I think my dad has decided it's time for him to get a new computer because he needs one that is really good at gaming for his Online NASCAR races. This means I will get his if he does, and my brother and sister will have the one I'm on now. :)

Mine:
Pentium III, 797 Mhtz
Windows XP Home SP2 (Though it came with WinME >_<)
384 MB RAM
27GB Hard Drive
Nvidia 2 GTS Graphics Card
19'' CTR Monitor

His:
Pentium 4, 1.6Ghtz
Windows XP Home SP1
252 MB RAM
80GB Hard drive with a CD burner (though the computer says it's 74GB and the burner kinda doesn't work for some reason after my sister got a virus on it...:()
Nvidia 4 something-or-other with the newest driver, I just know it's better than mine. ^_^)
15'' CTR Monitor

Both are Dells ordered directly from Dell.com. I know that there are a lot better computers out there but I guess it's better than both of us getting new ones. (He got this one a couple of years ago) His is updated enough for me, my main concern is getting that Burner to work, lol! ^_^ And he actually added some RAM to mine so I can probably get some more on his, but I'm not that intense a PC Gamer, I'm more a console person. :) I'll miss my monitor but I can see his pretty good on 800x600 resolution.

So, what kind of computers do you have at your house and what do you do when you get new ones?

We had a Packard Bell that was so horrible that it committed suicide out of shame (even the monitor exploded)

Then we got a Dell, then we gave it away and got this Dell, then my dad got that newer Dell and gave this one to me and now he'll get a new one and give his to me and mine to my siblings (I love being first-born. :))

1gb pc2700 ram

well, I recently bought some shit off my friend pretty cheap - athlon 2800 and radeon 9600 non pro

so I got a:

-280GB hard drive(s) useful for storing my porn, music, games, etc.
-17" lcd moniter...my parents gave it to me..hahahaha
-512mb ram
-athlon 2800+ but it is only running at 2600 speeds for some reason, o well
-radeon 9600 no pro..bought it off friend for around 50 bucks

not too shabby but I don't even play many games on it besides wc3, sc, and maybe the occasional call of duty.

I still like to laugh at people that spend like 2000 on pcs, dude spend the money on other stuff, I got this original computer for like $500 3 years ago and just upgrade a little bit at a time, and now it aint too bad..

You don't understand that some people just don't know any better. To them computers are confusing, and if they could choose between buying the parts for $700 and putting them together themselves, or going into a store and walking out with a pre-built one for $900, it's really a no-brainer for them.

well I dunno about most people, but I don't exactly bleed money so I usually do my research before buying a product that is over $100, I did the same for all my video games, my music shit, my computer, my guitar, etc., and it saves a LOT of money

I checked his again and it's a P4 1.80Ghrts 80GB Harddrive with 256MB Ram, and a Nvidia Geforce 4 he added, not the generic Dell one, so that means it probably supports Pixel Shading. All I need is another RAM stick and it'll be perfect.

He's getting himself one of these (http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/dimen_xps4?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn) beauties and all three computers can share the BellSouth FastAccess DSL Extreme Modem which means 3.0Mbps for all. :) He said he'd reformat them on Feb 27th for us to start using, I hope all goes according to plan. :)

Windows XP SP2
Pentium 4 2.66ghz (Northwood core)
XFX Geforce 6600GT
512mb pc2100 ram
120gb Samsung Hard drive (5400rpm)
15" LCD TFT Monitor
(some crappy Imperial Trigem motherboard I got with my old emachines before the upgrade)

I have a S-ATA 80gb hard drive but the new motherboard I got was faulty so it's just sitting in my case doing nothing, but I should be upgrading in the summer sometime so I can finally use it. But my old computer parts are sitting next to the current one although they will soon be going upstairs to my little brothers room when I'm done with the final upgrade of my current one.

Well, mine's okay, I suppose

Pentium IV, 3.0 Gigahertz processor
1 GB of RAM
111 GB of Hard Drive Space
nVIDIA GeForce 5200 Graphics Card

Dunno how big my screen is, and I don't really care :P. I think it's 17" though.

I have no computer how sad :(

I am looking but currently everyone is offering only cheap puters with 256 mb ram and 40 gb. While I could ask them to upgrade, I'm holding off for now but we'll wait and see. I really do wish though that computers coul;d slow down, because it seems you get one and its dated and old three/six months later.

Heh, might as well post specs since everybody else is.

Well, I just recently got my new computer. For a customized computer, it's okay but heck, it's better than my old P3 500mhz. :P I don't know the detailed parts of it since I didn't customize it myself but yeah...

Windows XP Home SP2
Intel Pentium 4 3.0ghz
1 stick of 512mb PC-3200 DDR SDRAM
ATI Radeon 9200 Pro (128mb)
Some kind of onboard Intel sound thing (6-channel :D)
120GB HD (dunno what kind)
Some fancy ass case (http://boinkwithme.com/images/comp) with lights :D
Some cheapo Accubass 2.1 speaker system. (Hopefully, I'll get new 6-channel surround sound ones :D :D)
Some extremely cheapo IMRI AccuVision 710TF 17" LCD monitor. (I'm supposed to get a new 1280x1024 CRT monitor :D)
LG 16x DVD-RW drive.
Microsoft Wireless MultiMedia Keyboard 1.1/Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse

Yeah...

Ah ha, my case trumps yours, most 'modders' don't seem to like it, but it does the job for me. *I don't have a pic due to the lack of a Digi-cam of my own* But look up the Thermaltake Tsunami (Silver w/window).

FP: You could see the quick upgrades as a good thing afterall, todays top of the range items will be cheaper a lot sooner due to the quick release of new components.

It's here! The XPS Gen 4 is here!!! My dad hasn't come to unpack it yet, but that other computer will be mine very soon, if not today then this weekend! Coincidently, it arrived a few minutes ago, and today is his birthday. :)

That is quite a nice birthday present :D. Hope you, your dad and your siblings all enjoy the computers you'll be getting as of consequence.

Well, here I am, posting from it! I even got a brand new desk. It's almost mine, except Dad still has to get his files off and wipe the drive and reinstall Windows. I'm VERY happy right now.

Oh, I forgot! The monitor always looked smaller on his desk for some reason, to me, but turnes out it's a 19'' too, identical to the white one! :):):)
