Making an open challenge. Hopefully I'll get a ref this time.

You make the rules, I don't really care except to ban explosion and self-destruction if you are making it something else then 1vs1

Hooray a ref! :D

Anyway, I guess we can start now frylock. Said I would send out first, so I'll use my latest catch.

Go Obito, my male meditite

frylock
31st August 2006, 02:18 PM
I'll send out Boss, my Treecko.

Alright, boss. Shoot up and hit him with Aerial Ace. Then, while your in close, Crunch 'em. End the round with a Slam.

Also, can counter/Mirror Coat be banned?

Silencer
31st August 2006, 02:31 PM
Sure, no problem.

Alright Obito, read his mind. Then he wants to get close? Let's knock him way back by using a Dynamic punch, you should now where he is headed. Then finish it with a psychic to know him back.

Mind Reader~Dynamic Punch~Psychic

Also is it ok to ban toxic? IMO it gives some unfair advantages (as demonstrated in my match with Dark Sage somewhere around here) and I forgot to add it to the ban list.

Sure. Meh, that's what I get for going on the offensive.

*Battle*
The 2 trainers arrive at the desert arena, raring for battle. The first, Silencer, reaches down to his belt and unclips a brand new pokeball. Shouting "First battle time, Obido", he chucks the ball to the dusty floor. It sends up a small cloud of dust as it opens, bright light disipating to reveal a calm looking Meditite, knees crossed and eyes closed. The pokemon doesn't look all that eager for battle, and the challenger, frylock, grins. Tossing his own pokeball to the ground, he summons forth a small, leafy gecko named Boss. The 2 trainers each shout their first set of commands, and the 2 pokemon nod.

Taking the initiative to attack first, Boss looks at his calm foe for a moment before rushing toward him. As he nears the fighting type, he rears back and leaps into the air at impressive speed for a lizard. He soars through the air, leaving a stream of disturbance in his wake, and slams right into Meditite, sending the pokemon tumbling backwards with a grunt as Treecko digs his claws into the ground and stops himself. Keeping his cool, Obito hovers back into a meditative position, and finally opens his eyes. They glow an eerie purple as he digs deep into Boss' mind, ascertaining exactly what he plans on doing in the next few moments.

With his new found knowledge of the Treecko's psyche, Obito holds his fist at the ready. He skillfully channels chi into his fist, causing it to glow brightly. Meanwhile, Boss, unaware of his foe's precognition, once more dashes at the Meditite holding his mouth open. Between his small teeth, crackles a black and destructive energy. As he reaches the target, he lunges his head forward, bearing darkened teeth savagely. But Obito is expecting exactly this, and just as Treecko attacks, he leaps sideways, deftly dodging the attack. And he not only dodges, but at the same time he swiftly swings his shining fist around, backhanding Boss from behind with a powerful blow. The gecko lets out a suprised cry as he is thrown forward by the force, landing face first on the dusty earth. Slowly standing, and feeling a bit dazed by the chi energy in Meditite's attack, Boss lets out a groan.

Though he stumbles a bit, it doesn't take long for Boss to go back on the offensive. The swift grass type is still quite close to the fighter, and a quick leap gets him right back into range for his attack. With an angered cry, he spins his body around, bringing his twin leaf tails into position for a crushing blow to Obito. The attack hits him square in the face, and he winces and rubs his injury, looking rather annoyed. Without hesitation, he holds out his arms toward the grass type, who is off-balance thanks to the confusion. Obitio's eyes shimmer a bright blue, as an aura of the same color covers Boss. The lizard is lifted from the ground, with a look of horror in his eyes. He is soon hurled away with a powerful psionic force, and flies a distance before slamming into the dusty ground once again.

Treecko still seems to be under the effects of confusion, as he carefully pushes himself to his feet before falling right back down again. Quite satisfied, Obito sits back down on the ground and crosses his legs, reentering into his meditation as though nothing had happened, though he still bears a bruise on his face as evidence that something did in fact happen.

Boss is female-she's named after Boss from MGS3.

Boss, use Double Team so he won't Bulk up. Then, when he goes in fo the mega punch, try to crunch him, preferably on the head. For your third action, hold onto the crunch, it should break his concentration. If he soeho manages to get free, use Giga Drain.

The 2 trainers stand ready, enjoying the warm sunlight for a moment. Then, each turning to their pokemon, they issue a set of commands for them for Round 2. They nod and give grunts of affirmation, and then glare at one another briefly before the fighting begins.

Boss the Treecko (who is actually female... my bad) starts to concentrate carefully, closing her large eyes, and feeling suddenly free of the disorientation she had been experiencing. In moments, a duo of clones appear beside her. All 3 of the grass lizards open their eyes and smile to Obito playfully. But the meditative pokemon remains calm as always, and holds his hands out in front toward the trio, still sitting cross-legged. A small orb of white light builds between his palms, and then starts to blast out a stream of starshape rays. They slice through the air toward the wood geckos, starting with the leftmost one. Obito sweeps the stream of rays across all 3 Treecko, dissipating the 2 illusions and cutting across the real Boss, who winces and wimpers.

