I've only seen a few episodes of this (the dub intro is almost enough to put me off of it. I said ALMOST) so I don't have much knowledge of the plot arcs of the series.

Anyone got any ideas?

True, there are a lot of guy sign-ups but I prefer that everyone only has one made-up character. If you want Outlaw, you could play a pre-existing female. ^_^ I like to try to keep in mind that there are girl NPCs... since Ino, Sakura, Hinata etc... are still existing. Plus gender won't be mattering... too much, hopefully.

I will probably start this RPG tonight or tomorrow, due to the fact that I am severly bored and want to. *whine whine*
But Chiko-sai and Chaos can LSU, since it will be easy to do that in this RPG.

As for your questions Prof... the timeline is the beginning of Naruto's first Arc. When they just graduate from the academy and are Genin. The first post or so will be the division of teams (which will be done by random drawing by moi) and then those teams will probably get a mission or two until I throw in a big event. Then the Chuunin exams will come... and then I get to throw in a slightly different story arc and such.

The RPG will follow many plots that Naruto has, but they might come in different orders and I might throw in some different plots as well. ^_^

... and it is a total coincidence... *scampers off*

I wanted to take Sakura as a pre-existing character at first, but decided I couldn't deal with the Sasuke-fangirling. Thankfully she stops the overt fangirling in Shippuden.

Well, the nice thing is that you could start out with the Sasuke-fangirling... but in this RPG, you could change that over time. We're not going totally with Naruto's plots or character building, since with new characters being thrown in it is likely to assume that it would affect some things. ^_^

I still think it works - your just angry scary as opposed to creepy scary! Of course, the team is lacking in the tracking and recon power that Team 8 does. Of course we make up for that with sheer versatility of the members of the team.

Anyone else catch the first episode of Shippuden? I just got the RAW for it and it's pretty good. Loved the little throwback to Team 7's first mission.

I do like the divisions of teams... and I'll be posting today a continuation of everything. (Those who haven't posted yet can still post what happens during the last "test" though... since I won't be commenting on what you guys do, as much as teh ending result. ^_^ I just am keeping things moving a bit.)

Also... I'm thinking of making a fandom flash, using our characters. (I hold the right to misdraw characters... 'cuz there are so many. >.<;;) I probably can't use everyone's right away, but I was thinking of showing blurbs of the teams and/or some individual blurbs. All to music!

I just bought a flash program yesturday and this is my first little flashy thing. It is really really short and crappy movement, but again... I just made it quickly last night. ^_^

Your flash is possibly one of the funniest things I've seen for a good long while. Plus it's pretty good for a first go (a lot better than I can do, since I am terrible at flash. Good at gifs, terrible at flash).

I never watched the dub ^^;; well, not the English one, the dub in my country is... Malay and very, very sucky. "English" kind of does have a better ring to it than "Japanese" though.

I am truly sorry if Onitoge looks too.. umm... sad. He was kind of hard to decide on a 'look' for. Inakumo's mask is partially based off Sweet Tooth's from Twisted Metal - may I mention here that I do actually have an irrational fear of clowns. xD

...you know what, I was thinking that you might now be able to pull off this crazy insane clown I have in my head.

In fact not only did you capture it, you've done it better than I could possibly imagine.

Okay, everyone, pay no attention to my description - that is what Inakamo looks like.

BTW - it was probably my bad description, but the mask actually does cover the side of the face the mask represents i.e. the mouth goes over the mouth, the eye over the etc. Looking back, it was a pretty lousy description. Think Two-Face from Batman: two completely different halves make up one full face.

So if he actually put the mask on properly, so it covered the right side of his face (left side from our perspective) then that's what he looks like with the mask on.

Also, Inakamo is intent on keeping that side of his face covered. I was going to reveal it later with a mark and an orange eye, but lo and behold you've actually guessed right. Wow.

EDIT Just realised my description said he had a mark on his eye anyway...I'm such a tool. But I meant a more...evil mark on the other eye (the eye he hides behind the mask). But anyway, still an awesome drawing.

OOH FOREBODING. That's right guys, Inakamo has a history...a dark one.

