THE DARK PROGNOSTICUS: RECRUDESCENCE
A product of BlademasteRPG, Inc.
The Dark Prognosticus...
That was the name of that accursed tome... The black book of the ancient ones... The seer of the fates of all beings... The text that would bring about death and disaster to thousands before it was finally undone from the pages of history forever. To this day, nobody knows who wrote the Dark Prognosticus, or how it came to be able to predict the darkest and most frightening of fates, nor do they desire to know - the Dark Prognosticus had been sought by many who wished to know their futures, and every last seeker of the book's answers met with a horrible fate, having never found the happiness they yearned for...
But it was not this string of terribly ill luck that earned the Dark Prognosticus its utter taboo. No, what had truly made this text a legend amongst the darkest of legends were the actions of its final executor: a lonesome, misguided soul whose heart almost drove him to obliterate existence itself... That man's name was Blumiere, and this is his story...
Blumiere was born to the Tribe of Darkness, a race of humanlike creatures with mastery over the dark arts and a burning hatred for humanity. After destroying the lives of so many, the Dark Prognosticus was entrusted by Fate to these dark beings, who would guard it from ever falling into the wrong hands again. And so it was, for 1,500 years...
But what Fate had not forseen was that one of the Darkness's own would eventually become those very wrong hands. Prince Blumiere was an aspiring young figure, regal and respected by his entire tribe... a model candidate to become their next ruler, in fact. But one day, the young prince was in a tragic accident - en route to return to his father's palace, Blumiere was inexplicably thrown from a cliff. After falling hundreds of feet, the gravely injured Count finally came to rest in foreign territory: human territory. There, he was found by a young woman by the name of Timpani, a royal figure in her own right who immediately rushed to the fallen Count's aid and nursed him back to health. Blumiere's life changed that day... Humans were no longer alien creatures to be despised, in his eyes, but rather a respectable and kindhearted race. And Timpani herself...
No further words need be said on the matter - Blumiere and Timpani began to sneak off to see each other whenever possible, breaking both of their respective tribes' strictest laws for the sake of love. They were perfect for each other, their worries and cares gone forever - they only knew pure happiness with each other.
But that happiness was not to last - Blumiere's father soon discovered what his son had done, and inflicted horrible punishments to Blumiere, which he tried his hardest to hide from his beloved. Fearing for Blumiere's life, Timpani attempted to leave him, but in a mad proclamation of passion, he begged Timpani to elope with him. Motivated by her heart alone, she agreed, but before the two could escape, Blumiere's father found them and, using his tribe's powers, banished Timpani from their world - indeed, from their very dimension. When he heard the news, Blumiere was stricken with grief and soon vanished from his tribe without a trace...
Fearing the worst, Blumiere's father ordered a search for his son. The entire Tribe of Darkness searched, scouring every last corner of their kingdom and every other. They searched high and low for days... weeks... months... But they never found the missing prince.
But one day, after Blumiere's father had all but given up hope, he was alerted to come to the Hall of the Prognosticus as quickly as he could - word had spread that a powerful sorceror who bore a striking resemblance to Blumiere had breached the sanctuary and slain the guards there. A mixture of hope and dread in his heart, Blumiere's father rushed to the Hall of the Prognosticus to confront the intruder...
"Blumiere...? Blumiere, is it really you?"
"Bleh heh heh heh heh..."
"Blumiere... My son... What has happened to you? Answer me!"
"The one you call 'Blumiere' no longer exists, Father... Count Bleck is my name now."
"What?! What is this nonsense you speak of?! And how dare you enter the library of the Dark Prognosticus!?"
"Bleh heh heh heh! Bleck! I indeed dare! Count Bleck requires the Dark Prognosticus' powers to make his dream come true!"
"WHAT!?! You fool, you know that no good has ever come from that accursed text!!"
"Exactly. ...Replies Count Bleck. But no good can come from Count Bleck's life without the book, so it matters not either way..."
"What... What are you saying...?!"
"Count Bleck has nothing more to say... You took Count Bleck's world from him; now, the time has come to repay that favor..."
"No! Blumiere, I beg you, don't touch the book...!"
"Bleh heh heh heh heh heh... Farewell, murderer..."
Those were the final words ever uttered in that world - with that single manic act of regret, the fuse leading to the destruction of worlds was lit. Blumiere, now Count Bleck, obliterated his father's kingdom with his dark magic, amplified by the powers of the Dark Prognosticus. But his plans had only just begun... Through an elaborate ruse, Bleck staged a wedding between Princess Peach of the Mushroom Kingdom and King Bowser of the Koopa Kingdom, for it was written in the Dark Prognosticus that the union of a pure-hearted maiden and a monstrous king would unleash an artifact of the most ancient evil: the Chaos Heart. Once unleashed, the Chaos Heart would tear open a Void in the very fabric of the dimensions - a Void that would expand until it encompassed all worlds - and then erased them.