The assault over, and knowing that she prevented her foe from powering up, Treecko waits patiently for her foe to make the first move. Obito seems a bit cautious, knowing that the gecko is more agile than he, but decides to go on with his attack regardless. He gets to his feet, and then dashes toward the grass type, while his fist glimmers with energy. Reaching Boss, who appears ready for something, he swings his energized fist forward at the lizard. But Treecko has no intention of letting herself take the hit, and she leaps to the side and out of the way as a powerful darkness crackles between her jaws. Meditite looks suprised as his fist cuts through thin air, and his eyes open wide as Boss leaps at him from the side, slamming her small but developed jaws onto his skull. He cries out as he feels the teeth sink into his head, and at the same time feels a powerful dark energy flowing into him. Boss continues to clamp down on Meditite, but this has an unexpected consequence. Being roughly the same size, having the Treecko clinging onto one side puts the fighting type off balance, and Obito falls sideways with the gecko still clinging to him. This leaves Boss to bear the brunt of the fall, being slammed against the ground under Obito, and she yelps in pain, subsequently releasing the meditative pokemon.

Meditite pushes himself to his feet, taking the chance to get away from the fierce bite, and rubbing his injured head. But Boss recovers just as fast, using her tail to spring her back up into attack position. Though her initial strategy is foiled, she continues her attack by leaping at Obito, and grabbing his arm with her clawed hands. As the two make contact, Treecko's body starts to shine a bright green color, and an aura of green covers both pokemon. Beads of rainbow colored energy are pulled out of the psychic type, crawling along his skin and over to Boss, where they are absorbed by her body. Obito tries to pull his hand free, but the wood gecko has a solid grip, and he feels helpless as the energy is drained. When Boss is finally satisfied and has exausted the energy for the attack, she releases her foe and jumps back, looking rather spry and rejuvinated. Meditite glares at the lizard, feeling rather annoyed, and starts to concentrate. Despite his head wound, the experienced psychic is able to tap into his powerful mind, his eyes glowing a deep pink. The humanesque pokemon releases a psionic distortion, which causes the air to ripple on its path toward Boss. She starts to feel a strange sensation in her mind, and cringes, holding her skull as if trying to block out the pain. Feeling momentarily dizzy, Treecko lets out a jumbled grunt.

The air soon returns to normal, the ripple effect ceasing as Obito stops his attack. Boss looks rather relieved, her mind clearing of the disorientation, as Meditite yet again sits on the ground, letting his own mind calm itself. A slight breeze starts to blow over the hot arena, a possible preview of things to come.

*Battle*
The trainers' clothing blow in the light breeze, and one can almost imagine a western theme playing as the two face off in the desert. But rather than guns, they quick draw a set of 3 commands to their pokemon, who grunt in reply.

Boss makes the first move, taking in a deep breath. As she does, a flame of emerald starts to grow within her jaws as she gathers draconic energy. While she prepares for attack, Obito gets ready to defend himself. He holds up his hands, making circles with his thumb and middle finger and humming. As Meditite works to summon up a few illusory doubles, Boss lets out a cry as she spits out a stream of dragonfire through the dusty air at him. The green flames get closer and closer, but finally Obito opens his eyes just as a pair of clones appear beside him. He grins nervously, hoping that luck is with him as the flames reach him. But unfortunately, its not the psychic type's day, and he lets out a roar as he feels the mystical flames engulf him. As he is pummeled with the energetic blast, his concentration is shot, and the clones disappear as abruptly as they first came. Boss' attack eventually exausts itself, and she closes her mouth and grins as a hurt Meditite.

The wood gecko makes good use of her opponents distraction from her last attack, and she crouches as her powerful legs propell her into the air and straight at Obito. It takes mere moments for her to reach the target, leaving a stream of disturbed air in her wake. She delivers a solid tackle, sending him flying back while she quickly touches down to the ground, leaping toward Obito again without a moment of rest. Taken by suprise by the attack, Meditite attempts to grab hold of the lizard who is once again rushing him, but even his mind can't follow something moving that fast. Retaining the speed, Boss' tails shimmer with a metallic sheen as she nears her foe, who is still flying back. The grass type swiftly flips herself, slamming her twin iron tails into Obito's stomach and hurtling him into the ground. Obito lets out a pained cry as he is smashed into the ground, throwing up a huge cloud of dust as Boss digs her claws into the ground, sliding a few feet and coming to a stop. Meditite slowly pushes himself to his feet, pain on his face and coughing from the dust, but he's ready for some revenge now. His eyes glimmer blue while he holds out his hand toward Boss. As he raises his hand, the psionic force pulls on the Treecko's feet and lifts her into the air. She is soon spun around repeatedly, before the psychic hold is released and the helpless grass type is tossed through the air. Crashing into the dust, she lets out a stifled cry.

Feeling rather tired from her previous combo, Boss merely stands up and breaths heavily, unable to do anything else this round. But Meditite has no such limitation, and he's going to take the opportunity. He holds his fist outstretched, starting to build up energy around it. The fist begins to glow lightly, but steadily increases in brightness and size for quite some time, while Treecko stands idle, recovering from her prior assault. Obito takes his time charging energy, but he soon reaches his power limit, and dashes toward the gecko with a devious look in his eyes. Boss holds her hands out, hoping to block the attack, but such a powerful blow is near impossible to block. Her hands give way and fly into her chest as Obito powerfully swings his fist around, bringing it to bear on his grassy foe. The sheer force of the attack sends Boss flying through the air, after letting out a loud scream of pain. Once again, she finds herself landing hard on the dusty ground, kicking up another cloud of the stuff. The glow surrounding Obito's fist dies down as he pulls it back, grinning.

