How 'bouts we settle our score, MLG?

That would be great, I've been wanting a challenge, and we still have that score to settle.

4 vs 4, like last time?

Arena: Deapstove Canyon

Deep inside the giant canyon, the rocks tower out above as gigantic walls, almost blocking out the sunlight. The walls are unclimable and the top of the canyon can only be reached through flight or teleportation. The inside of the canyon is a small, but long stretched battlefield, covered in shadow and has many rocks lying scatered on it. Swords, shields and broken spears do sometimes appear to the sandy surface of the battlefields. Rumor says that there was once a huge battle. Even now, the persian gold lays untoken, since Deapstove villagers name the place cursed and dare to go up there.

The cave lie near to the shore, where huge cliffs seperate the battlefield from the sea. Falling off those cliffs will
result in a -5% HP loss and a trip on the beach. The beach is cut off from the rest of the village or country by a huge wall of
skeletons and Greek stone. So that means that everyone down's only option is climbing back up again (this is fairly do-able), but can be booted back down again, again resulting in a -5% HP loss, meaning, once you got the lower battleposition, you're screwed.

The battle starts on the regular place of battling, the inside of the canyon, 'where numbers don't matter'.

BADGE: Badge of the Underdog

A normal silver badge, incripted with 'MLG', nothing fancy. According to legend, weak pokemon are said to retrieve unlimited power from it.

DQ: 8 days.
Order: I send out first, you attack first.
Banned moves: None.
Pokemon: 4 vs. 4 (one at a time).

I choose Athene, my starter pokemon, a female Slowbro.

Actually, our last battle was a five-on-five, but whose keeping track? Meh...

I choose Libra, my shiny staryu!

Libra, initiate the battle by using Cosmic Power! Then, follow up with Tri-Attack as well as Flash Cannon!

Ok Athene, Yawn while Libra is powering up. Then Teleport to the high cliff wall. Then Mud Sport and halve the damage from electric attacks until the end of the match.

Very Well... I shall take the bait.

Since it's a Gym match I'm assuming no Damage Caps per Round (not that I've really seen that rule elsewhere <-<UU) Reffing will be up late tonight as I have to go to work for the next 6 hours -.-UUU

Until then!

Ready! FIGHT!
Welcome contenders to the Deapstove Canyon. Here we are special witness to a wonderful Gym match with a newly appointed Ref…. currently digging around in the canyon for fossils….

Anyway, today’s match pits Arbiter, the challenger, versus the Gym Leader known as MeLoVeGhOsTs. It starts off interestingly enough as Arbiter releases a Staryu, which shines as sparkles fly off its body in the sunlight. In MLG’s corner comes a dazed looking Slowbro. The match begins just as a small avalanche falls on the Ref.

Both Pokémon start off with a non-direct approach. Libra calls upon the stars themselves for a blessing to its defenses, shining its single orb. Athene, either un-impressed or just not paying attention, lets out a long drawn-out yawn at Libra. As such is yawning, Libra makes a yawn sound itself.

Shaking itself to stay awake (15, DC 15), three of the Water-Pokémon’s five appendages glow with either a red, yellow, or ice blue color. Bending those appendages at Athene a jet of fire, lightning, and ice blast forward in a magnificent Tri-Attack. The Slowbro just sits there as the attack comes in, then disappears in a flash of light, the kazork blasting through the light and hitting part of the canyon wall.

Opposite that canyon wall is Athene, sitting there and looking dazed as usual. Until she looks down and sees some mud and then seems to remember something. Kicking up mud in every direction the Water/Psychic-Pokémon spreads mud all over the canyon. Getting it in the back, Libra finds out where the Slowbro went and turns to see the Pokémon kicking and throwing dirt everywhere.

Finding the target, Libra top appendage starts to glow and it angles at Athene. Blasting out a jet of quicksilver (not really Mercury) the Slowbro is still dazed as it’s covered with liquid metal, weighing it down.

You're going to fall asleep soon, Libra, so let's make preparations. Immediately use Camouflage to blend in with the arena so that Athene's attacks are less accurate. Then, Flash her so that her accuracy is lowered even more. Lastly, use a Thunder Wave of your own.

