Gym Leader Tower

Welcome to the all new Gym Leader Tower for the TMP ASB League! Here you'll find all details regarding Gym Leaders, such as the rules surrounding them, as well as what you can get from them. Lets start off with the basics.

What is a Gym Leader?

You've played the games, you've seen the anime. Gym Leaders are challenges each trainer has to overcome if they wish to succeed in a league. Gym Leaders represent the best trainers in the area. They have well trained teams and tactics that ensure they win. A Gym Leader battle is no easy battle, but for a dedicated trainer, it's a must have.

How does one become a Gym Leader?

The first Gym leaders were chosen specifically for their talents, how long they have been at TPM and their overall personality and attitude towards battling. The second generation earned them by defeating another gymleader in a one-on-one baby-challenge that the mods set up to ensure new blood in the gymleaders. Future Gym leaders must earn their places, but this will be explained later on.

Battling a Gym Leader

To take part in a Gym Battle all you have to do is challenge a Gym Leader to a Gym Match. You can do this by PMing them, or just posting a topic with the challenge in the title.

If and when a Gym Leader accepts the challenge, they reserve the right to change or set the rules for the match as they see fit. This includes any Banned Moves, Damage Caps, DQ time or pokemon used. If a Gym Leader and combatant cannot agree on certain rules, then the Gym Leader can refuse to battle.

A Gym Battle can be no less than a 3 vs 3, but if it is a tag match (2 out at once) it must be no less than a 4 vs 4. The Maximum amount would be 8 vs 8.

If you win a Gym Battle you will receive the Gym Leader's badge, a representation of your success. This will be recorded in this very tower as a permanent record. Winning a battle will earn you the regular prize of points, but also a free catch or evolution. This freebie is redeemable for only one week after your battle has ended, so you can't save them up.

The Gym Leader Section

Gym Leaders, this concerns you. This tells you what you need as a Gym Leader, and what you are expected to undertake.

Requirements

A Badge
This can be anything within reason. An item that you create an intricate history for, a treasure of some-kind, or just a pin on badge shaped like something. It doesn't matter, it's your 'badge'.

An Arena
This can also be anything within reason. Your arena is unique to your Gym. Make it as complex as you like (though remember your match can only be played out as well as the ref understands your arena), or make it simple. This arena should be used for all your Gym Matches.

A Team
This isn't that difficult, you basically pick your Gym Pokemon out of your usual team ready for battle. They can be any pokemon on your team. The most important point here is that they are not taking part in any other battle. Be it regular, tournament or a contest, those pokemon must be free from all constraints. The same does not apply to the challenger.

A Gym Leader can have only one Gym Battle going at any time, but can do so outside of the usual battle slot constraints (currently set to 4, a Gym Battle would theoretically be a 5th).

As a Gym Leader it is your job to defend your Gym Badge. Should you do so successfully for two battles, you will earn a free catch or evolution. Gym Leaders cannot challenge each other.

The System of Winning

A challenger who wishes to become a Gym Leader must first collect all the Gym badges before they can make a play for a position. Until a new place is made publicly open, the only way to become a Gym Leader is to replace another. With all the badges on your side, you can choose to challenge a Gym Leader in a title match. The end result of which will always be a Gym Leader and a regular battler.

If the Gym Leader wins they can choose to take back their Gym badge. This is purely their own choice, and should they choose to do so, then you would need to battle them again, in order to claim it again.

If the Gym Leader loses then the competitor would effectively replace them as Gym Leader, albiet as a temporary Gym Leader. They would need to have an arena and Badge approved before conducting any Gym Badges, but there is also a catch to this.

In this situation, the defeated Leader can opt to battle to try and take back his or her position. The Temp-Gym Leader cannot refuse this battle, but they can set the rules as they wish. The results at the end of this battle are as follows:

If the Temp-Gym Leader wins they become a fully fledged Gym Leader. The Ex-Leader loses their position entirely, and becomes a regular battler. In order for the Ex-Leader to return to their position, they must collect badges the same as everyone else. If the Ex-Leaer looses, the newly appointed Leader can choose to give them their badge.

If the Temp-Gym Leader loses then they go back to being a regular trainer but get to keep their badges. The Ex-Leader is reinstated fully and regains their former position along with their badge and arena.

If a Gym Leader is defeated in a title match, they can choose to give up their title without a come back match. In this case, it would default to If the Temp-Gym Leader wins and be done with it.

Bias and Cheating

Gym Leaders found to be going easy on their competitors for whatever reason will be punished, most likely in a pint deduction from their account. The amount depends on the severity of the bias.

The same goes for refs, who play favour towards either the Gym leader or the battler. Refs will likely get a higher tax on their points if they are found to be doing this.

The Gym Leader Hall of Fame

All current and past Gym Leaders will be listed here, along with any battles they have taken part in.

Arena: Goldenrod City
A large, spacious city, Goldenrod has lost the majority of its population due to the arrival of the Hoenn reigon. There are many places to explore; the department store, which has medicine (restoring 5%) and various status ailments (although these can only be used once by each battler). The rooftop of the Department Store is also handy for aerial battles.

Aside from that, there is an aquarium with many various sized pools, as well as wide spaces for non-water types; The monorail tracks are high up from the battle and are long and thin; perfect for an all-out-duel, although electric attacks may attract the Magnet Train, which will slam into the battlers and deal 10% damage to each.

These places are acessed by simply ordering the command "go to ___", flying, teleporting or, in some cases, digging.

Sorry but some other places from Goldenrod arent in my Gym Leader arena. Just the ones above.

And my Badge: The Golden Rod Badge.

Legend has it that this badge is a symbol of Chris 2.0's secret desire to win the lottery and live a life of fish-based luxury. Others think it stems from the arena. Some think he was low on ideas. This sparkling, golden rod-shaped badge is actually made of 100% real pseudo-gold. Net Worth = 0.00001p

Hmm ok.

Okay, I don't have much time!

The Gym of Oz (Subject to change)

There is a large stadium with twenty-thousand person seating capacity. The roof is open, with shade for the audience. There are two large screens displaying what's going on for the audience.

In the middle of the Stadium is a large bouncy castle. This is where battles occur. It is INDESTRUCTABLE! (Also, no phasing inside of it). The castle is large, and a wonderful silver colour with blue and red trim. There are three high walls to bounce around on, but generally don't deflect attacks. Ground moves such as earthquake will generally shake the castle immensely, dealing typeless damage to all aboard the castle. Large Pokemon on the castle will generally fall over or have their moves miss as the castle makes sure their own weight pushes back on them.

Around the castle is a large moat of water, it's sides are sealed and the bottom has some natural rocks and earth kind of thing. It is about 7 meters deep, but obviously cannot hold a Wailord. Unless you start in the moat, it will usually take one turn to get into the moat. Getting out of the moat... however is a different deal, try climbing straight out of the water, back onto a slippery castle because you're dripping wet.

In between rounds, music of Oz's choice (My own) shall play throughout the arena. Also, no Dragon Type Pokemon or Charizard are allowed.

