Kingdom Hearts: Hearts and Souls

The world in which you live, humans seek and long for a higher plane of existence; one in which they are pure of heart and have lost the soul that prevents them from this higher form of living. Due to this, the heart is seen as the most important part of the human body, its maintenance has become a high priority in everyday society and much research has taken place into how it can become pure.

Three years ago, Scientists finally discovered the answer; Kingdom Hearts. The head Scientist became so fixated on the fact that Kingdom Hearts was entirely made of pure, untouched hearts, that he was willing to give his own heart to it in hope that his would also become pure. The result, however, wasn’t exactly what he expected. His body changed, he felt stronger, his eyes became red and he became surrounded by a dark aura. Although he was now made entirely of his heart, he called himself Heartless as he had given his heart to Kingdom Hearts.

However, there was a downside to his discovery. He had also created a creature that he called a Nobody; a humanoid figure that lacked a heart which was the remains of a human that had turned into a heartless.

As his findings became public, the number of Heartless and Nobodies steadily grew. Humans and Heartless believe that the hearts contained in Kingdom Hearts should be released so that they may become the people that they once were whereas the Nobodies strive to find a way in which they can free and use these hearts to make them a whole person again.

A select few of the population gained Keyblades; to the Humans and Heartless, they were seen as a gift from Kingdom Hearts as a way to destroy the Nobodies that plagued the world. These Keyblades give the wielder the ability to use magic as well as being a defensive weapon. However, as Human Keybladers turned into Heartless, the Nobodies created from this process also possessed a Keyblade. The number of Nobodies in the population has decreased as the Humans and Heartless hunt and destroy them, with only a few Nobodies able to defend themselves with Keyblades.

The battle for Kingdom Hearts continues to this day; Human Keybladers must decide if becoming Heartless is the correct path, those already Heartless continue to be looked upon with the utmost respect and the Nobodies struggle to survive, looking to the small number of wielders of their race to protect them.

A few questions still remains unanswered to the Keybladers: what is the true purpose of the Keyblades? How can they be used to free the hearts contained in Kingdom Hearts? Do the answers lie in the Heart or the Soul?

Information:

Humans: Most Humans believe that Nobodies should be destroyed. They are allied with the Heartless. Humans chose if they want to become Heartless, the only downfall is that another Nobody is created.

Heartless: Are seen as the purest being by Humans, but as source of a heart to the Nobodies. A Heartless Keyblade wielder’s first priority would be to hunt and destroy their own Nobody as they too posses a Keyblade. Nobodies: Are the lowest in society, hunted by Heartless and Humans. A Nobody may wish to fight their Heartless and destroy them to gain their heart back, but if their Heartless is already gone, they may wish to get one from Kingdom Hearts itself. I have a feeling that a large number of you may be interested in playing a Nobody ^^; I’d rather get a good mix of characters, just to make things interesting. I will probably end up limiting the number of Nobodies. Also, it is possible to play the Heartless of a Nobody that someone has created, and vice versa. It would certainly create more depth.

I think it’s possible to join even if you haven’t played Kingdom Hearts, as it’s only based loosely around it. Well, let the sign ups begin!

Appearance: May keeps her Japanese heritage from her Heartless self and stands around 5’6’’, giving the appearance of being younger than she is. Her black hair is side parted, allowing her fringe to cover her right eye. The rest of her hair is layered and just touches her shoulders with florescent pink highlighted in it. Her eyes are a jade green colour. She wears a white fitted shirt with short sleeves and a dark purple short scarf to cover up the Nobody mark on the left side of her neck. She has a double layered skirt; the top black layer reaches half way down her calf and the underskirt is purple and reaches her knees. She has a small silver chain around her wrist which her Keyblade hangs from when it is not in use and wears old black converse.
Personality: May is quite a timid person and is only outgoing when she is confident and passionate about something. She tends to hide behind others and let them make decisions for her. However, May longs to get a heart so that she can “fit in” with everybody else. She hates the way Nobodies are treated and trains often with her Keyblade so that she can defend others and one day defeat her Heartless to get her heart back. She is very determined and hates it when she fails at a task, but it only causes her to strive harder towards her goal.
History: May has only existed for about half a year and gave herself the name as she appeared in the month of May. Within a few days, she had got into trouble with some humans that had discovered her Keyblade. She didn’t understand what she had done, and had no idea how to fight back. She was rescued by Hyde, another Nobody, who has looked after her ever since. She has been training with Hyde, and although he doesn’t want a heart, has been helping her to find her Heartless self. She is unsure why he is helping her, as he despises all Humans and Heartless alike, but appreciates it nevertheless.
Keyblade appearance: May’s Keyblade has a thin, light, silver coloured frame that is about 3 feet long. At the handle end, there is a fragile snowflake design, also in silver. The key part itself has three sharp cones shaped like icicles, made out of pale blue crystal.

