a small question about barboach/whiscash

I got this freshly bread barboach with gentle personality. (+sp.def.-def.)
Now i'm thinking since it will be learning rest and amnesia wouldn't it be better of with icebeam? since grass is its only weakness.

Would you put Ice Beam on Quagsire(god I hate that name...)? No. It would get owned by almost any grass faster than it...

Its special attack stat is a little too weak to be using Ice Beam.

You also might consider Tickle. It lowers the opponent's attack and defense by one level.

Even a Gentle Whiscash is far too slow to stand a chance aganst any Grass types.

Save Ice Beam for someone who is faster - like a Swampert or a Wailord.

Personally, giving my Marstomp Ice Beam was the key to beating Winona; her Alteria knows Earthquake, so Electric and Ground types won't do against it. But teaching Ice Beam to my Marstomp was the key to defeat it. It managed to nail the guy once with Dragonbreath, but after a second Ice Beam, it was down for the count.

There's no harm in teaching it Ice Beam, since you can always buy the TM later at the Game Corner.