However, if at any time you fall asleep, default to Sleep Talk.

Round 2 starts as the Ref finaly gets himself unstuck from the miniature avalanche he created digging for fossils in the side of the wall.

Libra, letting out a long drawn out yawn (15, DC 15), manages to shake itself to stay awake before it starts to fade out, blending in with the environment around it (-4), leaving only its shining jewel to be seen. As she stands on the edge of the canyon walls, a layer of metal covering parts of her body, Athene’s body begins to glow as she glances into the future, trying to make sense of it all (-8).

After that initial glance into the stream of time, Athene unleashes a Thunder Wave. Zapping and sparking around her, she’s still standing on the edge of the canyon, too far away from Libra to affect (-5)! Libra’s star begins to gain a slight glow before flashing brightly like the noon-day sun, causing Athene’s eyes to hurt (- Accuracy for Athene -4).

As the Slowbro mumbles in pain… slowly, Libra takes this chance to charge up her own electrical zappy-zap attack, but just as Athene’s Libra’s too far away for the Thunder Wave to take affect (-5), but it does prove as distraction enough for a sudden blast of psionic energy (-6) to come careening from nowhere. Sitting up there on the canyon wall, Athene seems… seems to be focusing it’s mind on her special attacks (-4).

With that, Round 2 is OVER!!!!

Ready! FIGHT!

Libra, its shiny jewel glowing in the sunlight, begins to condense its body into a much smaller portion (-5 Rolled 15, Libra stays awake). Athene, watching such a spectacle, tries to stare into the Staryu’s mind and copy this interesting trick. She sees the mental state and tries to duplicate it, but only succeeds in curling up, her size unchanged (-4).

Fully shrunk, Libra began to spin, centering around the glowing jewel (-4). Dozens of glowing yellow stars shoot out, arching for Athene. The Slowbro hears the attack and stares blankly at the onslaught as the barrage of stars comes up at her from the canyon floor. The first set of stars hits some intangible object (-6) and are stuck like throwing stars in a block of wood. More push their way into the barrier before the last set arch around and manage to score a light hit on Athene (-2).

Dropping the barrier, Athene points at Libra and sends her own jet of light-stars at the Water-Pokémon (-4). Libra starts up its spinning again, sending more stars at the Slowbro (-4).

The set of stars hit each other, the pentagon shapes shattering as they connect with the opposing stream. Despite the cascade of opposing “shooting stars” several stars get through and hit both competators (-4/-4).

Eh... thou might be right... <-<UU My Ref notes were not modified... give me a sec to change that...

Also, Reflect won't stay around indefinatly. Athene used Reflect to ward off the first barrage of Swift, but stopped concentrating on it so that she could counter-attack.

Reflect fades shortly after the user stops concentrating on maintaining it (concentration spends actions). Thus , Athene had the SP ATKDEF for the second Action of the Round and lost it during the Third Action.

Knowing our luck, Libra, this'll be the round you finally cave to your drowsiness. If that's the case, wait until Athene attacks. Hopefully her psychic pummelling will awaken you once more. If you are awake, wait until she teleports first, then you Teleport behind her and use Zap-Cannon! Then, Relax.

Use Sleep Talk for any action that you're asleep, however.

*Note: I know this strategy is pretty much exactly like MLG's, but I had thought about using this combo awhile ago, but never got a chance to execute it until just now. Oi...

I don't know if I like the idea of using in-game accuracy for ASB, MM. The reason I say this is because it doesn't allow for proper strategy like MLG and I have given.

Given the close proximity of Libra and Athene, I don't think their attacks (as inaccurate as they are) would've had anywhere to strike but their respective targets.

I'll wait and see what MLG thinks.

-Grey

MeLoVeGhOsTs
20th June 2007, 10:15 AM
Seriously, this dice rolling thing is getting on my nerves.

As Grey said, this is ASB, not the game. Allow some creativity, don't follow the rules all the time. The descriptions off attack in the attack list aren't always THAT perfect. Make up your own ways of describing it.

