For the record, there's actually a trick you can use to complete the "Make 3 new Friends" task. By all means, do make a bunch of new Friends if you can, but if you're having trouble finding people you aren't already Friends with, you can actually Delete a Friend, and then re-add them. This will NOT reset your Friendship level; you'll still be as good Friends with them as you were before. It won't even erase unopened Gifts. And yet, in a fantastic display of cognitive dissonance, the game will still let it count as adding a new Friend for the purpose of research.
