Card of the Week

Sorry about the delay, but we’ve got very busy these past days. Speed is the key. And you know whose fast?

A Sneasel!

With zero Resistance Cost, it can bounce from the field to the bench with ease. This Sneasel bares no weakness, not to Fighting Energy nor to fire. This card fears nothing, and on top of that it has a resistance to Psychics energy thanks to its Dark Type.

It’s a base pokemon, coming out on the field with a mean 60 HPs and nice attacks.

This without a doubt is an offense card, fitting right neatly in a beatdown deck. Its first attack is Fury Swipes. By flipping three coins, this attack can do ten damage times the number of heads it gets, making a possibility of 30 damage points for a single colourless energy attack.

If you think that’s impressive…

Its next attack is a two cost of a Dark energy. This attack is called Beat Up. For each Pokemon you have in play, including Sneasel, you can flip a coin. If head, Sneasel does 20 damage… making the utmost outcome of this attack 120.

But wait! There’s more:

This card is special in more than one way. It’s one of the first Pokemon to make use of the Dark Energy. Dark Energy is more than just a basic type. It pumps up the attack the energy is used for by 10….Making Beat Up a 140 damage attack on a base Pokemon card.

Nasty, Fast, Deadly, cost efficient. It’s only downside is its middle ranged HP, which rarely matter when the field is in your favor. Just like in the handleheld game, speed is the key in battles. Even the world’s most amazing stall deck can be destroyed by a lucky hit from Beat Up, which is why this is the very first card ever banned.

After demolishing decks left and card, the Card Bosses stamped a big old ban on this card.

Aesthetically, the card is pleasing. The added ‘lens flare’ might be a little unnecessary, but it certainly draws you into the card.

You can pick up this outlaw for about six dollars in mint condition; a used one is about a dollar. Get one noooow.
