View Full Version : Dark Sage versus Weasel Overlord! (Ref: Elec Man EXE)

Dark Sage

That's right. I had a match with Weasel once that was cancelled because a ref backed out, and I want to try again.

Here are the rules, if Weasel accepts the challege (if she does or can not, this is an open challenge).

Pokemon: Four apiece, one out at a time.

DQ Time: One week.

Disallowed moves: Rest, Substitute, Destiny Bond, Perish Song, any direct status inflictors (no Toxic or Thunder Wave, Body Slam and Poison Fang are okay) and any direct healers (no Recover, Giga Drain is okay).

Other: We PM our first choice to the ref, so that there is no intentional type-trumping. The ref randomly decides who goes first.

Arena: Cactus Flats. This locale comes from my "Pokemonese" fanfic. It is a desert locale full of desert flora and large cacti, with a sandy surface. The wildlife consists mostly of pokemon who favor such areas.

So Weasel, up for the challenge?

Dark Sage vs Weasel Overlord
Round 0.5

Battle
The challenged trainer, Weasel Overlord, arrives in the desert environment to meet up with Dark Sage, who's already there. They nod to one another and then take their places opposite from the opponent, each having already selected a pokemon. Weasel is the first to act, and she tosses her pokemon out into the dusty field. The bright flash from the ball fades to reveal a large kangaroo-like creature, baby in her pouch. Quetzalxochitl looks around, while Dark Sage releases his own combatant. His ball releases a much smaller pokemon into the air. Letting out a squak, Bruce the Wingull hovers in the air, flapping his wings to stay afloat. Not quite the ocean, but at least its got sand. Pokemon eyeing each other, the trainers look toward the ref, who pulls out a coin and flips it high into the air, calling out "Sage heads, Overlord tails". Catching it, Elec Man reveals the coin on tails. Weasel nods, and both trainers start to formulate plans for Round 1.

Battle
Their pokemon revealed, the trainers take a few moments to consider the options, and then each one issues their commands for the starting round. Zalxo nods calmly, while a nervous Bruce gives a squak in reply to his trainer.

Barely moving, Zalxo closes her eyelids and lifts her head slightly, concentrating. Within a few moments, she opens her eyes, which glow with a shimmering white light. Starting at ground level, four shining lights appear and start to spin around the mother's body. As they rise, her skin starts to shine with a faint aura, which remains even after the star-like glows reach her head and disappear. Her eyes fade to normal and she smiles confidently. Meanwhile Bruce is already on the offensive. His beak is open, and within his mouth a pulsating orb of ice grows. Satisfied with the energy build, he cries out and fires an icy laser toward Kangaskhan. The jagged streak of frigid energy hits her chest, causing her to screw her eyes shut in discomfort. The ice is unable to take a hold on her body thanks to the protective barrier errected, but that does little to stop the sting of the chilly attack. She shoots an annoyed glare toward Bruce as the attack ceases. The seagull's face show's his uneasyness in fighting the much larger foe.

But even so, he's not about to just give up. Without hesitation, Wingull channels his energy outward, shaping it into an egg-shaped shield over his body as Quetzalxochitl's body starts to spark. The electrical current over the normal type's hide steadily increases, arcs growing in size and number. At the same time Bruce's shield becomes more and more sturdy, finally glimmering as it reaches full strength. Kangaskhan raises one arm, guiding the electrical current through her claws and toward her flying opponent. As the surging yellow bolt approaches, the seagull closes his eyes, as though preparing for a painful blow if the shield doesn't hold. But luckily for him, the barrier is strong enough, and even as the static bolt hits it and flows aggressively across it's surface, its integrity doesn't falter. The arc between Zalxo and Bruce is severed as the parent's built up energy runs out, and Bruce lets out a sigh of relief as the shield is released from his hold and vanishes.

Not letting the failure get to her, Zalxo takes a deep breath, and then grins at the water pokemon. She draws from her energy reserves, converting a portion into an icy power. Then, she puckers her lips and blows out a gust of frigid air. The cold wind whips over the sandy arena, though the heat warms it considerably even in the short time it takes to reach the Bruce. Now just a slightly-nippy wind, it blows over him, pushing him back as he flaps his small wings to keep his balance. It actually serves to cool him down a bit from the heat, rather than harm him, but the disruptive air pressure does cause some slight damage. Regaining his bearings, he swiftly flys toward Kangaskhan. As he approaches, his wings become coated in a shining metallic power, which stiffens them to a sturdy state. Zalxo tries to duck the blow, but Bruce catches her right in the cheek with his hardened appendage, knocking her head back and causing her to stumble. Catching herself, she raises one hand to her cheek, rubbing the bruise as Bruce soars by and turns about to face her again.

Now feeling more confident, Bruce steadily hovers in the air awaiting the next round's orders. Zalxo is feeling a bit embarrased at her performance, and still holds her injured cheek. Her body still glows faintly, evidence of the Safeguard's presence, as Round 1 draws to an end.

Battle
As Round 2 begins, neither trainer looks too comfortable. Dark Sage whipes a bead of sweat from his forehead while WO shields her eyes from the sun, but both still think of their commands. Each trainer yells their attack orders to the pokemon, and the two creatures nod carefully.

Starting the round off defensively, Bruce closes his eyes. With his mind focused, he pumps an extra dose of energy and adrenaline through his wing muscles. Wings limber and strengthened, his eyelids open and he makes a speedy loop in the air, experimenting with his boosted speed. Zalxo doesn't appear terribly impressed at his boosted speed, and stares intently toward him. Her pupils glow red, and then release conical crimson beams outward. The rays sweep over Bruce as the Kangaskhan looks toward him, disabling any illusory tricks the seagull might try in the near future. It has no immediete effect however, and Wingull doesn't take much notice as he pulls a speedy barrel roll. Blinking her eyes, the red glow disappears and Zalxo turns her attention to more painful actions.

But not before the speedy avian gets his own attack in. With a squak, Bruce charges toward his paternal opponent, static electricity forming on the down of his wings. Swiftly he flies over her head, and quickly turns around to face her again. With a strong flap of his wings, he sends the electrical charge toward Zalxo. She feels multiple stings as the small static bolts hit her back and surge through her. She grunts quietly, but fights off the pain and turns to face Bruce herself. Crouching down, she rips her claws deep into the sandy ground and starts pulling up stones of varied sizes. Subsequently they're hurled toward Bruce with considerable power. Using his boosted speed, the little Wingull is able to avoid the first few, but gets caught and stunned by a large rock and pummeled by the rest. He almost gets knocked to the ground, but recovers and flits back to the sky. Body and wings bruised, he lets out a long groan. Zalxo dusts the sand off her hands and grins, satisfied at her first truely successful attack.

