Hey guys, I'm ready to make my ASB debut!

This will be a one vs. one battle. I'll send my choice first, and then the challenger attacks. DQ time of 1 week.

As for an arena... I've looked at some of the stadium choices, and I'm not sure I'm ready for such complicated stages o.O How about just a large open field of grass, with a small, deep pond in the middle.

EDIT: Thanks Crazy Elf Boy for being my first challenge, and thank you Elec Man EXE for reffing! Let the games begin! Elf, I've already sent out my first choice- my female, Absol. Your choice, and your move to attack.

I'll start by using My Trapinch Seraph

OK Seraph use dig to dive under the ground then come up and use Crunch and to finish it off using sandstorm.

It's on :)

Start off strong by pumping your offense with Swords Dance. Make Trapinch pay for hitting you by giving him a strong Counter (or Magic Coat, if the Crunch attack is actually a special attack and not physical.) Lastly... he's using Sandstorm, aye? Guess that's pretty smart for a ground type. Let him feel the burn of his own attack by adding in your own Icy Wind into the mix of the Sandstorm.

Magic Coat is for status effects... Mirror Coat is for special attacks. But Crunch is physical anyhow, so its irrelevant, just FYI :).

Battle
The battle begins as two new trainers enter the area. They shake hands, and then take their places at either end. Aide clutches his first pokeball and hurls it into the grass. The orb releases a bright flash, which takes the shape of a 4 legged creature and then fades away. A lovely female Absol stands there and lets out a cry, swinging her scythe about. The psychotic one with pointy ears hurls his own pokeball, his revealing a much smaller Trapinch. The ant lion, named Seraph, snaps his massive jaws threateningly at his dark opponent and waits for his trainer's orders. Each of the two give their first commands, and their first battle gets underway.

Getting herself prepared, Absol raises her head to the sky, closing her eyes. Her body starts to spin rapidly, coming to look less like a pokemon and more like a cyclone. While she rotates and powers up, Seraph turns his attention to the earth. He adeptly scrapes his small legs through the dirt, shoving it aside and quickly tunneling his way down until he's completely out of sight. When Asbol comes to a halt, mind focused and attack strengthened, she finds that her opponent is nowhere to be seen. She looks around, vainly attempting to locate the ground type, hole hidden from view by the grass.

Even as she searches, the ant tunnels his way forward, sensing Absol's slight movements through the soil. He makes his way below her, and then starts to rapidly make his way to the surface. As he rises, dark energy encircles his teeth, crackling around his jaws like black lightning. Absol hears a rumbling from below and quickly prepares, turning her attention to the ground just as Seraph bursts from the dirt, leaping up with his jaws spread wide. Swinging her scythe about, Absol blocks the attack with it, and feels a sting as the bug's sharp teeth sink into the blade. She cringes, but then whips her head downward, slamming Trapinch hard into the ground. The blow causes him to release his grip and cry out, and Absol lifts her head and whines a little, having still sustained some damage from the attack. Seraph groans as he gets back to his feet, darkness fading from his mouth.

Though foiled, the ground type isn't done yet. He stamps his feet, body enshrouded by a yellow glow. The wind kicks up around the arena, and strengthens until it becomes strong enough to pick up the dirt and dust from the ground. Swirling around the arena, the light storm of debris whips across Absol and Seraph, but the ant lion's tough hide protects him from the storm. The dark type feels some minor discomfort. But she smiles, plan in mind. She takes in a deep breath, taps into her inner reserves, and then blows out a frigid wind over Trapinch. The gale picks up some of the swirling debris, adding some frosty particles to the mix. He shivers as the biting gust flows over his body, causing his skin to go numb with cold. When Absol's breath runs out, Seraph stumbles forward a bit, feeling in his limbs numbed and aching from frost bite.

The dusty wind summoned by Seraph continues to howl through the grassy plains, rushing dirt over Absol's body and causing small wounds. But she feels otherwise quite good as she looks at the shivering Trapinch, still feeling physically focused. The trainers cover their eyes against the storm and think about the second round entusiastically.

Great job, Absol! We're doing well, keep it up.

Prepare a Future Sight for later use. Get lost in the Sandstorm with Quick Attack; you should be running in the same direction as the sandstorm's winds. This is to hopefully keep yourself from getting hit by Trapinch. Finally, end the round with a strong Endure of whatever might be coming your way, including the sandstorm.