The badge of Oz. (This one you can do yourself! ) Get my avatar, print it out, curve the edges and apply it to a badge. (Down the bottom, if you want to, you can write "My personal Lord")

Arena: Death Gaia
The Pokemon fight on a large battleship in the middle of the ocean – the Death Gaia. Specifically, they fight on the deck, a wide platform that is the only part of the ship above water. The platform is large enough to accommodate any Pokemon. It is also very dirty, so sand and mud attacks can be used with ease. Ground-shaking attacks (Earthquake, Magnitude) will affect the platform and thus work. Attacks requiring rocks will work, although there might be a bit of a delay – the ocean floor is littered with rocks and boulders. Since it’s in the ocean, there is ample space for any water-faring Pokemon as well. Every few rounds, at the ref’s discretion, a laser will fire from the platform’s lone turret at nothing in particular. If a Pokemon gets hit by the laser, they are dealt non-elemental damage similar in magnitude to a Shadow Ball.

Badge: The Blue Blue Badge
A badge made out of an unknown dark blue metal, it is enigmatically shaped like the head for some costume. There's a chip inside the badge, so when you press on the center hard enough, it squeaks, "Blue blue!"

Meneltarma
The Pillar of Heavens

A tall, sacred mountain on the island of Númenor. The grass-covered base of the mountain gives way to slopes that become almost vertical near the summit. The kings of Númenor built a spiraling stairway to reach the top of the peak. It has a broad and flattened summit, able to contain a great multitude during important events, such as Pokemon battles of course.

Despite the great importance of the summit of Meneltarma, there is no structure built on it. It is only the rocky peak and the open air. No plants grow on it, and no birds or animals inhabit it. The only living things that go near it are the giant Eagles that circle above the mountain. They are considered the guardians of the mountain and all the land.
If a Pokémon should fall or be knocked off the mountain, one of the Eagles will swoop down to pick it up. However, this will come at a 5% penalty to the Pokémon’s health.

Badge: The Silmaril Badge

This badge depicts three ancient, legendary jewels said to contain the light of the world. This badge glows brightly and for all eternity.

Arena - Nightmare Canyon

A deserted canyon that lies on a slight hill. An open space within the canyon has been forged ready for an ambush. Across the sharply inclined canyon walls are an uncountable amount of sharp rock spines. While the smaller will shatter on impact, the larger would do more damage than thought of mere rock. Hidden within the rock spines are pores from which escapes natural gas. Explosive to the end, the gas can cause a major blast if ignited, either by flames itself or sparks from rocks striking each other as they fall. Fire, smoke and a rain of debris are sure to follow.

The canyon itself is made of a heavy and durable grey rock, which will not be massively damaged by Earthquakes or the like. Further up the canyon however, the rocks are much softer, and so there's always a risk of rock slides rolling down through the canyon. Also higher up there is a large lake, though unreachable from the current location, if it were to rain, it would surely overflow, sending waves of water down through the canyon.

The battle begins at Dusk, with the sun setting in the west. Golden rays light the sky, but they will soon fade as the moon shows itself in the east.

Badge - Sharp Edge Stone

Is it a badge or is it a stone? Some say it doesn't even exist in this plain of reality. It's certainly there, otherwise what evidence would you have? A shiny rock sharpened to a perfect conical point, and apparently smoothed over. However, touch it anywhere but the flat base and you'll find yourself nursing a nasty cut. The air around the the stone is a constant mist of different colours, as the sharpness of the stone is said to cut the very atoms of the elements in the air. Handle with Care.

Arena: The White Room

Trainers and Pokemon are transported into what looks like a large, sterile white room with a grass floor. When Pokemon use attacks that bypass an opponent, instead of leaving a mark or residue on the ground, it immediately dissolves. So if a Pokemon uses Toxic and it misses, it will get sucked up by the ground instead of lingering around. Ground attacks do a restricted amount of damage due to the depth of the soil underneath. Attacks involving rocks are completely useless since no rocks exist underneath the grass. The only attack involving the ground that will work to its fullest potential is Dig.

Every three rounds (starting with Round 3), the ceiling of the room will open up to reveal one of four things: a clear sky, rain, hail, or the sun. What appears is purely random and at the end of the round, the ceiling will close again until Round 6 rolls around. This will not reset when new Pokemon are used so if a fresh Pokemon comes out on Round 24, the ceiling will still open. If a Pokemon gets caught outside of the room, a Xatu will appear to teleport them back in but at a cost of 10% health.

Badge: The Conversion Badge

It's a basic white circle but once the badge is in your care, the white will change to one of the following colors each day: sky blue, navy, silver or gold

Arena: The desert.

Sand as far as the eye can see. There is one big rock pillar in the middle, shaped like an obelisk. Various strange symbols are drawn in the sand, but seem to dissapear now and then. There's a four turn Sandstorm, then two turns without. Weather-moves are only usable in the two turns that the sandstorm subdued, as soon as the two turns are over, the sandstorm is back. Earthquake is pretty ineffective due to all the sand; and the drought slightly lessens water-pokemon or water-moves.

Badge

A silverwhite round stone. Weak pokemon are supposed to gain unlimited power from it.

Arena: PokeNet

The trainers place their pokeballs in a special machine, which transmits the pokemon into a custom-made cyberspace arena. The arena is an octagon. The ground is made up of lime green pulsating squares with a grass texture. The sky is blue, with pixelated clouds and a pixelated sun or moon, depending on what time the arena is set for during the match. The wall of the arena is made up of pixelated trees, but should a pokemon manage to get past them there is nothing but empty space beyond, and they'll be transported back to the arena proper with no penalty. Though the arena is cyberspace, Porygon and it's evolutions recieve no bonuses. All pokemon will retain their original appearence, and will not become pixellated, nor will attacks performed by them.

The air of the arena is able to accomidate the specific pokemon taking part in battle. This is especially noteworthy for those pokemon normally restricted to aquatic combat. Those Water types will float in the air, and be able to fight as though they are submerged in water. They will also be surrounded by a thin water membrane, allowing them to breathe normally. The membrane cannot be damaged, so you can never attack the membrane and cause a pokemon to suffocate or anything like that, though it offers absolutely no protection against attacks. In order to avoid disrupting this system, weather attacks on a large scale are rendered unusable. Weather attacks can, however, be used in a small area and for a single turn. For example, Rain Dance can create a small cloud to soak the opponent in a single attack. Naturally, using the attacks on a smaller scale will use less energy.

Even though its cybernetic, the ground is able to function and allow complete use of Dig and Earthquake, as well as other attacks that effect the ground. All damage done to the arena will be repaired as soon as the attack is complete and all pokemon are clear. The repairation will never put a pokemon at risk, so don't try to trap your opponent in its hole during Dig to let the arena crush them.

Another feature of the arena is automatic object creation. The system will provide items for any attack requiring them for use, and the items will vanish after the attack. For example, a pokemon using Rock Slide will be provided a pile of rocks to use for the attack, though after its complete they disappear. In the same fasion, a mass of water (Surf) or stream of water (Waterfall) will be created for those water attacks. These are only examples, and all attacks that need any sort of medium or item will be provided. This applies only for natural attacks, however. No Alakazams summoning ray guns to fire Ice Beams or anything of that nature.

Badge: Cyber Window Badge

Those who are victorious over the PokeNet gym will recieve the Cyber Window Badge. As the name implies, the badge is basically a sturdy LCD screen, in a black case. The screen displays the pokemon that the challenger used in the battle, and in the background the symbol of the gym (A lightning bolt striking the water). There are 2 buttons on the rear of the badge. One switches the screen to show various camera angles of the cyber arena, allowing those who defeat the Gym to view future battles via the Badge. The other will switch back to the default display.

