I have not yet seen Bruno, but has anyone here seen it, and should I bother?

I DID enjoy Borat a lot, but my friend's brother who saw it claimed it was "borderline gay porn". Sure, there's gonna be something over the top every now and then, but is it actually funny? Or more provocation than humor.

Friends of mine told me that it was the same-scenario as Borat. Random-strange-(gay)guy goes to America, wants to become famous, tadatada, -insert strange over the top humor here- and everything ends well.

The humor is apparently good, nice puns and jokes. Like Borat.

Different subject, same humor, same storyline.

It's up to you to decide if you want to see it or not. In my personal opinion: if you like Borat (which you do), you should just check it out for Sasha Cohen's humor, not perse for the story.

Bruno is really more of the same as Borat; a whole lot of situational prodding to get a rise. The reactions from the people around him aren't quite as funny, but I found Sacha's lines funnier... Frankly, I don't see many reasons why you'd dislike it if you didn't like Borat, and shazza I'd be interested to hear why you weren't a fan.

It could be considered borderline gay porn, but everything Sacha does is for a reason... You can read whatever you want into it.

Its about this eccentric guy with a wierd accent going to america and making people feel uncomfortable without them realising he's exposing their social biggotries. Oh wait...thats the sum up of Borat. Let me try again...

I reccomend not seeing it, but if you do see it only see it once other wise it will taint your mind with soo much sin its not funny. But just as a baseline if you have seen Borat imagine Borat with a lot weirder scenes and absolutely no censorship what so ever.

I wanna see it. We're going to see Harry Potter today, I might have to make it a double feature :3

I've just got back from the cinema. I didn't stop laughing the whole way through; either you're watching Sacha Baron Cohen making an absolute mockery of a person or a group of people with such farcical behaviour you wonder how they didn't guess it was a joke, or watching some very over-the-top gay stuff that is too ludicrous to be taken seriously.

It is not a film for the faint-of-heart: yes, you see many, many dicks, some real, some fake, some up-close. There is some nudity of every kind. There is some very offensive stuff, such as the mockery of the Middle-Eastern crisis and lots of incredibly tasteless allusions to the Nazi regime. It is like a more intense version of Borat.

It will depend on your tastes. If you loved Borat, it is more of the same, some very funny stuff.

What's with the "omg BUT IT WAS LIKE ALMOST GAYYYYY". if it was almost straight porn, would it be less of an issue?

It really depends on your sense of humour, I went to see this on Tuesday, myself and the rest of the audience were in stitches all the way through.

If you like his style of humor and don't mind some of the most offensive things imaginable, then it's worth a see! It's actually getting cut and downgraded to a 15 in the UK in a couple of weeks, so see it now while it's an 18!

I loved Borat, had my sides splitting all the way through. I just asked because I heard this wasn't nearly as funny, but if you think so then I shall check it out.

It depends what you found funny about Borat. There is a lot of the same humour: asking loaded questions to unwitting celebrities or people in order to expose racially or sexually insensitive answers or just to get a ludicrous answer out of people, but a lot of the humour is different, such as Bruno acting more and more insanely gay in order to freak people out and see how far people were willing to remain civil in the face of such overt gay behaviour. I'm not talking about just regular gay behaviour, I'm talking about stuff that would make even regular gay people feel uncomfortable.

From the sounds of it Zak, you will find Bruno funny, although whether you will find it as funny as Borat is a different matter. I found them both very funny. I'm finding it difficult to figure out which one was funnier. There are very strong comparisons, such as Borat's overt anti-Semitism and Bruno referring to the Nazi Regime and the Holocaust every two minutes.

Here's a good comparison: Borat asks very misogynistic questions to a group of feminists, which is funny. Bruno gets a celebrity to sit down on a Mexican labourer who is on all-fours and asks her about her humanitarian work. It's a different kind of funny, but funny nonetheless.

I didn't like Borat much but want to see Bruno, I'm conflicted. I did laugh a lot at Borat but nothing in particular sticks out in my mind, and I remember being grossed out a lot. The guys I was talking to at the HP premiere said that everything funny you already saw in the trailer. Sigh. I probably won't see it I guess.
