Hey all! Anyone is up for a battle?

Rules
4 on 4
DQ: 1 week
Arena: Double Damage Stadium. A grass stadium where attacks do double damage and there are no energy requirements.

I'll be sending first, ok? But first, I want to know who I will battle.

Crystal Tears

[font=sylfaen] I need to get back into the swing of things, and this sounds fun. I'll battle you.

Great. I'll send Zum, my female Eevee.

[font=sylfaen]Alrighty, I just have a small question before we continue. Can we ban Substitute?

Anyways, for this battle, I choose...

Zack

I'm guessing I'm attacking first so..

Zack

Zack, immediately burrow underground with Dig, when your under there, don't worry about Zum, not much she can do to you. Concentrate and use Focus Energy, then come up out of the ground and use Ice Beam, if they're multiples of her, use Beat Up to be rid of the annoying clones.
If Coming up counts as an attack, then just use attacking part of Dig.

[color=brown]Dig -- Focus Energy -- Ice Beam / Beat Up / Dig

Spike

Sure, no substitute then.

Alright, Zum, listen carefully. Star with Quick Attack before she goes underground. There, attack with Body Slam and finish with Double Edge.

*Battle*
The battlers arrive at the specially made stadium, created to amplify attacks of the pokemon. They nod to one another, while they reach for their first pokeball. First off is Spike, who pulls a ball off his belt and drops it, releasing a small female Eevee with a rather odd name. She stretches and cocks her head at her trainer, ready for battle. Crystal Tears pulls out her own pokeball, tossing it to the ground. A white flash disappears to reveal a unique colored male Nidoran, named Zack. He too looks eager for battle, letting out a cry to his foe. The two eye one another, as the trainers issue their first set of commands.

Starting the battle off defensively, Zack starts to paw at the ground, shoving dirt and grass out of the way to dig himself into a hole. But Zum wants to hit the poison type before he gets away, so she starts dashing toward him. She quickly gains speed, until she appears as a mere brown blurr running toward the digging pokemon. With a yell, she rams her head into the Nidoran, causing him to stumble back a few steps with a grunt. He doggedly goes right back to his hole and continues to throw dirt out, getting a fair distance down into the earth. Eevee looks on as dirt flies out of the hole.

Feeling a bit lonely up on the surface while Zack hides in the hole, Zum looks down it. She sees the male Nidoran at the bottom, eyes closed. Throwing caution to the wind, she leaps down the hole, falling down to Zack and crushing him beneath her. Eevee is fairly light, but falling from that height still stings quite a bit... the poison point pokemon winces as the normal type lands on his back. Still, the pain isn't enough to distract him from finishing his focus, and he feels suddenly much more atuned to the finer points of battle.

There's not much room down in the hole, being intended for 1 pokemon only, not 2. But with Eevee still on top of Zack, she starts furiously scratching at him, raking her claws across his back while at the same time biting his ears. He cries out as he endures the punishment from the little evolution pokemon, not enjoying it in the slightest. Hoping to escape, he starts digging sideways, pulling himself into the hole as Zum drops to the cold earth awkwardly. Now freed from her grasp, he makes his way back to the surface, and once there breaths a sigh of relief. But he's not finished yet... he opens his mouth and starts building up an icy energy, as he makes his way back initial opening of the hole. Looking down, he sees Zum looking down the tunnel that he just emerged out of, wondering if she should follow. As she wonders, Zack fires the chilled energy beam down the hole toward her, and she suddenly feels the freezing cold energy engulfing her. Crying out from the pain of the biting cold, she feels her fur getting harder... soon there is an icy buildup on her back, weighing her down and causing her discomfort.

Zack grins, seeing the chilled Eevee trapped in the hole. Meanwhile, Zum is shivering, and wondering how she should go about getting out... she wishes she hadn't jumped into the hole in the first place.

FYI, guys... I brought it up in the Rules tower just in case, and it seems the using double damage is not allowed. It makes battles finish overly too fast.

So, I redid the damage calc for the first round, and you'll have to continue the battle with normal damage rates.

[color=lightblue][font=sylfaen]Hmmm… Zack, I know you don’t like waiting all that much but we have to. Wait for Zum to dig her way out of the hole, and then Double Kick her right in the face! That should stun her a bit, then, as she’s using Sunny Day, hit her with Toxic! Turn around quickly so Mud Slap won’t hit your face, then swivel around again and hit her with Double Kick.

*Battle*
With only one combatant visible on the field, Round 2 of this battle has become a waiting game. Spike shouts his orders down the hole in the center, while Crystal calmly gives hers to the shiny Nidoran. The 2 nod, and soon the round is underway.

Loyal to his trainers' orders, Zack waits (im)patiently for his canine opponent to reveal herself. The trapped Zum, though with some difficulty thanks to the heavy ice, swipes her paws at the earth, pusing it aside as she pulls herself up. She continues to tunnel higher and higher, while at the same time trying to locate Zack. Eevee listens carefully, but hears nothing... the poison type is completely still, and without any sort of noise she has no way of sensing his location. Finally breaking through to the surface, she appears a few feet behind Nidoran. The poison point pokemon turns to face her, grinning mischeviously. Zum tries to leap out of the hole him, but with ice coating her she finds herself slowed. That gives Zack all the time he needs, and he jumps toward the frosted Eevee. He brings his front legs to bear on Zum, smashing them into her face powerfully and accurately. The force sends her tumbling backwards with a yelp. She lands on her back, awkwardly kicking her legs like an overturned turtle, and finally manages to right herself.