Battle
Each of the pokemon is in good form even for their first battles, neither making the fight an easy feat for the other. Both trainers issue their second commands, and the pair of monsters nod.

To start off the round, Absol does her best to ignore the bothersome sandstorm and glances into the future. Her eyes take on a pinkish glow as she plants a psionic charge at the precise moment when Seraph will be most vulnerable. As her vision returns to seeing the present, she notices the little psuedo-bug sporting a golden glow through the swirling debris. He lets out a shout and leaps up into the air, then brings all his weight down as he crashes into the ground. Powers of terrakinesis assist the attack and cause a series of shock waves which radiate outward through the ground. The earth shakes and buckles, and Absol is thrown to the ground painfully. She cries out as she gets tossed about by the violent quake. The disturbance finally passes and the dark type groans, getting to her feet carefully.

Absol takes a moment to study the wind patterns, but unfortunately the storm is more of a swirling wind then simply going in a single direction. She shrugs and shoots a glance toward Trapinch, and with that harnesses her speed and starts to dash away from him. Seraph has no intention of letting her get away so easily, and calls upon his powers of stone control. He stamps one stubby foot to the ground, and Absol hears a rumble ahead before a rocky spire juts out of the earth. Her speed allows her to circle around the obstruction with ease, and she runs safely off as a few more spires tear out of the ground in the same place, creating a cage of stone. Seraph lets off a loud growl as he sees the his canine enemy running unhindered by his trap. Sensing that she's more or less safe, Absol slows herself and turns back to her opponent, having put a considerable distance between herself and the antlion.

Feeling the continuing bite of the sandstorm, Absol is ready to brace herself against it and any other incoming attacks. Her stance widens and she crouches down, ready for anything coming her way. But little Seraph doesn't intend to go on the offensive. Instead, he walks a bit closer to Absol, and then winks at her while seducing her with corny pickup lines about how her eyes are more beautiful than a Sableye's and such. With a bit of psyche manipulation, Trapinch manages to get Absol under his spell. She looks at him with loving admiration, and he grins back to her while lauging evily to himself. Even with the sand stinging her body, Absol is focused on her new love completely.

With the dark type transfixed by her opponent, the battle seems to have taken a strange turn. The trainers keep their eyes covered against the sand, each thinking about the next round in different ways.

Battle
With Absol feeling the love, her trainer appeals to her mood and instructs her with some gentle instructions. Meanwhile Crazy Elf Boy intends to take full advantage of the situation with an all-out assault, and Seraph nods confidently.

While Absol stares at her new love, the little insect turns his attention towards the sun. Bit of a problem, though... though not all that dense, the Sandstorm is doing a pretty good job of blocking access to the solar body. Seraph starts to gather light anyway, a tiny point of light forming between his open jaws and gradually growing in size. As the ground type tries to drawn in the sun, Absol heeds her orders and disappears, body enshrouded by darkness. She trots around Seraph, but not wanting to attack him, simply exits the plane of shadows and reappears. Attention formerly on the sun, Seraph looks back down to find his opponent gone. Having drawn in all the light he can manage throught he storm, he searches for a target, unaware that the dark type is right behind him. Suddenly, the air ripples before Trapinch, and his eyes widen as a psionic blast radiates outward, knocking him off his feet. He cringes as he's blown back, losing control of his gathered solar energy. The light rushes outward in no particular direction as the antlion comes to a stop on his back.

Seeing her beloved struggling to right himself on the ground, Absol yelps and immedietly rushes to his side, glancing down at him. She carefully opens her mouth, and grabs a hold of one of his squirming feet. Lifting him from the ground, the dark type starts to look for a way out of the storm. Seraph struggles against her gentle but solid grip, wriggling with all his might. But Absol is determined to bring the earthen pokemon to safety, and she doesn't dare drop him. Without access to the ground, Seraph can't even hope to create the quake he's been ordered, and keeps on trying to free himself in vain.

