Giving this another go <3
~Time After Time~
In the beginning, there were the High Ones.
They traveled through the stars in palaces made from their former world, seeking an endless life of peace and learning. From their dying world they rescued the burrowers and the flyers; they gave them the gift of knowing ones self and from then on they were the High Ones constant companions. In the flyers webs they slept, choosing an existance of mind rather than form, but it was in this choice, this casting off of ones outer shell, that became their undoing.
For the burrowers had begun to entertain notions of rebellion. Why exist as the Sleeping Ones servants when the palace could be theirs? In a moment of betrayal, the High Ones lives were violently jolted into the world of the Physical. And from that point on, the World of Two Moons would never be the same....
Indeed, the High Ones were the beginning. As their palaced crashed to the strange primitive world, many died by Troll hands while still sleeping in the webs of the Preservers. The ones that survived, stumbled confused and battered from their ship to find a world raw and wild. Humans, the native species, were little more than beasts and attempts made for peace ended with confused, frightened violence. It was a hard lesson for the High Ones in those early days. When once they cast off their physical forms, they found this world stranded them in their bodies. Magic worked weakly if at all. They sought learning once but now, they learned what pain was, and hunger. And fear.
But those who survived, those who were strong, learned also how to adapt. Though the World of Two Moons changed them and their children through the generations, in appearance and in blood...
Rayek knew this story all too well. Ever since his mentor, Ekuar, died at the hands of the Mountain trolls he had obsessed over the Scroll of Colors inside of the Lost Palace of the High Ones, obsessed over the great mistake his ancestors had made in trusting the trolls. And for the millionth time since that day over 20 years ago, he obsessed over how most of this had to also be Cutters fault. The beastial chieftain of the Wolfriders, whose war with the humans had caused him to lead his filthy tribe of half beasts to Rayeks home in Sorrows End. He fumed as he remembered losing to him in the trials of Head Hand and Heart, and how Cutter had gone and Recognised his lovemate, taking her from him!
The darkness grew in Rayeks eyes as he remembered living peacefully with the Gobacks in their snowy lodge, until Cutter brought the War with the Trolls unto him. He remembered Kaavi, his Goback lovemate, telling him his child was stillborn, remembered how the Gobacks had allowed the trolls to take Ekuar. Everything in this World of Two Moons was tainted, it had all caused him pain. If only the Wolfrider chief had never left his home! If only the trolls had been left behind to die on the High Ones homeworld! If only that Great Mistake had never happened, could be undone.....
Tears of rage and anguish stung his eyes, but purpose took their place as he recalled his plan.
"There are still children of the High Ones who retain the powers of old, whether they are aware of them or not." He spoke to himself in a low fevered tone. Smiling a pained smile of maddened hope, he focused his power into the palace, causing it to reverberate its call across miles. "The Palace of the High Ones lures its children with a call stronger than Recognition," Rayek called aloud, a strength in his voice that had been missing for years. "The closer they are the stronger it will be. But this call is strong no matter how far, and is meant for but a few. We need no Preservers, we need no Troll Servants, the mistakes of our forefathers will not be ours. We will fulfill the dreams of those who came before."
He closed his eyes and felt the call flow through him, grinning with a hopeful childish delight.
"Come, we will leave this tainted world, and become High Ones ourselves!"
And thats where you come in ^-~
The original High Ones were talented magic users, and because of that, in almost all of the four tribes some of the high ones old powers have resurfaced in later generations. In this RPG you will play one of Rayeks Chosen, one of the Elves that retain an exceptionally strong magical skill. The call feels like a very strong desire to go home, like being homesick although your character will have never been to the palace before. It is unavoidable, and should you try to resist that call you will become physically ill. Its a need that cant be denied, and it will hit you suddenly so keep in mind your character could be anywhere and doing anything when it comes upon you.