Thats it, this bothersome ice has to go. Looking up to the sky, she closes her eyes and focuses deeply on the weather. A red aura encircles her, as the clouds in the sky dissipate, and the sun becomes fully exposed, even seeming brighter than usual. At the same time, Zack starts compiling a blob of acidic poison in his small mouth. Using his internal poison sacks, he is easily able to create a deadly concoction, and wastes no time spitting it at the concentrating normal type. The toxic purple liquid splatters over the front of her body and head (luckily her eyes are still closed), invading her pores and making its way deep into her blood stream. She wimpers as the stuff invades her body, effected areas burning painfully. But at least the sunlight is brightened, and the heat immedietly starts to melt the ice covering her back.

With water dripping to the ground, Zum turns her attention back at the shiny pokemon who is her opponent. Taking advantage of the water falling on the ground, she swishes her paw around, mixing water with the soil to make a mud, which she quickly flicks at the poison rabbit. Zack manages to turn his side to her as she makes the mud, the the muck splashes relatively harmlessly on his side. The Nidoran smiles as he turns back toward Zum, rearing back and launching himself at her again. Both feet connect with her chest, right on the irritated spot where his poison hit earlier. She digs her claws into the ground, keeping her from flying back, though she still slides through the dirt some. The poison type lands on the ground, grinning at Eevee, who has one eye closed and a pained expression on her face. Zacks focus allowed him to accurately hit the exact point where the kick would be most painful, and it shows.

The pain doesn't subside, either. As Zum tries to block it out of her mind, she feels the poison making its way through her system slowly but surely. The ice on her back is all but gone, but it doesn't seem to matter at the moment, and she shudders and whines under the pain. Zack looks on, feeling rather pleased, and still extremely focused.

Alright Zack! Very nice! Now, once again, Dig down into the earth, if she comes near the entrance of the hole, zap her with Thunderbolt, but if she doesn’t, then fire off a Shockwave to try and hit her.. On the last move, if she’s close to the entrance, come up using a Double-Edge, if she’s not, then use Shockwave.

*Battle*
As Round 3 opens, the trainers look at one another, and then back at there pokemon. They think carefully, and then shout their orders to them confidently.

Ready to put himself into a defensive position, Zack starts to claw at the ground, moving bits of earth aside to start a tunnel down into the ground. But he doesn't get too far... acknowledging her trainers' order, the injured Zum closes her eyes. As she concentrates, her body starts to glow red, and she has soon managed to turn her body into pure energy. She forms into a crimson ball and, of her own accord, returns to her pokeball. Spike sets it aside, knowing he'll have to bring little Zum back out later on, and throws a new pokeball. A brilliant flash reveals a large snake made entirely of rocks. The Onix stretches and lets out a bellowing cry, and Spike is just about to give him his orders when the referee holds up his flag. Inserting his authority, Elec Man orders the trainers and pokemon to stop. He turns to the battlers and says "According to league rules (Specifically, the Attack List Beta), upon use of Baton Pass the round immedietly ends. You will continue the battle with a new round, as usual. Spike will attack first."

And so, with the newly released Tek on the field, and Zack only a foot or so into the ground, the round meets a premature end. Only time will tell how this will effect the battle.

*Battle*
Avast, Round 4 is about t' begin. Crystal Tears seems t' be quite shaken by t' appearence of this here huge Onix, and she nervously tells Zack just how t' go about the round. Spike be doin' the same, though he seems a mite more confident.

Appearin' just as shaken as his trainer, Zack gets himself out of t' hole with a leap. As soon as he lands, he looks t' the sky. As he be concentratin', the clouds roll in overhead, coverin' the sky. It seems that Zack be prayin' to some watery deity, seein' as before long rain starts t' fall. Well, Tek ain' too happy about this, and he smashes his head into the ground, diggin' his way under. Usin' his powerful body, he easily makes his way through the ground, toward t' light vibrations that must be Zack. Akin to a huge sabre piercing a mutinous pirate, Tek breaks through t' ground under the shiny Nidoran. T' poison point pokemon is sent flyin' through the air, and crashes into the ground with a thud, he does.

While Zack be gettin' himself to his feet, its clear that Onix ain' gonna give him any quarter. He lifts his huge tail up into t' air, and it be shining brown as he does so. T' rock serpent brings his tail crashin' down on the ground, creatin' an impressive shockwave through the earth. At this point, Zack is just recoverin' from Tek's prior attack, an' he's vulnerable to the approaching shock. As t' earth be ripplin' while the shock wave moves through, it hits Nidoran and tosses him up into t' air, while he lets out a yelp. He soon falls right back to earth, crashin' into the ground like a blue, pointy cannonball. T' aftershock hits him as he comes back down, further increasing t' impact. Weakly, he stands back up and doggedly starts chargin' straight at the huge rock. He be determined, he is. As he approaches the fiend, he leaps into the air an' lands on the rocky back of the serpent. T' poison type don't make much effort to attack the rocky beast, but Zack be hangin' on for dear life.

Now, obviously Tek ain't all that happy being a vessel for this little poison rabbit. He flails around, tryin' to throw Zack off his back, but he ain't havin' much luck. Then, he be gettin' an idea. He has a need to smash this Nidoran, and t' scallawag has put himself right into position. So rather than continuin' to try and throw him off, Onix simply lifts himself into the air, an' starts fallin' backwards. Zack, he be realizin' the plan, and he tries to drop off... but Tek, he's fallin' fast enough that the poison type is effectively pinned against him. Unable to do anything, Nidoran simply braces himself as t' ground gets closer and closer. Wit a loud boom, Tek smashes his back into t' mud, an Zack with it. Chuckling to himself, Onix rolls off to the side t' reveal the battered Nidoran, pushed into the ground and wearing a look of agony. Wincing as he stands an' covered with mud, the horned pokemon lifts his head t' face Tek. He's not beaten yet, and he opens his mouth. Inside, a ball of water be formin', and he soon fires the sonic water at Tek. Gatherin' strength from the rain, it slams into the huge pokemon's face, drenchin' him. The Onix, he lets out a roar as he shakes his head, shaking off the disorienting sonic attack, an' glares down at the tiny Nidoran.

