~~Endless Horizon~~
As far as the eye can see....

Close your eyes....what do your senses tell you that your eyes cannot?

In the soft dark you can hear it, the roar of the ocean. In the gentle breeze you can smell it, the salty air of the sea.

The smell of freedom and excitement, adventure and the unknown.

Open your eyes. The bright sun blinds you for a moment, but soon your eyes adjust, and you see it---two shades of deep blue divided by an unseeable line. The sea and the sky.

Youve always lived here, its always been what you know. The mystery and beauty of the ocean, powerful and yet gentle, kind and yet at times, angry and turbulent. But always it is there, and ever present part of your life. The coming and going of the waves is familiar to you, and yet is a part of the ever changing ocean. This is your life, whether you be a fisherman or a dock-worker, a marine biologist or a watcher of sea life. Whether you be tied to the sea to make your living, or just love the feel of the water under your feet, the ocean is what you know.

Though, no one really knows all its mysteries, especially in these early times of exploration. It is June 7th, 1734 AD on the beautiful island of Serenity, in the Pacific Ocean. The day began like normal, the morning sun rose from the horizon, turning both sea and sky orange, then gold, and then both became deep blue as the sun continued to rise. People rose from sleep and began to go about their daily activities, whatever they would be. But today was different from other days, for something new appeared on the horizon. Something new, and semingly impossible.

A majestic ship appeared, a first a tiny dot on the horizon at dawn, but as the sun rose it grew closer, and finally came to dock at the islands main port. But the stragest part was not its arrival, for when the ship was investigated it was found to have no crew. Somehow it navigated its way to this island with no human direction. Something about it calls to you, and with no fear of the unknown, you and others who are curious step aboard, and begin to explore. Just as the last person boards the deck, the ship departs, as if it knew what went on around it, as if it had chosen these people.

They knew not what, but one thing was for sure....

It would be...an adventure....

This is set in the 1700s on a fantasy island, but since its a fantasy the sea will be filled with all kinds of fantastic creatures. Also, use your imagination on your characters ^-~ Lots of unusual things will happen along the course of this journey, so be prepared for anything ^-~

Let the journey begin! ^-^ LSUs Welcome for a limited time!

Name: Kailani Kelby

Age: 19

Gender: Female

Appearance: Long, slightly wavy ocean blue hair, dark green eyes. Usually wore cut off light blue jeans, a green tank top and a white vest with the kanji symbol for ‘Fish’ on the back (if anyone can show me a pic of this symbol Ill be very grateful ^v^ I want to draw a picture) Has a necklace with a sharks tooth entwined in leather around her neck. Does a lot of wading and so usually goes around barefoot. Is a bit more tan than most other people she knows, due to the fact she spends most of her time outside near the docks.

Personality: A very emotional person, she usually has a very cheerful air about her. Easy going and mellow, but if something sets her off, she leaves a trail of destruction in her wake. Its hard to tell her current emotion as it shifts as fast as her thoughts, but overall shes a loyal, kind person. Wont go out of her way to make friends but is glad to have them. Relatively quiet but not anti-social, she talks to people only when she feels she needs to.

Occupation/skills: Very good at fishing, also knows knot tying and can navigate by the stars. Also likes to sing, and plays the flute as a hobby. Is good at swimming, but feels funny about ocean animals.

History: For all of her life she has lived as part of a fishing family. She was raised on the salty smell of the sea and the rise and fall of the ocean. She went to school but most of the technological and mathmatical things didnt interest her, she was mostly interested in science, most specifically the constellations and the affect of the moon on the tides. She wanted to understand everything about what she considered her true home--the ocean. She always liked to stay in shape, and she felt martial arts in addition to swimming, was a great way to keep her body fit. Practiced aikido for 5 years, and found it to not only help get her body in shape but also her oftentimes turbulent mind. Lives with her father and 4 brothers. Can be quite the tomboy ^-^()

Weapons/Tools: Has a fishing pole, a fishing net and a couple of spears. She was about to go fishing when the ship came so she had all her fishing gear with her. Is good at making use of just about anything if need be.

What about the ship drew you to it?: The grace with which it moved through the water, it conveyed a sense of mystery and excitement.