Perhaps you're not a ref that long and you still have to get used to it, but it'll work out, I'm sure.

Don't overdo it on the dice. Yawn is bound to activate if I'm close to Libra.

I understand the Zapcannon has low acc AND my Mudsport lowered it, BUT keep in account that both me and Grey used Teleport to go to an inch of our opponent and then strike. I'm not sure how it could have missed.

I suggest you retype the last reffing in favor of us all. Thanks.

Grey, something to add?

Greyfox
20th June 2007, 12:59 PM
No, that about does it.

-Grey

Mew Master
20th June 2007, 01:47 PM
Okay, Here's me defending my Reffing style.

Now, I'm fairly new to Reffing. My Fist match was Forfited, my second match went on haiatus because I was well... really freakin busy with school at the time.

Now, I use dice because the Dice tend to randomize esspecially for effects like Electric Attacks that have a change (Chance=percentiles) to paralize, or other attacks that also carry the possiblity for a status effect. I also use it, to try and keep the playing feild level. When I have ppl use things that deal a huge deal of energy and damage but have a low acuracy, I have to give it a chance to miss, because well you could just be THAT bad of a shot. Because if EVERY attack hit, then well that'd be boring. This also helps me NOT play favorites, and blame the Dice Gods for their fickelty.

I'm also using my interpretatiosn of the ASB Attack Lists on Yawn that say "could make Drowsey" and in the Game the Target falls asleep in two rounds. So, roll to see if it falls asleep for that round or not. Now if you feel tired, and take a nap, you might be a whee bit groggy, but you aren't tired anymore. Trust me, I'm reading the Attack Lists and interpreting them my way, it may not be anyone elses way on how they interpret it, I'm also trying to make the match as fair as possible.

Now, if you REALLY want me to redo the last round, I can. But honestly I don't think I should.

MeLoVeGhOsTs
20th June 2007, 01:51 PM
Well, taking a nap after a Yawn doesn't mean it'll last another 4 rounds before sleeping..Honestly.

And every doesn't need to hit, but most of them do. That's how it works in the animé anyway. It's the opponents problem and he needs to deflect that attack by putting some strategy into attacks. That's just how it works IMO.

Greyfox
20th June 2007, 02:14 PM
Attacks are going to miss, we know that, but that shouldn't be the case in this situation.

Given their proximity, it would be very difficult for Libra to miss - in fact, it'd have to purposely aim at the ground or in the air to do so, methinks. Notwithstanding, have you ever punched someone? It's insanely easy to land a hit unless the person you're hitting dodges it.

The way to counter the boringness of watching everyone use great attacks that cause great damage is the fatigue. Consider this example:

Charizard is four meters away from his foe, a Scyther. Now, Scyther is an incredibly agile Pokemon. In-game, Flamethrower hits 100% of the time except under certain circumstances. However, because Scyther is so insanely agile, a chain of fire becomes easy to dodge, but Charizard wastes little to no energy firing it off.

Charizard chooses instead to use Fire Blast, which, in-game, is much less accurate because of it's power (this is the game's way of balancing the attack). However, in the anime, Fire Blast is a large blast of fire that's harder to dodge based on the intensity of the attack. If used properly, it can cover any distance that Scyther can dodge; in this case, Charizard wastes a lot more energy using it.

That's just my thing.

Ready! FIGHT!

Letting out a long drawn-out sigh, Libra finally succumbs to the temptation of sleep. Falling backwards onto the ground, the Water-Pokémon starts to snore… which has the Ref confused as Staryu doesn’t have nasal passages… Seeing her chance, Athene stares at Libra and uses mental energy to force the Staryu into the ground as if it’s being crushed (-8/-14). The mental attack seems to have some effect on Libra, as it gets up and starts to flail around, spinning irradically, banging into random swords and spears and bouncing off a shield (-5, -2 (Weapon Hazards)), before spinning on one appendage and falling back down on the ground.