Arena: Mountain Lake

The battleground obviously is on the edge of a lake. The lake is in a small, forested valley in the middle of a mountain range. The lake is shaped almost like a deform mushroom and the 'top' is bordered by mountains that climb steeply upwards. Three small plateaus are up here, two capable of fitting two average sized Pokémon (say Suicune size) and one, just one. The two 'undersides' of the mushroom top have very old rock formations. Basically rough, dark grey stone that is very hard to break and makes for tough going for any Pokémon attempting to run on them. They are very low to the ground and do not get higher then your waist when standing on the grass.

The lake has three clearings adjacent to it. The mountains, rock and forest surround the one to the bottom left. The top right is between the lake, mountains, forest and rock. The last and largest field is along the 'bottom' of the mushroom. It has the lake, rocks on both sides and forest along the rest of it. The Gym Match starts here.

During the battle the arena cycles through the seasons. It starts in winter and when one Pokémon faints, the season changes. In winter, Ice type moves get a boost. In spring-Grass, summer-Fire and fall-Water. After one Pokémon faints, the arena changes seasons. The weather changes as well, in winter in snows (Hail) once every four turns. The same goes for the rest of the seasons, spring (Rain), summer (Sunny) and fall (Rain). You can change the weather all you like in between those four turns, but you can't make the arena weather change during the turn it's present. Also, you can't make it snow in summer or rain in winter. Once one Pokémon faints, the other is returned and the battle starts again in the new season.

Arena Picture (http://www.freewebs.com/river_eruannon/Arena.bmp). It's basic but if you need a better idea, there ya go.

Badge: De Novo Badge

http://www.freewebs.com/river_eruannon/De%20Novo%20Badge.bmp

The badge is about the size of a toonie (picture is actual size) and the same thickness. The leaves jut off the sides, but are not sharp. They feel like smooth waxy leaves. All parts of the badge feel like their respected image. The branches feel like rough tree bark. The background is cool to the touch and it feels like your fingertip is immersed in water. The gem in the top third is different in that when you touch it, you hear trees rustling in the breeze, water washing against rocks and the scent of a cool lake breeze.

Arena: The Safari Zone

The battle takes place over a large, open-skyed African Savannah in the Safari Zone in Kanto during Fire Red/Leaf Green times, where survival of the fittest is the one and only motto. It's a large arena, dotted with swaying Savannah grass and patches of sparse dirt with a few dead-looking trees that are actually alive here and there. However at the very middle, the grasses fade out entirely, receding into hard packed dirt with a large watering hole about twenty feet deep and the size of a large backyard swimming pool, for the water-types that would like to battle or take refuge there. The largest tree in the Savannah is situated about five feet from it, with one of its enormous branches stretching out across the water. Various Safari Zone pokemon are scattered throughout the outer edges of the arena, but most won't attack unless very provoked; as they are quite docile. If they do attack, expect a 5-10% damage counter in retaliation, depending on the species.

Sporadically, the Savannah will change season. It will always start out normal, with sunny skies and basic temperatures, with the watering hole about 3/4 full. When it hits the dry season, consider the weather to be under the same specifications as Sunny Day if it had been used. During this time, the watering hole instantly shrinks to 1/4 full. Next is the Rainy Season, with the same effects as what Rain Dance would do. Heavy rain falls, clouded dark skies, with numerous wet puddles and mud forming. The watering hole fills up to its full capacity. After the Rainy Season passes, things go back to normal, and the watering hole decreases to its normal size, and everything is normal again.

Some things to Keep In Mind:

-Weather Moves cannot be used. All weather changes are natural, and can't be changed or overwritten no matter how hard you try. This includes wannanbe weather moves like Sandstorm and Hail.

-Despite what one might think, the Savvanah is not prone to be set aflame. If a fire-type move is used, and it would logically set fire to the grass, it will only set fire to the very near area, tiny or small, depending on the attack, but it will not spread. For example, you set fire to the trunk of the tree. The fire will only burn at the trunk, and not creep upwards. It will burn until it dies out, or someone/the rain puts it out.

-Ice-types are at a huge disadvantage in even normal weather conditions, due to the dryer-than-normal weather, and their ice-type moves will not do as much, and they are that much more prone to using more energy due to the weather. The only time ice-types aren't at a disadvantage is in the rainy season.

-Rainy/Dry season will always last at least 4 rounds, but may go up to six on the Refs discretion. When one is over, it will either revert back to normal, or head to the 'other' season.

-Other Banned Moves include Destiny Bond, Perish Song, Grudge, Memento, Attract, Endeavor, Explosion, Self-Destruct, non-damaging healing moves (I.E Recover, but not Mega Drain), and Rest, although Status Healing moves, such as Heal Bell are OK.

-Toxic may only be used once per pokémon. if you miss, tough luck.

-I will choose first, the challenger will send out moves first.

Badge: Survival of the Fittest Badge

Just a plain, golden medallion with a shiny surface. Embossed on it, are various pictures of tough, Safari Zone beasts that change sporadically via holographic technobabble that I don't care to explain.

Arena: The Firefly

The battle take place in the silent world of space and both opponents start on the surface of the Firefly class ship, Serenity. Trainers are provided with space suits, and Pokemon with an indestructible, blue-tinged bubble of oxygen about their heads at all times.

While they are in contact with the ship’s surface, gravity holds, but as soon as they leave the surface, whether to jump in the air, or to dodge an attack, gravity takes a vacation and the Pokemon may go floating off into space. Luckily, there are handy space-Pokemon who will fetch back any Pokemon who does find himself flying away, bringing it back down to the surface with a penalty of 5(%) health lost through pure terror at the freefalling and lack of gravity.

Every sixth turn, the referee rolls a dice to determine whether Serenity is on the run from the Alliance, with a 30% chance of this being true. If this happens, all participants must use a full turn to hold on for dear life, lest they be lost in the depths of space. During this lost turn, however, each Pokemon regains 20(%) energy, as a result of sitting still and performing no moves.

The top of the Serenity is an uneven place, looking like this (http://www.fireflywiki.org/img/Logo-Serenity.jpg). Pokemon can move about the top of the ship at will, and even down the sides if they please, because of the built-in surface gravity field.

Rules.

*As space is a singularly noiseless place, no sound-based attacks will work.
*The same goes for weather moves, as there is obviously no weather in space.
*If a Pokemon loses contact with the surface of Serenity, they will be automatically transported back by one of the referee’s Pokemon, and lose 5(%) health.
*Each Pokemon may only use Double Team once, and instead of its normal lasting time, it will only last one turn, as the clones have no gravity to stop them floating off into space.
*Toxic may not be used, and any powder-based moves have a higher likelihood of failure (70%) due to it being easier for them to disperse.
*Also, Serenity may not be damaged in any way, as this would injure the crew inside.

The Serenity Badge

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y157/jingleweasel/Pokemon/TheFireflyBadge.jpg

This badge is only small, but very dense; and as such, feels very heavy in the hand. It's a clear, dark blue-tinged circle with what appear to be stars wheeling inside, if you peer very closely. The Serenity Badge is said to contain a piece of space itself, but this is mostly written off as legend, since everyone knows it's impossible to contain space anywhere, right?

*copies DL and blows dust off*

Actually, I'm here with a proposition. I say we cut down the number of Gymleaders to four. Let them change their arena's and badge, if they wish to do so.

Also, get rid of the temporary gymleader things, thus making the person who beats all four gymleaders able to challenge one of the gymleaders for a final match and taking over his gym if he wins. Then the gym is hold on hiatus until the new gymleaders badge and arena are approved.

