Grep sucks - it's totally incomprehensible.

Let's try...

AUTHORITY.

mr_pikachu
24th August 2007, 11:25 PM
Grep is awesome. You just need to learn how it works... I can talk you through it via PM, if you like. Just let me know, person who insists on insulting me and undermining my advertising efforts in various threads throughout TPM! :sweat2:

authority: 0-2-7

Blademaster
24th August 2007, 11:33 PM
I'll consider that later.

AMBIGUITY.

mr_pikachu
24th August 2007, 11:35 PM
Let me know. I can also do AIM/MSN, if you like. That might actually be better, now that I think about it.

ambiguity: 1-3-5

Blademaster

The AIM/MSN you're never ON, you mean?

DIRECTORY.

mr_pikachu
24th August 2007, 11:54 PM
The AIM/MSN I get on when people ask me to get on.

Aardvarks!

*lol*

mr_pikachu
25th August 2007, 12:51 AM
^_^;;

aardvarks: 1-1-7

Blademaster
25th August 2007, 12:55 AM
That seems kind of rude to me...

ALABASTER.

mr_pikachu
25th August 2007, 12:58 AM
Rude? How so? I just don't usually get on AIM/MSN unless people tell me they want to talk with me.

alabaster: 0-3-6

Blademaster
25th August 2007, 01:01 AM
I meant rude to bug you when you're doing God-knows-what just to talk... also about God-knows-what.

(Shao Kahn voice)

"BRUTALITY."

mr_pikachu
25th August 2007, 01:03 AM
*shrugs* People do it all the time, really. I'm fine with it, if/whenever you want.

brutality: 0-3-6

Zak

I don't think it's sad, Zak.

Of course YOU wouldn't

Vigilance

Lady Vulpix
25th August 2007, 10:48 AM
I'm sure Zak got it. That would have been my next guess if he hadn't posted it.

mr_pikachu
25th August 2007, 08:03 PM
vigilance: 9-0-0

Hehehe. Well done, Zak. You've earned vigilance! And a special kind of vigilance... can you guess what it is? :D

Zak
26th August 2007, 06:20 AM
I actually can't... care to tell me? :)

Okay, seven letters. Go.

mr_pikachu
26th August 2007, 06:23 AM
Maybe. ^_^;

Anyway, do you own a ukulele?

Shadow Wolf
26th August 2007, 08:07 AM
I love this game. That's why I'm still playing it.

Blademaster
26th August 2007, 01:53 PM
VACUUMS.

Magmar
26th August 2007, 02:44 PM
Constant vigilance! ^___^ :)

Weasley.
As in
Ron Weasley.

Lady Vulpix
27th August 2007, 05:12 PM
How about ukelele?

Zak
27th August 2007, 07:10 PM
I don't own a ukulele or a ukelele.

Ukulele: 0-1-6

Do you like Kakunas?

Lady Vulpix
27th August 2007, 10:32 PM
Ok, let's try tibetan, lowercase for Tibetan.

Zak
28th August 2007, 12:37 AM
Ok, let's try tibetan, lowercase for Tibetan.

What's the difference? Or is this some kinda inside joke...

Kakunas: 0-0-7 :)
Tibetan: 0-2-5

Magmar

Put on a sneaker or two. Preferably, two. :)

Blademaster
28th August 2007, 12:52 AM
Grep broke. -_-'''''

SUICUNE.

mr_pikachu
28th August 2007, 01:09 AM
Hmm. I need to go back through my results, as well. But for now, myrrhol.

Zak

Sneaker: 0-1-6
Suicune: 0-1-6
Myrrhol: 3-2-2 :o

Lady Vulpix

I've grepped out my whole list of words! It's something that's not in the list.

Let's see if epimyth helps.

mr_pikachu
28th August 2007, 06:07 AM
Then it's not just me... I thought I screwed up somewhere. My last guess was as close as I could get, but I knew even it was incorrect.

Okay, um... do you guys like alcohol?

Magmar
28th August 2007, 09:40 AM
...Ptolemy? But it's... definitely wrong..

Shadow Wolf
28th August 2007, 12:22 PM
Is murther derived from murder?

Blademaster
28th August 2007, 01:16 PM
MERRILY.

Zak
28th August 2007, 02:08 PM
Someone's probably gonna get it next guess...

Epimyth: 0-5-2
Alcohol: 1-1-5
Ptolemy: 0-3-4
Murther: 1-3-3
Merrily: 1-4-2

...

Magmar

I know that Mithril is a metal...
But if you google Mythril it seems to be a drug, and fits the description better.

So my guess is Mythril, based on the fact that the letters that remain are those seven.

Blademaster
28th August 2007, 03:25 PM
I'll go with MITHRIL, then.

Zak

I actually did not know that Mythril was a drug, but I'm pretty sure it's an alternate spelling for the metal. It's actually a fictional metal and an invention of Tolkien, which is probably why its not on "grep". But even though thats where it came from, it makes cameos in a lot of Square's games as a really precious metal, Mythril this and Mythril that, and considering the average userbase on these forums I'd assume that at least two of you have even heard of it, so anyway, that's my word.

Magmar

Although you essentially invented the game, please try to avoid using fictional objects. While I'm sure we could make exceptions for Pokemon, seeing as how nearly everybody has at least some connection to the metaseries, I've personally never seen or read a thing from Tolkien, including the movies, so I was put at a disadvantage.

Nevertheless it's time to create a new thread ^_^ since we have 15 pages of this one, it's time to retire it :)

I've never read anything from Tolkien either, but what I meant was that many people on these forums play RPGs and I would have assumed that word would have popped up since I see it a lot. But anyway, its true, I did say to try to avoid that. Someone once used "Nazgul", though. Every once in a while is fine, but not too much. Anyway, onto the new thread...