Its a real David and Goliath scenario 'ere, but it might not be little Zack who ends up victorious. While t' storm rages, dropping torrents o' rain, t' ground gets muddier. And t' trainers, well they be ever thinkin' o' new strategies.

*Battle*
The two trainers stand tall, being soaked by the falling rain but taking little notice. Both are engrossed in battle, and they shout to their pokemon.

Tek makes the first move, and he rears himself up. With a roar he crashes his head into the ground, making his way back underground at a suprisingly fast speed for a giant rock and throwing mud every which way in the process. Making his way carefully to the hole, Zack starts building another aquatic orb to fire at the snake. He peers down into the inky blackness of the hole, unable to tell if Tek is still there or if he's gone completely under, but decides he has to attack either way. Letting out a shrill cry, he lets the watery ball fly down into the hole. Deep within the ground, a loud roar is heard, the only indicator that Onix took the hit. The hydroponic attack splashes over his tail while he still tunnels further in, giving him an unexpected chill.

Even with the mud all around him, and a bit of extra water from Zack's attack, Tek stays within the hole as ordered. He raises his head to the sky as best he can, and concentrates. Body glowing gently with an orange hue, he beckons the sun to burn brighter. But being deep underground, the effect is greatly diminished, and all the ground type manages to do is stop the rain. Still on the surface, Nidoran notices the gradual stoppage of the rain and knows it must be the work of Onix. But how to get him down in that hole... jumping in isn't an option, the fall would be far too dangerous, and surely by now he's not straight down any longer. He opts to simply attack as ordered, hoping that even if the attack doesn't fully hit, Tek will at least be uncomfortable and resurface. A strong ice energy masses just outside his mouth, fueled from within his body. Letting out a second cry, he blasts the conglomeration of ice, snow, and wind down into the deep hole. The solid bits are absorbed by the dirt walls as they hit them, but the chill blast of wind curves along the hole and makes its way straight to the serpentine rock monster. Tek shivers while the wind whips around him, chilling the area.

And the hole does a nice job of keeping the cold right in. The rock type is quite uncomfortable, and he's happy to make his way back up the the surface. He smashes through the damp soil, throwing large chunks to the side as he resurfaces. Zack turns around suddenly, facing the newly surfaced Onix instantly. Immedietly, he starts to summon up another orbous water mass. Tek starts to insult the little Nidoran, calling him all manor of unflattering names. This just makes the poison rabbit angry, and enraged he fires off the spinning water balloon at the rock's head. This aquatic blast flies through the air, slamming into Onix's skull and pushing his head back. His cry echoes across the arena as the attack preys on his vulnerability to water.

With beads of water dripping off his head and down his body, the huge rock who's eye is probably bigger than Zack himself glares down upon the little poison point pokemon. A mud-covered Zack stares right back, feeling absolutely enraged toward his rocky foe and at the moment not concerned about his size at all. The trainers think carefully about the next round and beyond, while the pokemon stare at one another.

*Battle*
The clouds are still covering the arena, but right now they seem to have stopped raining down on the land. While the 2 combatants stare one another down, the trainers themselves think of what to do next... after a few moments of consideration, they issue their orders to each of their pokemon. Onix nods, but Zack is too angry to even acknowledge the attacks.

Still not satsified with the weather conditions, ominious clouds able to start raining any moment, Tek raises his huge head to the heavens. The familiar reddish glow surrounds his body, while a strange force causes the clouds to start to dissipate overhead. As they move away and disappear, the sun is revealed, and it seems to be a bit brighter than usual even. Feeling the wonderful warmth, Tek relaxes and grins. But the weather doesn't make Zack any happier. No, he's absolutely ticked, and a bit of sunshine isn't going to help a thing. But what might, is inflicting some pain on that lousy rock snake. The little Nidoran runs right up to Tek without hesitation, and starts using his small clawed feet to rip at the rocky body of his foe. He continues for what seems like forever, and though the damage he does is rather minimal, it doesn't matter as long as he's crushing that thing. The repeated strikes at the same place do cause some discomfort, and Onix groans loudly. Finally, having extracted all his anger via physical punishment, the poison point pokemon suddenly feels much better. But of course, he now realizes that he's right next to something at least 10 times his size....

Zack appears quite nervous from this realization, and even more so when the huge serpent lifts his tail into the air. Radiating with an earthly glow, Tek viciously slams his tail into the earth, emitting a powerful shock wave in the process. Knowing he has very little time to waste, Zack ignores his fear and hunkers down to take the blow. A strange white aurora encircles his body as the visibly moving earthen wave approaches him quickly. As the powerful attack slams into him, tossing him airborne, he cries out but maintains his concentration. Even as the poison type impacts the ground with a thud and is further pummeled by aftershock, the glow persists while Nidoran struggles against the pain. Onix appears a bit confused as to why the annoying pokemon isn't being... well, annoying, but hey, its a free hit so he won't think too hard about it.