Thoughts? Comment? Raging fists?

That sounds cool, it would keep the gym leaders on their toes and it would let aspiring trainers have something to work towards----earning their own gym one day, very very interesting :D

I know that the Leaders have been inactive for AGES now, but in all fairness, we need to be challenged by other members in order to actually DO anything. Since I was made a Leader, I've only been challenged the once, which is sort of annoying.

That's all I have to say on the matter at this moment in time...

Mew Master

Weasie has a point here. The Current Gym Leaders need to be challenged, however we also need a bit of time to get some stuff together before officially challenging them. My only challenge was against River (which ended badly I admit), and my other slots are usually filled.

So Weasie's right. However, it ddidn't help that we had a "dead spot" of nearly half a year in ASB and the Forums in general.

I wasnt here back then so I wasnt talking about anything bad with the current gym leaders :<

But since this topic is super old (going on 3 years old this july) I propose we make a new one and totally wipe all the list of the gym leaders and start fresh, those people who are gym leaders now can still fight to be one, but I think that to choose the next 4 gym leaders we should hold a tournament style battle in which every prospective gym leader fights against another, and the winner goes on to the next round, and the top 4 participants become the new gym leaders and are able to choose their location, symbol etc. Maybe to keep it like the show only a less complicated version we can have each participant in the tourney have 3 pokemon and have each round be 3v3 (I realise this will take a long time but kings do not rise in a day lol and their could be the typical DQ time limit on these tourney battles too so that if one participant fails to respond in a certain time limit they will be weeded out). That way everyone knows that the gym leaders are the best of the best and to surpass one they have to train hard and have a great plan of attack, also that will elevate the gym leaders to legendary status considering the trials they had to go through to be one :>

Then once the gym leaders are established we can go with MLG's idea, so once those gym leaders earn their way they have to stay sharp or risk losing their title (and gym leader battles that might result in a changing of the guard will be called Takeover Battles and will deff become hot stuff to keep tabs on :D). All in all it would most likely focus some new attention on asb because of the new and exciting events that will go on :D

MeLoVeGhOsTs
6th January 2009, 04:43 PM
I agree on that matter weas, as I'm a gymleader myself and have only been challenged twice, but we should really look into reviving atleast some parts of ASB. The gymleader method could be a great way to stimulate new members to try something.

I don't really like the idea of a tournament, because ASB tournaments take ages, and when I say ages, I mean AGES. I'm not done thinking about how they should be elected, I'm just pretty sure that eight gyms are to many to conquer for trainers, and most of the time only three or four are active.

I hope this will bring back some sort of 'quest' to ASB, as it really needs some goals.

I'm open to discussion.

Mew Master
6th January 2009, 04:58 PM
I know Tournaments take forever, and granted it does take a LONG time to get to that point to start. But will really kicking out the old guard do us any good?

Yes some Gym Leaders have resigned and some have been promoted to Temp Leaders in the mean-time, however the thing that we should probably do is advertise or emphasize that we HAVE Gym Leaders to battle, especially to the new guys to the Boards.

Consider the fact that if we do reduce the number of Gym Leaders, what is going to happen when the Boards hits their Annual Dead-Spot again?

Well isnt the point of having gym leader be that they are the best at what they do? Not just for the title of "wee look Im a gym leader Im special lawls". there needs to be a good way that gym leaders have to earn it so they are truely the best, and Im not saying this because I think I can be a gym leader, Im deff not good enough XD I just want there to be gym leaders that are gym leaders for a reason besides popularity. And a tourney battle would do that. Or, having the best win/lose record would be another good way if your opposed to the tourney idea :>

I never got chance to challenge a Gym leader when this was introduced. They were all busy as their was a 1 match at a time limit and there was a queue a mile long, then they got bogged down in dead matches and people forgot all about them etc.

Im definitely up for this to revive :)

Do I have to come second in another tournament again?

Mew Master
6th January 2009, 05:51 PM
If such a tournament was available, it would have to be available for everyone to participate (for sake of negging popularity). However just because one wins a single Tournament, doesn't make them Insta-Gym Leader methinks. It would also be the largest Tournament ASBs ever held, with a multitude of Refs, over a hundred rounds, and possibly spanning over two years.

TBH id say a decent Win/Loss record would be a better way, as well as General 'Veteranship' if thats even a word, and of course having a decent, varied and challenging team. I know it may sound like im attempting to give myself a spot but i think we should do this the same way they did the Mod selection process in Fic. Let people who think they qualify apply and let the board decide. It may go to a popularity contest but it all decides on how many leaders we want, and also if we want to do this soon instead of a 2 year long tourney to decide like MM said.

One thing i would alos consider is making the Gym Leader choose a Team of 6 that would be their Gym Pokemon. If there are people like me, my Fully evolved guys get overlooked in casual battles in an attempt to evolve the weaker ones (and so they dont overpower less 'equipped' trainers) and rarely get used.

If for example i was to get a gym spot, id pick 6 of my best and assign them as Gym pokemon. So if anyone came at me they would know what to expect. This would mean that even if the Gym leader is very good, the challenger would still have a chance because they know roughly what they are up against, just like in the Anime. Wasnt it Faulkner that was annoyed that everyoe kept showing up to his flying Gym with Electric types?

But then how do you keep it fair? Granted there are some here who have been on for years and have a larger lead than others. While some have been here for years and had.. oh say 10 matches as opposed to 25+

It's difficult to say who should be Gym Leader material without a vote or a Tournament (I think at least). I don't know how you would use a Win/Loss Record because such a thing would have to be considered on a Trainer by Trainer level due to the differences in battles and win/loss records being an effective quantification of one's abilities.

Just saying.

Ultimate Charizard
6th January 2009, 08:12 PM
I know what you mean. There are some people that take on all comers in wierd battles (and im aware i owe you a post, kinda busy at home in a funereal kinda way :( sorry bud) and then there are those that sit around waiting for new people to sign up.

The problem is i think a tourney would take way too long. Some sort of nomination/vote system would be better.

DarkestLight
6th January 2009, 08:20 PM
I don't like the idea of a Win/Loss Record for the same reason Mew has illustrated. What if you win a match due to lessened restrictions, but you lose another match due to heightened restrictions? Its too Trainer Specific.

A Vote system would be preferable, but I don't think a Tournament would take too long if it was just 1 vs 1 with a Pokemon you KNEW was going to be in your Gym Lineup.

Ultimate Charizard
6th January 2009, 08:30 PM
Yeah but a 1v1 is also screwed if you get someone with a Pikachu vs a Marshstomp or something. Theres overcoming weakness, and then theres having most of your movepool become useless.

Blademaster
6th January 2009, 08:36 PM
Maybe we could sign-up for becoming Gym Leaders, like we did with becoming Mods. And the four (or however many we'll have) people who get the most votes become the new Gym Leaders.

...Or... (idea) ...maybe whoever signs up will have to battle with whoever won the 'Best Battler Award' for a few rounds, and whoever does the best will become the Gym leaders! Yeah! How does that sound?

Ultimate Charizard
6th January 2009, 08:48 PM
Or perhaps use the Awards as a basis. They were done with no thought that the winners/nominees might become Gym leaders so theres no rigging going on. Look at the ones with Best Battler/most fun to battle/most likely to be champion nominations etc and pick from there.

Mew Master

Hmmm... a limited Tournament... possibly. Here are some suggestions...