Though he sustained some damage, Bruce is far from beaten. Taking a deep breath, he starts to build up chilly energy in his wide open beak. The cold power is a nice relief from the heat, and as the charge increases he almost wants to keep it for himself rather than blasting it over Zalxo. But the gull is resolved to win, and the thought passes quickly. As the snowy blast grows in Bruce's beak, Zalxo furrows her brow in concentration. Over her hide, a deep brown aura builds as she summons up an earthly control power. She raises her foot and is about to stomp the ground when Wingull releases his attack. A powerful torrent of freezing wind, chunks of ice and snow crystals blows from his maw and over the hot desert. As with Zalxo's attack, the scorching environment weakens the attack, melting some of the snow and warming the wind. But it still retains plenty of power, and Kangaskhan staggers and stumbles back as the powerful ice attack bowls over her. She cries out as pellets of ice smash into her skin and the chilling gale swirls over her body. But still glowing brown, she shakes off the cold as the attack dissipates, and quickly stomps her foot into the sand. Bruce, a bit tired from the powerful attack, hears the sand moving beneath him and looks down just in time to see a cluster of jagged rocks emerge. Even his speed doesn't help him as the sides of the tomb jut up, each one knocking him about. When the commotion ends, he finds himself encased within a dark stone prison.

Letting out a frightened cry, Bruce tries to figure out a way to escape this contraption. There are holes and cracks, but none big enough to get through. As he tries to free himself, Zalxo relaxes and lets the sun warm her, while waiting for her trainer.

Battle
The start of the 3rd Round looms, and only one of the combatants is visible. Dark Sage shouts his orders, hoping his pokemon can hear him within the rocky cage, while Weasel speaks softly to her large Kangaskhan. Zalxo turns her attention to the stone structure and nods.

Struggling but able to hear, Bruce grins and follows his orders. His energy force flows out through his wings, which he moves in such a way as to draw a half circle on either side of him. The glistening power curves around him, encasing him in an egg-shaped shield. Not knowing what the gull is up to, Zalxo faithfully follows her command, and takes a moment to focus. Body glowing with a rocky tone, she raises one large foot, and then stamps it down into the sand, subsequently kicking up a small cloud of dust. But more importantly, the shock summons more rocky pillars from beneath the earth, and they jut up forcefully toward Bruce. But as the stones slam against the shield, they're forced off track, and end up smashing through the ground outward rather than inward. They end up cracking against the already errected tomb, knocking the existing parts around and opening up a sizeable hole in the top. When the dust and debris clear, Wingull becomes visible, protected from harm by his translucent shield and now presented with an escape route. He releases the barrier and flutters upward while Zalxo moans.

Free from the strong tomb, Bruce doesn't waste any time pressing on the attack. He flits his wings rapidly back and forth, building up a static charge over them. Zalxo sees him preparing for an attack, and shuts her eyes tight. She concentrates, and moments later summons up a pair of illusory doubles beside her. All 3 let out a cry, perhaps to intimidate or perhaps to taunt. But either way, Wingull just grins to himself as the electricity gathers over his feathers. His wings are flapped forward toward the 3 Kangaskhan, sending a spread of thin yellow streaks through the air. The wide area of the attack ensures that each of the 3 large kangaroo mothers recieve part of the shock, and as the real Zalxo screws her eyes shut in discomfort the clones are destroyed as the sparks pass through them. Luckily for her, though, she recieved the smallest portion of the attack, and the damage is minimal. Her eyes open and dart toward the bird with annoyance, while he soars happily.

Getting just a bit tired of this little pest, Zalxo raises her hands, claws open and at the ready. She crouches down and digs them into the earth again, once more looking for boulders to use as projectiles against her seefaring opponent. She easily finds a supply of stones under the sand, and starts pitching them toward Bruce with conviction. His eyes widen as he sees the barrage of stones heading for him, and immedietly gets prepared to dodge. He soars around the flying rocks, spinning and soaring past the first few with skill. But as he feels his speed start to wane, one of them smashes his wing and knocks him off course. Zalxo seizes the chance and hurls the last few at him, catching him squarely in the beak with the first and hitting his back with the next. He falls to the ground, knocking up a haze of dust. Groaning, he lifts his head up and stares at Kangaskhan. A frigid energy builds throughout his body, and gathers between open beak. The swirling orb of cold energy grows, and then with a screech he unleashes the energy in a chilly beam. Jagged sections streak through the air, cutting around one another to form a concentrated blast. Zalxo shudders as the ice ray hits her shoulder, flowing into a single point and inflicting a sharp frosty sting to the mother. With the waning effectiveness of the protective layer, the ice manages to take hold and a ice builds up on her scaly shoulder. When the freezing attack ceases, the icy patch glimmers in the light of the hot sun.

Kangaskhan grunts as she struggles to move her arm, obsctructed by the icy buildup. The beating sun will quickly melt away the chilly stuff, but for the time being her right arm is difficult to move. Meanwhile a bruised Bruce takes flight again, cringing as he flaps his wings to stay airborne. The two trainers take the situation in, while planning their next move.

Battle
As the sun beats down on the desert sand, two combatants stand tall, pulling for victory. Each one gives their commands to the pokemon, and the two creatures each cry out in reply.

His trainer perhaps tired of the heat, and Bruce agreeing, the white seagull raises his head to the sky. A cerulean glow eminates from his body as he manipulates the weather, causing dark clouds to creep over the arena. As they roll in, Zalxo starts to work up and electrical charge across her body. Glowing arcs dance across her rough hide, gradually building in size and number. The rain starts to fall, lightly at first but picking up quickly as Bruce continues his plea for moisture. Kangaskhan grins, the weather effect benefitting her coming attack well. Her power charge increases until it reaches near critical levels, and she cries out as she unleashes the intense attack into the air. The massive yellow bolt juts upward, then curves back toward Wingull. Air crackling from the sheer intensity, the electrical current strikes Bruce fast and hard. The avian shrieks as the voltage cuts through his body with particular ease, viciously shocking every muscle. The circuit holds strong for a few moments, further paining the bird, and then cuts off as the power is exausted. A few stray sparks dance across Zalxo's skin before dispersing into the air, and she smiles, feeling a real sense of vindication. Bruce meanwhile struggles to keep airborne, and is twitching awkwardly.

With her opponent struggling with the after-effects of the charge, its a perfect time for Zalxo to strike again and further injure him. But she realizes that there's a bit of a flaw in her plan, as she searches for a suitable water source. Being a desert, water isn't exactly abundant, and the falling rain is no where near strong nor concentrated enough for an effective attack. Nonetheless Kangaskhan does try, her eyes shimmering blue as she tries to take control of even some bit of water. All she manages is a tiny explosion of water under Bruce, which doesn't even make it up to him. The mother lets out a loud growl of frustration as response to the failed attack. Bruce gets a good chuckle out of it as he shakes off the paralysis effects for the time being and starts to build an attack from his internal water resevoir, enhancing it with the falling rain. A perfect sphere of aquatic energy grows in his beak, and within the ball flow disrupting sonic waves. He looses the watery projectile at the disgruntled normal type. Zalxo gets hit square in the face with the orb, stumbling back as the cold water splashes over her and the sonic waves scramble her thoughts. Shortly she regains her footing and shakes off the temporary disorientation.