Worst fear: Being in the water and feeling an animal or even anything brush against her, even if its a piece of seaweed XD Shes not afraid of the creatures IN the water, she just gets freaked out by that feeling lol

Other: Is open honest and aloof, doesnt understand why anyone would lie so sometimes is a bit gullible lol Sometimes being gullible is her weakness, but other times her frank-ness and way of pointing out things gets her out of trouble.

~Kailani Kelby~
I used to say that I would race the seagulls.....

"Ee.... yaren soran soran soran soran soran! Hai Hai!!!" The waves glistened with the midday sun as I sat on the warm wooden dock, fishing and singing a song to myself. This day was turning out great, I had caught four fish already and only needed about two more before I could go home for lunch. The fish were large, which was a good thing because my brothers and my dad had hearty appitites. Of course, so did I.
Grinning up at the sun which had kissed my skin a nice golden tan, I continued to sing to myself, enjoying the day and all life had to offer. "Yaren soran soran dokkoisho, dokkoisho!"

This was the kind of day which made you wonder, how can life get any better than this? All I needed was a fishing pole and the vast expanse of clear cool ocean in front of me, a salty breeze through my hair and the bright warm sun on my face. Just recently I had recieved my second dan in Aikido, an accomplishment I was proud of. I believe that nothing is impossible, and I strove to keep my body in the greatest shape it could be. One day I wanted to live on the open ocean, it was my dream to be one of the fisherman they wrote songs about, living a strenuous life on the open sea. To me, the ocean was my true home, land was just a place to visit.
"Soran soran dokkoisho, dokkoish--WHOA!" Suddenly my fishing line almost jerked the pole out of my hands. I quickly stood up and braced my feet on the edge of the dock and pulled, striving to yank this fighting fish out of the water. Though I was very strong, the suddenness of this fish had me off balance, and it soon looked as if I would need to cut the line. But NO! This fish was huge I could tell! It would be a crime to let it go!

As I wrestled with the shiny underwater fighter, I glanced at the horizon, and what I saw fast approaching caused me to stare in surprise. It was a great ship, streamlined and beautiful, with full white sails. It cut through the water almost silently, the waves rippling in its wake. Stunned at the sight I took it all in----before the fish, who hadnt taken a time out to watch the ship pull into harbor, gave a hard yank, sending me face first into the sparkling blue water.
Coughing and sputtering I bobbed to the surface, staring up at the ship which loomed closer with every moment. With a start I realised something, this ship was missing something---a BIG something. There was no crew! For a ship that size to have a crew less than 20 people was miraculous, let alone have NO ONE AT ALL! Curiousity swelled inside me like high tide, I had to see what was going on with this strange occurance.

As I climbed out of the water and strode to the gangplank, I saw that I was not alone. Many people had joined me in my curiousity, people of all different sizes, ages and walks of life. Some I knew, some Ive never seen, but all were wearing the same look of wonder on thier faces. As we all boarded we began to wander the ship, searching for any signs of life. Within moments of the last person boarding, the ship once again took a life of its own, and headed out into the unknown.
At first I was startled, what was happening? How was it happening? Most of the other people on the ship seemed to be asking themselves the same question. Some even tried to get back onto the dock, but the ship was pulling out of port faster than if it were just powered by wind. As the island we had all called home got smaller and smaller, the mood on the ship calmed down a bit. We all realised that we were stuck at the moment and couldnt really do much about it. The ship seemed to make it clear that we were all in it for the long run. Looking forward at the vast expanse of sea, I felt a small smile creep onto my face. I could live with that...
Some of us wandered around the ship and down below deck, so I decided to give in to my own curiousity. Moving around to the helm of the ship, I saw that at first glance all appeared normal, despite the fact their was no captain. But when I took a closer look, I saw that next to it, where the navigational equipment would usually be, was a translucient blue, green and silver orb. What purpose it served I didnt know, and ignoring all instincts of caution, I touched it.
Suddenly a wave of light blue washed over the orb, and the helm abruptly turned. Whatever happened, whatever I did, somehow it changed the course of the ship. The others soon realised this and came over to where I was with questioning looks on their faces. "What happened?" One of them asked.
I shrugged. "I have no idea....I dont know how its moving by itself," I said sheepishly, and then a strange feeling came to me. A feeling like something was familiar.
"But I have a feeling that the ship knows where its going..."