1. Pokémon line ups depending on Gym Type. No one here is restricted to one single type like in the games. This gets rid of bias due to type advantage. We all know how easy it is to fly through the Gyms in the games because we have a heightened awareness of Type advantage. Kinda unfair, also to restrict Pokémon in a Tournament depending upon type advantage like we see it limited in the games.

2. If we have a Tournament, it will have to be available to ALL ASB participants, new and old, to see who has a better "mastery" of Pokémon battling. This would also require the work of EVERY Ref at 110% to ensure that there are no bias between battlers and that the Tournament flows smoothly.

3. The Battle should be limited in what number of Pokémon one can use (follow the latest PC discussion in the Chat), to start the Tournament, and then only use a few select from those numbers. For example, to sign up for the Entire Tournament one can only have Six Pokémon from their team they are allowed to call upon. Of those six, they can only use two per Round. The Pokémon will be fully healed between rounds and thus it is reduced to a 2v2 match up instead of a limited 1v1 or an extensive 3v3.

4. My suggestion, to keep Substitute Moves to a minimum is either limit the number of Substituted Moves as opposed as having multiple substitutes for a multiple of attack types (you ppl know who you are...). Or, to PM the moves to the Ref after the Pokémon are declared and on the field, after that well... I'm unsure if it should be kept going on as such due to cloging PM boxes ^^U

5. EDIT: OOOH! Good idea! If we start up a PC system that has everyone's PKMN cateloged then to start the Tournament their team of six is randomly selected from their entire line-up and thus they have to work with what they are dealt. Since Gym (and battles in general) force Trainers to think on their feet. Kinda like the Random Tourny, only your team is randomly selected.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Since I've expierenced many tournaments here, and only two have been finished in over four years, I'm against the tournament idea, since I stopped believing it a long time ago. If there should be a tournament, one vs one should be the standards, as we all know how long it takes to finish a match sometimes. OR we could try a five round match, like in contests. Time limit should help out in these matches.

Decreasing the number of gymleaders was namely because we don't really have much participents here at ASB for now and four should be enough, or else everybody would be a gymleader. Four also claimes the uniqueness of gymleaders, and gives battler a better hope on claiming all badges, since if you had to go through eight 4vs4 matches..

EDIT: And I like that you guys took my suggestions so seriously ^^

Crazy Elf Boy

Ok here is my two cents in this topic, I like the idea of a tourament which everyone can particpate in because it will give sort of an update of everyones skills.

At the begining of the tournament everybody should have a description of their gym, pokemon type, badge etc to show that they are motivated for this challenge.

Then each person will choose a pokemon from their team which will go well with the gym they have proposed giving the rest of us an idea of what to expect from them if the do become a gym leader.

Then each potiential leader is put into a lotto draw and fights are chosen by random, each fight should take place in a normal arena might have some terrain useful for ceratin attacks and stratergies.

Each fight will be a 1v1 and can either go for a set number of rounds or until one pokemon is knocked out (which ever you prefer). For something like this to work we will need dedicated refs and a low DQ time, maybe 1 or 2 days (possibly a tiny bit more, depends how long you want the tournament to go). Each round could be a knockout or a round robin which I would assume would take a long time so knockout might be best.

If we have as many as 16 entrys (which I assume might be the number we are looking at) it could easily go from 16 to 8 to 4. Which means the possible gym leaders would have to survive 2 knockout rounds. With a 2 day DQ timer and each 1v1 (from my experience) lasting about 5-6 rounds we could have a fair determination of new gymleaders within the month possibly less.

Mew Master

At the begining of the tournament everybody should have a description of their gym, pokemon type, badge etc to show that they are motivated for this challenge.

I agree more or less with everything you suggested CEB, except for the quoted bit.

1) We are not limited to just one type in our teams and ASB Gym Leaders in the past were not limited to one type either. So I don't think they should limit themselves based on a single type alone.

2) Not being limited to one type allows for a more challenging battle because one can't go rushing in with a team that knows one super-effective move and start dropping others left and right (I used the Games as a good example of why we shouldn't have Gyms limited to one Type alone, too easy to Rape).

However as I did state before. If we Do go ahead with a Tournament, it should be limited in DQ time, in Reffing Time, and we need eveyrone, (and I mean everyone) at their best. Refs, Battlers, and the people organizing the whole thing.

Asilynne
7th January 2009, 09:27 PM
Aside from pokemon type though, it seems Crazy Elf Boy has summed up how I would ideally like it to go quite well :D Itll test the seriousness of the potential gym leader, because they will have to be dedicated since they will be challenged often. So, yeah, I second the above ideas :>

MeLoVeGhOsTs
8th January 2009, 01:48 AM
Definitly low DQ times, I'd say two days for max for such a tournament. Exceptions can be posted in Abscence tower, methinks.

Knock out is the best solution, otherwise it would take to long. Life's though.

Only people interested should participate however, it's not we need all of ASB. If there are people who're not interested in becoming a Gymleader, they should not be obligated to participate ofcourse :)

I'm actually feel like battling.

PLUS: If you don't become a gymleader now, you can always do it the hard way and get the badges!

Crazy Elf Boy
8th January 2009, 03:18 AM
Thanks guys I feel so honoured people actually like my information, also what I meant about pokemon "type" was no matter how people say that they are non bias to all pokemon types their possible gym will always be based to fit in a with theme or given higher ground to a certain type of pokemon, this was the type of pokemon I was talking about

Another idea I had about the tournament if every participant PM's their pokemon choice to the ref so no type "stacking" will be in play, also attacks might be pm'ed so they have a lot more detail and show the ref and other people who read the battle that they have the right stuff to be a gymleader. Also maybe in the second round each trainer should use a different pokemon to show their skills with various pokemon rather then just one.

Feed back anyone?

Actually CEB, I suggested that to one pair of combatants I reffed for and it turned out they didn't like the idea on the grounds of unknown type advantage. Imagine tossing out a Clefairy against a Gengar. The most of your moves are going to be ineffective against it.

Crazy Elf Boy

Actually CEB, I suggested that to one pair of combatants I reffed for and it turned out they didn't like the idea on the grounds of unknown type advantage. Imagine tossing out a Clefairy against a Gengar. The most of your moves are going to be ineffective against it.

Undoubtedly you probably have reffed a hell of alot more battles then I have, but from the one battle I have reffed that did require pm'ing of the pokemon choices to the ref and the it was decided by the ref who went first by random. This battle did actually go quite well, in this case (which I expect to be a huge fluke) they both chose the exact same pokemon a Gabite, which is a Dragon type pokemon making both of them lethal to each other.

I just suggested the idea of pm'ing pokemon because it would solve the type stacking problem, but then I guess it would give the person who attacked first the disadvantage for the rest of the match which would make pm'ing attacks the only viable way for both fighters to have a fair fight. But then also it is a very arguable point that the fact the person who chooses first gets to attack second so they possibly have an early adavantage and would out weigh the negative effects of their possible type disadvantage. Then there is also the possiblity the opponent wont go for a type advantage but a purely moveset advantage (speed, variety of moves etc).

Am I thinking about this too much?

DarkestLight
8th January 2009, 05:35 PM
CEB: No. No you aren't.I am in full agreement of the PM'ing the choices to the ref before beginning the Tournament. It will balance itself out, and it will force people to make sure they play at their best.

MLG: I understand what you mean about the Tournament situation, but in order for this to work, as Mew stated, we all gotta be at 110%. I'm willing to give this a shot and I'm willing to ref it all >> (Though everyone that would like to ref can surely aid-I am NOT locking myself into that alone, lol) But we'll keep the ideas flowing here, It seems you all have it almost hammered out :o.