Both pokemon have sustained rather powerful attacks this round, but they're not quite ready to give up just yet. The trainers look on as the gentle breeze over the arena continue.

As the sand people watch in awe, the battle continues to rage. The trainers glare at one another, each determined to win. They shout their orders to their pokemon, and each one nods silently, concentrating on the battle.

Getting ready for the opponents' approach, Boss opens her mouth, preparing to fire a barrage of seeds from her gut. Obito merely smiles, before looking suddenly serious. Utilizing a blinding speed, he suddenly appears directly in front of Treecko, in a mere matter of milliseconds. The lizard widens her eyes, taken off guard by the fighters' crazy speed. But she has little time to react, as Obito sweeps one leg forward and knocks the wood gecko off balance. Without a second thought, his knuckles are engulfed in flames as he channels energy to his fist, and he thrusts his burning hand forward. The blow is a direct hit to Boss' stomach, and she lets out a pained gasp as she feels a searing pain and is thrown back by the attack. Landing on her back, the grass type pushes herself back up, regaining her breath after the powerful punch knocked the wind out of her. Obito looks smugly as he looks at his foe, who is stunned enough to forgo a counterattack.

Ready to distance the two once again, Obito clears his mind and his eyes glow. Boss feels herself lifted from the ground, hovering in midair as a cerulean aura shimmers around her body. She tries to struggle and free herself, but to no avail against the strong mind of the meditate pokemon. Treecko suddenly feels a force push against her, and she yet again is hurled through the air and away from Obito. Another cloud of dust is thrown up as the battered grass type slams into the ground, a resounding thud and grunt accompanying it. As the dust clears, Boss is seen determinedly standing, eyes closed in deep focus. A gentle red aura eminates from her, and abovehead the few small clouds disolve, and the sunlight intensifies. Phew, talk about hot... not only is it a desert, but now we've got bright sun to deal with. Meditite has sat down and crossed his legs once again, returning to his meditation, but even he's starting to sweat now.

With Obito back in meditation, and tired out from his combo anyway, that leaves Boss a great opportunity to attack. Using all of her plant cells, she starts to gather a great deal of the intense sunlight into her body, and she holds out her arms. As the sunlight gathers, Boss is transfering all the energy between her palms, and a marble of pure solar energy forms. It steadily grows in size, getting larger and larger as sunlight is gathered. She widens her hands to allow full growth. Acting quickly, she releases the blast of light, sending out a huge and powerful white beam towards Obito. The energy impacts his body, surrounding him in power and bombarding him with a solar blast. The sheer strength of the attack sends him hurtling back, increasing the distance between the 2 even more while he lets out a pained cry. It seems to go on forever, but eventually Boss exausts her solar reserves and the beam dies down to nothing. Meditite groans, his skin aching from the onslaught, as he pushes himself up with his hands.

While the sunlight beats down savagely on the arena, even the desert inhabitants seem unfomfortable. Many of them walk off to find shelter, while the trainers and pokemon stand under the intense sun. Boss looks the most comfortable, though even she isn't taking the heat that well, as a few beads of sweat form on her brow. Obito tries to calm himself, but the heat is almost unbearable, and the wind is starting to kick up even more. With the arena getting less favorable, the trainers consider how they can best make battle in such a state, and they to are sweating.

Its the start of Round 5, and here we are under the beating heat of the sun. The trainers shade their eyes, while issuing their commands to the respective pokemon. The 2 nod in reply, acknowledging the orders as sweat drips over them.

Immedietly upon recieving her orders, Boss grins. She focuses her muscles, and soon gets an unnatural boost of speed. The agile lizard start dashing around the arena at impressive speeds, with some difficulty thanks to the heat, but still managing just fine. Obito, on the other hand, hates the heat. Holding up his hands and closing his eyes, his body glows blue as he beckons the rain to come upon the land. A rumble of thunder is heard overheat, as a layer of clouds roll in to cover the beating sun. With Boss still dashing around the arena, a light rain starts to fall on the sandy arena, immedietly starting to cool the blistering heat even as the rain evaporates as it hits the earth. The wood gecko has mixed feelings about the rain... its more comfortable, but her attacks won't be near as effective without sunlight.

Still, she continues to dash around, waiting to see what Obito does. And it seems he's not really interested in attacking at all... he's merely sitting and enjoying the light rain. Well, while the fighter is distracted, she should prepare to attack. Stopping her dash, she again gets into a position to gather light. Though Treecko lacks an unhindered light source, she can still pull a limited amount of light from the area. Starting to build up a round mass of light between her palms again, Obito prepares to throw off the attack. Using his psychic prowess, Meditite wraps his body in a mild psionic force, and then all at once pulses the energy, creating an incredible flash of light. The attack lights up the arena for a moment, and also succeeds quite well in blinding the grass lizard. She closes her eyes suddenly, unable to see anything but a white blurr in her vision. But at the same time, she feels a sudden boost of power... the light gave her a nice quick-charge of solar power. As the orb gets a sudden boost in size and power, Boss lets out a cry as she releases the energy at the center of the flash. The white laser cuts through the air, and Obito lets out a suprised grunt. The beam is much bigger than it should be without sunlight... he lunges to the side to avoid the beam, but takes a glancing blow thanks to the larger size. The meditate pokemon is spun around by the force of the attack one his side, which throws him off balance and causes him to fall to the ground. As he gets to his feet, he rubs his side, groaning and not quite sure what just happened.