Ok, onto my favorite part; the character creating ^v^:
Elves: The elves of this world are all descended from the High Ones, the tall regal looking elves which came from the sky in their palace. Generally the elves of today are shorter (unless they are VERY old) have smooth skin and soft hair and large pointed ears. With the exception of one tribe, they cannot die of old age but can be killed with violence, injury or disease. While personality traits vary from tribe to tribe, as a general rule they love life and love to socialize with one another. What sets them apart from every other race on the planet is that they "Recognise". This means that two elves see each other and suddenly their souls are connected. Its not like love at first sight, sometimes two elves who have Recognised each other will not even like each other, but they will have a need to mate that cant be denied, to do so will make both phisically sick and could even cause them to die if they resist long enough. The purpose is to produce an offspring with the best traits from each parent, and in all tribes but one this is the only way children are born. Your character may or may not have recognised someone, if so you will most definately either have children or have one on the way.(Gestation period for elves is 2 years, the woman doesnt start showing til the second year) Most recognised couples only have one child though some continue to have children if they become Lifemates. Twins are a rarity and have only happened once to my knowledge so if you want to be one of a twin PM me and Ill see.
When Recognised, both parties instantly know each others Soul Names (see char sheet).
Elves can also Send: Like telepathy, there are open sends(to multiple people at once) and closed sends(in private one on one). Its the most intimate form of communication. All elves have the ability but some may just not develop it or know how. All Wolfriders know how, as well as the Gliders, but there may be some Sun Folk and GoBacks that dont know how. In Sending, there is only truth, you cant tell a lie while your sending because when sending souls touch souls, its pure like that.
Height - some elves, notably Savah and most of the Gliders, are as tall as or taller than humans, though generally thinner. Most of the Wolfriders, Sun Folk and Go-backs are much shorter following long generations of adaptation, and have an average height of around 4 feet (120 cm).
~Elf Tribes:~
The Wolfriders: Led by Cutter, Blood of Ten Chiefs, the Wolfriders are the descendant of the High One Timmain (She was a shapeshifter and when her people went hungry around her, she shifted into the shape of a wolf to hunt for them. But over time she stayed in wolf form longer and longer until she wasnt seen anymore by her elven kin....until one day she returned with a half wolf, half elf child, Timmorn Yellow-Eyes, who became the first chief of what became the Wolfriders.). Each wolfrider has some wolf blood in them, and their wolves are like family to them. They are usually pale, as they prefer forest living and sleeping in the daytime. They live and love with passion, are wild and fierce but gentle and nurturing to their own kind. From age 6 they bond with a newborn wolf cub, which will grow to be their first Wolf-friend. Because of their wolf blood, Wolfriders are the only tribe that can die of old age---though old age for them ranks upward from 600. They have a deep rooted aversion to humans, and a moderate magical skill surfaces in a few members of this tribe. Their current Holt (The traditional home of the Wolfriders, typically a giant tree whose rooms have been shaped by a treeshaper. If a big enough tree isnt availiable the treeshaper will grow one to the required size.) is in the Forbidden Grove, which they share with the Preservers. They tend to dress in fine leathers, traditionally in muted colors but more recently taking on a brighter look.
The Sun Folk:Led by the respected Sun Toucher and Savah, the Mother of Memory, the Sun folk are the peaceful residents of Sorrows End, a small oasis in the middle of the Burning Waste. Savahs parents crossed the burning waste with her when she was only a small child, many thousands of years ago, to found the small farming village. Most of the residents are peaceful and laid-back, prefering to let things take their course rather than enact change. The Sun folk have brown skin and dress in silks in a variety of bright colors. Many wear woven hats to keep the sun off while they work. The Sun folk are one of the two races with high magical skill in a few of their people. Most Sun Folk have never seen a human and have lived in relative peace for generations.
The Gobacks: The opposite of the Sun Folk in every way. Living in the snowy mountains they live hard and often die young, but to them death is just a part of life. They ride large antlered deer and because of that use a lot of deer references in their speech (giving birth is called 'fawning' ect). Gobacks treat magic with either disdain or indifference, as surviving for them is based on how strong and hardy they are physically. They hate trolls as much as Wolfriders hate humans, and they party hard the night before they go off to battle. Typically dress in warm furs, they are pale with dark hair and light eyes. They are the only tribe that can concieve outside of Recognition.
