colloseum 'starter' question..

i read on the 'shadow pokemon location' section of gamefaq:

BAYLEEF- If you picked Quilava as your starter, you will encounter him in the
Snagem Hideout *1 CHANCE*

i don't understand the whole 'picked quilava as your starter' bit..

aren't you just stuck with espeon and umbreon?

That means that if you Snag Quilava after defeating Trudly at Phenac City, you'll find Bayleef later on. And the same with Croconaw. They mean the Johto Starters you have a choice at the beginning of the game, not actual Starters.
