View Full Version : Casino Royale Challenge: Green Lanturn vs. Toxicity (Ref:Phoenixsong)

Well, I havent had a battle in a while, and this is an old fighting ground I really enjoy.

The Battle:
2 on 2: Singles Match
DQ:5 Days
Banned Moves: Lets keep this interesting, no moves are banned, but non-damaging healing moves like rest and heal bell are limited to once per pokemon. All other moves are fair game.
I'd rather not say who chooses first and who attacks first, we will IM our pokes to the Ref and they shall decide such things.

And now, my arena:

Casino Royale:
A large Las Vegas Casino, situated in the heart of the vegas casino-line. The main area is full of slot machines, card tables and the like, all of which are able to be used as weapons. In the middle of this area there is a large Fountain, and above it there is an opening revealing a large skylight and the 10 floors above. Elevators can be used if needed, though they do provide an easy place to be attacked.Keep in mind, we are indoors, and while anything inside can be used as a weapon, there are no weather changes, its all closed up.

Any gamblers out there?

I'll go ahead and offer to ref this now... it looks like an interesting arena/terms and I'd like to battle you, but it's always difficult to find refs, so...

Anyway, finding a challenger will be a lot easier than finding a ref. Now, the process of waiting until one appears...

Toxicity

I'm willing to take the challenge, if you don't mind.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't see Toxicity had already challenged.

Heh, very well, the challenge is set!

And on a side note: Mega Horny, i'd be happy to take you on as well in a different topic, as this is currently my only fight.

OK Then! That was actually quicker than i thought, especially on the ref, so thanks Phoenixsong.

So me and Toxicity will go ahead and IM our first pokes to you.

Here we go!

Ah, my apologies... for some reason, I thought that had already been decided. Yeah, go ahead.

Toxicity

Stoner, start off with a Dive into the fountain if you could possibly avoid the use of Yawn, and then come back up with that single powerful smack in the form of a Headbutt, and then use a Yawn of your own. If you do fall victim to Yawn, just use Sleep Talk as an alternative.

Dive :: Headbutt :: Yawn (sub: Sleep Talk)

Sorry that this took so long... I've been as busy as heck lately and didn't have time to write this. I should be totally free by Saturday afternoon, so expect the next reffing by then (if I don't weasel in a little time to work on it sooner).

Arena

Casino Royale

A large Las Vegas casino, situated in the heart of the Vegas casino-line. The main area is full of slot machines, card tables and the like, all of which are able to be used as weapons. In the middle of this area there is a large fountain, and above it there is an opening revealing a large skylight and the 10 floors above. Elevators can be used if needed, though they do provide an easy place to be attacked. Keep in mind, we are indoors, and while anything inside can be used as a weapon, there are no weather changes; it’s all closed up.

Round One: Begin!

The Casino Royale is a place of glorious sin, filled with every sort of enticing gambling table and money-stealing machine known to Las Vegas. Normally, the battles fought here are moral and financial ones: should I cut and run now before I lose my house, or should I stick it out for another roll of the dice? Green Lanturn and Toxicity, however, have other plans. Unaffected by the lure of the slots and cards, the two trainers have decided to smack each other around in a fairly quick Pokémon battle. They release their Pokémon—a male Ursaring named Otto and a male Slowpoke named That Stoner—onto the slick, marble-tiled floor by the showy fountain and get ready for action.

The flashing lights and constant “Ka-ching! Ka-ching!” of the whirring gambling machines make the Casino Royale a very difficult place to even imagine sleep. And yet, strangely, that is exactly what Otto seems to be doing: he opens his cavernous, ursine maw in a long, tired Yawn. The completely oblivious Stoner doesn’t really notice at first; it also takes him a moment to realize that he’s supposed to jump into the water of the fountain, and he finally obliges. Then again, “jump” might perhaps be too strong a word for the actions of a Slowpoke; “crawled lethargically” might be a better descriptive term. All the same, the effect is the same as the energetic Dive Toxicity had intended, and That Stoner is now completely submerged. As he floats beneath the surface, Stoner slowly begins to realize that he is even sleepier than usual, and yawns a bit himself.