Boss hears the groan and takes it as a sign that she managed to hit, as she blinks her eyes, vision still blurry. She sees something in the distance that might be Obito, and holds her arms out. Utilizing the photosynthetic cells across her body to absorb the light, she begins to draw in the luminous energy from the surrounding air. The process is slow going given the limited source of light, and Meditite takes good advantage of that fact. He runs through the falling rain at the wood gecko, fist surrounded with ice energy and chilled to a frosty temperature. Letting out a cry as he leaps into the air, he brings his fist crashing down on Boss' shoulder. She feels the instant frigid impact and is knocked to the side, cringing. Though she lets out a grunt, she manages to recover without falling, and keeps the solar charge despite the pain in her shoulder. Turning toward Obito, she blasts out a small shot of gathered solar energy, but the attack is rather ill-aimed and Meditite merely has to duck to dodge the laser entirely. Flying harmlessly into the air, the energy is quickly sapped and the attack disappears.

Obito stands up straight again and looks at the disappointed lizard. He's starting to tire, breathing labored some, but he's feeling pretty good. Boss is tiring as well, and she continues to struggle with her blurred vision, though steadily clearing. As the rain falls gently upon the arena, the trainers think carefully about the next round.

Hoping to disrupt any precognitions that Obito might have, Boss prepares to run. Her vision is still a bit blurry, but she can see what appears to be Meditite in the distance. The calm Obito is sitting cross-legged yet again, using his psychic prowess to peer into Boss' mind. Even as he opens her thoughts, she starts dashing at him. Though her aim is a bit off initially, the high speed allows her to quickly right herself, and Treecko slams her good shoulder into the concentrating fighter. He's knocked back a bit, but more than that, his reading is disrupted. He gets up with a grunt, grinning. Though disrupted, he still know's what Boss will do next... or so he thinks.

Preparing for her assault, Obito holds his fist up, channeling his chi into it. As it glows with power, Boss finally manages to clear up her vision fully. She lets out a cry as she lunges for Obito, teeth surging with darkness. The meditate pokemon sidesteps the attack, but it seems that the prior disruption was worse than he imagined. Obito misjudges her position, and lets out a pained gasp as he feels the lizard's teeth sinking into his head. As the pure black energy seeps into him, his entire body shudders under the power. Just managing to maintain enough concentration to keep the chi charged around his fist, he swings it around. The angle is awkward for him, but he still manages to slam Treecko in the back, and the powerful chi crackles into her body. Despite reduced effectiveness thanks to the angle and Boss' attack, the blow is enough to disorient the wood gecko, and she releases Obito while stumbling backwards.

She finds herself disoriented for merely a moment, before she manages to clear her mind enough to remember her order. The gecko opens her mouth, drawing from within her own body a draconic power. Before long, Boss blows out a stream of jade flames toward the fighter. Not true fire, the attack is uneffected by the falling rain, and powers on toward Meditite unhindered. Obito is rubbing his head, trying to block out the pain, as the dragon flames encircle him. He feels every part of his body assaulted by the energetic blast, and at the same time feels a strange tingling. The blast of energy is attacking his nerves, making him lose muscle control momentarily. Green flames dissipating, the determined psychic manages to regain full control of his body as he rushes toward Boss, unwilling to give up. His hand is again engulfed in energy, this time a frigid mass of cold. Thrusting the frosty fist forward, he hits Treecko square in the jaw, knocking her to the ground with a soft thud and a muffled cry.

Still feeling a bit dizzy, and recovering from the chilled blow, Boss simply lies on the ground, overall pain almost too much to bear. Meditite is in a similar situation, as he holds his skull with his hands and tries to block the pain, breathing heavily at the same time. The trainers can sense their pokemon weakening, and they carefully think up what could be their last attacks with these particular combatants. All the while, the drizzle continues to fall, and the ground is starting to get damp.

*Battle*
The rain is still falling, and both pokemon are aching and breathing deeply. Neither are in great shape, and the trainers know this. They think of what will be the last round for one pokemon, and issue their commands.

Obito holds his hands out, pushing a deal of his remaining energy into a shield that covers him while Boss slowly gets up, still stumbling. She shakes her head and manages to clear it just enough to start the assault... the swift lizard speeds at Obito in moments, and crashes smack into the shield. Visibly struggling to hold the shield, Meditite winces. Its still holding as Boss leaps into the air for the second part of her strike... she comes down at high speed, once again crashing into the shield. The energy ripples under the impact, and the double strikes coupled with a tiring Obito prove too much for its integrity. The transparent energy shield shatters, energy dissipating into the air and leaving the fighter completely open. He breathes heavily, arms still out as Boss comes down with her final blow. Electricity pulses from her fist as she swings it forward. The attack connects square with the psychic type's chest, buzzing and sparking upon impact. Meditite lets out a faint cry, eyes closed and face twisted with pain. Try as he might, the pain proves too much for him to bare... he collapses into the damp sand with a soft thud, motionless.

Boss gasps rapidly, exaustion setting in and herself in quite a bit of pain. Her expression suddenly gets very calm, as she too drops to the ground. It seems that the rapid attacking left her completely spent...

Both trainers stand, overlooking their fallen pokemon. The first rounds of battle were intense, and now they're on even ground again. Each has to choose a new pokemon for the remainder of the battle... they think carefully about their choices, as the rainfall lets up and ceases.