Now rather soggy, Zalxo mutters something about the bird showing off under her breath and waits for him to make another move. Her stance shifts into a defensive position as she readies herself for his upcoming attack. Bruce isn't about to back down just because of a little defensive manuever, and he rapidly beats his wings and flies toward his opponent at full speed. But no sooner does he start the attack than he feels a resurgance of the electrical pulses that grip his muscles. His wings lock up and he drifts downward into the damp sand, sliding through the dirt and coming to a stop a few feet from Kangaskhan. Zalxo rolls her eyes and lets out a pronounced sigh, almost disappointed that he didn't attack. Wingull lies there, beak half burried in the sand, twitching uncontrollably.

With a cool rain now falling over the arena, its become a much more pleasent arena for the battle. The trainers don't seem to care that they're getting wet, as its a nice change from the swealtering heat. While Zalxo stands, looking down at the grounded gull, she takes a moment to relax and enjoy the rain. Bruce recovers from his paralysis bout, but stays on the ground and spits the mud from his mouth.

Battle
Neither trainer is willing to concede a bit in this intense battle, and the pokemon don't look like they will either. The trainers issue their commands, and Round 5 starts quickly.

Taking the first action of the round, Zalxo steps toward, fist pulled back and ready to strike. Bruce struggles against his paralysis and flaps his wings frantically, as Kangaskhan thrusts her fist toward his face. He just manages to get airborne in time, and her hand flies by and slams into the ground. Mud flies up from the impact as the flying pokemon lifts himself high into the air and away from the potentially painful blow. He gives a relieved sigh as Zalxo winces slightly and shakes her hand. She turns her head skyward and shoots a glare at Bruce.

Muscles feeling loose, Wingull is ready to meet that annoyed glance with force. The bird circles around, gaining speed. He crows loudly as he starts to dive through the falling rain toward his normal-type opponent. Kangaskhan watches the quickly approaching bird, crouching down. As he nears, she digs her claws into the dampened soil (somewhat reluctantly), and flings a glob of it at Bruce. The mud hits him in the face, getting into his eyes and covering his white feathers. Squaking, he instantly starts to blink his eyes in hopes of removing the dirt, but keeps on flying. Making sure to keep on track the attack continues, and since it was already aimed at Zalxo he smashes into her. The mother steadies herself with her large tail and Bruce flies off, still blind and hoping he doesn't run into a cactus or something. Rubbing the bruise from the impact, Kangaskhan gets to her feet and watches the gull flutter off and then stop, back to her.

Smirking at the opportunity against her blind opponent, Zalxo proceeds to shove her hands into the dirt and locate some more rock ammunition. It takes a bit of searching, but she finds another store of them and pitches them toward a distracted Bruce. He hears a grunt from Zalxo and turns in that direction only to have a rock smash into him, followed in turn by at least 3 more. A couple knock him about, then one catches him and bears him painfully into the ground with a slosh. He screeches and starts to struggle, but paralysis kicks in again and leaves him smashed under the stone and a prime target for the last boulder, which lands on one wing and further pins him. Zalxo almost feels sorry for him, but her desire for victory surpasses those feelings.

With Round 5 drawing to a close, the trainers watch with anxiety. Bruce is pinned under a pair of boulders, blinded, and injured, while Zalxo seemingly stands in good shape. The rain falls all around, making the arena seem quite unlike a desert, and both trainers think about the next round's commands.

BTW, as the energy starts to get lower I'll mention my method for handling energy KO's.

When a pokemon first reaches 0% energy it is not considered a KO. Rather, the pokemon will spend 1 full round during which time all attacks and manuevers will generally less effective (slower, weaker) and will also take more damage due to immense fatigue. After a full round, the pokemon will recover and tap into it's "emergency reserve", regaining 25% energy. If the pokemon hits 0% again, its then considered a KO.

Getting a mischevious glint in her eye, Zalxo summons up her earthly manipulation powers once more. As a deep brown glow encircles her form, she raises one foot into the air. Bruce recognizes the gesture through slightly clouded vision and starts to frantically wiggle, trying to free himself from the restrictive boulders. But progress is slow going, as Kangaskhan slams her leg down into the wet ground. Wingull hears a rumbling beneath him, and then wet mud is hurled out of the way as a series of stone spires jut upward. The gull is knocked about by the rising tomb, and hewn in by the rocks as before. When the commotion halts, he again finds himself encased in a prison of stone. But the good news is that the attack at least freed him from the boulders that held him down, though it doesn't feel like much of a victory.

Again cut off from the outside world, Bruce has little choice but to wait and see what happens. The last of the mud is finally cleared from his eyes, and he looks around eagerly. Zalxo certainly isn't one to wait, on the other hand. Immedietly she calls on another power, this one less focused on rocks and more on pure earth-shaking violence. The resaulting glow is a light tan, and she roars as she leaps into the air. She brings down all her weight, slamming the ground and releasing a series of shockwaves that flow outward, causing the ground to buckle and shake. The shock moves swiftly, soon coming upon the cage of stone. The construct is quickly toppled by the disturbance, caving in on itself and further smashing against poor Bruce. He just manages to avoid getting crushed beneath as the walls tumble, and with a pained expression recovers to the air. Though badly bruised and tiring, he takes in a breath and gathers ice. Shortly the bird fires a glowing beam of blue that cuts through the air toward Zalxo. Instinctively, the mother raises her arms and shields the pouch just in time, and the frigid beam hits her crossed arms. The dampness of her skin is chilled as the cold cuts into her, and an icy buildup covers both arms, effectively locking them together. Kangaskhan grunts uncomfortably against the handcuffs of ice, while Bruce grins weakly.

Feeling increasing stress, Zalxo raises her head to the bird. Jaws open, a ball of flame grows in the back of her throat as she manipulates her energy into heat. As the fire reaches full strength she holds it, as though waiting for her opponent to do something. But Bruce isn't in any position to attack, as he feels another electrical-induced seizure coming on. He barely manages to lower himself to the ground as his muscles lock up, leaving him helpless on the ground. Seeing her opponent's vulnerability, the normal type blows out the fiery blast at him. The rain falls on the fire stream, turning to steam on impact and weakening the flames, but the attack rushes over Wingull regardless. The searing heat stings his body despite his affinity with water, and he screeches silently in his head while mustering only a weak whine. His feathers are a bit blackened when the onrush of flames ceases.

Fatigue ever increasing, Zalxo's breathing is labored and she breaths heavily, arms still bound by ice. Bruce shakes off the paralysis yet again and with a groan gets airborne again as the last of the rain falls. The clouds are already starting to dissipate, making way for the desert heat to return shortly, as the round draws to an end.

Battle
While the clouds overhead start to disappear, the trainers quickly shout their commands for the 7th Round of the battle. Each pokemon gives a slow nod, both starting to feel the effects of the battle in different ways.

