Okay, here's the thing. I'm trying to figure out exactly what the White Flute and the Black Flute do. I know they say they attract and repel the encounter rate, respectively, but how exactly does that work?
For instance, consider the Black Flute. Does it make you immune to encounters for a certain number of steps? Does it lower the encounter rate by a certain percentage? Either way, can you chain the effect of the flute, lowering the percentages and/or increasing the number of steps?
I ask because I'm trying to quickly evolve Pokemon for my 'dex, and since I'm short on Rare Candies I'm seeking out powerful trainers who I've encountered before while taking steps for the Breeding Center. But when I use the Black Flute three times, take ten steps and enter a random battle... it's not very helpful. And I also need to catch a couple more Pokemon, so I'll need a boosted encounter rate soon. Hence why I need to know what they do.
