I spell it mum. Anyway this is kind of a weird poll, Shazza! I think more people here will put Mom because there are a lot of americans here. Oh well! :196:

shazza, you cheated on the poll! :grumble:

Mom, because I live in America. And it's always seemed to me like there are more Aussies here than Americans, so I've gotta disagree with you, Kirei.

Mom....MOM!!!! Where's my game?

It depends who I'm talking to, I dont' like to confuse people, in my early Internet days I used to get Americans going "UUUHH WHAT IS A MUM???" so I had to simplify things for them, though when I spoke to English friends they'd laugh at me and say I was being Americanised if I typed Mom so I had to play on both fields.
Then there's my regional friends, up here in the North East it's not uncommon to call your mother 'mam', so when I'm talking to a lot of my IRL friends online I use that.

I'm too complicated, eh?

I say Mum IRL and OL. Surely it can't be that difficult to figure out that when I say Mum it's the same thing as "Mom." Especially given the context that it's said in. If they don't know, I'll tell them, and then I'll assume they're going to remember...

Mum, because I'm English and that's the way we're supposed to say it in England.

Yeah. :lookout:

I use mom, only because I don't really have an accent and because that's what I grew up hearing. 'Mama' is used among the accented hicks of Florida.

I use mamá, which is in english the equal to mom . I dont really use mom because mines doesnt know english so in fact i talk with her only in spanish.Quite obvious. But on the other hand when i am online or usa i use the word mom , so my vote goes to mom. Interesting i ve been in england a couple of time and havent payed atention to that detail..

Third person, I say "my mom, his mom, your mom" etc. But I call my mother "mummy". I voted Mom though.

Heh this poll should have been "are you American or not"

I use both. Is anything wrong with that?
And in Spanish, I refer to her as "mi mamá".

And when I'm talking to her, I call her either "ma" or "mami".

Crystal Mew

I say/spell it like "mom" because i'm American, and thats how the majority spells it :o

but sometimes I call her "mum" if I speak in an English accent ^-^

Mum. Because...(wait for it)...I'm British. Didn't see that coming, eh?...oh, you did...lol

Random: The usual Welsh way of saying 'mother' is Mam. I know a few of my friends like to say Mam, but I prefer Mum.

I say and write 'Mom' because it was what I heard growing up as well. Occasionally I'll say 'Mama', but mostly it's mom.

As long as it's not written as "MOM"--that's the abbreviation we use at work for Milk Of Magnesia
