Need protection.

My Norton Security subscription ran out and apparently my computer isn't protected from a growing thread of Trojan.peacomm whatever that means. Anyone able to suggest a program I can download that'll best protect me? Chars.

Avast works pretty well from my understanding (it's a frequent recommendation here, and I've begun to use it myself), but be forewarned that it'll conflict with McAfee if you're using it. For manual scans, I recommend Spybot: Search and Destroy. Both are free downloads; just run a search for them on Google or something and you should be able to find them easily.

Spybot isn't a virus checker. Moot point though, since Norton Internet Security contains adware-checking functionality that needs to be replaced by something else anyway.
