View Full Version : Warcraft I for Mac- no background Music?

I have been playing Warcraft I on my G3 Macintosh, and I noticed that there is no background music. I had played the game on an older computer before, and it had background music, but now it doesn't.

Anyone have an idea what would cause the background music to not play?

The Warcraft manual says that if you don't have Sound Manager 3.1 or higher, the music won't play.
I have a higher version, so I don't think that would be the problem.

My computer specs, if that helps any:
I am running OS 9.2
233Mhz G3 processor
96Mb RAM (150Mb total Ram [virtual RAM included])

Anyone know what the problem is?

1. Because I hadn't played it in years.
2. I can have fun without having to buy other games. :D
3. Because I want to. Games don't have to be new to be fun.

I just thought there was a chance that someone out there had some helpful information instead of acting surprised.

Well, today, we act suprised when you play that game. Go play starcraft or something. (I'm assuming you have it, seeing as it is the best blizzard game out right now)

I bought it a while ago, only because it was the only warcraft game I didn't have. I've probably played it for about an hour in that time. As for the sound issues, you can't really do much about it, its so... OLD :o

I guess noone here knows much about Warcraft I on a Mac.
I guess I will play without music.

And no, I don't have Starcraft.
There is no reason to buy starcraft when I haven't finished Warcraft yet.

?_? You dont need to "finish" warcraft to get starcraft. You can buy both starcraft and the expansion for like 15 dollars. It's a way better game, has a lot more depth, and a lot more replay value (battle.net).

Yes, Starcraft is one of the best PC games out there. It's probably the only PC game I play. Hell, once I get my iBook, that will be the only computer game I plan to install on it.
