Oz vs The Missing Link. 2 on 2 Melee. Ref Please.

Well, TML and I are going to have a battle.

It's going to be a 2 on 2 Melee. Pokemon used, our Starmies and Kadabras.

My KadOzBra is Male. OzStar is generless.

The arena is an underground nightclub. It's a battle on the dancefloor 20m by 20m. Bulletproof glass floor with lights flashing below it. Dj around, playing some funky background music (Gorillaz - Dare!) There's a bar nearby where Rebecca and My Pokemon are going to hang out, play some pool maybe, have a few social drinks.... Apart from that, the venue has been rented out just for us, so yay, use it for our likes and wants!

We need a ref thanks. Rest and Substitute are banned.

What an unusual battle this is going to be. Both experienced trainers have decided on a double battle using the same species of Pokemon. This makes the battle so evenly matched that it will be interesting to see who wins. The battle arena is no less unusual – an underground nightclub that is completely empty except for the trainers and their Pokemon. The combination of music and colorful lights serve to set the atomosphere as the combatants take their places.

At the start of the battle, both Kadabras start glowing bright green. It seems they are taking no chances of getting statused, at least not while this Safeguard veil is still up. Meanwhile, the two Starmies exchange offensive maneuvers. OzStar goes first, spinning in the air before launching a series of sparks that pinpoint the opposing Starmie and strike it in succession. Chiron retaliates with a triangular beam glistening with fire, electric, and ice energy. The attack hits the opponent Kadabra directly in his chest, knocking him back a few feet.

Then two purple globs fly through the air in opposite direction. The one launched by Nightshade successfully hits OzStar. The starfish writhes a bit as the poison soaks in. However, the one that OzStar launched simply flowed off Nightshade’s body as if he was covered in plastic wrap. A flash of yellow passes by – KadOzBra has launched his own Shock Wave attack. A bright flash later and it turns out that Chiron has quickly set up a Light Screen to ward off much of the electric move.

KadOzBra attacks again, forming an orb of ghostly energy between his hands and firing it at his counterpart. Nightshade falls over as he takes the supereffective blast. Meanwhile, OzStar has been carefully studying its ally, noticing exactly how the attack was executed. It has successfully learned Shadow Ball, which will come in handy in this Psychic battle. However, it was quickly knocked back as Nightshade’s electrified fist collides into its body. OzStar must be the main target this round, because it also got hit by the blue lightning launched by the other Starmie.

Ok Kadabra, I want you to start off with a Shockwave on EVIL!STar then I want you to use a shadow ball to hit the other Kadabra when it tries to attack you with iron tail. Finish off by using a teleport to get out of the way of the skull bash.

OzStar, let's start off with Refresh! Then, teleport onto EVIL!STarmie so that it's thunderbolt will shock the both of you, and finish off staying on EVIL!STARMIE and using a shadow ball on EVIL Kadabra.

The second round starts and immediately, two bolts of electricity streak through the air from both Kadabras. Chiron tries to avoid it with Double Team, but the nevermiss attack hits it and knocks it backwards. Howeverm the damaged was reduced due to the Light Screen in place. Meanwhile, OzStar is also hurt from the attack, but it glows bright blue as it instantly heals itself of its nasty status effects (while using up a sizeable chunk of its energy).

Nightshade confronts his counterpart and charges at him with his tail glowing white. KadOzBra readies a ball of dark purple energy and Nightshade’s tail just manages to graze his opponent’s forehead before he was knocked back by the blast. The two Starmies face off as well. Chiron crackles with electricity but OzStar disappears in a flash only to reappear on Chiron’s back. Chiron was startled by this and launches its attack without fully preparing it. OzStar was sent flying by the semi-Thunderbolt, and Chiron suffered minor damage from the sparks that bounced off.

Even before OzStar hit the ground, it was blasted with another Shock Wave from the opposing Kadabra. It sure was tired of getting hit by electric attacks by now. Chiron spins in the air and flies toward KadOzBra in an attempt to perform Skull Bash (even though it has no skull). Quick on his feet, the Kadabra teleports away before the Starmie could hit him. OzStar takes revenge on its “evil” counterpart by launching a Shadow Ball into its back, knocking it into a nearby wall.

Ok ozstar, you can do it! For this round, if someone decides to hit you with a barrage of damaging electric attacks, use Bide. Otherwise, I'd like you to use a confuse ray on nightshade, then follow up with a rapid spin to hopefully knock his spoons from his hands and finish off by using a toxic on Nightshade.

Kenny Craig/KadOzBra, use a shockwave on Chiron, then a shadow ball. Finish off by taunting Chiron. If someone tries to status afflict you on the last turn, use a safeguard quickly.

It looks like Andrew is now referring to his Kadabra as Kenny Craig, which I must say, has a much nicer ring to it than KadOzBra. Anyways, Chiron gets off to a start this round by quickly spinning around and around until it was a purple blur. Kenny’s Shock Wave, aimed at Chiron, was nearly useless although small sparks still struck the Starmie to deal trivial damage. The other Starmie in the arena started glowing a mysterious purple as light emanated from its gem and flowed towards Nightshade. Nightshade quickly shrouded himself in another Safeguard and watched as the rays of light bounced off and faded away.