You can use one pokémon in multiple battles if you didn't know.

If you still want to change I understand, you can say it in your post where you need to attack, but if you change, I might to.

Anyway, I'll send out Toph, my green plated sandshrew(F)

Alright Toph, start of with a sand tomb, then if you have him, use a crush claw and finish with earthquake, else try an aerial ace, dynamic punch combo. If he protects or detects on the combo, just seperate them.

*Battle*
With both pokemon down for the count, the trainers are forced to pull out another to continue the battle. As each fallen pokemon is returned via red beams to their respective pokeballs, the trainers quickly pull out another. Frylock throws first, ball hitting the ground to reveal a fiesty Tyrogue, aptly named Vamp. The spirited fighter cracks his knuckles and waits for an opponent. Silencer nods and throws his ball, and after the subsiding flash a small green Sandshrew stretches her arms. She looks quite at home in this desert arena, though the dampness makes her a bit uneasy initially. The pokemon look each other over, while the trainers give their first orders for these new combatants, who nod affirmitively.

Slightly the faster in this matchup, Toph starts right away with an attack dependent on this desert arena. Body shimmering a yellow tone, she holds one hand down to the ground. Controlled by the Sandshrew's very will (and her energy) the sand beneath Vamp starts to swirl, slowly at first and quickly picking up speed. In the center of the vortex, the scuffle pokemon starts to feel himself sinking down into the earth, drawn further and further in by the swirling motion. Looking oddly calm for a pokemon being sucked into the ground, Vamp grins at his trainer, who nods. Without a second thought, the Tyrogue crouches down and starts spinning his body opposite the sand flow. The counter motion effectively stops the effect of him being drawn down, and allows him to jump out of the pit with little trouble. He lands nimbly outside the attack, and Toph frowns as she halts the attack. Tyrogue does appear a bit scratched up from the rough sand, at least.

Undeterred by her failed attempt at immobilizing the little fighter, the mouse decides on a more direct approach. She dashes toward him suprisingly fast for an armored pokemon, the air shuddering behind her. Unable to follow the speed, Vamp merely holds up his hands and gets ready to block the assault. Nearing the target, Toph leaps through the air toward him, dealing an aerial tackle to the fighter. The blow staggers him nicely, and she holds out her fist and energizes it with chi, causing it to glow brightly. Lunging at the stunned Tyrogue, she thrusts her fist into his chest. Accompanied by the sound of a powerful impact, Vamp is knocked off his feet and onto the damp earth. Toph pulls her fist back and lets the remaining chi return to her body as she grins. The fighter type, lying on the ground, feels the world spinning around him. He lies there for a few moments, but eventually manages to clear his mind enough to regain balance and jumps to his feet. Looking toward Sandshrew, who looks particularly tired by her combo, he glares. Vamp leaps over to her and pulls his foot back, letting his energy gather around it. He furiously spins around, smashing his shining leg into her side. The sand pokemon digs her feet into the ground, sliding a bit and groaning but maintaining her stance.

Keeping right in stride, Vamp crouches down and is about to leap into the air when his mind goes fuzzy again. Unable to think clearly, his jump simply sends him about a foot into the air, after which he lands awkwardly and falls on his face. Getting to his knees after the fall, he whipes the sand from his face. He still feels rather disoriented, and opts to stay kneeling until he can regain his sense of balance. In the meantime, Sandshrew breathes heavily, still tuckered out from the stressful combo, but glad she doesn't have to take another attack from the fighter.

In this way, Round 8 ends strangely. The two trainers watch the two pokemon intently, as they think of the next round with entusiasm.

*Battle*
The two trainers look at each other, looking rather determined. Each one has carefully thought, and they now issue their commands to the pokemon, not pulling any punches.

The scrappy Tyrogue tries his hardest to clear his mind while kneeling on the soft sand. While he does so, Toph starts to build up her powers of terrakinesis while pulling one foot off the ground. Her body is surrounded by an earthly glow for a few moments, and then she slams her raised foot onto the sand. The blow, amplified by the Sandshrew's earth control powers, sends a series of earthen shockwaves through the ground. As they travel, the sand is displaced a foot or so into the air, causing waves not unlike the ocean. It takes little time before the shock hits Vamp, the rising sand throwing the light fighter up into the air. Gravity taking its toll, the fighting type soon falls back, landing hard on the ground while being hit with a few weaker aftershocks from the quake. Pushing himself up, Vamp finds that his mind has cleared up. Though aching from the attack, the young pokemon closes his eyes and concentrates. A pair of clones fade into view beside him and all of them open their eyes and look at the ground type.

Taking a note right from his opponent, Vamp brings his own earth control powers to the surface and starts to radiate a brown light. All the while, Toph carefully watches, knowing that she has to time her attack perfectly. Seeing the fighters pull their fists up into the air, the mouse runs closer. As Tyrogue brings his fist smashing down, the sand ripples out from the resaulting quake. Sandshrew has but a split second to react, and her familiarity with the earth allows her to pull off the difficult manuever. Leaping into the air and over the pulsing sand, Toph subsequently delivers a flying tackle to her fighting opponent. Or one of them, anyway. As the armored shrew rams the far right Tyrogue, she is suprised when the she merely passes through his body. This leaves her to continue flying back, and she digs her front claws into the ground and slides to a stop with a groan. Turning around to face his opponent, Vamp and his remaining clone grin.