MM: The unknown Bias will not occur. Clefable against Gengar? That's a horrid example, Clefable will EAT Gengar alive. I demand you change that example NOW. In fact, I dun have a Clefable...I know damn sure I want one...Sorry for sidetracking that. My point was that if the Tournament was to take place and optimally we had 16 people, Just randomize the pairings, and then see if there were any severe mismatches, and we could even them out afterward.

Yo. Everyone. Progress made. Here's the deal.

Even though the first page here has the Gym Leaders listed, I'm pretty sure that's still pretty outdated. Whoever is interested to be a Gym Leader please PM me by Sunday. I want to gather this information asap.

If you are a current Gym Leader, please PM me as well if you are interested in keeping your position. Depending on how many replies I get, I'll be able to tell you how many Gym Leader positions are open.

EDIT: Please. Pm if you want to be a Gym Leader or if you want to hold your position. If you do not reply, I will hold that as you not wanting it. Watch this space for more details.

EDIT 2: As of right now...

MLG
Andrew
Weasel Overlord

are the current Gym Leaders. We will be adding a fixed number soon enough-hopefully by the end of today I can give you more definite details.

Edit 3: After another two weeks of me mulling over details, I decided to go ahead and get this sorted.

After the Legendary Tournament reaches the second level, I'll be able to start the Gym Leader rally. That way, There won't be 6 volatile matches going on and some people will be able to devote more attention to it. I will tell you the guidelines now-so have plenty of time to prepare.

1) To start this as fast as possible, PM me you Gym/Badge if you sent me a PM before saying you were interested in being a Gym leader. Once you pass the "Test"-you're going to be put into rotation immediately.

2) You will be randomly paired against a Gym Leader. If you beat that Gym Leader (or lead after 5 rounds)-yer over to the side. If you lose, well, you lose. Yer gonna do it the hard way then.

3) When all the folks that said they want to be Gym Leaders have had their battles, we'll pick the winners. If there are more winners than Gym slots, then it'll be a margin analysis.

I'll take any questions now.

Would I be allowed to spend my points on the gym. For Pokemon that will forever become linked to the gym and regardless of owner, MUST be used. I do want a Wigglytuff one day. So yes, Igglybuff would be on there. The rest... not so much.

Oh. Hrm. That a new situation.

You want them to stay there-even though you might lose your title. That would be a very unique prospect. I'll allow it, and we'll see how it works out over the year. I doubt many other people would want to leave Pokemon in their Team at any Gym if they lost it..

Andrew
17th February 2009, 09:58 PM
I wouldn't mind donating perhaps one of my Mimes, Driftloon and buying a few Pokemon for my Gym. Would there be a law making any future owners of the gym forced to use them?

DarkestLight
17th February 2009, 10:27 PM
Hrm. The Gym would have to follow a set of rules stating that if this Gym is taken over, these Pokemon come with it. I'd say this.

If they chose to keep your Gym, then they would have to use the Pokemon noted in the Gym. Otherwise they could create their own Gym, because some people may want to create their own Gym when they get past everyone. That can work.

Andrew
17th February 2009, 11:01 PM
Then all those Pokemon would essentially be sent to the dog food factory! :(

There are 4 Gym Leaders to date.

MLG
Weasel Overlord
Andrew
andddd ME!

Yes. On one of his quick moments alive, Hyp informed me of my eligibility to be a Gym Leader, and I accepted solely for this purpose :O. SO yay. There's 4. For now.

This now means we can have 8 Gym Leader slots. So don't fret, you all still have a chance. Basically, you just have to challenge 1 Gym Leader. Just one.

Whichever one you challenge will have one of six Pokemon. You pick one of the six, and the Gym Leader will pick one of the six. You two duke it out. If you win-Bam, yer a Gym Leader. Simple as that.

If you don't win-BAM, you don't. I'm pretty sure we have a slew of people eager as beavers to be Gym Leaders-so I also imposed one restriction so one person does not get bogged down with battles.

Right now I'm going to Post the Pokemon available for this Qualifier. There's only 6. Each Gym Leader can have up to 2 qualifying matches going at the same time (This is so everyone fights someone and 8 people don't just bog on MLG..)

The Pokemon are...

Cleffa, Igglybuff, Azurill, Happiny, Togepi or Ditto!

Basically, if you can prevail with any of these guys, then you're damned good enough to be a Gym Leader. n_n Any questions? Good. Then pick one, and pick a Gym Leader you wanna battle to earn a spot :O. Good Luck!

Andrew kinda disappeared. Weasie is pretty busy, so me and DL are the most 'active' ones for now. I don't know how many matches DL has, but I'm always ready for another match:)

Greyfox
25th April 2009, 12:28 PM
DL and Kirst have two matches already; I thought you did as well, which is why I challenged Oz instead... guess that bit me in the ass though -- I'll let Chris battle you.

DarkestLight

At the moment, everyone has 2. Andrew will resurface shortly, your patience is appreciated :O.

If you want, I can raise the limit to three. >>

Greyfox

There's no need for that, methinks... I can be patient. Unless you really wanna.

Dragonis
25th April 2009, 08:05 PM
I gonna sign up too, using Togepi. I'll take on whoever I can...

Andrew
26th April 2009, 05:59 AM
I've never battled with Ditto, Cleffa and Togepi. I wonder how it'll go. I imagine asking ditto to transform into a plank of wood with a rusty nail in it, is out of the question?

Maybe make it one big melee with you three having to work against me?

DarkestLight
26th April 2009, 07:32 AM
The only thing I can do, for simplicity sake, is make it a Multi Battle.

Each competitor focuses on the one Pokemon that is chosen to go up against them-yet you all can use one thread. That, I can allow. So theoretically

And vs Blade and Grey and Drag

Blade chose Ditto, For Blade....Andrew chooses...Cleffa. Blade cannot fight anyone but that Cleffa. And chooses Togepi for Grey's Togepi, they can only fight each other. Its a one on one evaluation to see how well you can do on your own as a Leader-hence a actual melee would not be suitable.

Greyfox
26th April 2009, 11:40 AM
So it's basically three one-on-ones at the same time then? I think that could work (also, I'm using Cleffa).

DarkestLight
26th April 2009, 12:21 PM
Well yah. Whenever he's ready to start it up.

I just thought of something, if there's room for 4 more gym leaders, what happens if only 3 (or less) of the challengers vying to be gym leaders win their matches against the gym leaders they chose? In other words, if there were only 4, 5, 6, or 7 gym leaders after all this, how would the remaining spot(s) be filled?

To me, it really reminds me how much of the Jeopardy! tournaments work, in addition to the 5 winning semi-finalists, the remaining 4 slots there are given to the 4 non-winners who got the most cash among themselves.

DarkestLight
5th May 2009, 08:57 PM
O.o To clear something up

Yes, ya'll get points. You just (obviously) don't get any credit toward yer Pokemon evolving.

After I finish my battle with Rossy, I might take you on, Chris. Wanna see how things fare >> I really like Cleffa. I'm bout to get one...

Yep, battle over. Guess who won?
Still, for one point it isn't that bad

Your not winning your way into this one buds.

6th May 2009, 01:23 PM
MLG, since the other Andrew is nowhere to be found and your battle with the KoT is over, can I challenge you with Cleffa?