And that thought continues as the gargantuan rock pokemon again raises his tail high into the air. With a loud roar, he brings the appendage crashing into the ground a second time, repeating the quaking blow of his previous action. And in the very same way, Zack simply waits for the attack to come, making absolutely no effort to avoid or block it. The quake reaches the target pokemon, ground quickly rising and falling and tossing the glowing Nidoran into the sky like a bad habbit once more. As before, Zack lets out an agonized cry as he comes crashing back down to earth, but still the determined poison type holds his concentration. And now, its time for that to pay off... having been gathering all the damage he sustained for the last couple of attacks, the glow around the poison rabbit (now brown in color) sudden brightens, and gathers on the tip of Zack's horn. With a shrill cry, he releases the energy in a single huge beam of earthen energy toward Tek, who looks on with suprise and horror. Such a huge power from such a tiny pokemon... the Onix has little time to think, soon being overtaken by the persistent and incredible beam. The sheer power shoves the massive pokemon back over 5 feet, all the while pummeling him with the pure energy of dual Earthquakes. The energy inevitably is exausted while the beam slowly shrinks and disappears, leaving a battered rock serpent in its wake. Tek's rocky body is badly damaged in the attack, huge cracks appearing across the surface. Breathing heavily from the exertion of such a powerful attack, and aching from having to withstand them, Zack cringes.

With the sun now shining brightly, both pokemon seem to be in great pain, having sustained powerful attacks this round. Still, they are remaining determined to see the battle through to the very end, and the trainers have to think carefully on the coming round.

*Battle*
Both pokemon are really starting to feel the wear of battle, and the trainers take that into consideration as they think about the round. They issue their commands without hesitation, and the pokemon grunt in reply as Round 13 begins.

Taking action first, Tek closes his eyes in deep concentration. His body starts to shimmer with a brown tone, as Zack enters concentration himself. He starts pouring energy out, carefully forming it into a transparent barrier around himself. It slowly takes form, becomming an impenetrable shield, as a wind starts to whip across the arena. The wind is summoned by Tek, and as it whips furiously it starts to draw up dirt and debris, creating a constant flow. The storm of abrasive material speeds around, slamming into Nidoran's shield and curving around it. In the protection of the shield, the poison types eyes start to droop. He slowly lets his body enter a healing trance, though he tries his hardest to maintain the shield around his body. Despite his best efforts, the shield starts to crack, and then disappears altogether as control is lost. Now vulnerable, the sand whips against his body, causing cuts and bruises across, even as his body starts to regenerate cells.

Seeing his foe completely immobile, Tek grins widely. He lifts his serpentine tail high into the air, while starting to radiate an inner gold light once more. He lets out a powerful roar as he brings the stone tail crashing down into the earth, assisted by a terrakinetic force. The blow creates a series of shock waves that surge through the earth, raising it up and down like waves in the ocean is it speeds toward the entranced Nidoran. The quake throws him into the air as it impacts him, and he falls back to the earth with a crash, all the while remaining motionless. His body continues to try and heal itself against the powerful attacks being levied against it, not making much headway however. But suddenly, Zack starts to mumble something in his sleep. As though called to defend him, 2 copies appear beside him, and both of them are "sleeping" as well. Onix merely looks on, suprised to see the appearence of the illusions but knowing it won't do him any good, as the roaring storm of debris shreds the copies like paper dolls and they vanish.

Tek laughs loudly and, as before, the large stone serpent raises his large tail up. Striking the earth with power and conviction, he creates another seismic disturbance that surges through the arena like all the others before. Nidoran is once more tossed into the air by the impact, falling like a rock to the ground below. His back slams into the ground, only to be greeted by the weaker but quite painful aftershocks of the attack. Against of all the punishment he's enduring, the poison point pokemon's body barely manages to keep up with all the damage being done. Its bruised and battered, and he looks even worse for wear than he did previously.

As the round draws to a close, Zack awakens from his zen trance. As soon as he does, he winces in pain and slowly gets to his feet, groaning all the while from both the sand cutting across his skin and the punishment he sustained. His body is nearing its breaking point, and Tek knows it as he gazes at the injured shiny pokemon. The trainers cover their eyes, struggling to see their pokemon through the dust, but are relatively aware of everything thats happening.

*Battle*
The beginning of Round 8, and its looking to be a rather short one, with Zack feeling battered, beaten, and all around just plain. But his trainer has a plan, and he nods carefully while Spike orders his own commands to the fiercesome Onix. All the while, the whipping sandstorm keeps blowing, showing no signs of slowing any time soon.

Ready to finish off the bothersome Nidoran right here and now, Tek starts to raise his tail up for a final quake. As the familiar earthen glow surrounds him, he lets out a roar and starts flinging his tail downward. But before it can hit the ground, and as Zack concentrates, the huge Onix suddenly becomes still. The glow on his body turns a crimson red, and he finds an unknown force holding him still. Zack's eyes shimmer with a similar red hue, as he struggles to keep the large snake in place. Doing his best to hold the foe, the poison type starts to build up a watery orb in his mouth as best he can under the strain of the psionic lock. Around the aquatic ball, an icy wind starts to build. But the shiny Nidoran, fairly unskilled in psychic endeavors and under pain and stress of combining 2 more attacks, is unable to hold Tek for long. The rock serpent finally manages to break Zack's hold, and brings his tail down hard on the ground. The shock waves speed through the ground, and fearful of the upcoming attack Nidoran fires his attacks prematurely. Just as he fires off the attack, Zack is slammed by the approaching quake. He bounces around, yelping in pain under the painful attack. Meanwhile, the sonic water orb and a small bit of snow and ice speed toward Tek. Water splashes across his face, drenching him while the snow bombards him afterwards, coating his front in frost. He roars in pain, but the icy barrage quickly ends. He opens his eyes and looks toward his foe, who is no longer moving. Onix grins, glad to have finally crushed the tiny poison point pokemon's spirit.

As Zack lies bruised and unconcious, Tek awaits his next opponent. Crystal smiles softly, knowing that Zack did a great job. Round closing, she recalls the fallen shiny back to his pokeball for a well deserved rest, and carefully thinks about her next choice.