Not willing to let her failure get her down, Toph wastes no time going back on the offensive. While she runs back toward the pair, one hand is held out. That hand, and more specifically the claws on the hand, glimmer with energy. Power surging through the claws, Vamp looks worried as the shrew approaches. He closes his eyes as Toph slashes her claws horizontally across the left fighter, leaving streaks of white energy lingering in the air for a moment. The claws make contact with a solid body, cutting the real Vamp with powerful energy. Tyrogue holds his hand over his wounded stomach and stumbles back, his concentration spoiled and the body double vanishing at the same time. Though cringing in pain, the scrapper's eyes shine briefly before a stream of energy flows out of them and into the sandy earth. The power takes control of the sand itself, creating a stream of shining particles that pelt Sandshrew just as she pulls her arm back to her body. The force knocks her off her feet, and worse, the flowing sand gets into her eyes. As she falls on her back, the mouse paws at her eyes.

Now unable to see thanks to the sandy assault, Toph stands and rubs her eyes, trying to flush the disturbance. Meanwhile, Vamp still holds his stomach, the pain intense.

*Battle*
Here in the deserted desert arena ( :p) the battle goes on. The two trainers remain determined, and they order them for the coming round while the 2 pokemon grunt in acknowledgement.

Feeling utterly helpless without her sight, Toph takes a moment to really clear out her eyes. She carefully rubs them, making sure to push the sand out and keep irritation to a minimum. Vamp, on the other hand, would much prefer that the shrew stay impaired. His eyes glow, summoning a strange power which he fires into the ground again. Another stream flies up from the earth, slamming into Toph again. The shimmering sand barrages her, mainly on the head, but because her hands are there clearing out the sand anyway its prevented from getting further particles into them. Though she wimpers in pain, the stream eventually stops and falls back to the ground, having hurt her but not blinded. And whats more, through vigorous efforts, she manages to clear the last of the remaining sand out of her eyeballs.

Now having regained her vision (though its still strained thanks to the irritation), Sandshrew gets a running start and then jumps up, curling herself into a ball while leaping. As she comes back down, the sand pokemon starts to roll toward Vamp, steadily gaining speed as she goes. The force throws up a wake of sand behind her as she nears the fighting type. He appears worried, but isn't even sure which order to follow at this point... she's not blinded, but she didn't spend an extra turn either. While he puzzles, Toph reaches the mark and rams her spinning body into him. He grunts as he is shoved back, but manages to maintain his footing well enough to remain upright, while the rolling Sandshrew makes a wide turn and heads a different direction. Deciding to go with his first set of orders, his eyes glow as he peers into the mouse's mind. Spinning does nothing to prevent it, and he rather easily discerns what she intends to do for the next few moments.

He grins as Toph turns around and starts rolling back toward him, just as he foresaw. Crouching for a moment, the scrappy fighter leaps into the air. He puts his foot out in front as he reaches the height of his jump, and starts descending toward the spinning shrew. Knowing exactly what she is thinking, Vamp falls straight toward her. As his extended foot makes contact with her spinning shell, there is a loud thud. Tyrogue failed to see the effect of his attack, however. The spinning motion Toph is exibiting throws him back even as his foot smashes against her. He is sent hurtling through the air and comes to a crashing halt a few feet back, letting out a yelp of pain. Meanwhile, the impact from the kick causes Sandshrew to lose her control, and she rolls wildly off for a ways before forcefully uncurling her body and tumbling to a halt. She winces as she gets to her feet, her back hurt from the blow, even as Vamp to stands. His foot is a bit sore and he's covered in sand, but at least he managed to stop the rolling mouse.

The two stand and stare at one another, neither giving in to the pain inflicted just moments ago. At the same time, the trainers look at each of them and think about the next round eagerly.

*Battle*
The desert is ablaze with battle today, and the two combatants are each pulling for a win. With both starting to feel the pain but still in good condition, the trainers issue commands to each with confidence.

Toph, looking fondly on the last round for inspiration, starts to run and build speed for another series of rolling attacks. But her opponent will have none of it, and he holds his fist up and gives himself a boost of speed. Dashing toward the moving shrew, he thrusts his fist forward and smashes her face with the speed of a true warrior. With a grunt, Sandshrew is knocked off her feet. Getting up, she rubs her nose before jumping forward and curling her shell into a ball again. She hits the ground and rolls at Vamp, who pulls his fist back and guards himself as the rolling ground type crashes into him. The scrappy fighter skids back a bit, and Toph starts to turn back while picking up speed.

As Sandshrew veers back around to Vamp again, kicking up sand as she quickly rolls, the fighter prepares himself. He holds his hands out in front of his body, hoping to snatch the spinning mouse as even as she bowls over him. As the pokemon projectile nears him, Tyrogue looks on nervously. The opponent is getting faster and faster, and he's having doubts about being able to catch her. Still, with the rolling desert dweller reaching him, Vamp lunges his arms out and puts them around Sandshrew. But the centrifigul motion overwhelms the small fighter and he is unable to grip her, while Toph smashes her spinning body into him. Vamp is thrown back and smashes into the ground, and Toph again starts to roll in a wide circle back toward him.

Grunting, Vamp gets to his feet again and watches the speeding wheel coming toward him yet again. He knows the speed is way to fast for him to hit, but he can at least dodge the strike. Toph reaches the target, still increasing in speed, but as she nears him he crouches down and leaps into the air, well over her ground-bound attack. She bowls over his prior position while he soars through the air, not even attempting to kick but rather just landing on the ground. He turns back toward Toph again, watching the ever increasing cloud of dust being thrown up behind her nervously.

