Please Teacher vs. Please Twins
Okay, I just finished watching Twins, so I thought I'd ask the question to everyone else:
Which one do you like more?
For me, it's Please Twins.
My reasons:
1. Description flaws. Please Teacher never properly explained the void world, which kind of annoyed me, since it was important to the transportation through space. Also, the ruling board on Mizuho was never explained, so I didn't think that was fair. Whereas in Twins, the backgrounf of Maike, Mina and Karen was explained, along with the past and the proof of who really was twins.
2. Better male lead. Maiku was better than Kei. Better character development, more interesting as a person. Plus he treated Mina and Karen much better than Kei treated Mizuho and especially Koishi. That's big for me. I never really forgave Kei for being so cold and uncaring towards Koishi. Even when Maiku was cold, he never turned Mina and Karen onto the street or left the heartbroken without caring.
3. Slightly better plot. The concept of the twins had a bit of a thriller hint. Although the evidence was there that Karen was the twin and Mina the lover, it was relatively well hidden. Whereas the outcome of Please Teacher was bovious. It was getting there that was a bit unknown. Plus the Kousei-Tsubaki relationship was a nice surprise.
4. Better character development. Maiku opening his heart, Mina learning to trust others and to stop running away, Karen to take control of her life. Then Kousei revealing why he acted how he did and Tsubaki learning to trust Kousei again. Onl Kei seemed to change a lot in the original.
5. The core relationship was more believable/better to watch. The situation between Maiku, Mina and Karen really could happen. And depsite the obvious moral conflictions, it was handled well. Please Teacher did in to a similar extent, but the fact that such a relationship wouldn't get away without jail always hung above it.
6. Better female traits. Mizuho was kind of one-dimensional and very immature, acting more like a 10-year old, which was cute at times but sometimes infuriating. Koishi was better than her. Whereas Mina and Karen had very believable and likeable personalities.
7. The ending. Teacher was very abrupt. Twins flowed and was rounded off nicely.
As for my favourite episodes of Twins, I'd say episodes 1, 2, 5, 9 and 12. 5 because of the kisses, 9 because the whole episode was a riot (how about Karen in the samurai outfit and Mina as the cop!) and 12 because the ending wasn't so abrupt compared to Twins and because Maiku's confession to Mina and the reslts were nice and believable.
I'm probably going to get castrated for saying Please Twins is better than Please Teacher, but that's how I honestly feel.
Proceed to tear me apart, people!

Yupz I must agree that Onegai Twins has all the advantage as mentioned above but do remember that Onegai Teacher hav things better than its serial!
1) More unbeliveable background
Who on earth would you fall for a beautiful alien? Its impossible!
2) Speaks a lot about today's society behaviour
Shotgun marriage~ Today's youths are more into this kind of marriage. They get married not because they love each other because they hav something to hide from their parents or friends.
In the case of Onegai Teacher, it is to hide the fact that she is an alien.
Life after shotgun marriage is pretty much. The storyline shows how the love between Kei and Mizuho develops after the shotgun marriage. The story describles the flow of their feelings well even better than Twins. In Twins, those two little girls only hide their feeling from Maiku and dared not express them. *In case the one who expresses first is actually the sis lolz..*
3) For a more mature audience
I would very much prefer to see Teacher than Onegai because of certain reason too. Would a 19 year old like me prefer two hanky panky girls trying to express their feeling but can't to a student who is unsure of his choice after marriage? I would very much prefered the latter.
I will proberly post more of my argument after I could think of more...
Hey, those are fair points. And I know you'd jump in since Please Teacher is #1 on your list!
As I said, this was meant to be an open discussion, so I was ready and willing to see this.
I did thing of another reason I prefer Twins over Teacher:
7. The Soundtrack. Second Flight is an awesome song, and the overall background music during the episodes was a bit more preferrable. I liked the strings and more subdued piano than the very high-pitchedness in Teacher episodes.
Plus, Mizuho didn't follow that many morals/examples within school. There's no way any teacher I know or have seen in action that would have let Hyosuke and Mitsumi get away with wearing 'that' uniform to school so casually. I did think it was a nice touch, but no teacher would be as soft and submussive as Mizuho.
And FYI, I'm actually 22 myself. And I found the plight of Please Twins more engaging and suited than Teacher. I think opinion will be split over which is better, personally. And I'm not saying there was THAT big a difference. For me, the difference is slight, but I'm edging to Twins.