*Battle*
Amongst the raging wind and sand, Crystal pulls out a second shiny pokeball. She reaches back, then tosses it out into the arena. A flash is seen through the dust, and a startled cry is heard as the palandrome pokemon named Freya finds herself immedietly battered by the whirling sand. Squinting her eyes, she looks toward her trainer questioningly, and Crystal nods and issues her orders. Spike bears an evil grin on his face as he too orders his pokemon, and Round 9 begins.

Trying her hardest to ignore the tide of sand flowing across her skin, Freya carefully closes her eyes. Summoning up her strong psychic power, her eyes glow a brilliant cerulean as she opens them wide. The psychic giraffe wraps her telekinetic force around Tek's body, and then suddenly starts to push each portion in opposite directions. The mineral serpent cries out as he feels the immense pressure pushing across his body, but still recalls his trainers command. Opening his mouth, Tek starts to blast out a horrible high pitched cry, like a dozen cats ice skating on a blackboard. The shrill noise echoes across the arena, reaching Freya's ears in moments. Even the experienced psychic finds herself unable to retain concentration under such a potent distraction, and she soon finds herself closing her eyes and shivering. Even her tail looks to be discomforted, bearing a look of utter annoyance. The cry soon ceases as Onix runs out of breath, but its purpose has been served, and a ringing persists in Freya's ears even after the source is cut. The giant snake looks much at ease now that he's not being torn apart.

With the still present ringing noise, Girafarig tries hard to block it out and concentrate. The bite of the sand and that darn annoying sound make the process a rather long one, but she finally does manage to condition her mind enough to get a psychic attack going. But when she opens her eyes, a rather frightening sight awaits her. Tek's entire body is glowing, covered in a sheer mass of energy. So much power, that can't be good, Freya thinks to herself. And indeed its not, as suddenly all the power is released in a collossal explosion. The attack bursts forth in all directions, an ever expanding white dome of energy. Freya frantically tries in vain to hold back the explosion with her mind, but is soon taken by the blast. Completely covered by the attack, she cries out as the energy sears her skin, causing unimaginable pain. The blast finally dissipates, and as the smoke clears Tek comes into view in the middle of it all, body black and completely immobile on the ground. But poor Freya doesn't look to great either, also a bit blackened, hunkered down and wimpering in general pain.

As Spike lets his unconcious Onix back into his ball, he grins to himself and reaches down for another pokeball. Meanwhile, Crystal stands feeling sorry for her poor Freya, watching her writhe and shudder in agony. But she takes some solace in the knowledge that the raging sands have subsided, whether thanks to natural means or the explosion.

Grinning as he reaches down, Spike grips another pokeball and chucks it hard into the middle of the charred arena. Out of the ball appears a strong looking mantis, who rubs his scythes together and grins at the pained giraffe. Spike issues his orders to Finus, while Crystal talks to the injured Freya and coaches her on the round.

Possessing incredible speed, Finus wastes no time getting right into this battle. Lowering his scythes and entering a calm pose, his eyes close as he concentrates carefully. A series of spinning lights flow from his body, encircling him in a protective aura. Even as the lights dim, a faint glow remains, providing a lasting protection. During the same time, Freya cringes in pain, but fights the stinging bite of the burns and starts to build up electrical current. The high voltage energy hops across her charred fur, building stronger with each passing moment. Then with a cry, she raises her head to the sky and releases the power. A jagged yellow bolt flies up, and then turns and arcs toward the calm Scyther. He tries to sidestep the bolt, but it catches his arm and he is engulfed in the powerful electricity. The sparks flow across him, stinging his exoskeleton but prevented from entering his body by his protection. The green bug shakes his head as the attack finally exausts itself, shrugging of the pain well.

Keeping up the pace, Finus crouches down. A brief moment of focus, and suddenly he speeds off in a random direction, unleashing his full speed. The swift mantis dashes here and there, almost an invisible blur, almost as though taunting Freya to try and hit him. She takes that dare, and electricity starts to charge once more across her body. The charge takes much less time that before, and soon she fires off a series of small electrical blasts through her horns. The barrage of sparks fires over a large area in a scattered formation, and even the ninja bug can't dodge so many bursts. Finus grunts as a good number of sparks pepper his body, each causing a mild shock on contact. He comes to a temporary stop after the attack ends, and glares at Girafarig with vindiction.

Then, in the blink of an eye, and well before Freya has a chance to respond, Scyther dashes right up to the psychic type. He flashes a wicked smile, before raising one scythe. With impressive speed, he whips the blade across Freya's chest, leaving a deep gash and causing her to screech in pain. He jumps back a few feet and looks toward the wimpering giraffe, tauntingly rubbing one scythe against the other. The damage done, a preventive attack is rather pointless, but regardless Girafarig closes her eyes tightly. She wraps herself in a blanket of psionic power, and then causes the power to erupt into a bright strobe. Finus yelps in suprise as the blinding pulse impairs his vision, causing him to see nothing but bright balls of light. The mantis squirms uneasily as he uses the backs of his claws to try and rub his eyes, with little success mind you.

With her opponent distracted for the time being, Freya bends her head down and licks at the painful chest wound, wincing as she does. She wimpers as the pain from her heavy burns resurfaces, entire body feeling as though on fire and causing a deal if discomfort. Finus on the other hand is still blind and struggling, rather annoyed in general.

[color=#FFDD11]Probably because of the way I ref Shock Wave and weaknesses... I don't do weaknesses as 2x damage, makes battles too fast IMO. Instead I add around 30%, still makes using a weakness a good thing but not so much that you could kill an opponent in 5 powerful moves. And as far as SW, since Scyther was moving so fast it was used as a wide spray so naturally it didn't do full damage. I don't do the whole "heat-seaking electricity" thing.

But anyway, Thunder did 15% with weakness, 12% is normal damage. Shock Wave normally does 6%, would go to 8% or so with weakness but because the speed of Scyther I reduced it. So downed it to 5%.

