Hi everyone :)! My name is Orange Flaaffy and I am brand new to these forums. I am a member of many other pokemon forums under the same name.

I've been a pokemon fan since the anime started when I was in high school and am twenty-four year old now :)

I've been thinking about joining Pokemasters for years now, but something always stopped me..I guess I was a bit... intimidated.

I mostly just read and write pokemon fanfics everywhere I can, along with just talking about writing topics (which always seem to start a debate or two) :)

Fanfic? Part of it may be due to a slower posting rate, but majority of the works aren't the same game/anime-ripped concept again with an inexperienced writing style backing it up, as well as constructive criticism within replies.

I think it's gotten better as far as that overused plot goes :). You still have people coping whichever a well known author is doing at the moment though :P

Hehe, glad you like it. But it says "Fei san dou tin bin". That's from Sailor Moon's Cantonese (southern China dialect) opening. It means something like "I fly with my body towards the horizon" but I am not sure. Perhaps Dark-San would know, he may not speak Cantonese, though. My Chinese teacher said that "bin" has no meaning here, but I disagree. Did I bore you with this language lesson?

Cantonese originates from Guangzhou, which is a Southern Chinese province. So yes, you are right. And also 'bin' does have a meaning. Basically if you pronounced 'tin' alone, it basically means the sky. So adding a 'bin' would only give it a meaning as horizon.

Meh, I am not very fluent in my Cantonese and Hokkien, so don't start cussing me if I am wrong. >.<;

And last, but not least...check out the Polls, Clubs, Games section. A lot of fun games are waiting in this section. Whack-a-TPmer, Lingo, Twisted Wishes and Pokemon Hangman are some of the games on the PCG board.

Most people left as the years went on. That's the thing about a seven-year-old Pokemon forum. All the old members grew out of it, and there weren't enough new people interested in Pokemon to balance it out.
Sure we get great new members like AdventureSerum every now and then, but most people just come in, then leave.
Not to mention, there was a time when the rules were a little stricter than most other forums, which kinda got on people's nerves so they ponced off to lighter places elsewhere. That's pretty much it, most of it was just people growing up and moving on.

My home pokemon forum is seven years old to :). And being twenty-four I don't think there is much chance of me 'growing out' of pokemon ;).
When I have a baby I plan on pasting on the love of pokemon to them to :3

Getting to the topic at hand, a lot of people have said in recent months (and to a lesser extent, the last few years) that TPM is in a state of decline. I have to agree with that to a certain degree; after all, nobody here would argue that the forums are as active as they were in TPM's prime.

But I don't believe that we're still progressing further in that decline. In a small way (certainly not as big as the aforementioned loss of activity), it seems to me that we're getting a small boost, both from new members and from veterans who, like me, don't want to see TPM just fade away.

Not all the forums are seeing this boost; OPB is basically gone, and OPG gets a scant few posts every month or so. TBD is fairly inactive, although that's mainly because there hasn't been much to talk about for awhile.

But in contrast, most of the other forums are still receiving attention, and some in increasing amounts. Fanfic has fairly good streams of activity; I see multiple updates on a daily basis, which is an upswing from a month or so ago. PCG gets perhaps the most attention, a phenomenon which need not be explained. Advanced Generation, while not quite so active lately, still gets interesting topics despite the current lack of TPMBL tournaments (which will continue after I get my real-life stuff sorted out). TCG gets its fair share of topics, as does OA. RPG and ASB also fare well. Misc always has something, and even GD's received some deserved attention the last few weeks.

Personally, I don't think TPM's "dying," as some suggest. Merely that it's entering a different stage of life and growing into a new form, a new type of forum. It's not quite the hyperactive, post-laden place that it was before. There's no denying that. But considering the activity that still persists, maybe that's not such a bad thing.

I just talked about my plans which I had when I was 14 and how Pokémon saved me, "cool my post was noticed by one of the first TPMers" or something in one of them, SPAMming isn't so difficult.

About the activity, I am actually happy with TPM now that I don't have to spend the whole day reading those endless religion topics or 'who is Ash's father'. I know this line shouldn't come from me, after all I post too many questions in Questions Only, steal the fun of the milestone topic, make a long sumary of mr_pikachu's War of the Forums... I put a lot on TPM, but the outcome isn't always good.

And by the way Orange Flaaffy! Magmar likes Sailor Moon, too!

I've been thinking about joining Pokemasters for years now, but something always stopped me..I guess I was a bit... intimidated.

I think it because I remember when the rules were harder. I remember there was one about spelling, and being as I have a learning disablity I think I was frightened you would make fun of me :(

That kind of problem is similar to my problem with English. Since English is my second language (spanish is my first), I take some time to create my posts, because I try to make sure that the words aren't misspelled. (Even this sentence was kinda hard for me to make :sweat2: )

But no worries, I know that no one would be too cruel to do something like making fun of you (at least, not in this forum).


Of course, we have the "Grammar Nazi", but he is a nice guy and he can help anytime.

I'm yet another RPG moderator, and I CO-RULE the forum with Weasel. *stands by Kirst* Roy Karrde thinks he does, but really he lives in a little box and we just feed him enough sugar so he doesn't get hungry. :p

If you like pokemon fan fiction, I encourage you to perhaps take a gander at the RPG forum. Occasionally we have pokemon-based RPGs which are great little tools for doing little mini-story posts here and there. ^_^

No, that's what homos like me get. Every time we kiss another guy, the power and strength of our AIDS increases tenfold. Right now I have approximately 6.022 x 10^23 AIDS. And that's how I passed Chemistry.