With her opponent asleep, Athene disappears in a flash of light (-6), reappearing right next to the sleeping Libra. Noticing something off, Libra looks up from her nap, to see Athene standing over it and mumbling slowly. Libra doesn’t think anything of it right away, until it finally realizes that it’s not a good idea to sleep in the middle of a match. The starfish disappears in its own flash (-6), leaving Athene confused as to where its opponent went.

Which of course, Libra is now sitting right behind the Slowbro. Sparks of electricity jump up and down its body as the jewel gathers the energy, preparing to blast it forward. At which point the bolt of electricity blasted out, arching randomly and blasting bits of the sand into glass and electrically charging some of the various metal items as well as zapping Athene (-10/-14), the Slowbro’s muscles spasm and threaten to lock up on her. Athene, now realizing that the Staryu went behind her, charged up energy in one of her hands as she turns, aiming for Libra, and scoring a hit (-8/-8), the energy from the attack blasting through Libra, sending the starfish flying backwards and crashing into weapons and sand. Sand and a few gold coins fly into the air (-2 (Weapon Hazards)), as Libra tries to stand, little birdies flying around its head… arm… leg… where ever a starfish’s head is.

Your extremely hightened mental abilities will allow you to shoot them towards your foe quickly. Athene's a slow foe, especially since she's paralyzed, so hopefully your attack won't give her time to teleport away.

Little birdies still flying around it’s head, Libra begins to glow with a faint aura (-9) as the weapons that it had crashed into start to float and swirl around it, like the asteroid belt of a star-shaped planet, before they blast forward towards the spasming Slowbro. However, in it’s confusion several chunks of weapons, shields, and rocks hit the Staryu in the back of it’s… head? (-4, (Hazards plus throwing them)). Athene can’t do much but stand there as she’s pelted with swords, shields, rocks, and a random gold coin or three (-10). With a gold coin bouncing off of her head, Athene tries to use the pent-up electrical energy trying to paralyze her, releasing it into the immediate area (-5), of which the Staryu was knocked too far back to be affected by it.

Annoyed, Libra tries to shriek and disorient its opponent, however it only succeds in shrieking so sharply that it hurts itself (-3, -2). Then from the stream of time, comes a psychic blast, knocking Libra back again (-8). Athene, closes her eyes and several hexagonal spheres surround her body, floating around her like options from Gradius III (-8).

Shaking its… head. Dang I shoulda paid more attention in Zoology. The Staryu shakes itself back and electric energy starts to charge up along its body (-7). It discharges and slams into the Slowbro (-9). Athene starts to move towards her opponent, much faster than a Slowbro should be able to move. Reaching out to grab Libra (-5), her muscles lock up, over-exerting and causing paralysis to take hold.

HP: 45

Status: Attack Powers +++. Covered in Mud (Electricity Acc -). Condensed (EVA +). Confused.

Ref Notes: Future Sight attacked Libra just as predicted…. Then forgotten by Athene. Sound waves can cause pain if too high pitched. Competitors can still attack despite having no energy, only health is used instead for 1 Health = 2 Energy rounded up, so 5 Energy would cause them to lose 3 Health.

Also Note: My Reffings are how I see the fight playing out. I will not re-do any other Reffing post that I make, and if you don’t like that, then you can get another Ref, which due to our seemingly shortage of such Refs, this battle might not get finished for a few months.

The Arena
Deapstove Canyon

Deep inside the giant canyon, the rocks tower out above as gigantic walls, almost blocking out the sunlight. The walls are un-climbable and the top of the canyon can only be reached through flight or teleportation. The inside of the canyon is a small, but long stretched battlefield, covered in shadow and has many rocks lying scattered on it. Swords, shields and broken spears do sometimes appear to the sandy surface of the battlefields. Rumor says that there was once a huge battle. Even now, the Persian gold lays untaken, since Deapstove villagers name the place cursed and dare to go up there.

The cave lies near to the shore, where huge cliffs separate the battlefield from the sea. Falling off those cliffs will result in a -5% HP loss and a trip on the beach. The beach is cut off from the rest of the village or country by a huge wall of skeletons and Greek stone. So that means that everyone down's only option is climbing back up again (this is fairly do-able), but can be booted back down again, again resulting in a -5% HP loss, meaning, once you got the lower battle-position, you're screwed.