See... this is perfect, because the people who play Team 15 (Ushi/McNinja | Swordkill/Raizen | Duke/Masato) all go to my college.. (and there team, believe it or not... was totally randomized too. I was freaked out.) And we have this ongoing joke about Raizen and Ushi because in one of our nerdy Naruto RPGs... they had this same conflict. Heh... or similiar at least.

I just love it!! And the word bubbles and Masato's expression... brilliant!
I love all the others too! Everyone just is brought to life and this will really help with character developement. Chiyoko is kawaaaiii!!

With my fangirl obsession of Gaara... I noticed that you drew Onitoge to look like Gaara. *blinks at Onitoge* Now i'm torn.

It's not quite how I picture Onitoge's gi but beyond that it's fantastic. The thought hadn't occurred to me before but he does look a bit like Gaara. In fact there are.......NM....... mmmmmm..... foreshadowing......

Anyways, I pictured his gi as being a bit like Ken's from Street Fighter only much closer to the neckline. Beyond that I'd say you nailed him. Oh, one other thing for future drawings (of which I hope there are many as they are all fantastic so far) I neglected to mention in my description that there is a red shadow under Onitoge's eyes.

If you do intend to redraw him (if you do, that would be utterly awesome), can the half of the mask be on the same side as the long sleeve? Basically, both on the right side of his body, so if you drew him facing the viewer, it'd be the left (basically you have the sleeve on the correct side of the body and the mask is the correct half but it is placed on the wrong side of the face -_-;;), that way it'd be perfect. Oh yeah, the black mark and white cross need to go on the other eye too.

Damn, I feel I'm being too critical. Doesn't detract from the fact it is still an awesome image.

Also, I did imagine Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal when I was conceiving this character. Great minds think alike I suppose.

About the nicknames for Team 12 (Emo Kid Selekis, Goth Kid Shiro, and Emo Kid 2 Hiro) - those aren't MY opinions, a college friend of mine was watching me fiddle around with the image in Photoshop (with an evil grin on her face as she saw my slow-as-hell computer freeze twice, might I add) and made that remark based on my drawing xD;;; so the fault is my drawing and not anyone's characterization.

@Mystic: Seleki's description gave me the impression that he was a bishie xD;; so bishie you get! (eh.. feminine.. all bishies are feminine)

@Kalah: Onitoge looks like Gaara cos Onitoge's description reminds me of Gaara x3333 I used to be a Gaara fangirl, but jumped camp to Kiba and Kankurou (no, not together, LOL) after I saw their smexy double-teaming fight with Sakon-Ukon. As for the pens I use.. the one I used for all the team pictures was a waterproof/lightfast pigment pen. Like. I dunno. Artline, or UniPIN. I think in the US the equivalent would be Sakura Micron (?) And I cheated in Photoshop by yanking the Contrast slide all the way to the right. But for sketches I always use gel pens in very small sizes (0.5) because the scratchy, spontaneous lineart effect they give for much less effort than using a fountain pen and ink is wonderful. Just be careful not to smudge xD again, the preference for gellies is primarily mine, but I recommend you get one of those pigment ink pens - they're sort of like high-class felt-tips. But really, I'm sure you have at least one of them, I mean your Moswen lineart looks like you used one of those... like this one (http://www.uniball.com.sg/html/product_detail.php?pageNum_rec_prod_details=2&category=Fine%20Line%20Markers%20and%20Highlighter s)

@JT: When I read stuff like training gi I tend to be all 'whuh'? cos there's lots of types of training gis - but in my experience there's never been an RPer who's made a character that I was totally 100% sure of the looks for; I mean I know *I* don't think of footling details like "what kind of collar does that shirt have?" or "should I have a cuff like that thingy or that other thingy?" till I start drawing the character ^^;; if and when I redraw Onitoge I'm going to be asking you lots of stupid things like "exactly *what* kind of weighted cloak, ripped, mysteriously burnt at the ends or thinger?" LOL ^^;;

@Duke: Tell Kalah it's bad to be like me... you end up drawing all day and not posting.

@SDjinn: Nnnggg. I had Shiro down as the professional snarker type in my head, but my friend hadn't read any of the posts and was labeling him a goth kid based on my drawing.

