If I were to have a special sweeper Houndoom, what should it have?

Nature? Item?

I am thinking for attacks...

Thunder Fang
Flamethrower
Dark Pulse
Nasty Plot

I need help with what nature and Item.

Nasty plot on Houndoom is a bit ballsy. Houndy usually doesn't have time to power up due to its fragility. Thunder fang isn't the best choice either. You're better off sticking with special attacks. Yeah, thunder fang is good against waters, but they'll easily wipe the floor with you before you can rack up a decent amount of damage on them with it. This is due not only to the fact that T-fang is physical (otherwise it wouldn't be that bad), but it also has low base power and doesn't benefit from STAB.

OTOH, Flamethrower and Dark Pulse are both good attacks, so they're keepers. As for what I'd recommend in place of the other two, I dunno. Too tired to think right now.:P

Take my advice (like Jeff is saying) Houndoom is fast, but it won't stick around for long. You've best bet is giving it Faint attack, rather than Thunder Fang, or Fire Fang, but you should really have Faint attack.

So instead of Nasty Plot, Faint Attack

And maybe Will-Owhisp instead of Thunder Fang, or Crunch...You should go for high speed, fire attack, or Heat Wave is a good one too.

Oh! Or a Sludge Bomb!

With Houndoom's speed and Spatk, a Sludge Bomb plus Faint Attack would be a leathal combination

Nature: Impish, Quirky, Haughty...I think

Items: Sharp (Quick) Claw, Charcol, Dark Shades/Sunglasses, Fire Plate, Shadow Plate or whatever its called

Not Quirky, it's more of a neutral nature.

Oh yeah...Clowny? Silly? I'm bad this natures...

:3 It be a crime if I didn't post. I've got like ten Houndooms myself. Raised from my very first Dour.

That looks good. Dark Pulse as a flintch factor that'll let you use Sludge Bomb/Flamethrower if ease. Everything else is spam Faint Attack and you'll be good as gold for that one

Faint Attack = Physical. Ditch it and put another Special attack back on. If you want Houndoom to special sweep, it needs a lot of Special attacks and little else. With Flamethrower and Dark Pulse, you have coverage against Grass, Ice, Bug, Steel, Psychic, and Ghost types. That's OK, but considering Houndoom's weaknesses to Water, Ground, Rock, and Fighting that remain, a Grass attack is more or less a mandate. That leaves you with 2 options: Sunnybeam, or more reliably, Hidden Power.

-Flamethrower
-Dark Pulse
-Sludge Bomb
-HP (Grass)

Even though Faint Attack is Physical....Hm, yeah, I guess if you're making it a speicalized Houndoom, but Faint Attack really is its most useful attack. If your opponent's pokemon is slow enough, you can even go twice...

Of course if they're that slow, they're a heavy duty Pokemon like Poloswine and Ice Beam :3

So swap that Faint attack (If you really want to) use Thunder Fang to take care of your Water weakness....

I still think Faint attack is its most useful attack, Physical or not :3 *never makes them Speical Sweepers* A Houndoom with only instant status conditions is fun though...Hrm

:3 I forgot you wanted aSpeical Sweeper