The battle starts on the regular place of battling, the inside of the canyon, 'where numbers don't matter'.

Ready! FIGHT!

With a blast of dynamite that he had stashed, the Ref becomes un-covered from the pile of rocks that he was trapped under. Why he had dynamite… no one knows… Round 6!

With a flash of light, both Athene and Libra disappear (-7/-5). Appearing farther down the field, Libra looks dazed as to where its at. Athene, on the other hand, appears just a foot shy of where Libra was standing in the canyon floor.

Leaning over, Libra catches a short breath (+5). And Athene starts sparking with electricity after spotting the Staryu. Pointing at the Water Pokémon. The sparks jump off and form a massive bolt of electricity that decimates the arena, causing sand to turn into glass, the swords and shields gain an electric charge, and it blasts against the side of the canyon (-12). However, the irradic lightning bolt misses Libra, gaining back its strength.

The two combatants start at each other from a distance. Athene staying there, her attack would be too far to hit, and Libra relaxes once again (+5

Of course, smoldering and smoking with a pile of rocks blasted off of him, the Ref exhales a puff of smoke as Round 7 gets underway.

Letting out a yawn, Athene unleashes a barrage of shiny starts that dart towards the Staryu resting on the cliff (-3/-6). Smacked out of its relaxing state, the Water Pokémon retaliates by shooting a stream of starts right back (-3/-4)!

Content with the strike, Libra unleashes another blast of stars (-3/-6 (Critical hit)) which scores a direct hit through Athene’s defenses. Struck by the attack, Athene can’t move, paralysis taking over.

The Round starts off as Libra disappears in a flash of light (-9). Athene is stupefied as to where the starfish went until she sees the genderless-one’s featureless face staring right at her. She’s content as the freakish Pokémon appears before her (+5).

The almost sea-monkey looking Pokémon yawns deeply (+5), as Libra starts to charge up like a ecstatic Car battery (-1, -6 (Energy Substitute)). The bolt arcs not far between the two and zaps Athene, shocking her and blasting her backwards (-15).

Libra wastes no time in charging up a second bolt and unleashing it (-7 (Energy Substitute)), but the bolt is not under his control. It archs madly between it and Athene, blasting parts of the arena once again but also lightly hitting Athene along it’s random arch (-6 (Glancing)) as the Slowbro gains back even more energy through the static clinging to her body (+5).

Here goes Round 9! … Nope. No snappy comment… yet.

Libra looks drained and the jewel in the center of its body is glowing faintly. Following orders, it starts to relax and regain a small bit of energy (+5). Athene, however, isn’t willing to let the Staryu take its breather without any repercussions. Electricity charges around her and starts to form an aura of sparkly energy before disappearing in a flash of light (-6 (Teleport), -13 (Zap Cannon), -1 (Energy Substitute)) and reappears right in front of Libra before unleashing a massive electrical attack that shocks and sends the lax Water Pokémon flying backwards into more obstacles (-15 (Zap Cannon), -2 (Environmental Hazards)).

Picking itself up, Libra struggles to stand and gains back some energy (+5).

Gathering up her own energy, Athene charges up a small sphere of power before unleashing it in a massive beam right at Libra. It cuts through the ground sending sand and random artifacts straight into the air before blasting into Libra (-8 (Energy Substitute)/-12) knocking the starfish outcold!

Arbiter recalls his Pokémon and prepares to send out his next choice at the end of Round 9.

Despite being needlessly poked by the battlers, the Ref has not forgotten his duities… while the fossils are tantalizing, and contemplating hauling them out, the match continues!

The cemented magnets start to whirl as a thin screen of light pops up in front of it (-6). The Fire Type just snickers as he spins around in a version of a twirling ember attack. However, the embers don’t just hit the screen, they fly off, floating towards the Pin-Wiz. Some of the floating flames hit the screen, but then others fly around and hover around the Magneton, causing the metal to heat and then burn (-3).

Content with his work, the Charmander begins to dance around, small embers flying off of the tip of the tail (-7). Floating through the burn, Pin-Wiz charges up a condensed beam of electricity before unleashing it in Rodger’s direction. Blasted backwards, the Fire Pokémon did get part of his goal accomplished (-4/-6).