Feeling rather exausted, the heavily breathing Kangaskhan calmly sits on the soaked ground, giving herself an opportunity to recover some of her energy. Bruce takes the opportunity and opens his beak, drawing forth a large amount of freezing energy from the recesses of his body. A ball of ice and snow grows in size, and after gathering an ample charge Bruce blows with all his might, sending a frigid mass of wind, ice, and sleet swirling toward a resting Zalxo. She screams as the biting gale rushes over her, subsequently pelting her with slivers of ice which cause stings of pain even though her body starts to go numb from the icy blast. A thin layer of frost manifests all across her damp body, leaving her looking a bit of a ghostly white. Wingull breathes heavily, not only needing to regain his breath but starting to feel quite fatigued himself.

And with that, he decides to take a bit of a break as well. He floats to the ground, folding his wings behind him and letting the now exposed sun wash over him. Now feeling a bit more energized, Zalxo shakes the bits of ice from her head as she gets to her feet with a grunt. She takes in a deep breath and then blows out her own chilly blast, though its comprised entirely of cold air and not of ice and such. Nonetheless, Bruce shivers and moans as it whips over his aching body. He feels numbness setting in, losing feeling in his wings and all across his downy body. Kangaskhan slowly closes her mouth, still feeling quite tired despite her rest.

But even though both pokemon are tired, neither is willing to give up this battle. With resolve, Bruce spreads his wings and carefully takes to the air, fighting against the numbness. With a loud squak, he starts to charge full speed toward the normal type, or at least as fast as his chilled muscles will take him. In the meantime, Zalxo concentrates and static starts to build across her hide. Sparks dance over her, and she releases the charge somewhat awkwardly from her chest, since her arms are still immobilized by the ice. The small jolts of electricity pelt the rushing avian, each one causing him to grunt in pain but not stopping his determined charge. Even as electric streaks cut through his muscles and surge across his body, Bruce crashes full force into the mother. The immense force causes Zalxo to stagger back with a loud yelp and nearly fall, but she manages to steady herself with her tail. Bruce recoils back off the large pokemon, wincing from the strain of the impact. The normal type bears a large bruise at the point of impact, but Wingull didn't come out of the attack undamaged either.

After recovering from the recoil of the attack, Bruce groans and struggles to keep airborne, still cringing in pain. The stress on his body is quickly reaching critical levels, and fatigue is taking a heavy toll as well. Zalxo's body is holding up better, but the round has been quite rough on her as well, and she gasps for breath while the sun warms the arena again, melting all of the frost from her body and starting to thaw her arms.

Battle
With the sun shining brightly on the desert, all parties take a moment to just enjoy it after the storm. But it doesn't take too long before the trainers turn their attention back to the battle, and yell their commands to the weakening pokemon in turn.

Really feeling the effects of battle, Bruce struggles to keep airborne as he opens his slender beak. Water is drawn into an orb between either half of his open mouth, starting as a marble and quickly gaining mass. Kangaskhan starts to prepare her own attack, becomming enshrouded with a cloud of electricity which creates a crackling noise around her. Wingull's sphere of aquatic energy is filled with sonic waves just before he fires the projectile straight at Zalxo. The ball speeds toward her, and just before it slams into the mother she unleashes the bolt. Cold water splashes over her and the sonic pulses reverberate through her body. Even as the normal type gets hit, the bright electrical bolt cuts through the sky and hits Bruce. He shrieks, lightning pulsing through and around him aggressively. As the attack ends and the last few sparks arc over his white feathers, his body starts to shut down. Overwhelmed by the damage sustained, he loses conciousness and his eyes close, leaving him to fall limp to the ground.

Though she defeated her opponent, Zalxo doesn't celebrate, as she suffers from intense fatigue and also feels disoriented from the gull's final attack. Her arms are finally melted enough from the sunlight and are freed, and she holds her head and gasps for breath. Dark Sage pulls out Bruce's pokeball and recalls the bird, clipping it back to his belt and thinking about which to use next.

Battle
With the first pokemon succumbing to the strains of battle and the opponent not far behind, Dark Sage lifts up a second pokeball and chucks it into the arena. The resaulting flash of light fades to reveal a ripped fighting type, who flexes his strong arms. Zalxo pants and looks wearily at the muscular pokemon as her trainer gives her attack commands for the round. Dark Sage does the same for Atlas, and the two face off for the first, and perhaps last, time.

Hoping to use her disadvantage to perform a dangerous attack, Zalxo grits her teeth. She is able to clear her mind as she rushes at the fresh opponent, arms drawn back. Drawing strength from her pain, she hurls herself toward Machoke with all of her might. But Atlas isn't worried, and he calmly lifts his hands and channels his chi outward. Within seconds, a shimmering sphere curls around the fighter, hardening to an impenetrable shield. The kangaroo smashes into the shield with a crash, subsequently bouncing off and staggering back. Her legs wobble as she gasps for breath, and then she falls to her knees. Feeling utterly drained, she weakly glances up at Atlas as his barrier fades away to leave him unharmed. He grins back, knowing he's on top.

Ready to go in for the knockout, Atlas makes a single leap and lands beside the exausted normal type. The edge of his hand glows with chi energy as he raises it up near his head. With a shout, he chops down on Zalxo, dealing a solid blow to the back of her head. She shudders and cries out, head already swimming with confusion, yet fights to stay concious even after the powerful strike. Atlas draws his fist back and looks down on her, somewhat suprised that she managed to withstand his attack. Even more suprising, Zalxo struggles to her feet, still feeling utterly drained but not willing to just lie there. Lifting her arm, she attempts to engulf it with a mass of chi, but with her exaustion coupled with her jumbled mind make it relatively impossible. So she simply throws her fist into Atlas' gut weakly. The superpower pokemon lets out a grunt, more stunned than anything, but does take some minor damage from the strike.

Annoyance fueling resolve to take his opponent out, Atlas glares at Zalxo as he takes her still-extended arm firmly in his grasp. Gripping the appendage with both arms, he rears back and starts to spin in place, still holding onto Kangaskhan. She wimpers as she is lifted up into the air like a sack of potatos, spinning faster and faster as the fighter keeps her arm held tight. The swirling certainly doesn't help her confusion, and she hardly knows whats happening as Machoke releases his grip and sends the mother hurtling through the air. Atlas follows her flight with his head, watching with anticipation as she smashes hard into the rough sand. A quick, loud cry is heard as she impacts, and then silence as a cloud of dust bellows up around her. The dust clears to leave Zalxo lying still, outright knocked out by the toss.

Atlas raises his hands and gives a victory cry, as Weasel enlarges the fallen pokemon's pokeball and draws her back into the capsule. She whispers something and then returns it to her belt, deciding what to use to best combat the superpower pokemon she's now faced with.

Battle
Having already returned her first fallen pokemon, Weasel Overlord snatches up her second pokeball and lets it fly into the sand. The device cracks open and releases a burst of light, which takes the shape of a large dinosaur with wings spread wide. The light fades to reveal magestic female Tropius, who stands tall in the sun and looks toward her opponent. Weasel gives her orders to the beast, while Dark Sage gives his own orders to the chiseled fighter. The two nod and face one another in the first of many rounds.