The original idea came up during my semi-daily nag chat with PJBW when he suggested that whip + Kukai + Hige = Pet dog (I think) and I said leash + Kukai +Hige also = Pet dog and that his was the version to be used at night when no one was looking. It slipped out of my mind until later when I was trying to seriously post for Calamity's Edge.
...Well you can guess the rest xD;; shite picture, even more shite post. -_-;;
About the picture (leash version, whip version is not fit for general consumption xD): Hige's collar (read the sign-up description) is just so sensitively cute I had to make fun of it this way. Haru is probably the one who recorded this scene down for posterity with a camera (that's why he's not in the picture) and Ginmaru is somewhere laughing his furry silver butt off. The line is "Eranda no wa... watashi da mono/Because I'm the one who chose (that person)" from Week! by Do As Infinity.

@Mystic: Umm we passed the test to become official genin and all the rest is filler/character development. AFAIK Team 13 are having a great sense of bonding (and Inakamo gets an ominous nightmare), Hiro ripped some tendons, Shiro helps out Hiro, Ushi appears to move into Raizen's closet, Hige and Kukai are hissy-fit-ing at each other. Pretty much everything that's been posted :D

I'm getting ahead of myself here, but...

Team 14, maybe 7+ years later, drabble. Partially (okay, 75%) yanked from yet another chat with PJBW. HigexKukai, the f*ck buddy version the friends with benefits version. Which may or may not be used in the RPG depending on circumstances and/or plausibility of a happier, fluffier, more romantic relationship.

Surrounded by the white walls of the hospital room, the former Genin Team 14 is addressing a certain problem, as best as they know how. Kukai's sitting up in bed. Haru's clutching a clipboard, but he's a well-respected medic-nin now and there are less stories written on the pad attached to the clipboard as opposed to records of patients, living and dead. Hige's sprawled on an uncomfortable plastic chair, fidgeting.

Surprisingly, Haru is the first to speak. "So," he begins, clearing his throat, "um... do either of you have anything to say for yourselves?"

Hige blurts out: "We don't tell anyone."

Kukai is impossibly impassive, but there's a glint in her eye that indicates otherwise. She lays down her argument, disturbingly concise. "But that's lying."

Hige twitches. "Okay, so we only tell the ones who need to know."

"Yeah, like my husband and your Ayame-san."

This time Hige flinches as if he'd just been punched in the stomach by an irate Sakura.

Watching them carefully, Haru chokes down the sudden impulse to laugh out loud.

As a disclaimer before PJBW and I write battleposty, Haru's going to be getting slowly more confident and/or snarky, though he's still quiet - sort of like the guy who's rather quiet, but catches onto anything that's going on and is probably more perceptive than either one of his teammates.

I guess I will implement a warning to all- if you are inactive for two weeks, without warning me of your absense, I reserve the right to... ahem, terminate characters. This doesn't mean that if down the line you become active again you can't rejoin the RPG... it just means your charry is... umm... terminated, if I chose to do that.

I know that seems rather rough... but I think you guys understand. It helps me weed out inactive RPers while keeping plot lines going and offering me some useful plot movers.

Of course, people like Heald who have informed me of their absense a head of time are exempt from the 2 week rule. ^_^

-san:
* someone outside of the family
* someone not considered to be a close friend

-kun:
* mostly used towards males
* used by superiours to inferiours
* generaly used to male children

-chan:
* the female version of -kun

-sempai:
* eg: used by a younger student towards an older student.

-sensei:

* superiour

Hmm actually -chan may be used for males as well, but only for little kids; some little boys may not even like being addressed as -chan ie. Konohamaru. So you can use it to taunt people as well. (haha) -chan also denotes closeness to the person addressed.

Parents:
haha - (respectful) mother
okaa-san - mom, mommy
chichi - (respectful) father
otou-san - dad, daddy
oyajii - some tough guys use this to call their dad. Ref: Inuzuka Hige. Literally the japanese version of 'my old man'

Siblings:
Aneki - older sister, a bit formal I think

-tan - a child's mispronounciation of '-chan', kinda otakuish
*no suffix* - In Japan this would be considered really rude unless you are VERY close to the person addressed. Like, even closer than -chan. Very informal.
Kohai - this is a general term for underclassmen. No need to attach to the end of names; it's like a freshman would call a sophomore 'Aizawa-sempai' but the sophomore would refer to the freshman when introducing, "This is my kohai."

