In the early 2100's mankind, having colonized mars and successfully built space colonies, finally discovered the underlying principles of what is now known as Drive Space. This achievement finally granted FTL travel, allowing reasonable travel times to regions in the immediately surrounding sectors of the galaxy, and introducing mankind to the galactic community.

This event, called "Human Contact" by the galactic community, changed everything for mankind. No longer could they hold the view that the universe was their oyster, while at the same time they didn't have to worry about being alone in the universe. The United Earth Government(UEG) eventually decided to join the organization known as the Congregation of Sentient Minds, which would be rather analogous to a more effective UN.

Shortly after Human Contact, the CSM sponsored The Sojourn, a mass free-form exploration project. Anyone could participate, and the crew of any ship was guarenteed a 50% share of any valuable claims found by them.

A thousand years have passed since then, by human reckoning, with three further Sojourns having been called, and fourteen years since the Taxarian Contact War, when the Taxarians announced their presence on the galactic stage by assaulting human occupied planets.

Now, to help ease galactic tensions, the Congregation has announced the fifth Sojourn. You are a crewmember of the Hummingbird Phoenix, a fairly small ship. Are you ready for your Sojourn?

Glossary:
Taxarians: A reptillian humanoid race, with males standing roughly eight to nine feet tall, and females standing roughly six feet tall. Known for the use of nanotech to make members of the Imperial Taxarian Army into combat cyborgs, further enhancing their physical abilities. Can live as long as 150 years without chemicals to extend lifespan.

The Thelar: A quadrupedal sentient species humans tend to liken to big wolves with differing colorations, they are typically found employed in jobs involving security or law enforcement. Usually live to 70-80 years old.

Hummingbird Phoenix: An older starship, roughly 120 years in age, and has had several overhauls through the years to update necessary systems. Vaguely triangular in shape, it can be manned by as few as five people in an emergency, but can hold up to 30 people comfortably.

You may, if you wish, submit your own alien race to use, via PM.

Cook(not necessary, since there are synthesizers, but hand made stuff usually tastes better):
Maintenance/Engineers: Alissa(Dominus), Sul
Security:Roy's char
Entertainment(also secondary):

My Char:
Name: Alissa Crossroad
Age:36
Gender: Female
Personality: Fairly laid back and friendly. Is jumpy and suspicious of any and all Taxarians. She has a hobby of sampling various forms of alcohol or getting full blown drunk at times. Harbors a lot of buried pain.
Appearance: Alissa appears to be a fit 22 year old, standing at 5'10", with long brown hair in a ponytail behind her and blue eyes. She's normally found in jeans and a T-shirt, wearing heavy duty boots. When working, she wears a rag on her head and gloves. Notably, her arms and body bear a lot of scars.
Skills/Abilities: She's fairly well versed in maintenance and engineering, and is unafraid of getting dirty. She's also displayed an inhuman level of durability and strength, as well as surviving an airlock accident once by holding her breath far longer than she should have been able to.
History: Alissa is the sole survivor of one of the Taxarian attacks on a human space colony known as Sheperd's Rest. She and her family were touring her father's workplace in a research facility when the attack occurred, and she was put into a coma, and woke a couple weeks later to find that the few remaining scientists, now dead, had reverse engineered and improved upon the Taxarian Army's nanotechnology and used it to make her into a cyborg. She subsequently fought and escaped from the occupying Taxarians, killing many more of them than they thought possible.
Immediately after the war, Alissa assumed a different name and essentially vanished into the woodwork, drifting from ship to ship, station to station, picking up maintenance skills on the way. She has been with the Hummingbird for four years now.