Neither pokemon hesitating for a moment, Machoke takes a deep breath as Arith raises her head to the sky and starts to flap her leafy wings. While a glowing flame starts to build up in Atlas' throat, his fruit-laden opponent lifts her body off the ground and ascends into the air. She steadily rises to a good height, and then starts to soar about the sky in an evasive manor, keeping her eye towards Machoke on the ground. Head turning to follow the flyer, the superpower pokemon blows with all his might, spewing a searing current of fire. But Arith keeps flying on, weaving through the air with ease. She keeps ahead of the glowing streak of flame, which soon dwindles as the energy Atlas built up runs dry. Raising his fist, he shakes it toward the flying pokemon, who now slows herself and flutters still in above the desert.

For a few moments Arith flaps her wings slowly just to keep airborne. Then she pulls them back behind her body and holds them there for a moment. Their leafy texture gains an energized sheen, a shimmering glow of sky blue. Powerfully, she thrusts them forward, almost touching them together. The motion fires off a blade of air, thin as a needle and nearly invisible as it cuts through the air on its course with Machoke. And indeed, he doesn't even see it coming, but he certainly feels it. The burst of air slashes into his pecs, causing him to stagger back and grunt loudly. His chest stings, and he rubs it with his hand to find a thin streak of blood in his palm. Atlas looks up toward the airborne dinosaur, fist covered with an aura. Quickly he kneels down and touches his fist to the ground, sending pulses through the earth to draw up rocks. A rumble is heard under the sand, and then an array of rocks burst through. But much to Machoke's dismay, the rocks only reach 7 feet or so into the air, no where near high enough to hit Tropius. Increasingly annoyed, Atlas mumbles something about how the annoying dinosaur thinks its so smart.

And Tropius does indeed feel quite good about how she's done so far. But seeing Atlas take another long breath, the grass type airs on the side of caution. She shuts her eyes, concentrating and summoning up a set of clones. Beside her a pair of identical Tropius appear, and the trio then open their eyes and smile, feeling relatively safe. On the ground, Atlas has already started gathering fire energy from the depths of his body, and flames are swirling between his jaws. He roars and blasts a second red hot bolt of flame, which speeds toward the left-most Arith. Even with the scorching attack fast approaching the fruit pokemon don't appear worried, and in fact smile as the heated streak cuts right through the targetted grass type. The illusion flickers and fades away, the column of fire flying off harmlessly into the sky just as the first. Now getting seriously peeved, Atlas growls and slams a fist into his open palm. Arith and the remaining double wave down at him playfully, which doesn't help his anger any.

With the round drawing to a close, Arith escapes unharmed and is feeling great. Her opponent's eyes burn with hatred, and he just wants to smash the grass type. The trainers look on while thinking of the next round and what they should command the pokemon to do.

Battle
With the 11th Round looming, the trainers don't even hesitate for a moment as they give their orders loudly and with confidence.

With the same confidence and quickness as her trainer, Arith looks down at the muscular pokemon and draws her 4 leaf wings back. They shimmer with an airy glow, as do her clone's. The energy of the sky builds around the leaves, while Atlas draws in a breath. A burning energy builds deep in his throat, a flame alighting and growing in size quickly. Before he can amass sufficient fire energy, Tropius gives one strong wing flap and sends a thin burst of air downward at the superpower pokemon. Again he's hard pressed to see the attack, but Machoke does spot it just before it hits him and instinctively raises his arm. The wind blade smashes against him, feeling more like a sword strike than air. A slow trickle of blood seeps from the wound, which runs nearly the entire length of his arm. He clenches his teeth in pain, as fire curls out between them. After a moment his eyes shoot open, showing his anger. And with a roar, Atlas blows out a hot stream of fiery rage. Arith's confidence is replaced by fear, seeing the flaming blast heading straight for her. The burst of fire scores a direct hit, and a cry eminates from her mouth as she feels the heat scorching her body. Concentration ruined, the clone is lost and vanishes, but Artih is more focused on the searing pain than the loss of her illusion. The flames soon dissipate, however, and Atlas finally feels some form of vindication watching charred grass type cringe.

Though hurt, Tropius isn't about to let the superpower pokemon get away with frying her unpunished. For only a moment, all 4 of her leafy wings shimmer with a rainbow of color, and she rapidly flutters them back and forth. The motion releases a vast number of small, energy-laden leaves, all of which are sent flying down toward Arith's opponent. The attack is swift, and Atlas quickly finds himself being bombed by a shroud of plant projectiles. They don't cause any visible damage, but the energy around them resaults in a sting with impact. Shaking his head, Machoke swats away the last few leaves still floating about him and takes the deepest breath he can muster. A fire is again lit between his jaws, though this time the energy is much more focused and forms a concentrated but large sphere. He gives a shout and blasts the fiery orb at Tropius, who tries to soar out of the way but is taken by suprise as the ball explodes halfway to her. A flaming kanji is formed by the blast, and subsequently hits Arith. All at once she is overtaken by the swirling flurry of flames, and feels them crawl painfully over her. Even after the attack subsides, she feels an aggressive burn that continues to bite at her skin.

Eyes still screwed shut with pain, Arith shakes her head and tries her best to block out the sting. From within her plant-like core, she draws a single seed to her mouth. Machoke watches as she spews the large seed down at him. Raising one hand, he channels out a large amount of energy, which curls downward in a spherical manner. Within moments he's completely encased in a hardened energy shell, an effective defense. The seed smashes against the shell and bounces harmlessly with a clunk. It comes to rest in the sand at the fighter's feet. The shield shatters and disperses into the air as Atlas releases it, and then he pulls back his foot and kicks the seed away nonchalantly. Tropius growls under her breath.

With the heat of the desert having returned to its fullest, Arith certainly isn't happy to have the sunlight beating down on the burn she has sustained. Her wings ache, also burned, but she faithfully keeps airborne. Atlas is feeling much better as the round draws to a close, finally having gotten a few hits in, though his arm and chest still sting a bit.

Battle
Here in the desert, the two trainers battle it out fiercely. They don't take long before they give their orders, each to their respective pokemon. The superpower pokemon and fruit dinosaur each give cries in reply, then turn their attention to one another.

Taking a cue from his trainer and Arith's previous actions, Machoke shuts his eyes. Deepening his concentration, he summons up the powers of illusion control. 2 more Machoke seemingly split from Atlas, masking which is the real one and turning the odds into the fighters' favor. The 3 open their eyes and flex toward Arith, trying to make her feel threatened. But she feels just the opposite, and grins back as she starts to beat her leaf wings rapidly. Despite the pain she endures from the burn, the action blows a strong wind downward, and it swiftly howls over the sandy arena. The strong gust blows over the 3 Machoke, each one bracing himself by digging his heels into the sand. Though powerful, the wind can't topple Atlas or his illusory companions. Arith watches the 3, expecting something to happen to some of them, but nothing does. She sighs as her wing flaps slow down to a calm rate to simply keep herself airborne, doing her best to ignore the constant sting of the burns.

