Leveling

I was wondering how much time people spend time just leveling. I myself grind excessively but my friend just levels as needed.

As for myself, I don't much grinding until I need it. On my Pearl game, that meant pushing through about 12 extra levels before finally clearing the E4 - with, I might add, about 80 Hyper Potions, numerous Max Potions, and something like 30 Revives. If I can get myself up to tournament-level skill, I'll probably start doing careful EV training at the higher levels. Aside from that, though, I tend to do more blitzing through the game.
