Finding these pictures on the intarweb of these people in what seems to be a normal hotel and shiz, its scares me. This is one of the main reasons I'm not a big fan of anime, the crazies who do this.

And I found a goldmine here... http://www.thejasper.com/Pokemon/Ppika.html

I mean, its fine in the privacy of your own home, and homes of your like minded friends, but please keep it out of society in general, thanks.

So I guess show other creepy costume pictures, but no porn ect thanks, or instant ban.

I'd like to paraphrase Kainashi when I say...

You know we have a forum for this.

I see people like this all over the place when I go to the yearly comic/cartoon convention in Toronto. Ever hear of Sailor Bubba or Man-Faye? Google 'em up and prepare to go blind.

There was once decent costume I saw -- a Team Magma costume. It wasn't too bad, as it was a guy in black jeans and a red hooded shirt with a decent-looking Magma patch on it.

I wish people would at least make cosplay costumes OUT OF THE ****ING RIGHT MATERIAL. Spike's suit is neither bright blue. Nor is it felt. Vash's jacket is not really fucking bright cherry red. Nor is it felt. Here's a hint, cosplayers -- 99% things in anime AREN'T MADE OF FELT.

Creepy costumes in general, or creepy Anime costumes? If the latter, this should be in OA!

But I guess I'll assume you mean creepy costumes in general. But anyway, while I don't have any, I still have a comment.

Just a word of advice, don't use Pokemon to represent "Anime". Sure it is, but if you're gonna have it in the topic title, you'll get people like Last Exile coming in and whining about using Pokemon to represent it.

Also, to stay on topic, that's kinda what conventions of anything involve to represent the spirit. Maybe its lame, but... people use costumes a lot not only on conventions, but sometimes in serious public protests and demonstrations.

On the upside, googling that WILL make you about 30 million times straigher.

Gayer if you're a woman.

On the REAL upside, I've found a Tifa cosplayer who, save for the fact she could be slightly prettier in the face(She's not ugly, but she's not drop-dead gorgeous either.) she's a pretty spot-on Tifa.

Hmm... given the rest of the replies, this topic's leaving Misc.

Andy, just wondering - what possessed you to put this in Misc? Did you intentionally want to make us look bad?

Most cosplay is bad, granted.

But if you got the current issue of Newtype or looked at the current female picture thread at animenfo, i can assure you there are some mighty good looking cosplayer costumes out there.

Ah, you guys will want proof. I'll give it:

Unfortunately, the correct fabric is usually expensive. That's the complaint you usually hear from people who do historical reenactments, where they try to get as accurate as possible. Felt, on the other hand, is relatively cheap, and comes in wider fabric widths: 72" and 84" as opposed to 45" or 60". It's also easy to work with for nonsewers. You can glue felt and make your costume a lot quicker than messing with a sewing machine, matching thread, bobbins, zippers, hems...

There were some good cosplayers at the anime convention over here last year. One guy did a wicked one of Cloud that one the event. 3 young women did Yuna, one of which came 2nd. Plus this hot woman did Freya from Chobits and came 3rd. THey did that well because they chose characters they could look the aprt for and because they put time and money into their costumes. If you make crap ones, you look crap. If you make the effort, it looks great.

That said, cross-dressing cosplay freaks me out.

My main gripe is the color. Make it out of what you want, but at least color it right.