However, even with the Chaos Heart unleashed, there was still time to undo its damages and close the Void - an opposing, or perhaps even parallel tribe to the Tribe of Darkness, known simply as the Ancients, had taken careful countermeasures of their own to surpress the Dark Prognosticus' magic. At the time of the Dark Prognosticus' passing to the Tribe of Darkness 1,500 years ago, High Priestess Merlumina of the Ancients created a book that would come to be known as the Light Prognosticus - a tome that could anticipate and prevent the predictions of the Dark Prognosticus. In a similar fashion, her brethren had created an embodiment of pure love and happiness known as the Purity Heart, which was split into 8 Pure Hearts and scattered, hidden in the most sacred and heavily-protected corners of eight different dimensions to prevent the weilder of the Chaos Heart from ever finding them.
And so, the legend of the Purity Heart and the Chaos Heart was written in the Light Prognosticus:
"When the Heart of Chaos summons forth the Void, four heroes shall arise, their combined efforts recollecting the Pure Hearts and using their light to banish the darkness."
The legend proved true - Merlon, a descendant of Merlumina herself and High Priest of the interdimensional town of Flipside, assembled the four heroes: Mario Mario, Luigi Mario, Princess Peach Toadstool, and King Bowser Koopa. And in an upset like none other in history, the four heroes, assisted by a fairy-like creature named Tippi, reclaimed the eight Pure Hearts, bested Count Bleck's minions, and eventually assaulted his castle once and for all.
But it was there that Fate threw a massive monkey wrench into the plans of both the heroes and Count Bleck. Tippi, a victim of amnesia, finally managed to reassemble her memories in Castle Bleck - she was none other than Lady Timpani, who Merlon had discovered between dimensions several years earlier. With the mysterious woman gravely injured, Merlon used his tribe's powers to transform Tippi into a Pixl - a surrealistic lifeform of sentient light that could not be die.
The mystery of Count Bleck's and Tippi's pasts revealed to the four heroes, they were left with no choice but to defeat Bleck in a final, reluctant battle. Near death, the defeated Count requested to be finished so that the Void would close and at least Tippi would remain alive.
Bleck's request, however, was nearly fulfilled in the worst way - a diabolical jester named Dimentio, who was one of Count Bleck's most trusted henchmen, betrayed him and, completing an intricate and ingenious plan that he had long since laid into effect, abducted the hero Luigi Mario, who was said to be the perfect vessel for the Chaos Heart in the Dark Prognosticus. Combining his powers, the Chaos Heart, and its 'host,' Dimentio was transformed into a nightmarish beast: Super Dimentio. The remaining three heroes, along with Count Bleck and Tippi, banded together and eventually managed to destroy Super Dimentio. But with no one controlling it and the Void so nearly complete, it was too late to stop the Chaos Heart through battle anymore, so in one final, desperate act of love, Bleck and Tippi confronted the Chaos Heart and professed their love before it, and in doing so, the 8 Pure Hearts merged into the Purity Heart once more, negated the Chaos Heart, and closed the Void once and for all...
And so, the Chaos Heart and the Purity Heart vanished, and life in all dimensions returned to normal... Though none knew of whatever had happened to Count Bleck and Lady Tippi. Had they died sacrificng themselves? Or were they erased from existence altogether? Or... did something happen to them that not even the Prognosticus's themselves could foresee?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That... is where the story of the Dark Prognosticus was supposed to end forever...
But it didn't - the Chaos Heart had been erased from history, but the Dark Prognosticus itself remained behind, its magic preserving it by locking it away in the deepest, darkest of all dimensions: END. Short for 'Eternal Night Dimension,' this realm of pure blackness now houses the Dark Prognosticus, allowing it to continue to record the dark fates of worlds completely unhindered. And, indeed, the book would have done so, but there was a problem: with nobody to read it, there was nobody's fate to reveal. Thus, the dark essence of the book itself devised a plan - using its powerful magic, the Dark Prognosticus weakened the END's spatial boundaries just enough for the descendants of the Ancients to rediscover it. But, to their horror, the location of the book was unknown to them. And even worse, someone in Flipside leaked out the should-have-been secret that the Dark Prognosticus still existed; soon, the whole town knew, and being nestled in between dimensions as it was, word soon spread across entire dimensions.
The hunt for the Dark Prognosticus had begun again...
OK, there's the story; here's the sign-up. By the way, you can be a made-up character, or any character from the game with interdimensional transportation. However, there are some exceptions to this rule, so don't give me a hard time if I reject your character. With that being said, here you go:
Primary Form
This is what your character will typically look like and act like.
Name: (Obvious.)
Age: (Also obvious; you can be as old or as young as you want.)
