I'm having problems with assholefiles, .asf files.

I download a lot of anime/old skool cartoons/etc and it's usually in .avi or .wmv, but the service was bought out and now the stuff has been changed to .asf files. I can play .asf files fine and all, but they're not asf asf. If that makes sense?

They're like this:
"SamuraiPizzaCats14.asf.001"
"SamuraiPizzaCats14.asf.002"
"SamuraiPizzaCats14.asf.003"

and I have no idea how to play them. Can anybody help~?

I have some Trap Door episodes too but they're .avi.001.

EDIT: I tried reading this (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/81566) but yeah... x_x

In my experiences, .asf should just be a file type like avi or wmv - all you have to do is find a decent media player e.g. WinAmp and download the right codecs for it (the codec being .asf). The .001, .002 etc. seems like what happens when programs such as WinRar (I think WinRar, not sure) are used to split up programs to make them smaller. The downside is that you need the software used to split it up or similar to piece it together again and make it one viewable file.

This isn't my strongpoint, so don't take this as gospel, I could very well be wrong, but if I was in your shoes, I'd explore those options first.

I've tried throwing it through Winamp, Windows Media and Quicktime. The only one I haven't tried it Real player since I don't have it, and they don't load on either.

So what part of this didn't you follow? The files you downloaded were split archives, you need to merge the archives and extract the ASF file using WinRAR (http://www.rarlabs.com) (or 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org), which is free).

I get either the same .001 .002 and .003 files that I put into WinRar or I get .001 right through to .049 and neither play.

I think the asf files are split using a program, like HJ-split.

It's freeware that you can download here (http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/). If it isn't that then I don't have a clue.

simple, really...install winrar or 7zip, right click on the .001 file, click "extract here" in the popup menu and it will extract the .asf file. then you can play it in whatever media player you use.