Still boasting a bit of protection, Atlas is ready to go on the offensive now. But that bothersome plant is still high above the arena, and well out of the reach of melee attacks. He contemplates whether he can jump high enough to strike, but concludes that he may not be able to, and even if he did he'd end up falling afterwards. So instead Machoke simply stands calm, letting his body recoup some of its expended energy, the clones still mimicing his movement. Arith has no problem continuing her attacks, however. She runs through a quick "eeny meeny" routine and picks the left-most Machoke, then pulls her wings back. They start to shimmer with a familiar shine of flying energy, and a second later she sharply thrusts the leafy appendages forward. A thin, sharp streak of faint blue is fired downward, straight at her intended target. Atlas keeps resting, not paying attention to his opponent. The whispy blade smashes the Machoke, and cuts completely through it, not just into it. The real Atlas and his remaining clone snap their heads to the side as they hear a scrape hit the ground, but already the double has been disrupted and is gone. A splatter of sand flies outward and then falls back to earth around a perfect gash in the desert ground. Atlas glances back up at his opponent, and she hisses in frustration.

Atlas is a bit frustrated himself, though. That thing is still way to high for him to hit. Reluctantly, he stands idle again, unable to do anything but wait for an opportunity to strike. Unfortunately for him, Tropius has no intention of giving him that chance. The leafy dinosaur again draws her wings strongly behind, gathering up wind energy over them. This time Arith picks the one on the right, and grits her teeth in discomfort as she sends her spear of wind flying at her target. Atlas seems a bit more worried this time, but he gets caught by the sharp burst in the arm as he tries to leap out of the way. He lands hard in the sand, and lets out a loud grunt. His arm stings from the cut delivered by the wind, and he pushes down on the wound with his other arm. Cringing, he looks to the side with squinted eyes and finds his other clone has vanished, understandable with the pain disrupting his concentration. Arith grins, ignorant of the pain for a moment and feeling accomplished with her succesful attack.

But the grass type soon becomes aware again of the constant sting of the burns. Keeping herself airborne is agitating her charred wings and causing her increased strain. Atlas meanwhile still holds his arm, but is more annoyed at the way the fight's going than the pain. He wants to smash his fist into that things head so badly... The trainers think how to best combat one another, as the round draws to an end.

Battle
The desert heat is starting to get to the trainers again. But regarldless, they issue their attacks to each of their pokemon, neither willing to lose the battle on account of a little heat. Each pokemon gives a cry, reply to their trainers for the orders.

Arith, still pained by her burns, is plenty happy when her trainer orders her to land and rest her aching wings. But she needs to make a diversion for her approach. So she bears the pain and flaps her wings, releasing a bevy of glowing, sharpened leaves created of pure energy. The shower of green projectiles is launched downward at Machoke, while Arith starts to dive to the sand below, still releasing more plants. Atlas sees his chance and starts to run toward her, but gets stopped by the onslaught of greenery. Even with his best efforts, the leaves form almost a river, pushing against him and keeping him from approaching. His body gets slashed all over, each leaf causing only a tiny cut but the sheer volume inflicting serious wounds over his body. The onrush finally subsides, Tropius having safely landed but drained a good portion of her grass energy with the attack. Atlas takes a moment to recoup from the pain, then stomps on toward the dinosaur with conviction and rage. Reaching Tropius, he leads off his attack with a quick right jab. From there, he smashes into her with an assortment of punches and kicks, fighting prowess showing through in his combination of strikes. He ends with a knee to the gut, which causes her to slide back in the sand while kicking up a cloud of the stuff. The attack leaves Machoke feeling a bit numb and vulnerable, but he feels great having finally pummeled that leafy beast. A bruised Arith gasps and shakes her head, happy to have landed but now aching.

Knowing that she's now in Machoke's ideal range, Arith figures she ought to prepare a little something for defense. Shutting her eyes, she concentrates on her surroundings, and specifically the space right beside her. With a bit of illusory power, her body splits, creating a pair of clones and making 3 Tropius in total. She immedietly feels safer, but the feeling doesn't last long. Opening her eyes, the grass type sees her opponent's jaws wide, flames already starting to mass between his teeth. The heated energy swirls around in his mouth, enlarging as more energy flows. The ball grows to quite an impressive size before Atlas pulls his head back, then thrust it forward and blasts the fiery blast straight for the opponent in the center of the trio. It doesn't get far before it bursts, rushing flames taking a star-like shape. The blast covers the middle Tropius, but it vanishes as soon as the fire comes into contact with it. It seems that the real Arith and her remaining clone are safe, but the "arms" of the conflagration lash against both. One of course disappears, while the true Arith cries out as the searing heat whips across her body. The majority of the attack passes her by harmlessly, but what did hit was plenty to cause her to squeel with pain. Atlas closes his mouth and focuses on Arith, who still cringes.

Trooper that she is, Tropius doesn't allow the pain to deter her for long. She fights off the sting of both the heated attack and the persisting burn, raising one foot up into the air. The raised appendage is surrounded by an earthy glow, Arith summoning a terrakinetic power for the attack. Without hesitation, she slams her foot down into the ground, releasing a series of seismic waves that rush through the earth. Sand is flung up as the ground shakes violently, tossing Machoke about with it. He tries to stand firm, but is overwhelmed and gets tossed to the ground, where he further tumbles about by the buckling of the desert. Battered, Atlas places his palms on the ground and pushes himself to his feet as the quake subsides, and immedietly goes back on the offense. Using the pain he just endured to fuel himself, his entire arm becomes engulfed in chi. Arith steps back nervously, and within moments Machoke lunges forward. His fist is smashed into Arith's chest, causing her to gasp and grit her teeth as she again skids back through the sand. The resaulting cloud covers her, but sinks back to the earth quickly to reveal her cringing in pain, with a single impressive bruise dead center on her body. Atlas' pulls his outstretched fist back and smiles. Revenge feels oh so good.

The round was a painful one for either pokemon. Atlas' gray body is adorned with scrapes and is covered in dust and bruises, while Arith has a her own bruises over her chest in addition to the biting burn. With the battle getting especially intense, the trainers take special care as they think about the next round.

Battle
With Round 14 looming, both trainers think only a moment before skillfully yelling their orders. Both strong pokemon give a nod, each one doing all they can to secure victory.

Neither pokemon starting with an active offense, both close their eyelids in careful concentration. Arith spreads her sore wings wide, giving herself the largest area to absorb the sun's rays. She lets her body do what it does naturally, plant cells drawing in the solar energy. Her leafy parts seem to enlarge as they collect light and start to glow, and the extra charge to her own internal energy gives her a greater aptitude for attacks using such power. Even while Tropius us bathing in the sunlight, Atlas has his mind on concealing himself. And to do so, he summons up a duo of strong clones which seem to split off from his own muscular body. Now a small group rather than a single pokemon, Atlas and his buddies open their eyes and seem ready for action. Arith looks just as ready, and the two stare one another down.