*Battle*
Round 11 comes up upon the scarred battlefield, and the combatants are fighting fiercely as ever. Each trainer gives a series of attack commands to the pokemon, who both nod in reply.

Hoping to aggrivate his opponent despite his visual impairment, Finus tries to locate the giraffe, listening carefully. But he hears nothing, so he simply hopes for the best and starts his taunt. Pointing his scythe toward what he assumes to be his foe, he starts to shout some rather obscene things. And Freya would be rather insulted, if not for the fact that Scyther is pointing at a rock. Instead, she's rather amused at the bug hurling his best disses at the inanimate object. She grins to herself, and then focuses. Her eyes start to glow white, as she gazes into the future. Sensing the perfect time for a strike, Freya releases a psionic charge set to explode at that particular moment, and then smiles as her eyes return to normal. Even while she completes the vision of the future, Scyther is taking out all his annoyed rage on the rock, going on about how its mother slept with a Shedinja or some such foolishness.

Freya can't help but laugh at that final insult to the poor rock, and Finus realizes that something didn't work out quite right there. He grumbles something incoherent, and then raises his scythes up. Focusing his energy through the sharp appendages, a barely visible pink screen is erected before the mantis, providing some well-needed protection against energy of all types. Paying little attention, Girafarig starts to siphon ethereal energy from the ghostly realm, pooling it between her small horns. Glowing an eerie yellow shade, the orb pulses and grows in size till its proportional to a basketball. Then, Freya whips her head around and sends the apparitional projectile on a crash course with the blinded green insect. Scyther hears a strange explosion as the ball slams into his barrier, and is then overtaken by a wave of ghostly power. He shudders and shrieks as the strange burst of energy flows straight through his body, causing intense pain but no visible damage to his anatomy. With the energy quickly dissipating back to the realm from which it came, Finus opens his eyes to find his sight restored a fair deal, and can make out his opponents sillouette in the distance.

And thats all the annoyed Scyther needs. He stands tall and starts to beat his wings rapidly in that general direction, whipping up a signifigant gust. As his wings flap at high speed, a silvery energy releases from them, being blown with the wind toward the unsuspecting Freya. She's a bit suprised by the decent accuracy of the attack, and quickly finds the wind whipping across her body. The sparkling silver particles flow into her as the wind blows, causing her to cringe in discomfort while she stumbles back from the wind force. Finus' wings soon slow, and the wind dies down, leaving Freya free from the annoyance. The giraffe calls upon her psychic ability, and a blue glow envelops Finus. He feels the psionic grip squeezing him, pushing in on his exoskeleton from every angle while Girafarig grunts softly in concentration. And even as Freya's telekinetic grasp holds him, the forseen charge placed by the clever psychic goes off, causing a psionic explosion behind the bug type. He is thrown forward by the burst, letting out a suprised shout as he crashes into the ground face first. Finus pushes himself to his feet as the sapphire glow fades, feeling sore all over. Meanwhile Freya seems overjoyed that her look into the future was a successful endeavor.

But her happiness is short lived, as the burns inflicted upon her causing a constant sting all across her body. While she squirms in discomfort, Finus fully regains his vision and looks toward his trainer, still embued with a faint protective glow and his newly errected shield.

Both pokemon remain determined to defeat the other, and the trainers issue their orders hoping to help them with their goal. Round 12 begins as the combatants start to fight again.

After taking a brief moment to loosen his wings, Finus starts to beat them rapidly. The wind starts to kick up, but Freya isn't just going to stand and take the attack. With an ethereal boost of speed, so fast its almost instantaneous, she dashes straight for her opponent. Before he knows whats happening, Scyther stumbles back in suprise as the psychic rams him from the side. He raises his eyes, questioning just how she managed to do that, but he still intends to attack her. His quad wings flutter furiously, sending a strong gust toward Freya as silvery particles of energy shed from the wings and are carried with the wind. Its Girafarig's turn to be suprised, expecting to have stopped the attack but clearly she didn't as the sparkling powder surrounds her. The insectous energy digs into her, and she lets out a pained cry while Scyther keeps flapping, hoping to prolong her pain. But inevitably the mantis finds his wings needing to rest, and as they slow it stops the shining windstream.

Intent to keep the pace of battle, Scyther raises one sharpened blade and rushes toward a stunned Freya. As the swift, ninjalike insect reaches his prey, his razor sharp weapon is brought down on the psychic. The swift slice leaves Girafarig with a long gash across her body, and her wimpers of pain accompany the sound of the scythe whooshing through the air. Finus pulls his scythe back to its resting position and grins at the hurting giraffe. Seeing the wicked grin, Freya pushes the sting of the wound to the back of her mind and lets her psychic energy envelop her. In moments, Finus' cruel smile is met with a burst of white light, leaving him seeing nothing but a blob of white. He lifts his arms and instinctively starts to rub them, hoping to rid himself of the impairment. But its not quite so easy, and the splotter of light remains firmly in his field of vision.

Now forced to the defensive, Finus tries his best to concentrate. Without vision, he's relying purely on his sense of hearing to detect any possible attacks incoming. Crouching down, he prepares himself to dart out of the way at a moments notice. But the wounded Freya has no intention of attacking, firm in the knowledge that she has to rest herself or risk falling too soon. And with that, she closes her eyes and lets her mind enter a state of nothingness. While her mind meditates, the natural healing process is boosted and her body starts to repair the damage its endured. Most noticably, the cut sustained earlier immedietly seals itself, and internally the systems are regenerating.

Even the healing trance isn't enough to heal the intense burns just yet, and they start counteract the surface healing with ongoing damage. As Finus senses the round drawing to a close, he erects himself to a full stand and again starts to rub at his eyes, hoping to relieve the discomfort and restore his sight. The trainers watch as both pokemon struggle to cope with their individual difficulties, and think about the next round's attacks carefully.