And, to finally try turning myself into a writer and not base every charachter i play on myself.....(thats right :gasp:) ill be using a brand new char! And its a girl! lol

Name: Leaf (im not good with Japanese style names so ill have a mysterious Pseudonym lol)
Gender: Female
Age: 13
Appearance: Long red hair tied back in a ponytail with a couple of bangs hanging at the front. Brown eyes. Average build but fairly tall for her age.
Wears an outfit very similar to Sakura however it is a pale yellow/orange colour with an Orange silk Scarf that flows out behind her. A matching sash is tied around her waist with her Leaf Villiage 'headband'.
Wears brown taping/knuckleguards up her forearms and matching taping just up past her ankle.
Personality: Bit of a loner when not required to be with others. Doesnt mind getting invloved with teamwork and will do all she can to aid her team. She does have low confidence, not in her abilities but more herself in general. Ie she trusts her abilities in combat however is very shy to talk to people in a social sense. Convincing herself that 'if someone wanted to talk to her, then they would talk to her first'.
Does have a stubborn habit of convincing herself she cant do something, giving up in that area and trying something else. Whether it be a training technique or a route somewhere.
History: Not an orphan as such, more that she was shunned by her family for reasons she wont go into. This is the reason for her name as her clan forbade her from using their name and thought it fitting that she now wanders 'as a leaf on the breeze' in the Villiage hidden within the Leaves.
Attended the Accademy to better herself. Refusing to be a no good bum.

Main Jutsu: Taijutsu though is capable with Ninjutsu also.
Special Abilities:
The usual speed and agility increases that most Tai Jutsu specialists have however her special technique is the opposite of this.
Stoneskin Jutsu: Allows her to channel her Chakra in such a way that it stifens and hardens her body. While immobile in this form nothing can break her skin including Kunai, Shuriken or Swords. Nor can she take injury from physical attacks. Indded most attackers not prepared for this Technique risk injuring themselves, expecting their momentum to take them through their target for a safe landing and suddenly finding that momentum stopped dead.
She Is very good at focusing her Chakra in her feet (Kakashi's tree climbing training and Naruto's water walking etc) and so this allows her to plant herself in place so she cannot be lifted or pushed around while immobile. She literally becomes an Immovable object however it can be very draining and at the moment can only be done with her full body.
She is trying to learn to focus this technique to turn it on and off without draining her too much or focusing it on a specific body part so she can counter attack more effectively.
Hobbies: An avid reader. She seems to read for the enjoyment of taking in the authors ideas, regardless of the subject. Shes been known to even read some of Kakashi Sensei's favourite books from time to time.
Relations: none
Other: Has absolutely no ability in Genjutsu. She cannot use them, nor does she have a good time evading them. If she realises she is under a Genjutsu she usually closes her eyes and just tries to shut it out.
Also has absolutely no ability with throwing weapons. She hasnt once managed to make a Kunai land point first. Usually clattering into its target on its side edge. Though at least it does hit target which is more than can be said for her Shuriken. has occaisionally experimented using a Bow however found it cumbersome when engaged in hand to hand combat.

Oh, and the actual battling part of the Chuunin Exams will be rolled at random. (If you guys want to know how it'll be...)
If your character faces a basic NPC, the NPC loses and you win automatically. No post really required.
If your character faces an advance NPC (Sasuke, Naruto, Rock Lee, Shikamaru) then you have to make a good post in the way you beat them or I might allow the NPC to beat you! BWHAA
If your character faces an elite NPC (Gaara) Then you auto-lose. Gomen. (There is one Sound Ninja girl who is an elite as well, but she'll be paired with an NPC and then be disqualified from battling. You'll see why. :3)

If you face another made character, then the two of you must post your battles and PM them to me. I then will grade them both based on creativity, grade and overall how it is written. (Like, is it interesting? Did you make your opponent look good too?) The one who is the winner will get the 'good to go' to post their version of the fight.

Who gets to be a Chuunin will be graded differently. I won't tell you how I grade it though, 'cuz then you might try to post to gear towards it! BWHAAA!