Ill post for David later, once everyone else has a chance to post ^-^ This first post should give everyone a chance to show what their character did before the ship came to port, and also the circumstances that led them to being a passenger on it. PM me if you have any questions or any ideas for mysterious things to find on the ship. Remember, use your imaginations ^-~
Also, I have a character that I still havent posted the sign up for, and that char will be a surprise for everyone so keep your eyes open!

Name: Sirius Pew
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance: Rather youthful in appearance with dark hair (some say black, others reason a very dark blue) falling messily over his left eye. His eyes take on a reddish hue and his face is slightly pale. He wears a white undershirt and a dark blue coat with many pockets and seems a bit big for him (the sleeves have been rolled up for this reason). He also wears dark coloured (like his hair, it’s up for debate) trousers with brown suspenders and brown boots. It commonly seen with a purple beret on his head.
Personality: Is very quiet and distant, and often comes off as shy. He’s normally seen sitting on his own drawing something or writing something down. He’s only ‘socialise’ with people if utterly necessary (such as if someone talks to him or he needs to show someone something). “Socialise” is used loosely as Sirius never, EVER talks. Whether this is because he can’t or simply wont is up for debate.
Occupation/skills: He has incredible skill in drawing and story writing. Infact, amongst the many pockets of his coat you’ll find pictures and note and stories and all sorts of things. He has a photographic memory, making him perfect for a map maker and chronicler.
History: Sirius grew up alone with his sickly mother, after their father disappeared. (some say he died, others he joined a pirate crew and others that he ran off with another woman). Sirius was a shy boy growing up, not getting the chance to socialise and often spent his time drawing, writing and looking after his mother. He developed a small reputation amongst his home town by his refusal to speak a single word, causing many people to wonder what his voice might sound like.
Weapon/Tools: He carries a great deal of art supplies, pens, pieces of paper, and a large leather bound book in the many pockets of his large coat..
What about the ship drew you to it?: It was the design of it that lured him on board. He wanted to sketch it down and clean it off later, but when he needed to get off, the ship already departed.
Worst fear: Is a bit claustrophobic, which is why being trapped on a boat isn’t exactly his ideal life style. He’s also nervous around large amounts of people.
Other:

Sirius Pew
-----------------------------------------------

Sirius had a great view of the town from his location, perched up on top of a pile of crates sitting next to a store. No one seemed to have noticed the young, quiet artist quietly drawing the landscape in front of him, and to be perfectly honest, that’s how Pew wanted it. He wasn’t one to talk to others, heck, he wasn’t one to talk at all. All he wanted to do, was sit in piece and quiet and draw and write, that was all. Was that so wrong?

He had just made his finishing touches on his piece of the town scare, which oddly enough appeared completely empty, despite the people walking about in front of him. He was never good at drawing people. They constantly kept moving about, so he resorted to simply leaving them out.

It was then that he saw it. A large ship, beautiful in its design, sliding gracefully into port. What captivated his attention was its design, but what also caught his notice was that there seemed to be absolutely nobody on it, in completely contrast to every other ship which at least had a crew. He couldn’t see anyone coming out to greet this ship either, something also curious.

Silently he slid off his perch on the crates, tucking his drawing pad under his arm before striding towards the ship. As usually, nobody seemed to notice him as he quickly walked out onto the docks. He saw nobody approaching so far and with the curiosity getting the better of him, he slowly strode up the gangplank, looking onto the deck to confirm what he first noticed.

There was absolutely nobody aboard this ship.

Sirius slowly stepped onto the deck, looking around. He wondered quietly what the ship could possibly look on the inside. With his sketch pad and art supplies in hand, he quickly made his way below deck.

--------------*~*--------------

Sirius had to admit, the ship was beautifully designed. Even the interior was something he hadn’t seen before. He had taken a seat in what was the crew quarters and was now quickly sketching the design of the room. It was almost soothing. The quiet, the gentle rocking of the boat.