Name: Hyde

Appearance: standing at about 6’34’’ with a lean, yet well toned build and slightly pale skin. He has wild, untamed platinum blonde hair which just to his shoulders and has feral green eyes which stand out on his sharp face. He has an imposing quality to them, yet some sort of wolfish charm. He has the nobody symbol on his chest, however, he makes no attempt to hide it, wearing it almost as a symbol of pride.

He wears a black trench coat, which is left open revealing the nobody symbol. This gives him an almost sinister appearance, along with the black chocker around his neck. He wears a pair of pale, old jeans with tears all over then, and a pair of black combat boots
Personality: Wild ruthless and full of pride. Hyde shows a great disdain towards both the humans and the heartless, mainly because of their treatment towards nobodies. Because of this, he shows no fear of revealing what he is and almost relishes destroying both humans and heartless. Believe it or not, he’s probably the only nobody who doesn’t desire to have a heart. He refuses to become human again, especially after seeing how cruel they can be. He cares deeply for his fellow nobodies.
History: Hyde is the nobody of an executioner (a man wielding a keyblade). However, before he himself could be executed, he escaped. Because of this, he developed and enmity towards both mankind and the heartless, seeing humans as cruel, pathetic beings and heartless as things less then both humans and nobodys. Because of the keyblade he gained, due to his former self, he was able to show them both just what he thought of them. Everyone had considered his former self and his heartless good people, and saw the nobody as the evil one. So, he figured he’d play the part, naming himself Hyde after Dr. Jeckyl’s evil counterpart. He declared himself a defender of the Nobodies and an enemy to the human race.

A year into his new life, he came across another Nobody, May, under attack from a mob. With his keyblade, he saved May and has been traveling with her since, acting as her mentor and protector. While he disproves of her wanting her heart back, he chooses to help her, for reasons even he cannot understand.
Keyblade appearance: black, sharp and gothic, reaching about 4 foot in length. The handle is of a gothic design and a chain coils around the length of the keyblade. The blade is sharp, almost square, like the chipped blade of a guillotine

Name: Isaac Sumizone (the sixteenth, but no one really cares)

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Appearance: Pure white skin, pure black hair and near black eyes. All traits from an ancestor long dead passed through his line without fail. Black shirt and jeans. Black sandals. (NOT FLIP FLOPS). Black belt with a silver buckle. Hair is a bit anime-spiky, but not very much. Carry's keyblade across back instead of the usual side-holster. 6' 2", skinny, but strong. Not noticeably muscular, but still has decent strength.

Personality: Slightly dry and sarcastic, a bit cynical. He isn't the easiest to get along with, but once you've gained his respect and trust, he will lay down his life for you, no matter who (or what) you might be. A quiet man, he speaks only when necessary, though is easy to laughter. His words contain much wisdom, infused with logic instead of ideology.

History: Raised in his families' art by his father and grandfather, he was taught all he could learn about the Shadows. Unfortunatly, like many of the Sumizone, he lacked the ability to use it to any great extent. A mostly boring childhood except for these instructions till he was 14, and his grandfather died. His grandfather used to be a Keyblade wielder, so it was his duty to pass the blade on. For an unknown reason, he skipped his only son (our Isaac's father), and gave the blade to Isaac. His father at first was infuriated, but soon realized it was more useful in the hands of his son than his own. He quickly killed several Nobodies, then slowly realized he was killing humans. His own people, in a different form. This sickened him beyond belief, but he kept killing. Why? Not out of duty or fear, but something much simpler. He's bat-s%!& insane.