Swirling orbs of energy start to surround the Magneton as Rodger starts scooping hand-full after hand-full of sand out of the way. The energy blasts off and connects with his lower back, but then he scurries away. (-8, -8/-6). Just before the bombadeer bursts from the ground under the Magneton, striking a decent hit (-10). Smiling, Rodger nods but then starts coughing while Pin-Wiz shudders from its scorch (-2 (Poison)/-2 Burn).

Ready! FIGHT!

The round continues, so here we go!

Metallic in all it’s… um… metal glory, Pin-Wiz starts to glow, as bits of its sheen flake off, revealing a fresh coat of pain underneath. The burn flakes off, leaving the Magneton feel slightly chilly but much better (-7). Just as the Electric/Steel Pokémon feels content, a stream of smoke covers it and the area that it’s currently hovering in (-5).

Sneering, Rodger inhales deeply before cutting loose with a giant blast of pure flames making a strangely familiar shape to the Blair Witch stick figure. It collides with the smoke, forcing it to dispense as the shape rushes through (-13). Pinball, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be near there, as he flashes in a few yards behind the Charmander (-6).

Confused, Rodger looks around for his opponent, before spotting the genderless Pokémon behind him. Spinning and lunging, his teeth flowing with dark energy, the Magneton calls down a massive bolt of lightning from the heavens (-7/-10). The bolt catches Rodger as he nears the Magneton, causing muscles to spasm and lock, but not before he gets a bite outta the magnet-trio (-14 (Paralyzed)/-9).

Rodger coughs a bit (-2 (Poison)). As the round ends.

Ready! FIGHT!

Ahh yes, an oddly familiar sight. A canyon in the midst of a battle field and two opponents facing off against one another. On with it!

The paralysis is causing Rodger to move much slower than normal, as should be expected. Pin-Wiz starts to float above the sandy bottom, ensuring that the change in the earth’s magnetic field below him will keep him from getting hurt from the ground again (-13). Inhaling, Rodger hocks-up a set of dozens of blue flames, sending them floating towards the hovering Pin-Wiz who tries to float around them, but has his newly shiny body scared, burned and melted in areas (-3/Burned).

Rodger, seeing a set target, starts to unleash a blast of flames. However some neurons damaged from others don’t allow him to aim properly due to the numbness from earlier (-8/-10). However he did manage to score a hit. After that little exchange, Pin-Wiz floats gently there, hovering above reach of the ground-bound Charmander (+5).

Crackling with electric-charge, Pin-Wiz unleashes a small lightning bolt that arcs and twists before slamming into Rodger (-7/-9). The new blast of electricity causes the Charmander’s Paralysis to kick in, making it too numb to move and unable to unleash his next attack!

The burn takes its toll on the Magneton, and Rodger coughs, too much exertion causing the poison to spread (-2 (Burn)/-2 (Poison)).

Ready! FIGHT!

A fiery match thus far, almost half-way over, and yet the exciting part’s just getting started.

Rodger, going all out, decides to take it easy, regaining some of his energy back (+5). In a wonderful parody of the Transformers Movie, Pin-Wiz lets lose with the classic wha-wha-wha-wha sound as he rearranges himself so that the Magnemite trio connects their magnets together inside, and leaves the other set outwards, looking like a triad. With their pieces in place, Pin Wiiizzzarrrddd (ATHF reference, couldn’t help it), starts to spin and roll towards the resting Charmander (-5/-5), sending him flying backwards into another weapons cache. The Magneton continues to roll, gaining more momentum.

Snarling, Rodger picks himself up before unleashing a blazing jet of flame in the Magneton’s direction (-7). Pin-Wiz continues to spin like a saw-blade, the magnets slicing through the jet of flame as he heads for the Fire-Type (-10), he still takes damage, and rolling through the flames lessens his mobility and speed in the attack (-7/-6).