Not seeing any specific escape route, Absol simply crouches down and dashes full speed forward, hoping to reach the end of the swirling sand mass. Seraph is still firmly held in her mouth, and even now keeps on struggling. The sand encircles most of the arena, but lucky for Absol the wind is starting to abate. As the storm dies down, the disaster pokemon smiles and slows. When she stops, she gently lowers Seraph to the ground, carefully placing him upright in the soft grass. He growls with annoyance at her, much to her dismay, but she figures maybe she just bit down too hard or something. Now back on solid earth, the ground type doesn't waste any time, and his eyes glow a sandy color. Trapinch's gaze shifts to just under Absol, and the soil starts to slowly turn. The dirt quickly picks up speed, becomming a swirling pit which draws Absol downward. As she feels the spin pulling her downward, swirling sand scraping her feet painfully, she looks toward Seraph with an absolutely hurt expression, wondering how her love could do this to her. And with those feelings, she is freed from the seduction, and suddenly realizes that this is a battle, not a date. She tries to pull her legs free from the vortex, but they're already down too deep, and she continues to sink into the earth, wincing. When the soil finally comes to a stop, she's her legs are completely submerged, and she's rather thoroughly stuck.

As Seraph's eyes fade back to normal, he gets a death glare from his former lover that would make even a Snorlax nervous. He turns toward his trainer, trying his best to ignore the evil stare, and waits for the next round.

Battle
As Absol struggles and growls, trapped in the ground, her trainer issues orders for the round, as too does a hesitant Seraph's trainer. The two nod, and Round 4 begins.

To start off the round, Absol closes her eyes and taps into her malletspace account. From within this mystical realm, she creates a cute doll that looks quite similar to her but much smaller. The replica drops to the ground right in front of her, and she reaches out her scythe to touch it. She pours a massive amount of her own life energy into this double, and a mental block gets placed into Seraph's head which fools him into believing this is the real Absol. He wonders how "Absol" managed to get out of the hole so fast, but shrugs and crouches down. His earthly powers are summoned up as he leaps up as high as he can (not very thanks to his short legs) and smashes back to the ground. The earth rumbles and buckles, seismic waves rushing outward from Seraph. The Absol doll is hurled into the air only to tumble back down, an unfortunately the real Absol feels the violent quake as well. She shakes with the earth, buckling crushing her legs under the ground but also holding her in place. The sub holds up, but is now lying on its head. Seraph knows that something wierd is going on, but he can't put his finger on it.

Despite his odd feeling, Trapinch goes on without giving it too much thought. He draws forth the natural chemicals from his body, combining them in his large jaws to form a nasty, acidic concoction. Meanwhile Absol whips her scythe around furiously, cutting at the dirt on either side of her legs. The attack isn't particularly effective at moving the dirt, but thanks to the ground being disturbed by the prior quake she's able to free herself, and struggles out of the trap and onto solid ground. Still invisible thanks to the substitute's mental effect, she lets out a satisfied sigh. Seraph opens his jaws and spits his toxin liquid at the sub Absol, and it splatters over the doll. It naturally has very little effect given that its an inanimate object, and the purple gunk drips harmlessly to the ground. Now Trapinch is really getting suspicious, but that pesky mental block prevents the realization of whats going on.

Enjoying the relative safety granted by her doll, Absol's eyes shimmer as she again gazes into the future. She places a little present for her unsuspecting foe, and smiles as her sight returns to the present time, where she sees Seraph ambling toward her sub. Jaws glowing green, the antlion chomps on the doll's leg and starts to draw in it's life energy. Colorful beads are pulled from the sub into his body. Absol can barely keep from laughing at the sight of the bug clamped onto the doll. After sucking out a good bit, Trapinch steps back and feels slightly rejuvinated. There's still something funny about his opponent, but he was able to recover his power regardless.

Even though he suspects something, Seraph waits with happiness for the next round. Absol can tell the doll is getting weaker, and she herself is also considerably drained by making it, but still remains confident.

Battle
With the beginning of Round 5, it seems that some real progress has been made in the battle. The trainers shout another series of commands to respective companions, and each turns to their trainer and nods. Trapinch and Absol turn back to one another and the 5th gets underway.