Um… Is your Rest still considered sleeping? If so..

Freya use Sleep talk this entire round!

If its not.

Then keep resting until/if you wake up. Then use Thunderbolt, unless there’s clones or he’s trying to dodge, then use Shockwave.

*Battle*
With Freya entranced and her opponent debilitated, the round is shaping up to be rather interesting. The trainers give their commands, hoping for the best. Finus nods in reply, while Girafarig stands silently.

Finus closes his blinded eyes and hopes to rely on sound alone to find his target. He starts to flutter his wings again, picking up the wind. This time, however, its in a much more widespread fasion, rather than a focused stream. The gust blows in a wide 180 degree arc, and as it picks up the shimmering silver dust starts to spread all around. Flowing on unhindered on the breeze, the bug energy particles create a pretty scene, but not so for Freya. She shifts uncomfortably while the energy cuts into and across her body. But being in a trance, she makes no sounds, much to Scyther's dismay. However, she does start to mutter something in her sleep soon after. The bug picks up on the sound and turns toward it, as a blue glow surrounds the giraffe. What Finus hears next is a rumble of thunder, as overhead the clouds start to roll in. A cool rain starts to pour down upon the charred arena, creating a sooty black mud (Rain Dance). As the water washes over Freya, the burns across her body are soothed, quelling the constant pain.

With Girafarig's body working hard to restore itself, the lime mantis thinks he has a general idea of where his immobile foe is. Dashing through the black mud toward the location of the sounds he heard just moments ago, Scyther hopes to get a bit of luck. As he nears what he thinks to be the location, he opens his eyes and glances around. The blurr still persists, but its lessening, and he sees the outline of the ungulate just in front of him. Grinning, he pulls one of his razor sharp scythes and rakes it across Freya's chest, knowing he hit the mark as he feels the weapon against a solid object. A trickle of blood is quickly washed from the claw by the falling rain as he lowers it to his side. The damage done, Finus relaxes, but in moments Girafarig stats to mumble again. Then unexpectedly, she rears up on her hind legs. Scyther can't see clearly, but he sees movement coming toward him just as the entranced Freya kicks the mantis in the shoulder with some force (Stomp). He stumbles back and shouts in pain, taken by complete suprise.

While Finus examines the cracked exoskeleton of his shoulder, the sleeping giraffe awakens. She's a bit groggy and blinks her eyes, yawning a bit. She's immedietly aware of the cool rain falling around her, and takes a moment to enjoy the shower against her sore flesh. But the calm is short lived, as Scyther growls at her, vision now crystal clear. Lifting his uninjured arm, he crouches down and leaps toward Freya. The metallic scythe flies through the air, cutting across Girafarig's burnt flesh without remorse. Freya shrieks in pain while her insectoid opponent steps back, looking satisfied. Snapped back to the painful reality of the battle by the assault, she wastes no time preparing for her own attack. A static charge builds across her body, sparks flashing across her. With an annoyed cry, she releases the lightning bolt from her horns toward Scyther. The voltage cuts through the damp air with ease, slamming into Finus and flowing through his anatomy. Bright yellow electricity lights up the area as the mantis twitches under the attack. Freya starts to cringe as the current dissipates, feeling the pain of the attacks sustained while in her trance rush back all at once.

With the pain rapidly increasing, the psychic type groans softly, but continues to take brief comfort from the chilly rain against her wounds. Finus rotates his injured shoulder as a few stray sparks jump across his damp skin, and slits his eyes toward Freya. Even in her sleep she's quite annoying, and he's not too happy.

Arena Status: Rain falling (2 rounds), black mud all over the ground

*Battle*
With the arena fast turning into a black swamp under the falling rain, both trainers quietly consider their next moves. Having thought briefly, each orders their pokemon for the upcoming Round 14.

Lingering memories of the painful electric shock of the last round, Finus raises his head to the sky. This rain has to go, he thinks to himself as he concentrates. With a bright orange aura radiating across his body, the skies begin to clear as though being shoved aside by the sun god. As the clouds move away, the rain subsides and the bright sunlight is fully exposed, bathing the arena in a warm glow. Scyther smiles with satisfaction, letting the heat wash over him. Freya is much less happy with the change, the beating sun aggrivating her burns and causing her a deal of distress. Still, her body starts to glow with electricity as she builds up a current. Pumping out so much power at one time will be a difficult feat, but with confidence she prepares, steadily increasing the voltage.

But Finus isn't just going to wait for his opponent to fry him. Opening his jaw, a pale yellow glow shimmers inside. Then with a shout, the mantis sends out a flurry of star shaped energy rays. They cut swiftly through the air, heading straight for an electrified Freya. She winces as the multitudes of stars pelt her, causing minor cuts across her body. Miniature bloody wounds appear across her injured form, and the immense pain tells her that she won't be able to keep up for much longer. With an increasing volume of sparks dancing across her, but not enough for the desired combo, she faces a decision. Fire prematurely, or face the chance of falling before she can fire at all. The palindrome pokemon airs on the side of caution, raising her head and letting what electricity she has built fly into the air. Twin bolts of immense power circle one another as they rise, and then curve downward toward Scyther. He steps back and looks on with horror as the mass of voltage speeds toward him. Thinking quickly, he uses his agility to leap to the side as the bolt comes down. It slams into the ground as Finus breathes a sigh of relief, but unfortunately for him the earth is still wet... enough so that it conducts a good portion of the powerful energy. He shrieks as the electricity flows across the ground and through him as he lands. His body becomes engulfed by the flow of electrons, sparks rushing across his exoskeleton. Twitching under the attack, he feels a mild sensation of paralysis through his muscles. When the current finally runs dry, the psychic lets the pain take over and she wimpers, while a few stray bolts jump across Finus' body and he groans loudly.