MeLoVeGhOsTs
6th May 2009, 01:28 PM
Sure, I'm using Cleffa for all my battles.

Greyfox
6th May 2009, 01:30 PM
Then we shall see what's what!

Rossymore
10th May 2009, 03:34 AM
Due to a large explosion that caused MLG's Cleffa to become a small...dead...meteorite. I'd like to congratulate on Greyfox in becoming our 5th Gym Leader.

In a match I reffed too...*sniff*...so happy!

Plus I getz two points *flees*

DarkestLight
10th May 2009, 11:40 AM
MLG: *SMACK* I count! >> Why the hell wouldn't I?

Arby: Congrats. With your ascension, we now have three open slots.

Blade, Chris and Lanturn, you can swap your challenges for anyone else. Andrew's been gone a bit too long and you all deserve chances as much as everyone else.

MeLoVeGhOsTs
10th May 2009, 06:21 PM
Well you weren't a gymleader when we started this contest. It was me, Andrew and Weasie. I though you became a gymleader just for these try-outs. You'll have to beat me if you want to become one:)

I don't have a Gym-challenge pending right now, so anyone who wishes to face a gymleader; I'm open for challenges.

PS: Har har har.

Blademaster
10th May 2009, 08:36 PM
So if I switch, my options are who? Just Melg and Weasie? Or can I challenge Darkly, too?

Greyfox
10th May 2009, 08:48 PM
I think Darkly's busy with a few battles, as is Kirst. MLG's the only one without, as far as I know.

Also... does anyone have any ideas for my gym? Because I don't...

Hey MLG, I'll take you on using Togepi.

DarkestLight
10th May 2009, 11:45 PM
Choices available are MLG Weasie and I actually o.o... since both my matches finished. I'm pretty sure Weasie is in two, but you can backlog, I think one of hers are close to finishing.

I'm considering the option of having Grey be available for challenging as well for this tryout session, as he's made it as well now..I'll know how I feel about it tomorrow. Thoughts/comments are welcome.

MeLoVeGhOsTs
11th May 2009, 02:09 AM
I meant as original gymleaders, there were only three. Darkly IS available for gymleader try outs ofcourse. My apologies for confusing you:)

Also, I think Grey should wait together with the other possible new gymleaders before he can battle. Like waiting on a approval ceremony if you will.

Dragonis, you're on.

Blademaster
11th May 2009, 06:09 AM
In that case, I'll challenge Darkly. He's easier prey than Melg.

EDIT: Or better yet, since Andrew has gone AWOL, we could always cut him from the Leader team outright and just promote me to take his place here and now instead. :)

11th May 2009, 07:14 AM

Then they are all unworthy, weak and trash. Only the strong will survive in this world of madness. We shall slay and conquer until we overrule all.

Darkly told the newbies to Gym Leadership to post their Gyms, so here's mine:

CODENAME: B.L.I.T.Z.
Battleready Lateral Interstellar Template Zone

The arena is in the vast expanse of an alien planet of decaying ruins and broken, abandoned cities. Stuck in a state of constant and erratic polar shift, the planet is turbulent and unpredictable, and thus there is only one safe place to battle: the sky.

There is no specific Gym arena: The entire atmosphere is free to use. Both Pokemon battle from atop magnetic platforms that can alter in size from tiny plate-sized objects capable of holding a Caterpie, to fifty-foot dais that can support a Wailord. These platforms act as magnets to their riders, so there is no danger of being knocked off of them.

It is recommended that you use stick with special attacks during this battle: Using physical attacks require the crafts to burn much energy moving around as well as crash into one another. This will eventually cause them to lose altitude and crash, resulting in an automatic KO.

It is also recommended that you watch your altitude: Drop too low and you could get Confused by the magnetic waves of the ground below. Conversely, ascending too high could cause Freezing by the frigid upper atmosphere.

Banned moves: Moves that require the land or sea (Surf, Fissure, Earthquake, Waterfall, etc.). Rock attacks are usable thanks to the ruins below.

Altered moves: Sunny Day (The turbulent magnetosphere sometimes allows unfiltered sunlight to break through. Can cause Burns. Ever see the Golden Gate Bridge scene in The Core? It's kinda like that.) and Rain Dance (Magneticism = electricity. Starting a Rain Dance will cause rain as usual, but it will also cause superstorm-level lightning. If you see it moving towards you, you better watch out!)

Also, one last note: Since we're gonna be battling in the sky, shooting at each other over a barren, polarized planet, we of course need some badass music. Our battle theme will be Ikaruga's epic boss music: Butsutekkai (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i06V5uz4HKw&feature=related).

TEAM

THE ROOM
a large square room with no doors or windows. how you've gotten there is a
mystery, and how you'll leave is worrysome. the walls, floor, and ceiling are all bare and
white, except for one large orb-like device in the center of the ceiling. every three rounds,
the orb will change it's color to either green, black, pink, blue, yellow, or red. the walls of
the arena will match the orb the following round, causing unusual effects:

green - "venom"
each pokemon will feel their lifeforce drain: 1% per action (3% per round).

black - "blind"
each pokemon will be temporarily blinded: accuracy will be reduced by 50%.

pink - "regen"
each pokemon will feel their lifeforce recover: +1% per action (+3% per round).

blue - "energy"
each pokemon will feel completely revitalized: energy costs will be reduced by 50%.

yellow - "agility"
each pokemon will act with increased reaction time: speed will be increased by 1.

red - "wrath"
each pokemon will act more hastily, without thinking most of the time: pokemon
can only attack directly; attack power will be increased by 1; energy costs will be increased by 50%

during the battle, however, each pokemon will be induced with an auto-safeguard. the
only status ailments that can be afflicted to each pokemon will be the ones caused by the
white room. the white room will change in color every three rounds, using a random
number generator to decide what color the room will turn into. the room cannot be the
same color twice in a row, however. there is no water in the white room, however. all
pokemon battling must be able to survive on dry land.

Ok here is my gym open for business.

The Strategym

The Strategym starts off as a normal Indigo Plateau arena but as each round progresses the arena is teleported to a different site chosen at random from the pool of arenas by the ref. In each arena different things maybe happen but one constant thing is that a certain attack type will be powered up and one will be powered down. No moves or Pokemon are banned in this gym because anything and everything needs to be utilised for strategies to work.

The arenas are as follows:

Normal Field: The Plains of Karashi
The plains of Karashi are a vast near endless plains of grass with near to no landmarks. The only things that can be seen for miles are a great Savannah tree with many branches and leaves good for cover, a small pond filled with muddy water and a small outcrop of 3 rocks in a triangular formation.
Attacks powered up: Normal
Attacks weakened: Ghost

Fire Field: The Fire ridge of Orin
A deep red hot caldera on the top of a very active volcano. Several holes of boiling hot magma litter the battle field and will on occasion burst out possibly damaging the pokemon currently out. It also has a pesky habit of overflowing the magma beneath onto the battle field, the only areas on this field that are safe from this magma are a hardened wave of rock on the east and west side of the field. (Fire pokemon are not affected by the lava.)
Attacks powered up: Fire
Attacks weakened: Water

Water Field: Island of Noshi'Korota
A small secluded sandy island in the middle of a vast deep ocean. The island contains a single coconut palm tree with 3 coconuts (use them as you wish) medium length grass lazily sways back and forth from the gentle ocean breeze while it is girt by pure white sand of the finest quality.
Attacks powered up: Water
Attacks weakened: Fire