Even as Sandshrew keeps on rolling, she waits for her orders, ready to pull out of the roll at any time. Vamp waits similarly, hoping his trainer can come up with some way for him to stop the speeding shrew before she crushes him.

The trainers remain confident in their pokemon as Round 12 gets underway. They issue their commands to the pokemon, and one nods while the other simply grunts as she rolls along.

Kicking up an ever increasing amount of dust behind her as she rolls, Toph turns and approaches Tyrogue for one final rolling attack, using her built up speed to good effect. While she blazes toward the fighter, Vamp clears his mind and focuses. Just in the nick of time, a pair of clones are summoned up from thin air beside him. Before the trio can even open their eyes again, the speeding Sandshrew plows through one of the fighting types. The image is dissipated as she bowls through it harmlessly and keeps rolling on, blowing up wake of sand behind her. Unexpectedly, the cloud of dust rushes over the remaining Tyrogue's, destroying the second illusion in the process. Finally through with her rolling, the mouse slows herself down and then uncurls, digging her claws into the ground and skidding to a stop. Vamp looks a bit disappointed at the loss of his other clone so soon, but rests easy in the comfort that he at least avoided the furious roll.

Continuing on with conviction, Sandshrew runs up to her lone opponent as fast as she can. While she approaches, she focuses energy into her right claws. The sharp appendeges pulsate with energy as she swipes her hand horizontally across Vamp's chest. He yelps as the energized nails cut across him, soon pulling one arm up and holding the surface wound. Groaning a bit, his eyes flicker with the familiar white tone. Out of the glowing eyes is fired a translucent laser, which flows into the ground beneath Toph. She looks down just in time to witness an eruption of sand, which plows into her and tosses her into the air. As the shrew falls to the ground she lets out a muffled grunt, and then pushes herself to her feet. Her body is dustier than usual, but other than that appears well.

She shakes her head briefly to clear any dust away from her eyes, and then glares at Tyrogue. Body glimmering with an earth tone, she lifts up one foot. With a cry she slams her leg down to the ground, sending a terrakinetic pulse through the earth. The high magnitude waves flow through the ground in a cone, straight at the fighter. Vamp stands at the ready, however. He crouches down, ignoring the stinging pain in his chest, and as the moving earth approaches he leaps high into the air. As the sand quakes below, he flies through the air and pulls his leg back. Reaching the apex of the jump, he thrusts one leg forward as he falls toward Sandshrew. The ground type raises her head and braces herself as she see's Vamp cruising toward her. His foot connects with Toph's head, knocking her to the ground with a loud thud while Tyrogue flips and lands gracefully in the soft sand.

Getting to her feet once more, Toph rubs her head with one hand and whimpers slightly, starting to feel fatigue setting in. Vamp struggles with his own pain, though he tries hard to mask it. Its unclear which of these combatants will win this battle, and neither is going down easily.

The trainers contemplate their next moves carefully, before shouting them to the fighting pokemon with confidence. The two grunt and nod in reply, looking competetively at one another.

Hoping to counter her foe's first move, Toph patiently awaits him to make that move. Vamp does just that, closing his eyes and raising his head to the sky. As a blue aura engulfs his body, rain clouds start to move in overhead. The arena darkens as a crack of thunder is heard, and water starts pouring from the heavens onto the desert. Opening his eyes, Tyrogue grins and sighs contently, the cool rain feeling rather refreshing. On the other hand, Toph becomes quite uncomfortable, much prefering the arid climate that she's accustomed to. So, hoping to change the unpleasent rainfall, she too closes her eyes. Glowing with a brown light, a wind starts to whip up across the arena. But much to her discontent, there is little dust the wind can blow around with the rainfall soaking everything. She opens her eyes and grumbles something to herself, and Vamp smirks to himself.

Seeing the smug fighter, Toph decides to whipe that grin off his face. Holding one hand to the ground while her eyes emit a golden glow, she manipulates the sand below an unsuspecting Tyrogue. The damp earth starts to rotate, quickly gaining speed until it becomes a swirling sand trap. Vamp looks down, a worried expression on his face, as he feels the spinning drawing him down into the ground. He flails around, but to no great effect as he sinks further and further. The spinning sand scrapes against his flesh as he is drawn down, causing him to wince in pain. Submitting to the torrent, he is determined to at least pull of his attack against Sandshrew. The fighter thrusts an open palm into the swirling earth, swatting a blob of muddy sand at his opponent deftly. Still concentrating on her own attack, it takes the mouse by suprise and the gloppy mud splatters over her face and into her eyes. The irritation severs her link with the sand below and it starts to slow, but too little to late. Tyrogue finds himself almost up to his shoulders in sand as the swirling motion finally halts.

Vision blocked by the sloppy mud in her eyes, Sandshrew takes comfort only in the fact that she managed to trap her foe. She whipes her face with her claws for a moment, but soon remembers her growing fatigue. Hoping to let her body rest, she sits on the ground peacefully, doing her best to ignore the irritating rain and the mud in her opticals. Vamp isn't relaxing at all, as he struggles to wriggle free of the sand. All his efforts seem futile, until he gets an idea. Maybe he can jump out of the sand using his powerful leg muscles. He manages to move his legs enough to get a decent jump, which thrusts him up and out of the sand trap. But it doesn't get him much height, and not nearly enough to hope to kick at Toph. He lands beside the hole with a squish, still covered in clumps of wet sand.