Pushing the agony of the attack to the back of his mind, the bug slits his eyes toward Freya with rage. His mouth opens again as he lets fly a second splash of energy shurikens. She barely sees the attack coming, cringing in the pain she's already under. The giraffe cries loudly, feeling the swarm of rays dash across every part of her skin. The mounting pain from the flying stars pushes Girafarig over the edge, and she drops into unconciousness, falling immobile to the mud with a slosh. Finus sighs deeply, content with having finally defeated the formidable psychic.

Crystal Tears pulls out her pokeball and recalls Freya, smiling at the good job the pokemon did. While she thinks about her next choice, Finus looks to be in a deal of pain brought on by the giraffe's last assault. He stands, ready for whatever comes next, masking the pain.

I never liked the idea of combo's consisting purely of very powerful energy attacks. Always seemed like a cheap attempt to cram as much damage as possible before getting KO'd. Plus, you figure it'd be hard to prepare that sheer amount of energy. So instead of the normal combo mechanic, where the combo fires immedietly, instead a large combo like this requires time to "charge".

*Battle*
After congratulating her psychic on a good battle, Crystal Tears eagerly pulls out her third pokeball of the match. Tossing it to the ground, a bright streak of light emerges, growing to an impressive size before dissipating to reveal a large Snorlax. The beast, named Quale, rubs his stomach and looks lazily at Scyther. The mantis looks on at the large normal type with awe, then glances nervously at his trainer. Both he and Crystal issue their commands to the waiting pokemon.

Even effected by paralysis, Finus proves to be the faster of the two combatants. Not taking any chances, he rapidly beats his wings and takes to the air, hoping to use the sun as a buffer against attacks. As he soars upward, Quale covers his eyes with one hand against the glare of the sun, and takes a deep breath. A bunch of chilly energy starts to build in his mouth, in the form of a frosty blue orb. But Scyther has drawn up his own attack, a concoction of fluids combined into a toxic stew. He spews the purple blob down at Quarl, like some punk kid hocking a loogie off a building. The mess splatters over Snorlax', seeming ineffective at first, and in moments he blows out a strong, ice and snow blast up toward his assailant. The bug's strategy proves sound, as the intense sunlight melts much of the frosty blast, but even so the wind and chilly water splatters against him, tossing him about. As the wind gradually dies down, a loud groan is heard as the poisons work there way through Quale's thick skin and into his bloodstream. The large pokemon shifts uncomfortably, trying to ease the irritation of the toxins.

While the normal type struggles, Finus sees an opportunity to get a good hit in. He turns down and starts to fly toward Snorlax, but lets out a worried stutter as he feels his wings lock up. Unable to move, the mantis falls helpless toward the ground as gravity takes its toll. He smashes into the damp dirt near Quale with a thump. The lazy pokemon turns his head and looks at the battered bug, nonchalant. Mouth widening to a grin, sparks start to jump across his body as a current builds. He extends one huge arm toward Scyther, guiding the barrage of bolts at the downed flyer. Though he can't feel it through the paralysis, each spark eats away at his injuries, further weakning him.

After the high voltage attack, the injured Scyther finally regains control over his body. Pushing himself to his feet with his scythes, pained expression on his face, Finus grunts weakly. Still, he lifts his arms and closes his eyes, intent on defending himself with everything he's got. His energy flows from his body, forming a solid cirular barrier around him. Quale shrugs, and then his body starts to glow a faint white. The glow fades away in moments, but leaves his hide looking somewhat more rigid than before. Sensing no oncoming attacks from his round foe, Finus releases his energy, the shield shattering and fading away.

Feeling the pain wash over him again, Finus falls to one knee, propping himself up on his scythes. Quale looks to be in fat... er, good form, but he squirms a bit as the poisons work there way through his bloodstream. The trainers look on anxiously, ready as always for the next round while the sun beats down on the field.

*Battle*

Though up against a threatening foe, Spike orders his wounded bug with determination. He nods weakly, while Crystal Tears gives her own orders for extermination.

Hoping his speed will allow a swift attack to the large normal type, Finus shuts his eyes. Spreading energy through his muscles, he feels them limber up. His eyes shoot open as he stands, then pushes off with his feet and rushes for the oppenent with great agility. He dashes around Quale, coming to a quick halt behind him. The green mantis takes a deep breath before lunging toward the blob, intent on spreading his pain to the foe. But even from behind, and with swift excecution, he finds himself smashing directly into a faintly glowing barrier around Snorlax. After crashing into the shield, he stumbles back a bit, stunned and surprised. Quale chuckles as the energy breaks and dissipates.

But Scyther remains determined, shaking his head and narrowing his eyes toward the rotund pokemon. He opens his jaws, revealing a growing sphere of gold energy. Pouring everything he has into the blast, he shouts as a beam streaks from his mouth at Snorlax. The sleeping pokemon (classification, not actually sleeping  ) takes the mighty blast, his stomach shaking violently as the energy plows into him. Quale looks relatively sturdy despite the powerful attack, and as it narrows a scattering of electrical current builds across his body. To lazy to even face the opponent, he merely sweeps his hand behind his head, releasing a number of sparks that jut through the air. Finus breathes heavily, having exausted himself with the immense energy release, and screeches when the electrical projectiles hit home. The small discharges each cause a localized sting, and the insect soon finds himself woozy under the pain. He sways forward a bit, dropping his scythes to his side before collapsing to the ground.

With the battered bug lying in a heap on the ground, Spike reaches for his pokeball. Quale smiles lazily, but at the same time his eyes cringe while the poison keeps working inside his body. Overhead, a few clouds start to blow in as the weather returns to its normal cycle.
