For how long do you keep your computer running before restarting it/turning it off?

I usually just keep it open forever until it gets turned off by some electric shortage or whatever, also if I have to install some shit that requires restarting.

My uptime record is 3 weeks 3 days 5 hours 47 minutes and 32 seconds set on Tuesday, September 14 2004. My computer died because of some temporary shortage not too long ago :(

I keep my computer on all of the time... I turn it off only when I need to do something that involves having the computer off or rebooting.

My current (and longest, I think) uptime:

I only turn it on when I have to use it. If i'm not using it then it remains off.

I keep it on as long as I can. Some days I turn it off though, and I'm not sure of my record. It would be about two weeks.

I usually turn it off when I go to bed. So it's off when I sleep, it's usually on every other time.

i keep mine on all of the time, unless i have updates to install and the occasional driver update and whatnot. 8)

They're all on all the time, because they're servers. Record uptime is just above 10wks on XP and 30wks on my (Fedora) laptop. :)

I would like to keep my computer on all the time (at least hibernation mode) but I don't have XP (yet, that is).
When I get my dad's old laptop, I'm gonna keep it on all the time.
The longest it's been on is around 12+ hours to scan for viruses...

Sometimes I leave my computer on for a couple of hours, if I have to go somewhere and I know I'll be back fairly soon. Otherwise, I'm either using it, or it's off.

That doesn't say much, though, considering I use it pretty much all the time... :rolleyes:

I turn mine off every night :eek: I don't think there has yet been a day when my computer has been on for more than 24 hours o0;

It acts very stupid if it doesn't have a rest :)

My computer only stays on only if I am using it at that moment. Otherwise, I keep it off because the weather can change so quickly in our area

I turn my computer off every night, but not on the nights that I'm downloading really big files. I think the uptime is approximately 30 something hours only.

I don't leave it on that long anymore, cuz I fried my last computer last year. The fan broke down from behind (due to too much dust), and the circuits inside basically went on fire.

But since I just got a new powerbook, it stays on suring lesson time at college as im using it alot!