Keyblade appearance: A black blade, the entire front of it is a cutting edge all the way to the top. On the other side of the key, the other "tooth" so to speak, lays a black orb, a swirling black orb, at the top of the other "tooth." When the light of the outside dissipates some of the blackness, an item can be seen within the swirling mists. It is an object of incredible hope as well as of incredible destruction. None know what it is (though it's nothing earth shattering, it has more to do with Isaac's family). The blades name? Shadow's Saber.

Other: A minimal power to manipulate shadows, passed down throughout his family. (the original Isaac is on a different site that I go to). This is very slight, maybe enough to slightly extend a shadow for more cover. Ir may grow as we go on, but eh. Not that big of a thing.

Nice idea! This should be a very interesting RPG.
I have a question about the story though: mainly, what is this group? Are they a bunch of separate characters, or a group of friends?
My character:


Name: Zar Nhaga

Age: Unknown (late teens/early twenties in appearance)

Gender: Male

Race: Unknown (presumed Human)

Appearance: Standing 190cm tall, he is a dark man with sleek dark, silvery hair that lies back on his head and reaches to the bottom of his ears. He has neat, functional clothes with no designs or patterns to them, and they are always very dark colours, enough that they appear to be black in anything but the brightest light. His shirt is dark blue and goes past his arms, though he folds his cuffs back over his hands. He has slightly baggy pants that are dark brown. They reach to his ankles, and slightly go over the top of his black boots. He carries a small pouch on his belt that holds his few personal effects and items. When not in battle, he usually wears a plain hooded black cape that covers his entire body. He is never seen without at least his pants and shirt on.

Personality: Again, not much is known about him. He is icy and emotionless, though it sometimes seems to be a mask, not his true self. He prefers to stand off to the side in conflicts, only entering a battle when truly needing to or when he wants to. Despite this, he does not act arrogantly, more like an observer to the world, unwilling to participate in it. His motives and reasons are unknown, as is his past. Even his name is in doubt, as he regularly calls himself many things. He is actually a magic adept, fond of gravity and fire magicks, as well as some lesser known, more utilitarian spells.

History: Unknown. I hope to flesh this out as the story progresses. This isn't just me being lazy, I just want him to be a mystery (at least to start).

Keyblade appearance: A long blade, it reaches four foot in length. It is slender and appears more similar to a sword, and is slightly curved and warped. The key head orientates slightly away from the handle, unlike most Keyblades, whose heads are angled about 90 degrees form the handle. The head is also longer and thinner, looking more like a halberd than a Keyblade. It is coloured a dark scarlet, with sinuous red and black flames running down it's length. It's called the Serpent's Tongue.

Other: Like I said, he's primarily a magic user, rarely using his Keyblade though he is skilled at fighting nonetheless. He seems to share a mystical connection with his blade, beyond that of a normal wielder. He also seems to channel some of his more powerful magicks through the blade.



Just wondering, but what is the lore on magick here? Is it just the basic spells from KH, or can we make our own?

An outgoing person who has lived in Twilight Town most of his life, he has taking up a hobby of collecting Dragon Merchandise and hopes to meet a real dragon. Draco likes making friends but is sometimes a bit of a loner, he obtained a keyblade which later on he named "Absolution" after an incident involving half-hearts when on vacation, he learned to master the elements of fire, ice, thunder and earth and is learning the art of teleportation and can use powerful psychic abilities when wielding absolution.

He wears a black shirt with dragons on the front and back which has the words "Teneo thy Fatum" on the back meaning "Know thy Destiny" and long black denim jeans and black sneakers, his Keyblade "Absolution" is a combination of the oblivion and oathkeeper keyblades which is white in colour, has a gold chain running down it and also has a gold handle which has his lucky charm a dragon amulet as the keychain

He is friends with Xonic Cryoliz who saved him from being destroyed by a rather large half-heart, but later on he finds out that he and Xonic used to be best friends but he lost most of his memories of his past after a fierce battle with Xonic’s evil brother Dartanian and suffered amnesia but he eventually comes to reclaim his lost memories and now swear to make Dartanian pay for what he did to him and to many of his friends.