Gender: (Male, female, or genderless.)
Role: (Are you on the good side? Are you on the evil side? Or are you somewhere in between? [Please specify.])
Appearance: (What you look like, what clothes you wear, what accessories you carry, etc..)
Personality: (What's your character like?)
History: (Anything important in your character's past you want to mention, mention it here.)
Ethereality: (The only way to progress in this RPG is if you have the power to travel through/between dimensions. Can you do that? If so, how? If not, how will you get from dimension to dimension? I want you guys to put some thought into this one.)
Powers: (Besides dimensional transportation, you have to have some other power(s). Limit three per character.)
Other: (You all know what to do with this, right...? ;))
Secondary Form
This is optional - if you wish, your character can transform into a different form (ex., Blumiere into Bleck, Timpani into Tippi, etc.). You remain basically the same, except that your powers become stronger and more versatile. The change is not so drastic that your gender or motives change, nor do you develop any different powers - dimensional or otherwise.
Name: (Still obvious.)
Age: (How long your character's second form has existed, basically.)
Catalyst: (The trigger(s) that causes your character to transform into his/her/its secondary form; once said catalyst ends or passes, you revert to your primary form again. Limit two per character.)
Appearance: (Same as above - it can be as subtle or as outrageous as you want.)
Personality: (Does this form have a different personality from the first? If so, what?)
History: (How did this form come to be?)
Other: (Same as above. Poor Other...)
And with that being said, here I go:
Primary Form
Name: Blumiere Infeneri
Age: Approximately 30
Gender: Male
Role: Hero - he seeks to find the Dark Prognosticus and destroy it once and for all so it can't hurt anyone anymore.
Appearance: About 6'1" and 185 pounds, Blumiere is a slim, humanoid figure with indigo skin, black hair, red-orange eyes with black pupils, and short fangs instead of teeth. His body is hidden by a classy white tuxedo with golden buttons and a large, spherical brooch the color of red wine situated just below his high collar, which is lined with red on the inside. His shoes and gloves are a flawless white, and his belt is black as pitch. Draped over his tuxedo is a white cape that gradually changes from white to midnight blue at its ends; the inside of the cape is jet-black and lined with stars and speckles of various shades of blue, white, and purple. He wears a monocle over his right eye, and his hair is concealed by a tall white top hat with a midnight blue wrap just above the brim. He carries a wooden staff about four feet in length which is topped by a golden cap, nestled in which is a diamond-shaped gemstone the color of glass.
Personality: Blumiere is a romantic figure when in the company of his dear wife Timpani, whom he treats like a goddess. He is calm and gentle, but he also has a regal air about him and he will take an authoritive stance when the situation calls for it. In times of calmness and peace, he is a gentle soul and will assist those in need. But in times of strife, he becomes firm and will fight fiercely for what he believes in, no matter what it may cost him.
History: N/A (See the story above.)
Ethereality: Blumiere learned a spell that would allow its caster to transfer himself/herself and others to other dimensions by reading the Dark Prognosticus.
Powers:
1. Temporal Distort: Blumiere can slow or speed up time itself for brief periods.
2. Micro Void: Blumiere can cast dark blasts of ethtereal energy at his enemies that suck them in and explode on contact.
3. Blast Barrier: Blumiere can surround himself with a barrier of red energy that inflicts burning pain on anyone who touches it. It can also incinerate or reflect small projectiles.
Other: 'Infeneri' is a name of my own devising - a mix of 'inferno' and 'infinity.' Befitting for a Dark Tribesman with the power to obliterate every world in existance, don't you think? ;)
Secondary Form
Name: Count Bleck
Age: At least 5 years.
Catalysts:
1. Large amounts of pain or stress (This can be physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, or psychological.).
2. Seeing his wife in any form of danger.
Appearance: In this form, Bleck looks as he did in the video game, his detailed facial features replaced by a crooked, jagged mouth like that of a jack-o-lantern and his non-monocled eye a fiery orb of light. His arms seem to vanish altogether, leaving only a ghostly pair of gloved hands that seem a few inches larger than they should be. His arms and legs also seem to vanish, giving him a floating, spectral appearance that is further amplified by his billowing cape, which seems to move and flutter as though it has a mind of its own.
Personality: Bleck is like a medium between Blumiere and the Bleck of the video game. He can show kindness and compassion, but he is primarily a stoic, eccentric figure with several erratic behavioral patterns, a penchant for his own name, and, perhaps most disturbing, a ruthless drive to fight and fight until his enemy is completely subdued, if not destroyed altogether.
History: N/A (Again, see the story above for this.)
Other: I know that this RPG doesn't perfectly match the video game's storyline, but if you're still reading by this point, you're likely thinking of joining and probably don't care. So don't bother pointing out any discrepancies - I already know about them.