In a brave attempt to anger the ground type, Absol starts to shout out any number of biting insults toward Seraph. His head perks up and his eyes slit as the infuriating dark type starts ragging on how his big fat head is too large for his teeny tiny body (cookie for anyone who gets the reference). This isn't just a friendly battle any more, this is personal. He lets out a roar as he hops up into the air, familiar sandy glow covering his limbs. Absol recognizes the attack and panics, looking for any way to avoid the incoming attack and knowing her clone can't protect her. She makes a split second decision and jumps on top of the sub as Seraph slams into the ground. The terrain shakes violently, cracking and shifting as seismic pulses rush through earth. Absol holds her ground atop Mount Substitute, letting the doll take the brunt of the attack. But the clone isn't able to sustain itself through the attack, and it falls apart, dropping the disaster pokemon to the quaking ground. She's knocked off her feet and slams into the grass, but the shaking subsides soon after. With the destruction, Trapinch becomes suddenly aware of what just happened, but he's so infuriated that he doesn't even care as he breathes heavily in rage.

Slowly getting to her feet, Absol lets out a groan, but focuses her mind back to defense, doing her best to ignore the pain. Knowing that she can expect an attack from the angry antlion, she closes her eyes. The dark beast conjures up a pair of illusory clones, which shimmer into view on either side of her. Under normal circumstances Seraph might be nervous faced with 3 powerful pokemon, but all thats on his mind is revenge. A sandstorm isn't quite aggressive enough, he thinks, and so he plods his way toward the closest Absol with rage in his eyes. His wide jaws spring open as he lunges forward, and slams them shut on the leg of his target. He catches a bunch of air in his devilish grip, and the illusion vanishes as Trapinch's teeth go through it harmlessly. Even as the Absol vanishes before his eyes, he sees a flash of light before him as a blast of psychic energy rushes at him. He shrieks as the psionic explosion throws him back in a burst of purple light. As he gets back to his feet, Seraph grunts in frustration, but he has come to his senses and is no longer under the effects of the Taunt.

Considering her orders for the third attack, Absol seems a bit confused. She needs to witness the attack and study it in order to be able to use it, but Trapinch seems to have no intention of performing it again. Regardless, she waits patiently, hoping he'll use it after all. But indeed the little bug doesn't plan on using it, and rather he approaches a disturbed patch of dirt. Not exactly mud, but it'll do. He looks up, but even thinking rationally he doesn't know which of the 2 confused looking Absol is the real target. Shrugging, he scrapes one forleg through the dirt and slings it at one of the dark types. Luck is on his side, and as Absol waits she gets a smattering of dirt right in the face. Suprised, she staggers back and paws at her face instinctively, trying to clear the soil from her eyes. No longer concentrating, the remaining clone disappears as the real Absol is left alone and blinded. Deciding to use same attack though she already knows it, Absol rips a clump of dirt up with her sharp claws and hurls it blindly forward. Her aim is poor without her vision however, and it falls harmlessly to the ground a good distance from Seraph, who chuckles.

Absol takes her opponent's laughter as a sign that may have missed, but she only gives a short sigh before lifting her paw back up and trying to clear out her burning eyes. Trapinch stands tall, feeling great and very much in control of this battle. His trainer feels much the same, but neither Aide nor her pokemon are ready to give up quite yet.

Battle
As Absol continues to try and clear her vision, her trainer gives her orders and she listens even as she paws her eyes. Seraph's trainer gives his orders and the little bug nods with confidence.

Knowing that she can't aim a real attack, Absol decides the best course of action is to try and piss the little bugger off again. And she does just that, as she starts to hurl a variety of cruel and tasteless insults the ground type's way. Even having heard a similar spiel before, Seraph can't help but become a bit angry with the dark type. The audacity to insult him, even when he's doing so well in this battle. He'll show her. Eyes lighting up, Trapinch hops into the air, quickly crashing back down with all his might. The ground is again thrown into a mighty quake, and the shuddering earth hurls Absol off her feet and slamming into the ground hard. She is bounced around by the ripples in the terrain, and when it finally subsides she lies on the ground cringing and wimpering. You'd think that would appease Seraph, but he still looks quite angry.

Injuries starting to wear on her, Absol gets up and prepares another defensive measure. Again she summons up a pair of clones, hoping that they'll defend her as they did previously. Once more faced with a trio of threatening though injured Absol, Seraph growls with anger. His opponent is toying with him, and right after taunting him. Aggressively, he tears his leg through the dirt, sending a clump of soil flying straight at the center Absol. Instinctively, the 3 disaster pokemon brace themselves, but the dirt meets with no substance and passes straight through the bruised dark type. It flies on and scatters as it hits the ground, and the Absol double vanishes without a trace. Even in missing, Seraph suddenly feels his anger wane. Absol and her clone paw at their face again, and finally manage to clear their vision.

