony never had a real flagship game like Nintendo (Mario, Zelda, Pokemon). Sony merely had characters like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet and Clank, but they never acquired the same status as Nintendo's heroes who have always been there. No offence to the fans, but Crash and others have been swept away in the march of videogame history.