It's Atlas who breaks the stare, opening his jaws to prepare for a heated blast of energy. He's only just started to draw up heat from the depths of his body when he notices Arith rear up, getting ready for her own attack. One that his trainer told him that he needed specifically to avoid. With some reluctance, he abandons the thought of frying the plant, and instead outstretches his arms. A faint humming accompanies the powerful energy that cascades from Machoke's open palms, shaping into a spherical barrier that effectively encases him. The clones each mimic his movements, also becomming guarded by their own fields. When Tropius bashes her forelegs into the earth, Atlas doesn't even flinch. Though seismic activity spikes and causes the desert ground to rumble and crack violently, each of the fighters is protected. All of the force from the quake gets blocked by the energy field, and though Machoke grits his teeth as he holds the shield up, he feels none of the seismic disturbance. The quake subsides soon after, and Atlas exhales as he allows the shield to disappear. One would think Arith would be rather frustrated, but instead she seems content with the strategy, though even knowing the plan it is a tad disheartening to have an attack fail.

Both pokemon are starting to show signs of fatigue, but Atlas in particular seems drained from that shield. Still, he takes a deep breath and a small flame ignites in his throat, quickly growing in size. But yet again he finds himself needing to defend rather than attack, as Tropius gets on her hind legs and focuses her terrakinetic power once more. With a deal more difficulty this time, he once again holds his palms out and forces a mass of energy outward from them, flames already extinguished within his maw. As before, Machoke and both his clones are each encased in egg-shaped barriers in hopes that they can protect themselves from a second earthquake. The shields are hardened just in time, and Arith again furrows her brow as she smashes her legs into the sand. Earth roaring and buckling as tectonic waves radiate outward from the grass type, Machoke struggles to hold the shield. Through sheer force of will the fighter manages to maintain his protection, even as the very earth beneath him tremors. The shaking stops, and the ground bears quite a few cracks from the attack, yet Atlas managed to remain unharmed. Arith looks a bit suprised as the superpower pokemon drops his shield, still physically fit. He drops his arms to his side and lets out a tired gasp, the sucessive barriers having taken a heavy toll on his energy level.

With neither pokemon having sustained any physical blows during the round, the only damage comes from Arith's burns, which continuously stung throughout the round. The leafy dinosaur does her best to fight the sting, but can't help letting out a wimper as she waits for her trainer. Atlas stands beside his two clones, which also managed to survive the round, and he too waits. Hopefully for a chance to crush his foe.

Battle
Keeping the pace of the battle, each trainer is quick to issue a new set of commands. Opposite one another, the tree dinosaur and muscular fighter give grunts in reply, wanting nothing more than to defeat their opponent.

Feeling up to getting out of combat range now, Tropius unfurls her elegant wings and beats them up and down. She lifts off the ground and rises steadily upward, doing her darndest to ignore the burning that accompanies the motion. While Arith flutters into the sky, Atlas turns his attention away from her. Breathing labored, he kneels down in the warm sand, forgetting about the battle at hand if only for a moment. The 2 clones, still present, do the same. His body utilizes the much needed break, recovering a bit of his expended energy. With his eyes closed, he almost looks peaceful.

But that doesn't last very long. Machoke still wants to win, and now feeling a bit less tired, he lifts himself back to his feet. The superpower pokemon raises his head to the sky, shielding his eyes against the sun. High above, Arith grits her teeth and pulls her wings back. Energy gathers like a sky-colored membrane across her leaves, appearing slightly more radiant than before. Atlas is quite familiar with this attack, and instinctively raises both arms to block the attack. With a cry, Tropius thrusts her wings forward, flinging a small burst of air with each wing, each combining to create a single thin blade of wind. It swiftly cuts through the sky down toward one of the opposing Machoke, as Arith hopes she chose the correct target. But she frowns as the vacuum blast slashes right through the fighter and carves a scar in the ground. Without lowering his arms, Atlas takes in a breath and prepares for a counterattack, mouth glowing as a flame ignites between his jaws. Tropius gets no hint of whats to come until her opponent whips his arms to either side and blows out a searing blast of fire, clone doing the same. She tries to flutter out of the way, but gets overcome by the dual burning streaks too fast. Crimson flames lick at her body, curling around her like a warm embrace, albeit a bit too warm for her liking. She screeches, but it does little to ease the pain, and her eyes are screwed shut even as the flames dwindle. Atlas grins as the last bit of fire leaves his mouth.

Though blackened, Arith isn't going to just take the attack lying down. With determination, the fruit pokemon draws back her wings for a second attack, letting the energy pool over them. Her glowing leaves are thrown forward a second time, unleashing a powerful schimtar of energy. The disturbance of air juts through the sky and bears itself into Atlas, this time hitting the real thing. A thin gash immedietly appears across Machoke's chest, and he staggers back while roaring with pain. The clone beside him flickers and vanishes, and a few drops of blood trickle down his muscular body. His determination matches that of Tropius though, and without hesitation he begins to draw up heat from within. This yeilds a sizable flame that flickers in his throat, and as he puckers his lips the fighter spews a second fiery stream. Tropius, eyes widening, takes the blast dead on, skin stinging wildly as flames assault her. She very nearly succumbs to the pain and falls a bit, before coming to her senses and catching herself. Body sooty and fried, she gets back her composure and keeps airborne, despite the pain.

Atlas seems a bit dejected that she's still flying, but he knows she's weakening. He holds one arm over his fresh wound and waits, while Arith lets out a yelp as the burn continues to plague her like Jack Thompson plagues video games.

Battle
Under the heat of the sun, both pokemon continue the tough fight. One is clearly nearing her breaking point, but even so she resolves to fight till the end. Trainers issue their commands, pokemon cry out in reply, and Round 15 begins.

Fluttering weakly in the clouds, Tropius forces the pain out of her mind and sets her sights on the muscular opponent below. She lowers her neck, tucks in her wings, and starts to dive straight toward the fighter. Speed picking up quickly, she's soon leaving a rippling disturbance in the sky behind her while she hurtles toward the earth at blazing speed. Machoke is left with little time to think, and barely raises his guard before Arith crashes into him with impressive force. The fighter gets bashed to the ground, kicking up a large cloud of dust as Arith spreads her wings and barely misses hitting the ground herself. She slows down and lands a few yards away, gasping for breath. A loud grunt is heard from within the dust cloud as Atlas slowly gets to his feet, gritting his teeth. The cloud clears and stretches his arms out and inhales deeply. A searing flame orb amasses between his open jaws, quickly gaining strength as energy is drawn from his core. His leafy opponent turns her head to glance toward him, just in time to see him expel the spirallying fire ball at her backside. The blast flies swift, exploding into the intimidating burning star shape signiture of the attack. Weary and worn, Arith has little chance to avoid. A piercing cry resounds as she feels the superheated shape smash against her body. The torching energy rushes over her body, and before it even finishes the pain becomes unbearable. Her legs wobble a bit, then she outright collapses to the ground.

With most of her body blackened by repeated fiery attacks, she truly looks like a pokemon who just fought an intense battle. Weasel Overlord nods as she brings the grass type's pokeball back out to recall her. Meanwhile Atlas grins, but even through his triumph his exaustion is really starting to show, leaving him gasping for breath.