Relieved to finally be able to see, Absol decides its best to take a little break. She plops herself down on the ground and closes her eyes, letting her body recover a bit from the fatigue of fighting. Her clone sits beside her. ensuring a bit of protection even while she relaxes. But Seraph isn't about to wait as she takes her rest. Raising his head to the sky, he summons up the whipping winds over the arena once more. The gale howls over the ground, picking up dust and soil and blowing it along. Soon the air is thick with dust, and as it swirls over the arena Absol she moans. The dirt scrapes over her hide, doing miniscule damage, but enough that her clone is cut into and disappears. Opening her eyes, she finds nothing at her side, and squints her eyes through the storm to see Seraph looking at her smuggly.

With visibilty substancially lower than the last storm thanks to the dirt being much more exposed by repeated earthquakes, neither pokemon can see their opponent very well. The trainers, too, struggle to see the pokemon as they cover their eyes, but still think about the next round as the battle draws nearer to its end.

This is going to be awfully close, Absol!

You've been through earthquake loads of times, Absol, you should know the best way to avoid the tremors by now... use Endure so that it causes the least possible damage. Next, if you opponent manages to find you in the sandstorm, hit him with a Mud-Slap. And finally, don't let him give up attacking- throw another Taunt his way after you blind him.

Battle
The battle is nearing its end, and both trainers can sense it. They issue their commands with confidence nonetheless, and both combatants give confident nods as they turn back to face each other. Sand blows across the arena, and you can almost hear western music setting the stage for the faceoff.

In preperation of her opponents planned attack, Absol widens her stance, spreading her paws in such a way that she can best withstand the quake. Seraph pays little notice, seeing victory close at hand. He focuses his earthly energy around his feet as he jumps upward in the familiar motion. Coming back down, he sends a series of powerful shockwaves through the dirt, causing yet another high magnitude quake to tear at the arena. The powerful seismic disturbance rushes outward, quickly making its way below Absol. She grimaces as she struggles to keep her footing through the quake, but the disaster pokemon does indeed manage to withstand the shaking earth and keep her footing. The violent rumbling dies down, and both pokemon sigh in unison. Seraph out of annoyance but Absol with relief.

Even through the sand, Absol does indeed manage to locate the little insect that is so keen on her defeat. In a single swift motion, the dark type scrapes her paw through the dirt, scooping up a clump of it and batting it toward the earthbound antlion. But to her dismay, Seraphs body suddenly glimmers with shadows, and then vanishes from sight. The small dirt projectile spatters aimlessly onto the grass as Seraph creeps up upon the Absol silently, taking his time as she twists her head, looking for him. The sneaky Trapinch soon slinks around to Absols backside, and then reappears from the shadows as he lunges toward her. Still encircled by remnants of the darkness, he crashes into her rear. She stumbles forward as she utters a suprised yelp. Turning, she finds Seraph there grinning at her wickedly and growls, still not willing to give up.

Noticing the little ground type starting to breathe more heavily, Absol puts into play her strategy to tire him out by keeping him on the offensive. Once more, she starts issuing all manor if insults toward Seraph. Even going so far as to say that the bug is just to weak to defeat her, the disaster pokemon is quite successful at pissing Trapinch off. The antlion has seriously had just about enough of this bothersome dark type and her put downs. He's certainly no weakling, and he intends to prove it. Once more he draws from the power of the earth itself and leaps up into the air. With all his anger and might he crashes down again, and the earth buckles and churns. This time she's not nearly as prepared, and Absol is thrown to the ground. She yelps and cries out, but still the terrain lurches. Even as the quake subsides, she lies on the ground, whining and cringing in pain. Trapinch still feels outraged, and glares down on her with statisfaction at her pain.

Even after enduring the attacks of the round, Absol fights the pain and starts to stand. But having been weakened so severely, the still-raging sandstorm scraping against her body proves to be more than she can endure. She falls back down to the ground, and looks at her trainer apologetically before her eyes close and lets her mind drift into unconciousness. Seeing his opponent fallen, Seraph feels his rage disappear and gives a happy cry, walking to his trainer. As the victorious pokemon celebrates with his trainer, Aide lets the red beam return the fallen dark type to a good rest inside of her pokeball.