However, the silence was broken by the sound of footsteps on the deck above. Sirius gulped. Either the actual crew of this ship were back, of others had climbed on as well. Rather than take any chances of getting into trouble, the silent artist figured he’d better get off the boat quick.

Trying to remain as quiet as possible, he quickly snuck up to the deck. His face paled then at what he saw.

They were no longer at the dock. During his time below deck, the ship had pulled away, leaving him stranded on the ship. Furthermore, he wasn’t alone, and he had no idea what these people would do if they found a stowaway on their ship.

Rather than risk finding out, the silent young man slowly slinked back down to the crew quarters.

----------------------
Ok, just for clarity's sake, noone knows that Sirius' on the ship. He snuck on before anyone else and didn't notice it leaving until too late. Anyone finding him remember that he doesn't talk.

Name: Samuel "Bite" Goodfellow

Age: 46

Gender: Male

Appearance: The years have not been kind to Samuel. Though pale, his skin has been wrinkled and crusted from the sun and the sea. His hair, almost more green than brown, is kept in a small braid in the back of his head, revealing cold grey eyes. A portly build fills black knickers, brown boots, and a short dark blue working shirt. The most noticeable feature, though, is what gives him his nickname- a sizable chunk of his right arm is missing, showing about an inch of bare bone.

Personality: Although he used to be kind, the word is now closer to just. Samuel is a realist but an optimist. Usually grim and sarcastic, it would take a force of nature for him to crack a smile. An exceptional leader and decision maker if given the chance.

Occupation/skills: Innate understanding of a ship's rigging; cooking and cleaning

History: Samuel had a swashbuckling good time as a boy captain, amassing grand treasures only to lose them to a mutiny that included walking the plank into a circle of sharks. Wading his way to the Isle of Serenity, he went through a succession of odd jobs on the dock before inheriting a tavern from his employer after a bad deal left the latter deceased.

Weapon/Tools (no guys?): a light cooking set, including a few pots and pans, a small mallet, and a few knives, along with a blade sharpener; also, an accordion

What about the ship drew you to it?: As painful as the memory of my last adventure was, one would be foolhardy not to pass up such a grand opportunity

Worst fear: Seeing shadows in the water, such as that of the shark that bit his arm

Other: A very gruff bass-baritone voice just shy of gargling; known to drink when off-duty

>Bite<
And I had just gotten off-duty...

The door slammed, as it always did, when Old Man McKinney finally left at a quarter to six, signaling the end of the night owls' reign on my bar. Of course, the door then squeaked as it opened up just to a crack, something I had been meaning to fix sometime.

The break between night owls and early birds, however, is painfully short; a moving shadow in the light coming from the stained glass in the front of my tavern warned of more sailors coming in, looking for booze and grub.

But the shadow stopped, turned, and darted in the opposite direction. More shadows headed in that direction as well. What kind of fight happened at O'Shelby's pub this time? I thought to myself, thinking of the building next to mine as I set down the glass I was cleaning and went around the bar. When I looked out the door, no one was at the bar, same as mine. Where are they going, then?

It was then that I saw it. Glowing in the morning sun, the sails of a foreign ship rose against familiar ones. It was there, I knew, that people had gone. And it was there, I knew, that people would be hungry.

I only headed out there to sell food. I figured I could get a massive haul from these new traders, so I packed some meat and butter, a bit of cookware, and other things I might need, including a change of clothes- that Flying Shrimp Surprise always was a bit messy.

As well as my stubby legs could carry my rotund figure and heavy load, I trotted down to the docks only to find no new faces. Astonished, I climbed aboard. "Who here is ready to try the greatest cuisine this side of the Mediterranean?" I proclaimed.

"We've all heard that before," a man with a bird on his shoulder replied. "Nobody new here."

"Well what's this ship got then? It certainly couldn't have floated into port by itself."

But I had spoken too soon. A blue flash sprung from below decks and the ship righted itself and began sailing out of port. By itself, it flew in and out.

Into the sea. Where sharks are. Just spectacular.

By the way, Asi, a quick Wiki check thinks 魚類 is Japanese for fish. Hopefully it shows up for you.
