Ripping audio from video?

VirtualDubMod (http://virtualdubmod.sourceforge.net) is the only acceptable answer to this question

Importing a video into an animated gif?

This one's harder. I use Animation Shop (http://fyad.org/kiq4) but it isn't freeware. I'll leave someone else to field this one because I don't do it much.

I use Animation Shop as well, although I don't recall ever paying anything for it... it was bundled with my copy of Paint Shop, which I believe was a free download. I thought I got it from Jasc's site, but if it isn't freeware... that's weird. Where the heck did I get this program, then? o_0

Anyway, to the main point of my post; I've done editing of GIFs and JPGs before, but I've never actually taken a video file and changed it into a GIF. How well does that tend to work with Animation Shop? (For that matter, how the heck do you do it in the first place? Do you have to use a special method to import the file, or can you just choose to open it using AS?)

Just open it in Animation Shop. Obviously the quality/file size is dire because the GIF standard is outdated anyway (maximum of 255 colours and frame speed limitations).