Name: Sul Iraksu
Age: 41
Race: Taxarians
Gender: Male
Personality: Quiet most of the time with a sharp tongue the rest. Sul considers himself lucky that he escaped the war with little more than some bad memories. His intellect runs constantly, and he is thinking about many things at once. Even as a member of the Taxarian military, he never saw the war to be a good idea. More could have been learned if they entered in with open minds instead of a blood lust. He holds no grudge against the humans or the Council, despite the grudge many bear towards his race. Has a habit to hiss at bad jokes or when thinking, flicking his tongue in and out.
Appearance: Sul is tall for a male, at just a bit over nine feet tall. With a dark coloration, nearly black, that makes him difficult to see in low light. His eyes are reptilian with a piercing orange iris and stand out against his dark complexion. He wears little clothing, but has one bandoleer of tools, gadgets, and equipment around his waist. Thin, even though he was trained as a soldier, his specialties never gave them much reason to put him on the frontlines. His synthetic left arm has fake skin covering it that allows it to resemble his regular coloration. The arm can be detached and reattached, but it hurts like hell when done. The back of his head has a crown of seven inch spikes that are elongated scales, colored with white stripes.
Skills/Abilities: Navigation and mechanic. During the Taxarian Contact War, Sul was drafted and his abilities in technology and fast mind made him invaluable to the war effort and he was sought after by many ships who wanted this gifted male. He can program jump coordinates as fast if not faster than the navigation equipment, usually with better accuracy and time. Take machinery apart looking for a specific part and can jury-rig something to make it work for a short duration. He can also come up with plans on the spot, hack through some computer systems, and is your general techie.
History: Sul was from a clutch of seven, one of the middle children. His father was part of the military operation and voiced some strong considerations to the expanding military for launching an offensive. Some of this rubbed off on Sul at a young age, who’s intellect was recognized and encouraged by his mother. His siblings each had their own interests, but banded together as an effective unit in their home area. When Sul was 16, his parents were killed because of their opposition to the militarization, leaving the children on their own. Swooping in, the military brass acquired Sul and his siblings and had them reared in a military run orphanage where they tried to be brainwashed into thinking that the military expansion was a good idea. The siblings stayed together with Sul using his mental strengths to formulate some plans to foil the attempts. However, they were separated as the siblings reached the proper age for recruitment. Sul’s siblings were further separated, leaving him alone. He finished the orphanage and was drafted. During his first tour of duty as the war started, the ship he was on was attacked, and their navigation computer damaged. Kicking the head navigator out of the seat he re-calculated a path to escape the assault and back to a base. Praised for his actions, his skills were starting to become top requested by a number of field officers.

He was transferred to a siege unit as their main technician and through a fluke ended up going on foot as the battalion attacked a civilian station. Sul, on the ground was sickened by the death his race was causing, and he tried to help a family escape the carnage by acting like he was going after them. He got them past the troops by using the service system of the station and saw them off. The mother asked him why he was helping them, and he told them: “My family was taken and broken because of this endeavor. I don’t agree with what my race is doing, and won’t let your family be destroyed like mine.” Sul got the family to safety while also avoiding any reprimands from his commanders.

After fourteen years the war had come to an end, and Sul left the Taxarian army, searching for his family. Of his clutch, only 3 others remained, the rest had died on the frontlines or disappeared in the chaos. He doesn’t blame the other races for defending themselves, but he does not trust the government of his own race for what it did to his family. When the Sojourn was announced, Sul was intrigued by the prospect to heal tensions with his race and show that not all were beasts controlled by a blood-lust. The dangers of an exploratory mission would be great, and he offered his hand at navigating and helping with maintenance, repairs, and other mechanic responsibilities.
Other: Unlike the soldiers, Sul hasn’t been infused with the nanotech to increase his strength or abilities. However his left arm was severed during an attack and is now replaced with what could be described as an omni-tool in the guise of an arm. The tool can be any kind of tool needed for the task at hand, coming from a hatch in his fore-arm, controlled by voice command. He also has made various gadgets that aid in his abilities as a navigator, such as a small visor on the side of his head that sends him up-to-the-minute readings on systems checks of the ship, computer systems, and other essentials. He holds no grudge against the other races for the war that his people started, but he wishes to try and ease the tensions by offering his hand in cooperation.

Got a bit creative with the Taxarian race, hope it fits.

good job, only two things, 1. the war ended 14 years ago, and lasted for 2 VERY bloody years. Second, if he WAS in the army, he likely would have heard tales about the "Shepherd Anomaly" as a sort of bogeyman. Overall, accepted.