Well, If I remember correctly the rules were this

... hold on

1 - Every person starts with 10 points
2 - With every wrong answer you lose a point
3 - Everytime you are caught cheating, you lose 2 points

It's also a team event so if someone on your team gets caught 5 times then the entire team is DQ'ed. (suprised that no one posted teams getting DQ'ed) The tenth question is also not on the test, but will be asked 15 minutes before the end of the exam

As for the 5 day test... no offense, but I'm a huge Narutard so there won't be much that I'll miss. I purposefully put it at three days to speed things up. Unless you want to post for five days... but I'm assuming three is better. Besides, with so many teams I don't believe it to be too far fetched.


And Heald, yeah... battling NPCs here. You can choose any NPC you'd like to battle... or just make up your own. Doesn't matter. I plan for all teams to pass. It is the prelims that are gonna put all of you against eachother. ^_^

I have given myself the liberty of 'foreseeing' the winner- remember, basic NPCs are automatic wins for our characters. Non-basic NPCs are NOT automatic wins. I may be at the helm but this rpg is still your creation Kalah. I'm happy to see you post the Nain/Dosu fight. That makes one less fight I need to summarize in the in between fights/plot advancement posts I will be trying to take on.

Speaking of plot advancement, I would greatly appreciate if you could email me what plans you had for the rpg as well as forms for the three sound nin you created. I have some of my own story ideas for the rpg's advancement but I'd be happier holding to the originally intended plot. Plus, if we manage to hold on to more than 5 RPers it might help to have alternative plots for different shinobi squads to follow. All things are crystal clear proceeding through the Chuunin exams but after that the path becomes murkier.

So long as you're here and intend to stay with the rpg I don't see a problem with rearranging the order a little. If Kalah or Selekis' RPer wish to go ahead and post their respective battles first that's fine by me. My chief concern is maintaining some level of activity. I'm not expecting everyone to post two or three times a week. I'm just hoping we can manage two or three posts in the rpg in a week.

As for Soen's non-battle, I am working on a filler post to cover all of the npc battles as well as battles for RPers who did not return. If you want to post it yourself that is great. If not, I can include the result in my filler post. You might consider making an observation post of your teammates matches. Just something to stay active....

On a relevant subject, anyone who wants to move their match up in the order should post here asking. I know some people will want more time to get their battle posts ready than others so I don't see a problem changing up the order if the people ahead of you don't mind.

Aaaah, question! I know this is probably NOT going to get okayed, but it's just an idea - can Kukai's fight against Sakura be... verbal? as in, a debate.
..if anything, it would be totally in character.

You are certainly allowed to try to turn it into a debate between Kukai and Sakura but it is still a battle and someone still needs to be defeated (or mutually defeated). If your intention is for Kukai to win perhaps her clever debate skills lure Sakura off guard for her to deliver a telling blow? Or maybe, somehow beyond all reason and logic, Kukai could convince Sakura to surrender or vice versa.....? If you can think of a reasonable/realistic(well realistic to the Naruto universe at least) way to resolve a tournament fight whose results directly effect the career path of it's participants without actually fighting then by all means. I don't personally see how it could be done but if you can think of something I can't more power to you.

Sworkill: could I ask you to make a tiny edit to your post? Could you please not comment about horns on Onitoge. Everything else is perfectly fine, even the 'death glare'. The horns are something that wouldn't come out at this point in Onitoge's training unless he lost all control of himself, though.

If you are scheduled to fight an NPC other than Gaara or the two sound nin who withdraw or another PC you may absolutely post your battle whenever it is ready Shadow. If it's versus Gaara you unfortunately must lose. Versus one of the sound nin and you only get as far as the arena floor before they concede the match without fighting. Versus a fellow player..... both players have a chance to submit their posts here or via PM for a ruling on the winner or request a different matchup. Thankfully I haven't had time to write the NPC battles post yet so there's still time to request a change.

The RPG died out during the Preliminary Exams...if we allow people who already had existing characters who were taking part in the Prelims to advance to the final round, then we can restart the RPG from the beginning of the month in between the Prelims and the final round of the Chuunin exams. Anyone who wants to make a new character can, but they will be spectating, rather than taking part (although when the Sand/Sound invasion begins, there will be plenty of action).

I'm pretty fine with continuing from whichever time line you guys stopped at. I have pretty much watched and followed Naruto from the earlier parts until they decided to introduce the damn fillers.