The fighter starts to brush himself off a bit, but his entire body is covered and thats sure to take a while. Toph remains sitting, oblivious to the actions Vamp is taking, and still unable to see through the blobs of mud. Through it all, rain continues to fall, making the earth more and more soaked and causing general irritation to the ground type.

*Battle*
Its Round 14, and the battle is starting to wind down. The trainers sense this as they issue their orders for the round, and the pokemon nod solemnly.

Still hindered by the mud covering her eyes, Toph decides to go with something that doesn't require any vision. Raising her leg up, a tan glow persists around it. As she is about to slam it into the ground, Vamp suddenly harnesses a boost of speed despite the sand covering him. He rushes forward in a blurr, and slams his left fist into the shrew's stomach. She lets out a stiffled grunt, having the wind knocked out of her. Despite that, she brings her foot down hard on the ground, albeit a bit weaker thanks to the fighter's quick blow. The resaulting shockwaves radiate outwards, immedietly hitting Tyrogue and knocking him off his feet. He yelps as he falls on his back, the moving earth shaking him up more upon landing. Back badly bruised, Vamp gets back on his feet, cringing but still confident. Toph rubs her stomach with one hand, while whiping the mud out of her eyes with the other.

Remaining visually impaired, though its clearing, Toph once more lifts her foot. Tapping into her terrakinetic prowess, she slams it back into the every wetter earth. The sand undulates upward, seismic waves pushing it around like wind on a lake. Vamp finds himself tossed into the air again, under the force of the earthen attack. He falls back down to earth as gravity kicks in, falling straight into the aftershocks from the quake and yelling in agony. Scrappy as ever, Vamp gets back to his feet with a deep groan, and pulls his hand back. Gathering energy into his fist, it begins to glow brightly. He dashes forward and thrusts the powered fist into Toph, releasing the energy into her body all at once. The blow knocks her onto her back, and as she rolls back to get to her feet she groans loudly. After getting back up, she manages to whipe the last of the mud away from her eyes, finally seeing clearly for the first time in a while.

Growling softly, Toph rubs her sore tummy for a moment before going back on the offensive. She raises her hand in front of her face, channeling energy through it and causing an eerie white glow to exude from each of the 3 claws. Vamp steps back as the fiercesome mouse leaps toward him, claw at the ready, but not far enough. Sandshrew rakes her claws across the fighting type's face, causing him to cry out as he holds the fresh wound. Shouting loudly, he pulls his hand away to reveal a gash across his face, but he's not taking it lying down. He raises his foot briefly, starting to glow just as he stomps the earth hard. Seismic waves rush forward under the earth, swiftly popping the mouse up and into the air. She crashes back down like a sack of bricks, getting further jumbled by minor follow up shocks. Using her tail, Toph lifts herself back to her feet and looks toward her foe, who despite the powerful quake appears to be quickly weakening.

The trainers can see that Vamp is weaking as well, as he stands tall but bears an expression of pain on his scarred face. Even as the rain falls, annoying Sandshrew continually, she appears in much better shape than her opponent.

*Battle*
The rain creates a rather somber tone to the probable last round for this battle, as the trainers issue their orders to the battered pokemon confidently.

Ready to finish off her determined foe in good time, Toph takes a moment to look him over before raising one foot. She puts all her focus into her powers of earthen control, a golden glow surrounding her lime green hide as she breathes heavily. With a shout, she stomps her foot down on the ground, sending powerful shockwaves barreling through the soaked sand and toward the battered Tyrogue. Fighting against the persisting wear of battle, Vamp watches the approaching shock wearily. He manages to jump into the air and avoid the shock wave as he soars toward the confident mouse. All Sanshrew can think is "CRAP!" as she realizes that her attack has been evaded, and that thing is coming straight at her. Vamp soon reaches the apex of his jump and falls straight down on Toph, who merely stands suprised. The fighter thrusts his foot into her, slamming her face first into the wet ground as she lets out a loud yelp. Landing with a grunt, he watches wearily as Sandshrew slowly gets back to her feet and whipes the dirt from her face, looking rather peeved.

She doesn't let it get her down, though. Victory is still close at hand, and it can't be avoided forever. Letting her energy gather around her claws, she jumps toward Vamp with conviction. He raises his hands to guard against the attack, cringing as he feels the familiar sting of the fierce shrew's claws. The glow subsides as she finishes raking the sharp appendages across Tyrogue, and she watches intently to see what effect the attack had on the fighting type. Dropping his guard, its clear from his expression that Vamp is struggling. Anatomy scathed and bruised, his eyes are barely open as he groans in pain. He wants to go on, wants to defeat this strong foe, but his body can't keep going like this. Eyes closing fully, he falls forward into the dampened sand with a sloshing thud.

Even as the rain starts to lessen, the outcome of the battle is decided. Sandshrew is battered and wet, but victorious as she slowly walks over to her trainer and glances up at him proudly. Frylock pulls out his pokeball and brings his defeated fighter back to safety, feeling the sting of defeat but happy to have put up a good fight.

Good job Toph, and you to Obito.

It was a nice match fylock, I was kinda hoping that my shrews speed would be sufficient to let the earthquake hit. Should think over my moves more carefully next time.

Anyway