With Atlas wounded but still standing, Weasel Overlord shuffles through her pokeballs and pulls out one more. Enlarging it, she tosses the capsule forward onto the cracked ground. The white flash lights up the sand, and an agile and dark-skinned weasel emerges. The creature, named Sirius Black, flicks his ears and scrapes his claws against one another as he stares at the dirty fighter. His glance shifts to his trainer as she gives her commands, and both Sneasel and Machoke cry out in reply.

Knowing that he's nearing exaustion one way or another, Atlas gets ready to strike with one final attack. While Sirius seemingly waits for his opponent, the strong Machoke lifts his scarred arms, crossing them in front of his chest. Without hesitation, he starts to jog toward his fresh opponent. Arms held firmly in position, Atlas nears his opponent and lunges, roaring loudly. Just as the fighter's muscle-bound arms snap downward, Sirius' eyes glint, and in mere moments a darkness swirls around his body. Just like that, Sneasel is gone, and Atlas's arms strike at thin air. He lands and skids across the sand, breathing heavily. As he turns his head about, looking for a sign of his vanishing opponent, he lets out an exausted grunt. Sirius, body hidden from sight by the darkness, silently creeps up behind his foe. The weasel screeches as he reappears in midair and smashes into the back of Machoke's head. Though not very strong, the suprise alone is enough to knock Atlas off balance. He stumbles forward, but catches himself before falling. Turning, the fighter watches the nimble Sneasel land firmly in the sand.

Sirius doesn't let up there, however. Seizing the opportunity to end this fight right now, he dashes full-speed at Machoke. Crouching for a moment, Sneasel hurls himself up into the air, reaching peak height and flipping to reallign himself with the wounded and exausted superpower pokemon. One long-clawed paw extends toward Atlas, and the rest of the weasel's limbs are pulled in as he hurtles downward. A faint blue energy surrounds the extended weapon, which Sirius thrusts swiftly into Machoke's chest. Thanks to heavy fatigue and increasing pain, the attack knocks Atlas clear off his feet, and he crys out as he falls on his back in the gritty sand. Sneasel lands perfectly beside the fallen pokemon and watches as his looks up with a blank stare on his face. He tries to hold on, to keep fighting, but the damage to his body is too immense, even for him. His eyes close, and Sirius looks up at his trainer with pride.

With the fall of his second pokemon, Dark Sage draws up Atlas' pokeball and recalls him back to the device, to fight another day once he's recovered. The trainer shuffles through his remaining pokeballs, deciding which to choose for his third combatant, while Sirius walks back over to his trainer and waits with anticipation.

With a grin, Dark Sage's grip falls firmly upon a new pokeball. He pulls his arm back and chucks the red and white sphere to the ground. It cracks open and releases a pulse of light, which quickly shrinks to the form of a small lizard, with a steady flame alight on its tail. The Charmander stretches while looking eagerly towards Sirius. The weasel stands ready, and gives a quick nod as his trainer issues commands for the round.

Wasting no time taking advantage of an obvious weakness, Sirius raises his head to the heavens. A glow of blue eminates from his body as he calls on the clouds, which immedietly rush over the arena, blocking out the sun. As a clap of thunder rumbles, Blast cringes, knowing whats coming, but even still rushes toward his occupied enemy. One hand is pulled back as he lets out a growl, leaping toward Sneasel. With a swift motion, Blast swings his hand down in a display of fighting prowess. He strikes Sirius directly in the shoulder, causing the dark type to yelp loudly and step back, arm shooting up to hold the injury. The pain shoots through his arm, but comfort comes in the form of the rain that begins to wash over the sand. Steam hisses into the air as the moisture hits Blast's burning tail, and the fiery lizard groans with distaste. This is not how he wanted to fight...

But the fire type isn't about to be deterred so easily. He turns his glance back to Sirius, who is holding his hands up as though beckoning some torrential attack. And indeed, thats exactly what Sneasel intends to do. That is, summon up a wave to crash down on the foe. But much like his predecessor many rounds ago, Sirius finds that summoning up a mass of water, even with the rain falling, is a futile effort when fighting in a desert. With eyes shimmering blue, the weasel tries in vain to draw up even a bit of moisture for an attack. Blast isn't sure what his foe is up to, but he's not about to let curiosity get the best of him. Again he raises his hand up, but this time energy is focused through his claws, and they shimmer with a metallic aura as they become hard as steel. While Sirius still struggles, Charmander dashes forward, and rakes iron claws all the way across the ice pokemon's chest. The painful sting of the nails cutting into him instantly snaps Sirius out of his water manipulation, and makes him cry out with agony. Long claw marks visible across his body, Sneasel looks with anger at Blaze, who pulls his arm back as the metal coating fades from his paw.

A bit annoyed at sustaining multiple attacks without being able to fight back, Sirius makes a quick effort to fix that little problem. Not unlike Blast's attack, the lithe pokemon focuses a strong amount of metal energy, but on his feathery tail. Each of the pink feathers darkens and shimmers, all becomming heavy and quite hard. With one agile leap, Sirius flies over Charmander's head, flipping his body and cracking his steel-laden tail into the back of the fire type's skull. The power of the attack knocks Blast to his knees, forcing him to grit his teeth to keep from shouting. Sirius lands on all fours in the dampened sand, his tail regaining its normal texture. Fending of a sharp sting in the back of his head, Charmander leaps to his feet and swirls around, nails pulsing with an aura of energy, mystical in nature. Just as Sneasel stands, he feels the painful sting of the lizard's claws slashing at his back. Even after the quick swipe is completed, small amounts of the dragonic power, a mixture of green and pink energy almost like fire, flicker as they cling to the wound. Soon enough the mystic flames disappear as they enter Sirius' body, leaving the weasel to groan and wince. Turning to face the fire type, the two lock gazes.

Neither pokemon break the stare, though Charmander shifts uncomfortably in the rain. Both intent on winning, the trainers stand tall in the downpoor and think about the next round, paying little attention to getting soaked.

Okay, Blast, you're off to a good start.

First, use Sunny Day to end this downpour.

Then, what you do next, make that depend on what your opponent does.

If it tries to change the weather again, first use Focus Punch, and then use Dragon Rage.

If it does not try to change the weather again, first use Fire Fang, and then use an old-fashioned Flamethrower.

Okay Sirius! Use Hail! Since you're changing the weather, we don't have to put up with those nasty fire attacks. Then use a Faint Attack to smack him while he's focusing. Finish up with an Avalanche after he's used his Dragon Rage! Bury that lizard in a nice big pile of snow, mwahaha.

~Hail ~Faint Attack (distract the Focus Punch) ~Avalanche (wait til you've been hit by the Rage)

I'll be gone for a good while on vacation. Check the Absence Tower for more details.

Anyway, I've made a request in the reffing tower for a sub-ref in the meantime. Hopefully something turns up, I'd hate to leave you two hanging for so long, even if I haven't exactly been active lately. If the battle isn't finished, I'll pick it back up when I get back.