Otto is now faced with a bit of a dilemma: his opponent is hiding under the water of the sparkling fountain, and the big bear is supposed to hit him with a gob of Toxic goo. At a loss for what else to do, Otto walks over to the side of the fountain and begins coughing and choking. The gamblers in the surrounding area look up briefly from their wild winning streaks (or unfortunate lack thereof, depending on the case) at the disgusting sounds; they quickly jerk back to what they were doing as they catch a glimpse of the Ursaring hacking up a glob of thick, foul-smelling purple biotoxins. Instead of splattering over That Stoner and poisoning him, as Green Lanturn had hoped, the poison simply hits the surface of the water and begins to dissolve (nevertheless turning the once-beautiful fountain waters into a sickly, purplish mess). Again, it takes That Stoner a moment to figure out what he’s supposed to be doing, and his somewhat increased stupor isn’t helping much. He finally gets himself together and launches himself out of the water and into the air with a surprisingly strong flick of his tail. Otto, being so close to the fountain’s edge, cannot possibly avoid the Magical Flying Slowpoke and so is pummeled in the chest by Stoner’s Headbutt. The Ursaring staggers backward in shock and pain and Stoner lands clumsily on the ground. Having successfully completed his task for the round, Stoner yawns a second time and happily drifts off to sleep, completely unaware of the icy water still dripping off of him.

Otto is not thrilled by the fact that he was just assaulted by a Magical Flying Slowpoke, and now that Stoner is asleep the bear has a chance to get even. Otto draws back a massive fist, which begins to glow with a bright, bluish light as the air temperature around it drops rapidly. With an angry swing Otto slams his chilled fist into the Slowpoke’s body; Stoner slides backwards across the tiled floor with a wet squeak. That Stoner, as usual, does absolutely nothing about Otto’s Ice Punch; at least, not at first. Incapable of trying to put his adversary to sleep as he was originally told to do, Stoner instead begins to roll around a bit and mumble in his sleep. To Otto’s surprise, the Slowpoke gets up—still sound asleep, mind you—and wanders lazily over to him. Completely taken aback by his foe’s sudden bout of somnambulism, Otto is caught off-guard as Stoner’s tail whips around out of nowhere and slams into him with almost furious force. Despite the fact that he was still snoozing, Stoner and his Sleep Talking managed to pull off a nice Façade attack. Attacking finished, Stoner slumps back to the floor and continues his blissful slumber.

A few enterprising casino employees, having taken an interest in the strange battle, are now encouraging the casino patrons to bet on the outcome of the battle. The match is still fairly close at this early stage: Otto is somewhat less tired than his foe (both energy-wise and in terms of alertness), while That Stoner was able to cause quite a bit more damage to his foe. It finally occurs to the sleeping Slowpoke that he was recently submerged in icy water and is still dripping with it; he wakes up with something of a start. The excited gamblers are choosing sides as they wait for Green Lanturn and Toxicity to choose their next attacks.

The tiled floor around and near That Stoner is slightly wet and a bit slippery. The water of the fountain has turned a nasty purple color, and it will take a few rounds for the filtration cycle to get rid of that.

Ref’s Notes
-Toxic failed because it dissolved in the water and became harmless before reaching That Stoner.

-The RNG decided that That Stoner’s Sleep Talk would mimic Façade.

-The (eventual) shock of being submerged in cold water woke That Stoner up sooner than he normally would have.

-Toxicity attacks first next round.

Alrighty, Stoner! You're doing good!

Now, as for this round, let's make things a little more simple. Try Growling to intimidate Otto, and then try to Yawn once again. When he's asleep, finish with a Dream Eater, but if he proves to remain awake, douse him with a Psychic!

Growl ~ Yawn ~ Dream Eater (sub: Psychic)

ACK! I was so engrossed in getting ready to do my reffings this slipped my mind....ok, lets get moving.

Otto, dont let that little thing intimidate you with that growl, use it's wetness to your avantage and blast it with a Zap Cannon! Dont worry about that Yawn for now, lets do something unusual....use Rock Tomb, but instead of using rocks, use slot machines! And while he is using psychic to move all the machines off of him, hit him hard from behind with Faint Attack, or Sleep Talk if you have already fallen asleep.

Keep in mind, we are indoors, and while anything inside can be used as a weapon, there are no weather changes; it’s all closed up.

Round Two: Begin!