Electric Field: Thunder Fields of Adorna
A field of blackened soil and charred earth, the fields of Adorana are always constantly under siege by a never ending thunderstorm of a dangerous class. Gale force winds make it nigh impossible to fly and constant thunder strikes batter the ground without relent. (Electric Pokemon are immune to the Lightning)
Attacks powered up: Electric
Attacks weakened: Flying

Grass Field: The Forest of Satarashi
This battle field is deep within the forest; it is strewn with tree roots, entangling vines, hollow trunks and the fruit of the nearby trees (Not all of them beneficial). The grass here is in varying heights from very long on the outsides and growing short in height as they reach the middle to be only an inch high.
Attacks powered up: Grass
Attacks weakened: Ground

Ice Field: Ice Caves of the Bogra Titans
A cave of pure ice carved in perfect circles like it was done with a machine or a very large animal. Its surface is smooth and will cause near to no friction at all, stalagmites are on the ground beneath while stalactites precariously hang from the ceiling above even the slightest shake might bring them down.
Attacks powered up: Ice
Attacks weakened: Rock

Fighting Field: Dojo of Mahareta
Just a standard fighting dojo with many ornate armour and swords donning the walls (wink) and tatami mats lining the floor beneath, there are four pillars that hold the dojo off the ground they are sturdy but can be broken with enough force.
Attacks powered up: Fighting
Attacks weakened: Dark

Poison Field: Sludge fens of Ruguon
A proverbial sea of waste coming from the many inhabitants of the world just chucked in one place causing to it form into a amorphic sludge of a blackish purple nature. The field is dotted with small puddles of the waster as well as having the shore of the sludge sea on the eastern side of the field, any contact with this sludge may result in poisoning (Poison pokemon are immune to this affect)
Attacks powered up: Poison
Attacks weakened: Grass

Ground Field: Labyrinth of the Kualas Minotaur
This labyrinth is almost impossible to solve yet after the many centuries it has stood the walls of it are now very brittle and are on breaking point. The maze has no ceiling to speak of so jumping on the walls to "cheat" is always a possibility.
Attacks powered up: Ground
Attacks weakened: Electric

Flying Field: Tree tops of the Satarashi forest
Now into the tree tops of the Satarashi forest the air is open and the breeze is gentle. Flying pokemon will have a big advantage here since there are no obstacles to get in their way and the air conditions are right for flying. The tops of the trees are sturdy enough for most pokemon to stand on them and can be easily hopped from one to the next like platforms.
Attacks powered up: Flying
Attacks weakened: Bug

Psychic Field: Gravity Chamber
A huge glass chamber with gravity constantly beating down on the fighters making movement harder, physical attacks are harder to do while special attacks are easier to perform.
Attacks powered up: Psychic
Attacks weakened: Fighting

Bug Field: Hives of the Mirashi Wasps
A gigantic bee hive with hexagon shaped holes in the walls all dripping with honey. There is a possibility that a swarm of bees will blanket the field and cause Bug type damage to both combatants. There is some honey on the floor as well this is extremely sticky but can be removed by shaking wildly.
Attacks powered up: Bug
Attacks weakened: Dragon

Rock Field: Blockstone Quarry
A giant stone quarry with deep white walls made from pure stone. There are a few digging machines around the field as well as piles of cut up rocks which can be picked up and thrown. The ground in the quarry is sort of hard but easy enough to dig through.
Attacks powered up: Rock
Attacks weakened: Ice

Ghost Field: Ghost ship
An eerie broken up ghost ship docked in an old harbour, there a numerous holes in the sides of the ship to due old age and wood rot. The sail are tattered and as you go into the bowels of the ship there are several plants growing on the sides of the walls and possibly a random ghost pokemon floating through. The floors of the decks are very brittle and might break if stepped on too hard.
Attacks powered up: Ghost
Attacks weakened: Normal

Dragon Field: Birthing grounds of the Sky Dragons
A series of pillars on top of a mountain several thousand metres above the ground. It is a very dangerous field because both fighters need to hop from one pillar to another to get to each other unless they can fly. If a pokemon falls off then they are rescued by a mysterious dragon but at the cost of 5HP.
Attacks powered up: Dragon
Attacks weakened: Steel

Dark Field: Bat Caves of Androzeni
A pitch black cave with next to no visibility what so ever, Dark type pokemon have no problem seeing in this cave. There is also a possibility that a swarm of bats will fly through the cave and possibly damage both pokemon with Dark type energy.
Attacks powered up: Dark
Attacks weakened: Psychic

Steel Field: Cliemen’s Steel Mill
A normal run of the “mill” steel mill. There are random machines going on and off beeping all the time running numerous tests. Huge steel beams swing over head held together by fragile cables which may break at any second. Other then that there a piles of steel beam lying on the ground which provide excellent cover and shields.
Attacks powered up: Steel
Attacks weakened: Poison

Arena: The desert.

Sand as far as the eye can see. There is one big rock pillar in the middle, shaped like an obelisk. Various strange symbols are drawn in the sand, but seem to dissapear now and then. There's a four turn Sandstorm, then two turns without. Weather-moves are only usable in the two turns that the sandstorm is subdued. As soon as the two turns are over, the sandstorm is back. Earthquake is pretty ineffective due to all the sand; and the drought slightly lessens the power of water-pokemon or water-moves.

Gym
Temple of the Yoroi

You finished climbing the mountain of stairs to reach this ancient training ground. A solitary pagoda-style roofed home awaits you at the top. Entering this space, you only see darkness, until the torches flare up on their own in a square, outlining the edges of the arena.

Along the walls however, is the "ace in the hole" so to speak. There are 9 armors in total, standing around the arena, as if to judge the match for themselves. At any time, they may come to life and join in the battle. They will stay in the battle no longer than 2 rounds, and will inflict comparable damage to either enemy using only Normal, Fighting and well Steel attacks (since I mean, its armor...). Or they may aid in some sort of healing endeavor (cure blindness, remove poison, stuff like that) depending on how the armor wants to act..

However, if you are clever enough to harness the power of the Armor-you will gain that Armor for the rest of the 2 round Period. All attacks by the opponent will still hit the wearer for normal damage (You don't gain a resistance to grass if yer wearing the Fire armor, bascially.) with the exception of Normal attacks (that will be halved.). Harnessing the armor means to think like the armor at the exact same time.

You will be able to use the Armor's signature elemental attack at any time until the Armor departs. Once that attack is used-the armor will lose most of its power and return to the edge of the arena. You will also need an action to recharge (Its a *ridiculously overpowered* combo move basically) and an orb will light up in its corresponding color....

....the secret of the orbs however, remains a mystery...

The armors and attacks are:

Wildfire (Fire)~Flare Up Now (Flare Blitz+Blast Burn)
Torrent (Water)~Super Wave Smasher (Crabhammer+Hydro Cannon)
HardRock (Rock)~Iron Rock Crusher (Rock Slide+Rock Wrecker)
Hailo (Electric)~Thunderbolt Cut (Charge+Thunder+Volt Tackle)
Strata (Flying)~Arrow Shock Wave (Aeroblast+Hyper Beam)
Shadow (Dark)~Black Lightning Slash (Faint Attack+Dark Pulse)
Illusion (Psychic)~Web of Deception (Trick Room+Psychic)
Wrath (Steel)~Quake With Fear (Gyro Ball+Magnet Bomb)
Delusion (Poison)~Snake Fang Strike (Cross Poison+Toxic*)