Chiron did another spinning attack and was soon followed by OzStar. The two collided into each other, which impeded their spinning and they were both knocked back. Out of the blue came a Shadow Ball orb which struck Chiron just as it was trying to get back up. It came from Kenny, who was smiling in satisfaction. However, his smile soon faded as he was struck by a glop of nasty poison from his counterpart, Nightshade.

Now it was Nightshade’s turn to smile, even as a glop of poison fell on him but quickly dripped off as if he was covered in plastic. He turned to the Starmie who used the attack and quickly struck it was a fist full of crackling electricity. Kenny stepped forward to give the opposing Starmie some harsh words, which enraged it to the point of attacking. Luckily, it was told to use Water Pulse this turn so it charged up an orb of water that was bigger than usual and fired it at its insulter. Kenny was knocked back as the water orb exploded all over its body.

Nightshade was still smiling since it had taken no damage this round while the other Kadabra will soon feel the agony of poison eating away at his health.

Ok, since Refresh can like be passed onto another through contact! I'm going to do that (Aka Azurill to Pikachu)So Starmie use a Refresh on Kenny! Kenny, protect yourself and Starmie whilst they attack you both and Starmie heals you with Refresh!

Then Kenny, use a Theif to stop Nightshade using that spoon kinesis crap, finish off by using psychic/confusion to hurl a bottle of alcohol from the bar onto Nightshade's Fire Punch, hopefully lighting himself up!

Oz Star, use Refresh, then a delightful Thunderbolt and finish offwith a tri attack of your own.

OzStar quickly jumped next to Kenny and embraced him. Meanwhile, the Kadabra set up an impenetrable shield and just in time too, because a volley of ice and lightning was quickly heading their way. The elemental combo smashed into the shield and subsided, doing no damage at all. OzStar’s gem was glowing white, and when it was all over, Kenny sighed as his poison was completely healed.

Chiron blasted a Tri-Attack which managed to score a direct hit with the opposing Starmie. But OzStar answered with a powerful Thunderbolt. Nightshade held out his spoon and psychic waves started to emanate from it. But that was quickly ended when Kenny swiped the spoon out of Nightshade’s hand! Now Kenny has two spoons while the other Kadabra had none. The result was a slight loss in psychic power for Nightshade.

Angry at this, Nightshade’s fist became surrounded by flames as he got ready to punch. Suddenly, a bottle of alcohol from the shelf behind them floated into the air and zoomed into the arena. It ended up smashing Nightshade in the head just as his fist came forward. Flammable alcohol got all over the Kadabra but due to Kenny’s close proximity, some got on him as well. After the attack hit, both Pokemon caught fire and started running around in panic!
The two Starmie’s were preoccupied with their own battle. A triangular beam of energy hit Chiron, while several yellow stars smacked into OzStar.

Starmie, start off by using a water gun, not in the idea of damaging, but for cleaning off Kenny! Then, let's use a Toxic on Nightshade's Eyes and finish off by using a Thunderbolt on Chiron.

Kenny! Get down and roll! Let Starmie cool you off, then, let's use a Thunderbolt on Chiron and finish off by using psychic/confusion to slam a few pool balls into Nightshade's face.

It was quite comical to see two burning Kadabras running around. Kenny acted first to stop, drop, and roll. Unfortunately, he rolled into some of the broken glass shards which cut into his backside. He felt a sudden impact and found himself pinned down by the opponent Kadabra. Meanwhile, OzStar’s stream of water came to the rescue and doused them both. Finally, Chiron had its own turn with a Thunderbolt blast at Chiron.

Kenny got out from under his opponent. He tried to follow up with an electric attack of his own, but his trainer’s command of Thunderbolt was completely unknown to him. Whoops. Meanwhile, OzStar’s Toxic was also avoided as Nightshade conjured another Safeguard, as Chiron duplicated itself so that five Starmies stood with gems gleaming brightly.

Due to Chiron’s last action, OzStar’s Thunderbolt missed completely while Chiron’s attack hit successfully again, leaving one very injured Starmie. On the Kadabra side, a cluster of pool balls were lifted from the nearest table and hurtled at Kenny. Nightshade’s assault was cut short when the remaining glass shards flew into his face, giving him several red marks to accompany the red star on his forehead.

Ok Kenny, let's Teleport away with Starmie while it uses Recover, and then follow up with delightful Shockwave on Chiron and finish off by using Psychic to Clobber Chiron with Alcohol bottles!

A ferocious combo rocketed towards Team Andrew – a blast of ice and a triangular beam of energy. Kenny rushed over and grabbed OzStar by the arms in an attempt to dodge the attack. But teleporting with another takes more time than usual and the first blast of ice hit them before they vanished, dealing minor damage. The duo teleported behind their opponents. Meanwhile, OzStar has healed itself of some of its wounds, although it’s still low on health.

