While Googling for something, I stumbled upon an irrelevant topic made in a forum that asked a question I thought was kinda cool - what was your favourite toy as a kid?
For me, it was easily the remarkable Whiskers. While visiting my cousin in Australia in 1992, I stumbled upon this dinky little stuffed cat that she had in a collection of things she never touched anymore. For whatever reason it is that a kid falls in love with these things, I became infatuated with it. Fortunately she was more than willing to part with it, and after my sister gave him a name (which is handy because I had been naming my characters crap like Super Kitty at that point), he was all set to go.

There he is - note the missing patches of fur; that's how much he got around. I took him with me everywhere (with the exception of the obvious places like the bath and school). He went on all sorts of fantastic adventures, and in my years of crappy storytelling he was often a recurring role. I never really gave him any negative qualities, I guess I projected perfection onto this little toy. Bizarre.
Before Whiskers came along, the one who got all the love and travelling was Sarge. My Tonka Pooch Patrol dog. These things were fantastic...

Here's Sarge, all lovin' and carin'. But when a ghost attacked, or he got drunk...

He was a mean old bastard.
They had this great advertising campaign (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAROwVp-xCg) for these things as companions who would scare away ghosts, and it sure as hell worked - I felt safe having Sarge around. Christ, if I were suddenly attacked by a ghost today I may even brandish Sarge like some sort of holy cross, threatening to bear his teeth. ...Yeah, I doubt that'll happen. But still. Best to be prepared.
So what have you got?