As much fun as it is to blow money on slots, card tables and other such pretty, sparkly money-stealers, the gamblers at the Casino Royale are currently far more absorbed in a rather large battle that is taking place. Otto the Ursaring, trained by Green Lanturn, and That Stoner the Slowpoke, trained by Toxicity, are currently duking it out by the large fountain, and the casino staff is taking bets as to the outcome of the fight.

Otto is not thrilled at being one-upped by a lazy little Slowpoke; therefore, he tells himself that the low, lethargic Growl That Stoner lets out is not so much scary as it is annoying. Shaking off the slightly uncomfortable feeling he felt upon hearing Stoner’s snarl, the Ursaring decides to wipe the dopey grin off of his adversary’s face with a good, hearty Zap Cannon. The bear extends his arms and draws upon the little electrical pulses running through his body, channeling them into his claws. With a roar, Otto launches a massive sphere of electrical energy straight at That Stoner; despite a disconcerting amount of erratic jerking, the energy blast hits its mark and electrocutes the wet Water-type. The Slowpoke’s body jerks around wildly for a minute or two before stopping. It takes another ten or so seconds for Stoner to have even an inkling of his intense pain, and when it finally kicks in he cries out in agony.

As one might expect of a Slowpoke, That Stoner has absolutely no idea that he is paralyzed and cannot move. In all honesty, however, one has to wonder if a Slowpoke would even care that it has been rendered immobile. Certainly the paralysis does not hinder Stoner’s next move: the pink creature opens his mouth wide, much as Otto did during the previous round. The Ursaring begins to feel somewhat sleepy as he watches That Stoner Yawn and laze about, but after giving a little yawn of his own he shakes the feeling off. No time for snoozing when there’s work to be done. Otto strides purposefully over to the slot machines and, without so much as a by-your-leave to the already high-strung gamblers, rips one of the one-armed bandits clear out of the floor, raises it above his head and heaves it straight at That Stoner. As the machine crashes down on Stoner, Otto stamps his feet as hard as he can, causing several more nearby slot machines to rise up into the air and sail toward his foe. The machines slam into Stoner, trapping him underneath their weight. Otto smiles sleepily to himself, pleased that his Rock Tomb worked despite the absence of any stones.

Failing to notice the heavy slot machines pinning him to the floor, That Stoner proceeds with his attack. The Slowpoke concentrates hard—quite an amazing feat, really—and reaches out to grasp the bear’s brain with his mind. Otto flinches as he feels Stoner’s stranglehold on his thoughts, crying out in fear and surprise as he is lifted into the air by his brain. Stoner swings Otto around wildly for a moment before it finally kicks in: oh, yeah… he’s stuck under a bunch of slot machines! This surprising revelation startles Stoner so much that he drops Otto to the floor. Smarting from the fall and sporting a monster headache, Otto nevertheless picks himself up from the floor. To the utter amazement of the surrounding gamblers, the massive Ursaring vanishes into thin air! Without warning, Otto reappears right behind the pile of slot machines covering his foe and slams a fist straight into the pile. Even infused with arcane dark energy, however, Otto’s Faint Attack fails to do altogether too much to Stoner, and is certainly ineffective compared to the Slowpoke’s rather aggressive Psychic. Otto pouts a bit with frustration; that frown is quickly replaced by a large, yawn, however, and soon Otto is on the floor, fast asleep.

Many of the gamblers taking bets on the match are still hemming and hawing as to who they’re willing to back. Otto is not as injured as the battered and paralyzed Stoner and is not sitting underneath a small hill of slot machines, so several of the guests are leaning more in his favor. On the other hand, some of the other betters argue, at least That Stoner is awake; Otto is still snoring on the floor. Green Lanturn and Toxicity must think long and hard about how they’re going to work around these status ailments; they can’t think for too long, however, because a few of the casino staffers have scurried upstairs to tell the boss about the destroyed slot machines…

Several slot machines have been torn out of the floor and are now littered over the center of the battlefield and covering That Stoner.

Ref’s Notes
-Yawn and Psychic cost extra energy (-1%) due to the stress of using them while paralyzed.

-Faint Attack’s effectiveness was reduced because the slot machines were blocking Otto’s path to Stoner.

-Green Lanturn attacks first next round.

Unfortunate as it is, I've got to DQ Green Lanturn. This is all yours, Toxicity. Now, let's see... *goes to check reffing info* Since no significant damage was done before the match had to be called, no one gets anything. Ah, well. It was fun while it lasted.