The Gliders They are the closest to being High Ones of any of the tribes. Magic runs very strong in them, and they get their name from their ability to levitate in the air for long periods of time effortlessly. They used to inhabit Blue Mountain until it was destroyed and all of the Gliders killed except for a select few. (Sign ups closed for Glider race)
There are also a sub tribe of elves called the Jack-Wolf Riders. They are Sun Folk that have taken up the hunt under the leadership of Dart, a young Wolfrider that has lived in Sorrows End almost all his life. Their wolves are actually wolf mixes, they are wolves that have mated with the jackals in the desert. If you want to be one of these PM me. Also half breeds among the tribes are allowed but please make it make sense LOL
There are 3 other races you can choose to be besides elves:
Humans:Think Tool age, they live off the land, fight off invaders and tend to be slightly superstitious of things they dont understand. Some may reguard the Elves as like gods or spirits, and others will think of them as invaders and demons. Their skin is bronzed and slightly worn from toiling in the sun and their hair and eyes are dark.
There will be 3 tribes so if you are one of the first to be a human you may make up the tribe name and how they live. Any questions post in the topic or PM me.
Trolls:Shorter than even the elves, they are stocky and muscular, with green skin and big downturned noses. Their tiny eyes shun daylight and they prefer to live underground. Many are greedy and seek treasure of metals and gems, and being skilled metal workers they like making weapons and trinkets of the things they find. (Im only allowing one of these so if you want to be one Pm me or post here and Ill approve you)
Preservers: Small genderless faerie-like creatures with butterfly wings, the preservers are fun loving and innocent, though they can be mischievious. They like to wrap things up in their sticky webs they shoot from their mouths, which they call "wrapstuff". They live in the Forbidden Grove with the Wolfriders. They have a funny way of talking so if your curious go here (http://us.geocities.com/mossrockholt/PerserverG.html). (Im allowing at MOST 2 of these, so as usual if you want one post here or PM me.)
~Powers~
~Treeshaper:Can make living plants grow faster, make seeds grow instantly, and can shape tree limbs to form bows and other weapons. Treeshapers made the Holts that the Wolfriders call home. (Outlaw JT)
~Rockshaper:Can shape rock in much the same way that treeshapers shape plants. Easily molds stone like clay to form objects, paths through a mountain ect. The Rockshapers of the High Ones actually formed the palace of the high ones out of the rock of their dying world. Can open and close doors in mountains.
~Healer: Heals all manner of wounds, Healers vary in strength, most are strong enough to heal minor wounds and pains, and the strongest can even shape someones body like clay. Some can even force Recognition. (Mystic_Clown)
~Shapeshifter: Can effortlessly change shape into any living thing, taking on all of the characteristics and, after prolonged exposure, may even take on the personality traits of such things. (reserved for Steph)
~Glider: Two words, they fly lol They can effortlessly float in the air for long periods of time, and can even lift other things into the air. The strongest can keep themselves and other objects suspended indefinately. Does not have to be of the race Gliders, but a Glider will no matter what be able to fly. The person who chooses this as a power will be the strongest at it. (Drusie)
~Sender: Most elves can Send but the most powerful can create wonderful vivid pictures in the minds eye, but can also force their will on someone else. The strongest can also send from great distances. (reserved for....Asilynne LOL)
~Magic Sense: These can sense when someone is using magic, or when something has had magic used on it. They can follow a magic trail like a bloodhound and the strongest can even learn a specific persons magical 'signature', letting them know whose doing the magic. They can send their spirit out into the world free of the body, and can travel and see things across long distances in this spirit like form. Can also return at will. (Sarah)
~Windshaper: Able to alter the weather in the elfs location. Can whip up winds to create a sandstrom or pull moisture out of the air to form rain- or snow-clouds. Can also clear up any existing storms by blowing the clouds elsewhere. (Reserved for Miryawind)
Other powers are acceptable once I approve them so maybe youll think of something I havent ^-~ Also your char doesnt have to have a certain power if you have a reason for coming to the Palace (ie: you noticed some members of your tribe leaving without word and followed them to see where they were going).
Now onto the sign up form!
