Surf hits your ally now.

Why does Surf hit your ally now!? That screwed me up against the Double-Battle Generals on Mt. Coronet.

Not just surf, earthquake too. I learn it the hard way during my double battles at the Battle Towers. If you are to use surf, I suppose it would be better if you use Surf and paired that Pokemon up with either a Leaf type or a Water type where it would do lesser damaged.

I paired my Golduck with Leafeon in double battles. Surf does hit Leafeon but Leafeon still regains its health due to Synthesis and Shell Bell.

Actually Earthquake always hit your ally, that wasn't changed. Magnitude, Self Destruct, and Explosion did too. The fact they changed Surf, though, does suck. I'm assuming Muddy Water is the same, since it was basically a Surf copycat with less accuracy and a stat down effect (hell, the animation is the same).

Actually Earthquake is easy to avoid in Double battles, just get a partner that is either a flying type or a Pokemon that has Levitate as its ability. The former would be better since Levitate is useless once the Pokemon gets paralysed.

They changed Surf, Water Sport and Mud Sport. I don't like that change, and I intend to keep it as it was in the AC/CC subforum. Although you can benefit from it if your ally is a Vaporeon.

Heh heh, I used surf a lot when I had to team up with that guy in the cave so I wouldn't have to share Exp.

Which guy are you refering on? Do you mean the guy that has a Lucario and heals you after every battle in Iron Island? Or that little girl with a Kadabra whom you escorted out in the Wayback cave? Or the lady with a Chansey which accompanied you in the Eterna Forest?

If it is those guys and you are using surf to destroy their pokemon in order for them not to acquire any exp from you, you must be crazy. In fact from what I analysed these people does not share the EXP points with you. You instead get all those points.

I killed off the guy's Lucario once and looked at the points for each Pokemon killed. Then for the next battle, I left it alone and focus my attention on the opponent's Pokemon. The EXP points I get are the same. So if you killed those NPCs' Pokemons, you are just merely wasting your own Pokemon's PPs since you have to kill off their share.

No, Muddy Water does not hit your ally. :) *oogles Gastradon*

EDIT: and btw, your other teammate when you're doing 2 vs 2 does NOT recieve exp. So killing him off doesn't do anything except, uh, killing him off. :p

What?! It looked to me like they were getting points. Huh, wierd. What little girl with a Kadabra? Which cave is that?

Little Girl with Kadabra is in Wayward cave.

And, no, you can even tell because they don't get levels. Heck, I used Lucario guy to level my burmy from 5 to level 50 and he stayed at like, level 19 all that time :p

Just so you know, there's one more case in which you "play escort". It happens after you get the National Dex, in the cave where you eventually find Heatran. I don't know the trainer's name, or what her Pokemon is, however. I do know that you must escort her out before Heatran appears there.

Two more times actually. You're getting both of them confused together...

One the the girl you have to help through the remaining section of Victory Road after the E4. The other is Buck who you help though Stark Mt.

Yeah, I've noticed that long ago with my Empoleon (back when he was a Prinplup). :notfunny:

I HAVE used Surf a couple of times (I think) in a Double Battle anyway (when I felt my partner could survive it), but usually, I have Empoleon do a different attack so whoever his partner is doesn't suffer collateral damage.

Whoa, the Levitate ability is canceled by inflicting Paralyze on the Pokemon that has it?! Is that really true?! :o

I never knew that. :v

If you want to Double Battle with Surf, choose a partner with Water Absorb or something. o.o

Now you know. Damn it, Thunderwave. I had battled much at the Battle Tower and experience different kinds of Double Battles. The single battles are just too easy. It is the Double Battles that gives me the most headache.

I read in the National Pokedex guide (Nintendo's one) that Eruption hits everybody, or does it only hit both opponents? I know Lava Plume hits everybody.