Chiron became the target of the next assault. Kenny released a bust of electric sparks few seconds before OzStar unleashed a Thunderbolt. The sparks hit the real Chiron, destroying its clones, while a second electric blast severely weakened it. Chiron retaliated with a Tri-Attack, while Nightshade followed up with the same move. Both moves effectively hit their respective targets.

Next, the two Kadabras took some time readying their attacks. The Starmies needed no preparation. As Chiron spun towards OzStar, it was hit by another lightning bolt. The spinning deflect some of the attack, but it still did a lot of damage in comparison to the rather minor blow dealt by the Rapid Spin attack. During this time, Nightshade was wagging his fingers, then put on a burst of speed and slammed into Kenny. It appeared to be a Quick Attack. Kenny ended the round with a grand finale. He smashed alcohol bottles into Chiron, breaking the bottles and spilling alcohol and glass all over the floor. Chiron slipped and fell on the glass, which did even more damage. It was all too much for the Starmie and its gem blinked and went dim.

The fallen Starmie was recalled and now Team Andrew was facing a lone Kadabra. However, this Kadabra was in much better shape than his two opponents. He started off the round by creating some copies of himself until there were 5 Kadabras on the field. Meanwhile, OzStar glowed brilliant shades of color as it regained health. However, this was it’s second time using Recover, so it took a lot of energy. Meanwhile, Kenny nearly broke a sweat trying to lift a heavy bar stand with his mental powers. But it completely missed Nightshade and smashed all over the floor.

OzStar’s attempt at Thunder Wave was also foiled when Nightshade used another Safeguard to protect himself. And Kenny became annoyed as his Shadow Ball missed as well, leaving three more clones on the arena.

Kenny’s anger transcended into harsh insults that he spouted at his opponent. Nightshade went on the offensive just in time and released a burst of electricity that took a chunk out of OzStar’s health. The Starmie retaliated with a Psychic, attempting to jab the Kadabra with pool cues. The attack actually hit its mark and NightShade was promptly stabbed with the sticks.

Panting heavily due to all this mental exertion, Kenny crossed his spoons together to pick up the cues on the floor. However, they had a hard time getting through the Light Screen since they were powered by psychic energy. Only the tips poked at Nightshade, dealing minor damage. OzStar’s attack was far more successful, with a large ghostly orb smashing through the screen and knocking the Kadabra on his back.

Nightshade didn’t bother to get up. Lying on the floor, he relaxed his muscles and his mind. Suddenly, he felt some weight on him as the opponent Kadabra sat on him. Nightshade was thoroughly pissed off. Across the arena, OzStar also began to relax.

Neither Starmie nor Kadabra attacked during the next round. The frustrated Nightshade sent a current of electricity which shocked Kenny. But Kenny’s metal spoons resting on Nightshade’s back sent some of the attack back at him. Meanwhile, Kenny fell backwards from the force of the electricity and landed in a pile of splinters that added to the damage.

Team Andrew faced the lone Kadabra, thinking it would be easy to take down now. But they were instantly greeted with a bright flash of light that blinded them both. OzStar fired off several yellow stars, which hit Nightshade with great accuracy. But Kenny’s Toxic missed completely and landed in a sizzling puddle.

Nightshade teleported behind the two to make himself even harder to find. There was no escaping from the super accurate Shock Wave though. OzStar thought it saw a Kadabra a few feet away from him, so it launched a Thunder Wave. But that Kadabra was not Nightshade, it was OzStar’s ally!

Kenny’s muscles froze instantly from the accidental paralysis. Meanwhile, shards off glass around the Starmie took on a blue glow and floated upwards. They attacked OzStar, who was in panic because it cannot see what was hitting it. It managed to blow away some of the shards with a blast of chilled wind, but it still came out with nasty cuts. Kenny rubbed his eyes and could see somewhat better now, but OzStar’s vision was still badly obscured.

Neither side was willing to give in and neither was willing to risk anything at this point, so the entire tenth round consisted of bursts of super-accurate attacks followed by short pauses. Nightshade regained some lost energy while OzStar fired off a line of stars to hit him. Kenny was incapacitated for the moment as the paralysis got to him.

Nightshade retaliated by releasing several speedy sparks at the Starmie while its ally did nothing again, but relax.

Now it was OzStar’s turn to relax. Kenny regained control of his body and fired off another Swift and was hit by a Shock Wave. During this time, both OzStar and Kenny’s visions cleared.

All three Pokemon on the field were extremely weak, but their fighting spirit kept them going on. Yellow stars and lightning bolts flew everywhere as OzStar and Nightshade exchanged their superaccurate attacks. Meanwhile, Kenny looked into the not-so distant future to place a psychic attack.

OzStar fired off several blue sparks, but Nightshade flashed for a second before vanishing. The attack missed and the Kadabra appeared behind the Starmie. But Kenny’s Swift attack still hits its mark.

The Starmie was caught off guard by its opponent’s new location and a quick fist of electricity in its backed knocked it out cold. For a moment, it was one versus one. But Kenny shot a Shock Wave at Nightshade. The Kadabra was on his last legs and could no longer handle the attack. His spoons clattered to the floor as he toppled over.