But a few questions though,

1) Are we allowed to choose other ninjas from other village or do we have to stick to only Konoha?
2) Any restriction on the characters? Age? Powers? Ranks?

Well, when we began, everyone started off as a Genin who had graduated in the same year as Naruto. All were Konoha ninja, although not everyone was a native of Konoha. Therefore, all characters ought to be Konoha Genin. Not sure if anyone will be promoted after the exams. No restriction on powers, although obviously only at Genin level.

Looks like enough support to me. I really wasn't expecting that swift a reply from more than one or two people.

My idea is to pick up precisely where we left off. First let's take a tally here of who's around that wishes to revive their existing character. Everyone who's in for this post here with your character name and then the names of your present squad mates. Anyone who's prelim chuunin match hasn't happened yet can go ahead and post it if it was against an unimportant NPC. I'll post my own between tonight and Friday night. From there we'll get to the month of training for those who get to proceed and downtime for those that don't. We'll open the game to LSU's at that point and we can discuss here how to handle team reassignments based on player departures so we can phase out unused characters entirely or to NPC status in the case of more central characters like Chiyoko.

Anyone not in the next round but in the game I'll come around with a sensei post to give minor missions so they'll have things to do during the training period.

Dark-san:
1) I might be convinced to allow a character from another village after the conclusion of the Chuunin exam. One who is lent to Konoha to supplement their ranks and help rebuild after the attack. PM me your ideas.
2) Definitely younger characters. Preteen to teenager is acceptable. If you wanted to play an older more experienced and/or powerful shinobi you'd have to be willing for them to be more of a background character than one of the 'heroes' of the rpg. The spirit behind the rpg was everyone having characters that followed the path (or an alternate universe version thereof) of the main characters in the anime. Everyone is in the same league of power with the genin from the anime, which is to say more than exceptional for their age but still behind most older and more experienced ninja.
If you want to play something different PM me your ideas and we'll see if we can make it work.

I will do so. Give me the date or the expected start date. I will pm you most probably a week before this RPG starts. I missed out on the last one but taking into account the lack of teammates you have, although a little disappointing, I will be choosing a Konoha genin after all.

Another problem I see here is to know which team am I in. It would be best for my team or whoever I am paired up with to have my natural skills complementing theirs. ^.^;

Could I ask a favor for someone else to post the results thus far of the prelims (including my match which I just posted) and which matches still remain? I'm a little bust this weekend and won't have the time to go back through the last several posts to work this out. I would like to have this information quickly so I can make a post at the end of the weekend to wrap the prelims up if we aren't waiting on any other player battles.

Dark-san: the start date for a new sign-up depends entirely on the character you want to play. Just PM me a sign-up form (find one from the rpg topic and write your character over the 'sample' form). It could be as soon as we wrap up the prelims (which I'd like to do this weekend if possible) or as long as a few weeks. It really depends on what you want to play. As for teams, during the month of training most of us will be training individually so temporarily you'll be assigned to whomever isn't in the chuunin exam finale. After that the teams will be restructured. We'll talk about who will end up where once we have a clearer picture of where all the remaining characters will be after the chuunin exam concludes.

I'm fairly keen on staying with this RPG, but right now I'm concerned about whether I can post consistently. It depends on how fast you guys post. If it's at the current rate of every RPG except the Dragonball one, yea I can keep up I think since the only other RPG I'm in is the FF one.

I have tallied the Chuunin prelims. There are two matches left undecided after reviewing the posts and making judgment calls on the npc matches. Selekis vs Haru and Shiro vs Rock Lee. Are any of their RPers still present? If so, let us know. If none of them are still around and/or interested in this rpg then the results will be a mutual knockout for Selekis and Haru and a victory by Rock Lee. I want to give these three RPers time to check in but I also don't want to let the rpg stall out again before we can truly get it rolling by waiting. What is everyone's opinion on the matter?

Dark-san: I'd say edit out the part about him working for ANBU. Otherwise it is fine. ANBU is a bit too much for this age group, though. Afterall, only Itachi in the village's history was advanced enough at this age to work for ANBU. Everything else about it is fine, though, and with the edit you should feel free to start posting daily life for your character as soon as you want to. Maybe he can be on a D-rank mission or returning from a C-rank mission.