OW! The Charmander’s starting to feel like a speed-bump. He glares at the Steel/Electric Pokémon as it races around the arena. Inhaling, Rodger unleashes a massive burst of flame that blasts across the field, the intense heat causing the sand to melt and turn into glass (-10) However, a combination of his paralysis and Pin-Wiz’s rolling speed makes the attack miss, and reduce a pile of weapons into slag. Arcing, Wiz zooms in, slamming into Rodger with the force of a couple rolling rocks (-5/-9). After that last attack, Pin-Wiz uncurles with that transforming sound and the three sets of eyes look like they’re spinning, and it’s obvious its dizzy. Rodger coughs some, the poison racking through his system as Pinball feels the burn (-2 (Burn)/-2 (Poison)).

The round’s over, one’s dizzy, and the other one looks like road-kill.

Ready! FIGHT!

The match continues, an intense fight for a Gym Leader’s honor, and a Trainer’s ambitions. Let’s go.

Rodger, after being a speed-bump for Pin-Wiz’s twirling trip, regains energy while glaring at the floating over-grown refrigerator magnet (+5). This doesn’t help when Pinball unleashes a high-pitched screech that cuts through the air (-3/(DEF -)).

While still a bit dizzy from the last round, Pinball Wizard centers in on Rodger’s location, searching with its own targeting software and locking onto the Flame Salamander (-5). Rodger continues to regain his energy, the shriek from earlier ringing in his ears (+5).

Ready, Rodger concentrates and a white sphere of energy surrounds him, illuminating the Fire Type (-17). Not about to let this thing stop it, Pin-Wiz charges as sparks of electricity converge and then lash out at Rodger, battering him with their energy. After the smoke clears, more sand has been turned into glass, but Rodger survives, un-damaged (-9, -3 (Energy Substitute)).

Aching from the pain of its scorched side, Pin-Wiz still has a bit more to go to end Rodger’s exsistence… or at lest the Charmander’s time awake, even though he’s poisoned as well (-2 (Burn)/-2 (Poison)).

After a short leave of absence, Round 16 continues!

Paralysis gripping Rodger like a bad case of Novocain over-dose, Rodger forces his body to move, Unleashing a massive burst of flames, Rodger sends it towards Pin-Wizard (-13). The flames surround everything, melting weapons, the gold coins, and turning even more sand into glass. After the flames clear, however, there is nothing there (-6 (Energy Substitute), -10 (Fire Blast)). Pinball-Wizard managed to teleport to safety, but not before being affected by the attack itself.

Sitting atop the canyon wall, Pin-Wiz takes this opportunity to relax and regain strength (+5). Rodger, the Magneton out of range for most of his attacks, watches for it before his muscles lock up from the strain of unleashing the last attack.

This continues (+5), as Rodger’s muscles start to regain a bit of their mobility.

Ready! FIGHT!

Both Pokémon are getting winded, and special differences make attacks less effective than before with round 17!

From his point standing on the sand, Rodger scans the edge of the canyon walls, searching for the Win-Wiz. Catching a glint of sunlight off steel he finds the magnet Pokémon. Inhaling he unleashes a busting jet of flames up and towards the Magneton (-9). The blast is weakened by the distance but still manages to scar the magnets (-7 (Weakened by distance)). Pin Wiz returns in kind by unleashing a barrage of stars (-3/-2 (Distance)). The stars dig into Rodger’s side and knock the little flaming salamander back.

Pin Wiz continues the assault ((-2/-1 (Distance)), making Rodger snarl in pain. Once more the Charmander inhales deeply, preparing to send a massive attack, but his nerves lock up and he can’t move!

The Wizard, content, floats there lazily (+5). Annoyed, Rodger charges up his energy before unleashing a massive sphere of energy that causes the sand to melt and the weapons to turn to slag. This dome of energy expands to the point where it connects with the Pin Wizard, the force knocking him back and down the back side of the cliff (-6, -7 (Energy Substitute), (SPATK ---)/-20 (Overheat), -5 (Cliff-fall)).

Unable to move, due to pain and other factors, Pin-Wiz is taken out of the match, with Rodger the winner of this round, even as he coughs and his head spins (-2 (Poison)).
